Thug points gun at Burger King drive-thru worker on Easter Sunday; allegedly threatens to kill him, calls him racial slur

It's bad enough that a disgruntled Ohio Burger King customer pointed a gun at an employee on Easter Sunday and allegedly threatened to kill him and called him a racial slur.

But things actually escalated at the Willowick restaurant's drive-thru when the employee told the guy he was being charged less money than he thought he had to pay.

What are the details?

The suspect can be seen in surveillance video exiting his car, pulling out a gun, and pointing it at the drive-through window, WOIO-TV reported.

The station also said it spoke exclusively with suspect's target — 38-year-old Burger King employee Howard Vernon.

“To know that somebody would do something like that just because I’m trying to give you a better deal and just to flip out like that? Yes, I mean it is scary,” Vernon told WOIO.

“I was taking this guy’s order, and he ordered like two sausage, egg, and cheese croissants and a sausage biscuit and [a] hash brown," Vernon recounted to the station. "The order came up to $8 ... and he was like, 'My order can’t be right; it should be like $11,' and I’m, like, trying to explain to him that we had a promotion going on, and, like, 'It’s cheaper.'"

Apparently, the lower price really set the guy off.

"He started cussing and getting all loud, and I was, like, 'I don’t know what to tell you; I don’t know why you wanna pay more money,'" Vernon noted to WOIO.

Vernon added to the station that the customer sped off but pulled back up a minute later while Vernon was helping another customer — and this time, the customer pointed a gun at him. Vernon also told WOIO the suspect threatened to kill him and called him a racial slur.

“The whole time I was just like, 'Well, if you gonna do it, do it ... I’m not about to run. You don’t scare me or anything like that; just do what you gotta do,' and he just kept blurting out racial slurs," Vernon noted to the station, adding that he was concerned when the suspect was pointing a gun with his arm on top of an older woman's car at the drive-thru.

"He could’ve gave her a heart attack ...” Vernon told WOIO.

The station said the incident took place around 9 a.m. at the Burger King on Vine Street and that the suspect — who police are still looking for — was driving a gray Honda and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and a hat. Those who recognize the suspect are urged to contact police, the station added.

“At the end of the day, it was about some bread and sausage sandwiches at 9 o’clock in the morning on Easter, and you’re that mad that you’d put a gun in somebody’s face?" Vernon told WOIO. "After I thought about it afterward, it was, like, kind of had me shook up a little bit ... it’s crazy ... what if he did shoot me and kill me and, you know, I have 10 kids. I would have been leaving all my kids ... I don't know why people are so angry out here at 9 o'clock in the morning."

The station said Vernon hasn't been back to work at the Burger King since the incident but plans to return.

Burger King faces $15M lawsuit for alleged failure to prevent ‘open air drug bazaar’

A New York City resident recently filed a $15 million lawsuit against a neighborhood Burger King for its failure to prevent drug dealers from overrunning the establishment, the New York Post reported Sunday.

Kevin Kaufman, a filmmaker, sued the fast-food location for its alleged part in turning “Fulton Street into an open air drug bazaar.” Drug dealers and homeless people have taken over the block, according to Kaufman, who has lived in the area for two decades.

The lawsuit, filed earlier this month, alleges that the Burger King’s owner has not done enough to prevent the illegal activities. “Professional drug dealers” use the establishment as a “base of operation, selling illegal drugs either at the entrance ... or during inclement weather, selling illegal drugs within the Burger King restaurant itself,” the complaint alleged.

Kaufman, 69, stated, “We’ve reached out to every direction we can and the only ones that seem to be responsive and listening are the cops.”

“Cops are doing everything they can to get rid of these people, but they’re handcuffed. It’s this idiotic bail reform. They have arrested a couple of people, but they are back within 24 hours,” he added.

Another resident, who requested anonymity, told the Post, “This is around the corner from the mayor, his office is right there, and it’s like ‘Dude, clean up your neighborhood.'”

He noted that the Burger King location “is never busy, the only people in there are poor, homeless or dealing drugs.”

A second anonymous resident questioned how the establishment has remained in business and why the owner is not doing more to prevent criminal activity.

Evan Gillman, a neighbor, told the Post, “There’s no restaurant patrons, no one goes in there to eat.”

Gillman stated that the drug dealers are at the Burger King “all day.”

Kaufman accused the restaurant’s owner, Lalmir Sultanzada, of failing to “take responsibility” for the criminal activity.

“He throws it on the lap of the cops instead of hiring security himself and policing his own store,” he told the Post.

The drug dealers “have long criminal records and are well known among local law enforcement,” Kaufman added.

Sultanzada explained that hiring private security would be too expensive.

“That’s not my problem ... it’s up to the police. I’m not selling drugs,” he said. “If I’m going to close the store. who’s going to be responsible for my loss?”

“They’re hanging around, they throw everything inside the stores. A couple of times they hit one of my managers,” Sultanzada remarked.

“We’ve got the same problem all over: 125th Street, same problem; 116th Street, same problem; go to the Bronx, same problem,” he continued. “It’s not me. Go talk with the government, talk with the police department, talk with the mayor, talk with the governor. ... They have to find a solution for those bums, not me.”

According to the New York Police Department, officers have responded to 143 calls and made two arrests related to the fast-food location since January 2023.

A spokesperson for the department said, “Quality of life complaints remain a real concern to residents in all city neighborhoods.”

“The NYPD deploys our officers where crime is reported in response to community complaints and will continue to address these conditions as the public demands and expects we should,” the spokesperson remarked.

'The Bud Light treatment': Burger King faces boycott for pulling ads from Rumble over Russell Brand allegations

Burger King is facing calls for a boycott after the burger chain stopped advertising on Rumble over controversy involving Russell Brand.

On Friday, the News Movement reported that several big-dollar brands pulled advertisements from Rumble — including Burger King, HelloFresh, and Asos — because the company chose not to demonetize Brand, who is facing accusations of sexual assault.

The companies appeared to take action after the news outlet informed the companies that their ads were appearing on Brand's Rumble content.

"Burger King has paused all advertising on the channel while investigations into the allegations are ongoing," Burger King told the News Movement.

The decision to pull advertisements led to outrage on social media and demands for a Burger King boycott.

  • "Burger King has pulled its ads from Rumble because the free speech platform refuses to play judge, jury, and executioner of Russell Brand after the UK Governor demanded the platform demonetize him. Reminder, Brand has not been convicted of a single crime.Boycott @BurgerKing. They hate free speech and due process, and their food is poison anyways. Stop eating it," activist Charlie Kirk said.
  • "That includes @BurgerKing for those of you who care to know[.] Maybe eat at the other placeFor a while," Dr. Jordan Peterson said.
  • "Burger King wants you to 'have it your way.' Who knew their 'way' was wokeism, censorship & cancel culture. Their burgers are shit any way. Spend your money wisely," Dan Bongino said.
  • "Burger King checks all of the boxes for a good boycott target: - Socially-consumed good (shameable) - Fungible good, low-cost to switch - Soulless capitalistic entity that would be terrified of being frozen and polarized[.] Kings don't let people eat at the King," another person wrote on X.
  • "Boycott Burger King, HelloFresh, and Asos," another person said.
  • "I boycotted @BurgerKing when they mocked God. If you didn’t boycott them then, boycott them now. There’s way better fast food burgers, like In & Out," one person said.
  • "Burger King believes in censorship. Never liked the whole King idea ever. Let’s get rid of 'royalty,'" another person said.
  • "Looks like @BurgerKing wants the Bud Light treatment," one person observed.

TheBlaze has reached out to Burger King for clarification about its decision. The company did not respond by press time.

The decision by some companies to pause advertising comes after Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski refused to "join a cancel culture mob" and demonetize Brand.

Pavlovski was forced to speak out after the British House of Commons' Culture, Media, and Sport Committee wrote to Rumble asking if the online video platform planned to allow Brand to continue to monetize his videos after YouTube demonetized him. Spotify also refused to remove Brand's podcast from its platform.

On Monday, the Metropolitan Police in London confirmed investigators have opened a formal investigation into the allegations against Brand.

Burger King employee faces 20 years in prison for allegedly serving up French fries pulled from trash can

A Burger King assistant manager faces up to 20 years in prison after she allegedly served customers French fries that were pulled from a trash can.

Police officers were dispatched to a Burger King restaurant in northern South Carolina on July 9 after someone reported a disturbance. Once on scene, police identified two women arguing with employees, WHNS-TV reported.

The women, who allegedly threatened restaurant staff, refused to calm down, leading police to arrest them on disorderly conduct charges.

Two days later, Burger King corporate headquarters informed law enforcement that an employee at the restaurant had taken French fries from the trash can and placed them in the fry dump where freshly cooked fries are stored before being served to customers. Those actions purportedly triggered the women who had been arrested two days prior.

Upon investigation, police arrested 39-year-old Jaime Christine Major, an assistant manager at the Burger King. She is charged with malicious tampering of human food, a serious felony that carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years if convicted.

Meanwhile, the two women who were arrested for disorderly conduct were later named as victims of Major's alleged crime, the Daily Mail reported.

In a statement, Burger King told TheBlaze that Major has been fired but declined to comment further because of the ongoing law enforcement investigation.

"These allegations do not align to the brand's commitment to quality food and service and creating an exceptional Guest experience. The employee in question has been terminated by the Franchisee of this location," Burger King said.

"The Franchisee is cooperating with local authorities, and because this remains an ongoing investigation, we are unable to share additional details at this time," the statement added.

Woman in hoodie leaps across Burger King counter in Bronx, tries to steal register cash. Workers drag her toward kitchen, but soon, she just casually walks out.

A woman donned in a hoodie and sunglasses was caught on video leaping across the counter of a Burger King in the Bronx to try stealing cash from the register — but after an employee pulled her off the counter and toward the kitchen, the woman soon was able to casually walk out of the restaurant.

What are the details?

The suspect placed an order inside the Burger King on Grand Concourse near East 150th Street in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx around 3 p.m. Tuesday, police told the New York Post.

Video shows her retrieving cash and handing it to the worker behind the counter — but the Post said that when the employee opened the register to look for change, the woman lunged for cash in the drawer and got about $250, police and the video indicated.

Video shows another employee rushing over and pulling the woman off the counter and heading to the back of the store. Newsweek said the woman was carried toward the kitchen.

Workers managed to grab back the cash, the Post said.

Anything else?

One of the employees, a 23-year-old man, suffered a cut on his head during the struggle with the woman but refused medical attention, the paper reported.

Police are trying to track down the suspect, described as in her 20s, around 5-foot-7-inches tall, with a dark complexion and slim build, the Post said.

She was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers, the paper added.

Headless body discovered behind Georgia Burger King

Authorities have opened an investigation after a Bibb County, Georgia, citizen discovered human remains behind a Macon, Georgia, Burger King restaurant on Monday.

The body, according to various reports, was located in a wooded area near the undisclosed franchise.

What are the details?

According to a report from WGXA-TV, an unnamed passerby was walking in the area and spotted the badly decomposed body. Authorities said that the unidentified witness immediately called emergency responders to report the grisly finding.

An initial investigation showed that the body — which was "embedded in the dirt" — was missing its head. Reports added that the skull was nowhere to be found following a cursory examination of the surrounding area. The body, according to reports, had “hardly any extremities left” and was said to be in the late stages of decomposition.

"We're going to need to get a shovel and dig around the body so we can get everything in the body bag so the GBI Crime Lab will have all of the body to process," coroner Leon Jones said, the station reported. It was unclear how long the body was lying in the area. "We do know that this body has been here for a long time, that's it," he said.

WMAZ-TV reported that police found a pair of men's black tennis shoes located near the body. It is unknown at the time of this reporting whether the discarded shoes belonged to the deceased or if they simply happened to be in the same general area.

Authorities are working to determine the identity of the body and have yet to announce whether the human remains are of a male or female.

Investigators ask that if any person has information regarding the case to contact the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at (478) 751-7500.

Burger King in Spain uses Christ's words at Last Supper — 'Take all of you and eat of it' — for Holy Week ad campaign; apologizes after Catholic uproar

Burger King in Spain used Christ's words at the Last Supper in a Holy Week ad campaign for vegetarian menu items, and then apologized after uproar from Catholics in the country, Fox News reported.

What are the details?

"Take all of you and eat of it," one ad stated in a pitch for the Big King Vegetable sandwich, the cable network said.

Another ad said, "Flesh of my flesh" with the word "flesh" twice crossed out and replaced with vegetable, Fox News said.

The ad campaign angered Catholics in Spain, where 60% of the population is Catholic, the cable network said.

"Apparently, the loss of culinary taste and the lack of respect for religious sentiments go hand in hand," Bishop José Ignacio Munilla of Orihuela-Alicante tweeted along with a photo of the "Take all of you and eat of it" ad:

Por lo visto, la perdida del gusto culinario y la falta de respeto a los sentimientos religiosos van de la mano...\n#SabadoSantopic.twitter.com/XSQCIFmfof
— Jose Ignacio Munilla (@Jose Ignacio Munilla) 1650131441

An online petition called for a Burger King boycott.

What does the petition say?

"I am indignant!" the Google translated petition states. "I just saw the Burger King ad where they use the Gospel to promote a veggie burger! They mock the Eucharist and the death of Christ in the most sacred time for Christians. They take advantage of Holy Week to launch an offensive campaign against the millions of believers in order to get publicity and money. It's time to respond with a boycott of Burger King."

It adds, "Sign and tell the CEO of Burger King that if the general director of Spain and Portugal, Jorge Carvalho, is not dismissed for taking out this ad, you will never set foot in any of his restaurants with your family."

What did Burger King have to say?

Burger King told Fox News in a statement that campaign's intention was "never to offend."

"At Burger King, we value diversity and inclusion," the statement reads, according to the cable network. "The intention of this campaign, executed by our partner in Spain, was never to offend. However, we are aware that it did, and as a result the ads were quickly taken down. We apologize for any offense."
