The U.S. military has faced declining standards and an overemphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion under the Biden-Harris administration. A 2022 “Woke Warfighters” report, compiled by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), highlighted some of the most egregious examples of how woke ideology has infiltrated and co-opted the military.

The Biden administration’s 2022 National Security Strategy listed “promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion” as a top priority for the U.S. military, placing it above other traditional objectives. Recruitment videos now focus on diversity over service. One particularly controversial animated ad featured a young woman raised by lesbian parents who joins the Army — a sharp departure from the “Be All You Can Be” messaging of the past.

While partisans focus on discrediting a decorated war veteran and strong advocate for service members, the military faces recruitment, retention, and morale crises.

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley testified before Congress that he wanted to understand “white rage.” A 2021 diversity and inclusion strategic plan for the Special Forces stated that “SOCOM will implement a ‘Joint Special Operations University Diversity and Inclusion Curriculum’ to emphasize what makes ‘diversity in [Special Operations Forces] an operational imperative.’”

The 18-page report, which received surprisingly little media coverage upon its release, details numerous examples of how such ideology has permeated the military. Pete Hegseth has emerged as a vocal opponent of this approach, vowing to end the Pentagon’s DEI insanity. Naturally, he has become a target of mainstream media outlets and influential Democrats.

Hegseth, a decorated war veteran with years of military service and advocacy for service members, transitioned to media as a popular Fox News host. Despite his credentials, critics dismiss him as merely a “TV host,” relying on audiences not to investigate his distinguished background. Agenda-driven partisans have resurrected unfounded and discredited sexual assault accusations that were resolved years ago. His enemies mischaracterize his tattoos, which reflect his deep Christian faith, as white nationalist symbols.

Hegseth has been vocal for years in opposing the DEI push in the military, arguing that it undermines military effectiveness, weakens the armed forces, and jeopardizes American safety. His stance, along with his comments about combat roles being unsuitable for women, has made him a prime target of the identitarian feminist left. As we approach the post-inauguration confirmation hearings, the smear campaign against Hegseth will undoubtedly escalate.

While partisans focus on discrediting a decorated war veteran and strong advocate for service members, the military faces recruitment, retention, and morale crises. As a decorated Iraq War veteran with a significant social media following, I receive frequent messages from active-duty soldiers. They express frustration with the Biden-Harris administration’s military policies, citing lowered standards that produce weaker troops, DEI initiatives that harm unit cohesion, and a hesitancy among pro-America young men — traditionally the military’s strongest recruits — to enlist.

Hegseth plans to reverse these trends. Partisan Democrat smear campaigns must step aside to allow him to restore the strength and greatness of America’s military.

Sony loses over $200M with DEI game studio that pushed morbidly-obese women and robots with pronouns



Sony and PlayStation have shut the doors on Firewalk Studios after the developers lost more than $200 million for their parent company in about two weeks. Sony purchased the studio in 2023.

Before its release, Concord — a space-aged first-person shooter game — was criticized for its excessive and forced diversity themes, including multiple characters who were morbidly obese and even robots with preferred pronouns.

It took just 14 days after its August 23 release date for Sony to shut down operations and pull the game from both physical and digital shelves.

At the time, Sony said certain "aspects of the game" didn't "land the way [they were] intended" and that Concord would be pulled from the market immediately. It also offered refunds to all customers.

Sony also said it was still determining the "best path ahead" for the game.

'We took the game offline.'

Fast forward six weeks, and Sony has announced it will close the studio, marking one of the most monetarily-damaging mistakes in recent gaming history.

"Certain aspects of Concord were exceptional," Sony generously wrote on its blog. "But others did not land with enough players, and as a result we took the game offline. We have spent considerable time these past few months exploring all our options."

"After much thought, we have determined the best path forward is to permanently sunset the game and close the studio," Sony added.

The gaming giant noted that the studio "did not hit" its "targets."

While the game was a massive failure that took approximately eight years to develop, Sony's financial implications were even bigger than initially expected.

Initial reports estimated a $100 million loss for the studio, given the cost of similar projects. However, insider testimony has since revealed that the game's initial development deal was over $200 million, not counting the rest of the studio's agreement with Sony.

Citing sources familiar with the agreement, Kotaku reported that the $200 million was not even enough to cover the game's development and did not include the purchase of Concord's intellectual property rights or the purchase of Firewalk Studios itself.

'Putting new things into the world is critical.'

Firewalk has since issued a lengthy final statement on X, disregarding the financial losses and the real reasons its game was widely rejected.

"Firewalk is signing off one last time," it wrote.

The company stated that the project "landed much more narrowly than hoped," but qualified its statement with a claim that the market is "heavily consolidated."

The studio then justified its project by saying that while "other aspects of the IP didn't land," the idea of "putting new things into the world is critical to pushing the medium forward."

The studio closes out the post with "end transmission," as if it were written in the fantasy world it had created. This odd disconnect, which largely ignores the reality of a monumental ideological failure, echoes similar sentiments that DEI-laden games have pushed out recently.

Many studios have acted as if they are playing with Monopoly money, which has cost big studios hundreds of millions while often hiring ideological allies to push their viewpoints through their games (see Unknown 9 and Dustborn).

A recent Suicide Squad game cost Warner Bros. $200 million.

Other games like Dustborn simply blew through $1.56 million in grants.

Only time will tell whether other studios seemingly come to their senses the way Sony has and cut their losses before it's too late.

Microsoft brags about pushing DEI since the late '80s — including 'gender-affirming benefits'



Microsoft's 2024 diversity and inclusion report highlights race- and sexuality-based programs dating back to the 1980s.

The report begins with the chief diversity officer stating that the company's inclusivity mission aims to empower "every person and every organization on the planet" to achieve more.

These vague platitudes were followed with a list of disturbing initiatives that started as early as 1985.

This included naming a "diversity director," establishing a "minority student day," and even race-based employee groups such as "Blacks at Microsoft," all in the 1980s.

Along with groups for gays, women, and Asians, Microsoft bragged that since 1989, it has been "promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusion."

Between 1996 and 2006, Microsoft infused its progressive beliefs into politics by partnering with organizations like the United Nations and the Human Rights Campaign.

The HRC is an adamant supporter of transgender surgeries for minors. Microsoft boasted that in 2005, it achieved a perfect score on the HRC's Equality Index.

"We donated over $1 million (including company match) to 220 nonprofits supporting LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide, totaling over $16.3 million in all-time donations to these organizations," Microsoft wrote.

During this time period, Microsoft said it also offered "gender-affirming benefits" to U.S. employees.

The report stretched its claims of inclusion by reporting on generic, nonspecific woke viewpoints within the company. For example, Microsoft reported that 83.5% of its employees agreed or strongly agreed that they have seen coworkers "demonstrate allyship in the workplace."

Other statistics showed a 2.3% year-over-year increase in groupthink (78.9% to 81.2%) regarding "diversity" being "critical" to the company's success.

'We believe gaming should be inclusive of all, accessible to all, and safe for all.'

Some of Microsoft's other initiatives are even more troubling, including "hiring inclusively" and "supplier diversity."

Described as partnerships that intend to "increase opportunities for communities," "diversity" in this sense is not really explained.

Glenda Dengah, director of supplier diversity, is quoted as saying the supply program is about "cultivating enduring partnerships" from "the diverse communities we represent."

Microsoft also claimed, using uncited research, that 71% of gamers think it's very important to have diverse characters and content. Again, these terms were not defined.

"We believe gaming should be inclusive of all, accessible to all, and safe for all," the company wrote.

Despite this claim, diversity-driven games have failed to capture audiences, with several big-budget games tanking in 2024 within just days of their release.

While the report was still published, it is important to note that Microsoft quietly laid off a diversity, equity, and inclusion team in July but insisted its commitment to diversity is "unwavering."

Blaze News reached out to a spokesperson representing Microsoft to discuss what "hiring inclusively" means, what "supplier diversity" means, and where its video game-related research came from.

The spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment despite initiating contact and sending the report.

DEI is dragging down America’s best and brightest



Growing up in Keyport, New Jersey, sports played a big role in my life. Naturally, I became an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. Every year, I hoped one of my teams had the best shot and dreamed they would win the championship. After each season, my friends and I turned to the draft or free agency, eagerly discussing new player acquisitions. It's been exciting to watch how “fantasy” sports have evolved to the point that they’ve become a sport of their own.

When drafting for a sports team, the focus has always been on improving the current roster. Who is the fastest, strongest, or most durable? Who can improve the team’s chances of winning a championship? I’ve never heard — and still don’t hear — anyone say they’re looking for the most diverse player to promote equity. A sports team’s goal is to win.

If we don’t abandon forced DEI policies in our government, military, and corporations, our entire economy and national security will become a joke.

Thomas Jefferson penned the famous phrase in our Declaration of Independence: “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

What a powerful message. It’s the foundation of our society and government. We also know it’s an ideal we aspire to and that, in this country and worldwide, not everyone has been treated equally. Since the beginning of time, people have restricted others’ freedoms. Even today, millions around the world are trapped in slavery and don’t enjoy the freedom of religion, speech, or movement — freedoms we sometimes take for granted as Americans.

Even though mankind has abased it, the universal truth of freedom remains intact, which is why me must continue to fight for it in its ideal form every day.

However, equality of opportunity doesn’t mean we all have equal abilities or should achieve equal outcomes. Just as sports teams scout for new talent, not everyone can dunk a basketball, hit a home run, invent lifesaving medicine, run a business, or lead a country.

We all have an inner drive to compete, succeed, and win, but not always in the same way or with the same results. Consider some of the greatest success stories of the past century: Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Sam Walton, Madam C.J. Walker, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates. They all were highly motivated, willing to fail, and competitive and had a strong understanding of what people wanted. They were also intellectually gifted beyond many of their peers.

Instead of forcing everyone to be equal in drive and intellect or imposing redistributive government policies, our Founding Fathers fought for the freedom of these gifted, driven individuals to succeed. As a result, the nation has become far better for everyone. The United States is undeniably the world’s leader in technology, medicine, food production, and military strength.

Over the past 35 years, I’ve hired hundreds of people who were the best and brightest and who understood what we aimed to accomplish with our company.

The primary danger of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs is that they impose a new kind of slavery, shackling the best and brightest with the chains of the lowest common denominator. This approach benefits no one.

Do passengers want the most diverse pilot or the best pilot? Do cancer patients want the most diverse doctors or the best doctors? Do baseball teams win championships because they have the most diverse players or the best players?

Everyone should have the opportunity to compete for any job, with the same rules and minimum standards applying to all. However, DEI quotas at any level are wrong and anti-American, and they contribute to failure.

And for those who truly believe in DEI, stop with the hypocrisy. Demand that goods produced with slave labor in communist China or other repressive regimes be immediately banned in the United States. Demand that all sports teams immediately reflect the proportion of skin color among Americans. That would be something to watch in the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball. Actually, it would be something no one would watch because it would be a joke.

If we don’t abandon forced DEI policies in our government, military, and corporations, our entire economy and national security will become a joke as well.

End DEI. Let freedom and human ingenuity run wild. This will ensure that America’s greatness will never be in doubt.

This deadly experiment endangered Trump’s life — and imperils public safety



The near assassination of Donald Trump on July 13 at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers in today’s political landscape. A 20-year-old shooter breached the Secret Service’s security perimeter with a rifle, firing multiple rounds from an elevated position just 150 yards from the stage. Trump sustained a superficial wound to his right ear, and tragically, an attendee was killed. Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle called it “the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades.”

Questions surrounding the incident continue to grow. One of the most glaring concerns is the behavior of multiple Secret Service agents, who appeared overwhelmed by the situation. They struggled with basic tasks, such as handling and holstering their service weapons. This incident has intensified scrutiny of federal law enforcement hiring practices, but Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas dismissed these concerns as “baseless and insulting.

The Secret Service’s poor performance after the attack on Trump underscores that public safety is not the place for social experimentation.

The Secret Service agents’ conduct on July 13 is the troubling result of a new initiative spreading throughout American law enforcement: the 30x30 Initiative.

According to its website, the 30x30 Initiative aims to “advance the representation and experiences of women in policing agencies across the United States.” The program seeks to “increase the representation of women in police recruit classes to 30% by 2030 and ensure police policies and culture support the success of qualified women officers throughout their careers.” In 2022, the U.S. Marshals Service became the 200th agency to sign the 30x30 pledge, and the Justice Department announced its collaboration with the initiative.

All outward appearances indicate the 30x30 Initiative is another example of leftist, woke ideology worshiping at the secular altar of diversity, equity, and inclusion. However, a closer look at the principles and goals behind the initiative reveals a more insidious intent. If left unchecked, it could erode America’s ability to ensure public safety, advancing a cultural Marxist agenda under the guise of “female empowerment.”

The 30x30 Initiative’s website offers resources and summaries explaining its agenda. One document, titled “What Works: The Social Science Research Behind Advancing Women in Policing, Recruitment & Assessment,” states that “policing is a traditionally male-dominated profession, and even today, white, heterosexual men comprise the majority of law enforcement.” It also describes a “culture of homophobia” and criticizes how sexual and racial minority officers must conform to “performative heterosexuality or masculinity.” Additionally, the pamphlet claims that “white culture is a source of decreased retention for women officers.”

Another document, “What Works: The Social Science Research Behind Advancing Women in Policing, Retention & Culture,” critiques police physical fitness tests, arguing that they “advantage younger and male recruits by emphasizing upper-body strength.” It further claims that “minority recruits are negatively impacted by ‘job knowledge’ tests due to deep-seated economic, social, and educational inequality.” Finally, the document states that “female officers are subject to restrictive policies regulating the exact lengths of their hair and banning makeup and other accessories.”

A quick look at these claims might lead a casual observer to dismiss the 30x30 Initiative as misguided, woke dogma. However, a deeper analysis reveals a more radical agenda.

American policing has historically been a male-dominated field because of the nature of the work. The job involves irregular hours and heightened physical danger and requires participants to be willing and able to use force. Biology equips men with the psychological predisposition and physical strength to handle these demands.

Dress codes are common in every workplace. In law enforcement, uniform and grooming standards promote safety, as long hair can become a liability during use-of-force situations. Additionally, the pressure to conform to workplace culture exists across all industries and is one of the main reasons employees leave jobs within their first year.

Law enforcement demands significant physicality. While handling a combative arrestee or chasing a fleeing suspect may make up a small portion of a police officer’s day, officers must always be prepared and capable of performing these tasks. Professional baseball players are expected to hit pitches traveling over 90 miles per hour. Although the total time spent reacting to pitches in a game is only a few seconds, a player who can’t hit the ball hurts the team.

The stakes are higher for police officers. Reduced physical and job-knowledge standards jeopardize the lives of fellow officers and citizens when officers lack the strength, stamina, and expertise necessary to perform their duties adequately.

There’s also the issue of the 30x30 Initiative’s desire to eliminate “white culture.” In 2020, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture released — and quickly retracted — a chart listing characteristics of “white culture.” The list included self-reliance, objective thinking, hard work, respect for authority, delayed gratification, rigid time schedules, politeness, and adherence to English common law. It’s absurd to attribute these qualities to a particular race, yet all are essential for effective law enforcement.

The failed attempt on Donald Trump’s life on July 13 should be remembered as an infamous date in American history. As the country grapples with unanswered questions surrounding the events of that day, one issue should be settled: Whether driven by a misguided commitment to diversity or Marxist ideologies, the federal government’s embrace of the 30x30 Initiative is a dangerous mistake. The Secret Service’s poor performance after the attack underscores that public safety is not the place for social experimentation.

If Donald Trump returns to office, he could safeguard his own well-being — and that of the American people — by withdrawing the federal government from the 30x30 Initiative and refocusing federal law enforcement on public safety rather than radical gender and racial identity politics.

Tim Walz's admin to hold 'BIPOC'-only retreat for library workers — sign-up form excludes 'white,' 'heterosexual': Report



Democratic vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz's Minnesota State Library Services plans to hold a BIPOC-only — "black, indigenous, people of color" — retreat for library workers next month, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The upcoming event aims to "help library workers connect with other BIPOC staff," according to a pre-conference event agenda. The Minnesota State Library Services will cover the attendees' lodging, meals, and other costs.

'Specifically for BIPOC library workers of Minnesota.'

According to the news outlet, a sign-up form for the conference allows interested attendee applicants to select their race and sexuality, which notably excluded "white" and "heterosexual."

"Join the Minnesota State Library Services BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Library Advisory Group for a day of professional development and network-building designed specifically for BIPOC library workers of Minnesota," reads the event's virtual registration form obtained by DNCF.

The agenda obtained by the outlet revealed that Nicole Cooke, a library and information science professor at the University of South Carolina, is one of the event's planned keynote speakers.

Earlier this year, Cooke received an award for "improv[ing] diversity in librarianship," according to an announcement from the university.

"As a professor, I've had students who never had an educator of color. But South Carolina, where most of our graduates work after graduating, is filled with diverse communities," Cooke stated. "I would not be doing my job well if I did not prepare these students to best serve the communities where they will likely work. That means first educating them about diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice issues."

Cooke has said that she experienced "microaggression and racism" first-hand from other colleagues and patrons throughout her career. She received a grant in 2017 to study "racial microaggressions in libraries," the DNCF reported.

She has previously claimed that it would be "tantamount to malpractice" to send students into the workforce without first educating them on DEI.

Minnesota State Library Services' director, Tamara Lee, has also expressed her commitment to advancing "racial equity in libraries," according to her LinkedIn profile, the DCNF reported. She previously co-wrote a piece about ensuring "racially diverse, equitable, and inclusive" story times for children.

"Apathy, ignorance, and racism are all possible reasons for avoiding the inclusion of racial diversity in storytimes," the article read.

Lee, the Harris-Walz campaign, the Minnesota governor's office, and the Minnesota State Library Service did not respond to the DCNF's request for comment.

Media frets about racism after yet another DEI-obsessed university president apparently committed plagiarism



Darryll Pines, the president of the University of Maryland, is under fire for apparently plagiarizing some of his work from a website. Rather than report the story straight, however, some media outlets covering the allegations have turned their attention to the Daily Wire, the outlet that dared to unearth Pines' alleged academic dishonesty in the first place.

The allegations

Earlier this month, the Daily Wire reported that Pines, an aerospace engineer who has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT, appeared to lift roughly 1,500 words from a website for a 5,000-word article he co-authored with Liming Salvino.

Their article was first published in 2002. Much of the text of that article was then published again in a separate journal in 2006.

The website from which Pines and Salvino apparently plagiarized is called Surfing the Wavelets. It was created in 1996 by Joshua Altmann, who was then a university student in Australia. The website has not been updated since 1996.

To demonstrate the extent of the apparently plagiarized material, the Daily Wire included a damning side-by-side comparison of Altmann's website and excerpts from Pines and Salvino's 2002 article. The language is almost identical except that some sentences appear to have been omitted.

Pines and Salvino also apparently took the trouble of Americanizing Altmann's British spelling so that words such as analysed and localised appeared instead as analyzed and localized. The co-authors may also have accidentally introduced a spelling error in the process, writing endevour where Altmann has endeavor.

Neither the 2002 nor the 2006 article cites Altmann or his website even as both include all of Altmann's footnotes "down to the page numbers," the Daily Wire said.

Pines' list of published scholarship on his university website does not mention either article, though both do appear on his CV.

Just this month, Pines also allegedly used ChatGPT to compose a speech for a presentation about an upcoming pro-Palestinian rally on October 7, the Daily Wire reported. Pines claimed the information came from "faculty research."

When reached for comment, University of Maryland spokesperson Katie Lawson didn't even bother to deny the accusations. Instead, she said:

It is not uncommon for historical and technical reviews to use recurrent language to provide a framework for past work. Establishing this shared understanding in the scientific community is what allows for applications of new technology, which is what Dr. Pines and Dr. Salvino explored in testing a new application of the Hilbert phase. The use of customary or common language in introductory material does not speak to the integrity of the data or the veracity of the findings.

In the days following the Daily Wire's bombshell report, Pines called for an independent review of his work. "While I do not believe there is merit to these claims, an impartial review is in the best interest of the university," he said.

In his statement, he also admitted to including "recurrent language in the introductory sections," ostensibly of his 2002 and 2006 pieces, even as he insisted that his "results, data and findings are sound."

Even Jonathan Bailey, who claims to be a plagiarism expert, admitted that Pines' case "appears to be one of the stronger" allegations of academic misconduct leveled lately against university professors and administrators, many of whom are black.

"Here, we have whole sections of a paper that are near verbatim or verbatim," Bailey said.

The response

'Black People: Stay in Your Lane, or You Will Be Gone.'

In other words, there is ample evidence to support the accusations against Pines, but rather than investigate them, multiple outlets and organizations have instead attempted to ascertain the Daily Wire's possible motives for reporting them.

And most of them seemingly came to the conclusion that those who report on black alleged plagiarists are just plain racist.

"The Daily Wire is a conservative publication associated with national figures who often rail against diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and specialize in incendiary content," wrote the Baltimore Banner.

"The claim against Dr. Pines comes after a series of plagiarism accusations have been leveled at academics — many of them focused on diversity efforts in universities and many of them Black — in recent months," tsked the New York Times.

Inside Higher Ed bemoaned the "pattern of attacks on scholars of color by conservative activists and publications in recent months."

US Black Engineer Information Technology, which bills itself as "the STEM community's magazine," went so far as to paint Pines as the victim of a racist witch hunt: "Despite his long-standing leadership in fostering diversity and inclusion, some view his current challenges as part of a broader DEI backlash."

"Black People: Stay in Your Lane, or You Will Be Gone," USBEIT added ominously.

Pines is black. He also happens to be an outspoken DEI activist at the University of Maryland. He is so race-obsessed that the opening paragraph of his university bio touts his efforts to establish "a diverse and multicultural community."

As part of those efforts, he created the TerrapinSTRONG initiative, which seeks to "welcome new members into our community, enhance inclusion and sense of belonging, and act upon University of Maryland diversity, equity and inclusion goals."

In his statement calling for a review of his work, Pines also hinted that he has been unfairly targeted by ruthless investigators, lamenting: "Like many of my fellow higher education presidents and chancellors, I have come under aggressive scrutiny, both personally and professionally."

The UM Office of Research Integrity will conduct the review of his work and will then share its findings with Chancellor Jay Perman via the Office of Faculty Affairs in the provost’s office, the Baltimore Banner said.

Altmann could not be reached for comment, and Salvino declined to comment, the Banner added.
