Ex-Democrat Tulsi Gabbard to campaign with GOP Senate candidate Don Bolduc in New Hampshire

After leaving the Democratic Party with a scorched-earth statement blasting the "elitist cabal of warmongers" in Washington, D.C., former Hawaii congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard will campaign for Trump-endorsed New Hampshire Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc

The Bolduc campaign announced Wednesday that Gabbard will join the GOP candidate and "barnstorm the Granite State," with a schedule of events forthcoming.

"We don't agree on every issue, but I am honored to have the support of Tulsi Gabbard who shares my view that the status quo is broken, and we need a change of direction," Bolduc said in a statement.

"Tulsi is a fellow change agent and independent-minded outsider willing to speak truth to power. I am going to spend every day between now and election day building a wide coalition of supporters that includes Republicans, independents and even disaffected Democrats who know that Senator Hassan is a career politician and must be retired," he added.

Bolduc, a retired Army general who beat the establishment-supported state Sen. Chuck Morse in the Republican primary last month, has generated controversy by questioning the results of the 2020 presidential election. After winning the primary, he told Fox News hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino, "I have come to the conclusion, and I want to be definitive on this, the election was not stolen."

Incumbent Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) has led Bolduc in polls since the primary by an average of 5.8 percentage points. But a recent Trafalgar Group survey found Hassan leading 48% to Bolduc's 45%, showing that the race remains tight and Hassan vulnerable.

In response to Bolduc's announcement, the New Hampshire Democratic Party released a statement slamming Gabbard as friendly with "dictators" and a pro-Russian conspiracy theorist.

“Tulsi Gabbard is a Vladimir Putin apologist who has pushed conspiracy theories and stood with dangerous tyrants over the United States. By campaigning with a pro-Putin, extreme conspiracy theorist like Gabbard, Don Bolduc is making only more clear how out of step he is with NH,” Democrats said.

Gabbard, who was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party and in 2013 was unanimously elected to a four-year term as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced in a video Tuesday that she is no longer a Democrat.

"I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that's under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution," she said, "who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police but protect criminals at the expensive of law-abiding Americans, who believe in open borders, who weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents, and, above all, who are dragging us closer to nuclear war."
