Bullet reportedly pierces wall of Oakland home, hits father of 2 in head while he's asleep, exits through his eye

A bullet reportedly pierced the wall of an Oakland home last week, hit a father of two young daughters in the head while he was asleep, and exited through his eye.

Citing a GoFundMe page from the family of victim Run Hua Kuang, KTVU-TV reported that he was taking a nap Thursday afternoon after finishing his shift as a delivery truck driver when a bullet penetrated a headboard, went through his head, and came out his left eye.

'This shocking incident has left the entire family traumatized and in deep distress.'

Kuang was on life support in an intensive care united after a seven-hour surgery, the station said.

KTVU said the 33-year-old victim and his family live in a housing project, and he was the sole breadwinner for his wife of seven years and his two young daughters, ages 7 and just 3 months.

The East Bay Times said Oakland Housing Authority police are investigating what prompted the shooting in the 2200 block of East 19th Street, and no arrests were announced, and no suspect information has been released.

"This shocking incident has left the entire family traumatized and in deep distress. This tragedy has created a severe financial burden for our family," the fundraiser read, the station said.

Kuang's sister put together the GoFundMe page and said he's also the person in his household who speaks English, and he takes care of family responsibilities and communications.

The fundraiser says he immigrated to the U.S. from Taishan, China, in 2005 "searching for the American Dream for his family."

The campaign has raised nearly $111,000 of a $200,000 goal as of Monday afternoon.

Those with information about the shooting can call OHA police at 510-535-3100 or its tip line at 510-535-3155, the Times said, adding that an OHA communications representative said the agency has been in contact with the family and “is providing support and services.”

Despite migrants relocated, GoFundMe campaign raised $42,000 for 50 illegal immigrants, but money will go to Martha's Vineyard Community Foundation that has $14 million in assets

In response to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sending 50 illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, a GoFundMe campaign was launched. In less than 48 hours of their arrival to Martha's Vineyard, the migrants were being shipped off to Joint Base Cape Cod. Despite the illegal aliens having been removed from the swanky liberal enclave, the GoFundMe campaign continued to accept donations for hours after the migrants had been removed from the island.

Some liberals reacted to 50 migrants being sent to Martha's Vineyard by comparing DeSantis to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Some accused DeSantis of "kidnapping" and "human trafficking."

One individual created a campaign on the crowdfunding website GoFundMe to supposedly assist the illegal immigrants who were sent to Martha's Vineyard.

The GoFundMe campaign is labeled: "Urgent plea to help Martha's Vineyard migrants."

MassLive reported, "A GoFundMe account has raised thousands of dollars for the Venezuelan immigrants placed on the island. The account which was organized by Sarah Goulet will donate all proceeds toward the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation."

Goulet wrote, "By now, you have probably seen the shocking news that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis arranged to send two planeloads of migrants, mostly from Venezuela, to the island of Martha’s Vineyard."

"Officials and volunteers on the island have sprung into action to provide emergency services, shelter, food, and clothing," she continued. "Martha's Vineyard is a community of open-hearted individuals that view these migrants as people, not political pawns."

"However, the island is a resort community with only 20,000 year-round residents, and it already faces a shortage of affordable housing and off-season jobs," the GoFundMe listing stated. "Please join me in donating to the Martha's Vineyard Community Foundation, which can quickly distribute funds to the neediest organizations."

Goulet added, "This action by DeSantis is a cruel ruse that manipulates families seeking a better life — but we can help to provide support."

Goulet noted that "Martha's Vineyard is a very special place for my family and me," and that her parents have a home on the island.

According to Townhall reporter Mia Cathell, "The organizer is an Ivy League alum from an affluent family and New York comms exec who donated 6x to Kamala Harris. Her wedding on Martha's Vineyard was featured by NYT and her family's $1.6 million+ home there sits near a private association beach."

"The GoFundMe donations are going to Martha's Vineyard Community Foundation, which has assets under management of $14 million+," Cathell wrote on Twitter. "MVCF is also seeking money via a Migrant Relief Fund since residents are 'concerned about the well being of the migrants...on our Island.'"

Nonprofit database GuideStar revealed that the Martha's Vineyard Community Foundation has assets of $14,387,890

Despite the migrants being relocated off Martha's Vineyard around 10 a.m., the crowdfunding campaign continued.

Goulet posted an update at 11 a.m. on Friday: "The migrants left Martha's Vineyard for the Cape this morning."

With the migrants having already been hauled off Martha's Vineyard, Goulet said the donations "will go to shoring up the organizations that provided assistance over the past few days and to building up a reserve to assist situations like this in the future, rather than directly helping this group of migrants and their situation."

Goulet wrote at 4 p.m., "All funds raised went directly to the MV Community Foundation, to distribute to the organizations with the most need."

The GoFundMe campaign raised a total of $42,516.

Burger King employee received a crummy goodie bag for working 27 years without missing a day, then David Spade stepped up big time

A Burger King employee has worked at the fast-food restaurant for 27 years and never missed a day. In recognition of his hard work, the management company rewarded the worker with a lousy goodie bag. However, comedian David Spade stepped up to give the hard worker a much more suitable gift.

Kevin Ford, 54, works as a cook and cashier at the Burger King in the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport in Nevada. Ford was given a gift bag by HMS Host – a company that operates restaurants in airports.

For working 27 years without missing a single day, the company rewarded Ford with a single movie ticket, a Starbucks cup, two packs of Lifesavers candy, a bag of Reese's Pieces, two pens, and other trinkets.

Despite the severely lackluster gifts, Ford was very appreciative of the gesture.

A video of Ford accepting the crummy goodie bag went viral this week. Many viewers remarked on how grateful Ford was while accepting the uninspiring gifts.

Ford's daughter noticed that people were interested in giving her father a more rewarding gift for his hard work, so she launched a GoFundMe campaign.

"Hi, My name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work," Seryna Ford wrote on the crowdfunding website.

"He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago," she explained. "Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continue to work here because of the amazing health insurance That was provided through this employer because it was unionized. Which got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage."

The daughter noted that they are not expecting any money, but said that her father would love to visit his grandchildren in Texas.

The GoFundMe campaign caught the eyes of many – including David Spade.

Spade made a donation of $5,000 to Ford after hearing his story. However, Ford was not sure if it was the real David Spade. Then Ford received a message on Instagram, according to TMZ.

"Keep up the good work. 27 years," Spade wrote to Ford.

Ford was blown away that the Hollywood celebrity contacted him, "HOLY S**T Dude!!! Cannot Believe This!!!"

The Burger King employee exclaimed, "THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For Even Watching the Video! I Love You My Brother!!! Much Love and God Bless. ... I think [I] might be able to take a day off."

Spade replied, "Wait till year 30."

Ford joked, "Damn, are you one of my managers???"

Burger King issued a statement regarding the viral video, "The Burger King brand and its many franchisees nationwide are committed to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the thousands of people serving across a wide range of roles — all dedicated to providing our guests a world-class experience."

"Following review with this location's franchisee, we've learned that this video depicts a Team Member in receipt of a peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience," Burger King told People magazine. "The franchisee offers its Team Members a robust employee recognition program, which includes the recognition of tenure milestones and monetary awards."

In an interview with YouTube personality Sierra Nicole, the gracious Ford thanked everyone for the support.

"I just want to say thanks to everybody out there. It's just so overwhelming," Ford said. "I'm just Kevin, you know. I just love everybody. I think that it probably touched people because I think we as humans, period, just need love and gratitude. And when you see someone like that, you know, ... I was happy to get anything. Some people got nothing, so I was just happy to get anything."

At the time of publication, the GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $63,000. He told TMZ that he may use the money to buy a new hybrid vehicle so that he can visit his daughters and grandchildren in Texas.
