Trump-Kamala debate: ‘Partisan hackery disguised as journalism’ on full display

The debate between former president Donald Trump and Kamala Harris has been poured over since it happened — but Megyn Kelly and Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” have a fresh take on the ABC production.

Especially considering Kelly has moderated presidential debates in the past.

“What I saw on Tuesday night, it was a horrid display of attempted journalism. It was faux journalism; it was partisan hackery disguised as journalism,” Kelly tells Rubin.

“And David Muir there is a perfect example. His fact-check was an opinion,” she continues. “There were so many instances in which he tried to fact-check Trump in a totally inappropriate way.”

Muir attempted to “fact-check” Trump regarding his claims about Haitians eating pets in Springfield, Ohio, where he claimed that after speaking with the “city manager, no verifiable claims” had been made.

“That’s not a fact-check,” Kelly says. “That’s not a refutation. That’s a he said, she said. And it’s not for David Muir to be the trier of fact in the moment from the debate stage. If anything, that’s for Kamala Harris to try to say.”

Rubin is in total agreement.

“Maybe we’re just so far down the rabbit hole with these people, there’s nothing left for them to hide. But you would think that they would at least pretend to be impartial,” he tells Kelly.

“That was them pretending,” Kelly comments, disturbed.

Trump appears to say he will not debate again because he won against Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump appeared to say there will be no more debates between himself and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris because he won their first debate.

'She and Crooked Joe have destroyed our Country.'

Trump had previously suggested he would refuse another debate, but he made his decision more clear on Thursday on social media.

"Polls clearly show that I won the Debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate," said the former president on Truth Social.

"THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!" he wrote.

The candidates hammered away at each other during the ABC debate the moderators of which were accused of being biased in favor of Harris. Trump called Harris a Marxist while Harris baited Trump into talking about reports that Haitian immigrants were eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. Trump also appeared to make a veiled reference to Harris' salacious past.

The Harris-Walz campaign had called for another debate immediately after their first while declaring Harris as the victor.

Elsewhere in the statement, the former president excoriated the policies of the Biden-Harris administration.

"She and Crooked Joe have destroyed our Country, with millions of criminals and mentally deranged people pouring into the USA, totally unchecked and unvetted, and with Inflation bankrupting our Middle Class. Everyone knows this, and all of the other problems caused by Kamala and Joe," he added.

‘I have never seen as many lies in any debate’: Why the Harris-Trump ABC debate was a DISASTER

The first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was painful to watch, and it has very little to do with Trump’s performance — and a lot to do with Kamala and the ABC moderators.

“I have never seen as many lies in any debate, maybe multiple debates combined,” Glenn tells the BlazeTV panel, adding, “The moderators were completely useless.”

Both moderators interrupted Trump multiple times to argue or “fact-check” him, while Kamala went unscathed.

“She looked at Donald Trump with absolute disdain, she couldn’t even hide it,” Glenn continues. “I think overall it’s not going to change anybody’s mind. If you were voting for Donald Trump, you’re still going to vote for Donald Trump.”

Kamala routinely laughed, smiled, and nodded condescendingly while Trump spoke, which Glenn thinks will appeal to low information voters who think “she’s going to end all of this division.”

“They’re doing exactly the same thing they did with Joe Biden. ‘He’s a moderate, he’s going to bring us back to normalcy.’ That’s what they’re doing again and I think in a very effective way for stupid, uninformed people. And that’s the campaign they’re running,” Glenn says.

Sara Gonzales of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” agrees.

“I would say it was a disgusting production but a very valiant effort by the ABC moderators to try to push Kamala and give her every opportunity that they could,” Gonzales says, noting that Project 2025 was brought up as Trump’s policies — when that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“Nowhere did they fact check her on that,” she says. “She said no question Trump will sign a federal abortion ban, which is just funny, it’s laughable, because he gets hit from the left on that and while he’s getting hit from the right about not being pro-life enough.”

Kamala also claimed she wouldn’t ban fracking, which she has stated many times in the past that she would ban fracking.

“So you just see what turned out to just be a three-on-one pile on,” Gonzales says. “It turned into a character assassination back and forth.”

Stu Burguiere's REACTION to last night’s debate: 'A mixed bag'

Last night, ABC hosted the first and highly anticipated debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

According to Stu Burguiere, “there’s a lot of room to be critical” of everyone.

Although it’s certainly not what we had hoped for, “[Kamala] did clear those hurdles,” says Stu.

“I don't think she's a good candidate, but I think she was able to convince people who want to be convinced,” he admits.

Unfortunately, “it wasn't the best night for Donald Trump. I don't think he achieved all the things he wanted to achieve, but I also say it was a tough night. He really was going up against three people,” says Stu, noting that in Trump’s debate against Biden, “both Bash and Tapper were fair,” but in last night’s debate, the moderators were clearly Team Kamala.

Stu points to how David Muir and Linsey Davis were “blatantly biased” by “not even letting him respond to the accusations.”

Harris’ performance multiplied by the moderators’ obvious bias likely resulted in “the number of people who were definitely Kamala … [increasing].”

Despite the debate, Stu still holds that Trump is likely to continue to be “favored” as “he has the better arguments” overall.

“If he can run a disciplinedcampaign, he can win,” he says.

IBM vice chairman says stock sell-off is a response to debate, criticizes lack of detail in Harris economic plan

IBM Vice Chairman Gary Cohn said that a market sell-off on Wednesday was partly in response to the presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Cohn made the comments while appearing on CNBC after the Dow Jones index fell by 1.6% early in the trading day.

'I know she has a plan; I don't know what's in her plan.'

"Yes, it's a factor. I think people will look at last night's debate and they will exaggerate the effect that it will have and they will exaggerate what they think a candidate can or cannot get done," said Cohn.

"I think that when you start understanding the reality of how difficult it is to change policy, you might reflect differently. But the knee-jerk reaction coming out of last night's debate, and I don't care which side you're on, whichever candidate you support," he continued.

"I think there are a lot of people who are having those reactions today," he added. "And I think that's very far from the reality of getting legislation, and getting laws passed, and ending up with a new economic environment, or a new tax environment, or a new regulatory environment, or a new tariff environment."

Cohn went on to say that there is a "very high probability" that Republicans win the U.S. Senate and that will be a check on Harris, should she win the presidency.

"She will have to get Republican votes to change tax policy. I don't think Republicans are lining up to vote for higher corporate taxes. I don't think they're lining up to vote for tax on unrealized gains. I don't think they're lining up to vote for a lot of increases in capital gains taxes," said Cohn.

"There probably are some compromises in the middle," he added, referring to his time as national economic adviser for Trump. "There were places where the Democrats would have met the Republican Party. So there's always a place for a deal to get done."

He also appeared to mock Harris for leaving out the details in her economic plans while claiming that she does indeed have a plan for Americans.

"She has a plan. I know she has a plan. OK? I know she has a plan," Cohn said. "I don't know what's in her plan."

Cohn, however, also agreed with others that the short-lived sell-off was also due to new economics data showing higher-than-expected inflation in August. The indices later recovered from their lows into positive territory Wednesday.

The interview with Cohn can be seen on CNBC's YouTube account.

'She's a Marxist!' Trump hammers extremist policies of Kamala Harris during first debate: 'She has destroyed our country.'

Former President Donald Trump lambasted Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for her extremist policies in their first debate since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

Trump ripped into Harris after noting that she had simply copied text from Biden's economic plan on her official presidential campaign webpage.

'Look at these millions and millions of people that are pouring into our country.'

“Everything that she believed three years ago and four years ago is out the window. She’s going to my philosophy now. In fact, I was going to send her a MAGA hat. She’s gone to my philosophy, but if she ever got elected, she’d change it and it will be the end of our country," he said.

Harris appeared to smirk at the joke while Trump continued.

"She's a Marxist. Everybody knows she's a Marxist! Her father is a Marxist professor in economics, and he told her well," he added.

"When you look at what she's done to our country and when you look at these millions and millions of people that are pouring into our country," Trump added. "She has destroyed our country with policy that's insane, almost policy that you’d have to say, they hate our country."

He went on to blame Harris for the immigration crisis that has allowed millions of illegal aliens to pour across the U.S.-Mexico border and damaged the economies of major cities.

Video of the criticism was posted to social media, where it was widely circulated.

Harris and Trump are meeting in their first debate at the National Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

‘I’m speaking’: Why Kamala is TERRIFIED of muted mics in a debate with Trump

As the September 10 presidential debate looms closer, Kamala Harris can’t stop challenging the ABC debate rules.

Former President Donald Trump has announced that he’s fine with the set rules, writing on Truth Social that “the rules will be the same as the last CNN debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone.”

The rules will be close to the terms used by CNN for the June 27 debate, which includes that microphones will be muted as the other candidate speaks and no studio audience will be present.

However, Harris doesn’t want the muted mic.

“On the one side, you have Harris claiming we need to change the rules, there’s a live mic, and the Trump campaign right now saying, 'No, we’re not going to change the rules,'” Blaze Media editor in chief Matthew Peterson explains.

Center for American Liberty founder and Trump campaign surrogate Harmeet Dhillon believes this is telling of Kamala’s strategy.

“What it does tell you very clearly is that Kamala Harris intends to rely on gimmicks to get herself past this debate. I'm sure it terrifies her to sit down with or stand up with and have to debate the master of debating in this particular format,” Dhillon tells Jill Savage and Peterson.

“In this case, what she wants with the open mic is to be able to do her tired girl boss trope, to interrupt him when he makes a comment about her and say, ‘I’m speaking, it’s my turn, I’m claiming my time,’ whatever platitude you want to plug in there,” Dhillon explains.

“She’s also relying on having to need notes, be seated,” she continues, noting that Kamala also likely wants to have her “comfort governor Tim Walz” around to “help her out and hold her hand.”

“No, she’s a big girl, and the president of the United States is expected to stand toe to toe with the worst despots, demagogues, dictators, and evil people in the world. And they have to be able to do that without crutches, without gimmicks, without props, and without calling a lifeline,” she adds.

Corey Lewandowski says media protects Kamala Harris but that Trump will expose her in debate just as he exposed Biden

Trump campaign senior official Corey Lewandowski told Glenn Beck that former President Donald Trump would use a debate to expose Vice President Kamala Harris, just as he exposed President Joe Biden.

Lewandowski made the comments while being interviewed by Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, on his radio show Tuesday. Beck asked him to comment on Harris' lack of experience and policy prescriptions when Lewandowski said she would be exposed at the upcoming debate.

'She wants to change all the rules here, because she's afraid to debate Donald Trump.'

"Nobody honestly believes her idea was no tax on tips. Right? Nobody believes that she is actually for the border wall. Nobody believes that she doesn't think Biden economics is what the process is going forward.People do believe, and they should, that she wants to have price controls. She is a Marxist, on a good day," he said.

"The problem is the media has covered for her, just like they covered for Joe Biden's cognitive decline, until the American people saw it with their own eyes when he went on the debate stage," Lewandowski said. "And they're gonna see it with Kamala when she has to debate Donald Trump."

He went on to criticize Harris for trying to change the rules of the debate that Trump had agreed to previously with Biden.

"Glenn, you know this. She wants to sit down to the debate. She wants to bring notes to the debate. She wants to have a hot mic on the debate so she can say, 'I'm speaking, let me finish, Mr. Trump,' which is the business that she pulled last time," he continued.

"We have already agreed to the rules of the debate," Lewandowski continued. "She won't do a Fox News debate. She wants to change all the rules here, because she's afraid to debate Donald Trump."

Lewandowski was briefly the manager for Trump's 2016 campaign and was brought back on as a senior adviser for the 2024 election.

Here's the video of Lewandowski's comments:
