Burglar naked from waist down stands over sleeping couple's bed, says 'shoot me' when ordered to leave. Husband complies.

A burglar who was naked from the waist down stood over the bed of a sleeping husband and wife and said "shoot me" when he was ordered to leave the residence in north St. Louis County, Missouri.

Indeed, the burglar's wish was the husband's command.

St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell said in a statement to KDSK that 'Missouri law clearly provides homeowners with the right to protect themselves, particularly while on their property.'

Cedric Marshall, 47, walked through the couple's unlocked back door in the Hanley Hills area around 5 a.m. last Tuesday, KDSK-TV reported, citing court documents.

"Mr. Marshall then stood over the husband and wife while he was half naked and that awoke the homeowners," Maj. Ron Martin with the North County Police Cooperative told the station. More specifically, Marshall was naked from the waist down, KMOV-TV reported.

The husband "ordered him to leave," KDSK reported, citing court documents.

But Marshall "lunged at the homeowner and stated you'll have to shoot me," KDSK added, citing court document.

Police told KDSK when the two men struggled, the homeowner shot Marshall once in his chest.

KMOV, citing charging documents, noted that the suspect fell to the floor saying, “Alright, man, don’t shoot me no more,” according to charging documents.

Police told KMOV the victim ordered Marshall out of the house again, and he complied. According to KDSK, Marshall — who weighs 225 pounds — collapsed in the family's backyard.

Police responded to the 7900 block of Bloom Drive to investigate the reported home invasion and shooting, KMOV said, adding that officers found Marshall in the backyard suffering from a gunshot wound.

Maj. Martin in reference to Marshall told KDSK that "we found his pants on their porch."

Neither the couple nor their 5- and 10-year-old children were hurt, KDSK reported, adding that Marshall left a blood trail inside the couple's home.

Investigators at the time didn't know why the suspect — who lives about six miles away in Wellston — targeted that family's home, KDSK said.

St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell said in a statement to KDSK that "Missouri law clearly provides homeowners with the right to protect themselves, particularly while on their property."

Marshall was hospitalized, KDSK reported.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Marshall with first-degree burglary and misdemeanor assault, KMOV reported. He was being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond, KDSK noted.

Widow of former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield — who died just 5 months ago of cancer — dies at 53, reportedly also of cancer

Stacy Wakefield — widow of former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, who died just five months ago of cancer — also has died of cancer, WCVB-TV reported.

She was 53, the Associated Press reported, citing online records.

"It is with deep sadness that we share that our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt, Stacy, passed away today at her home in Massachusetts," read a statement from the Wakefield family, which the Red Sox posted Wednesday to X. "She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, as well as her wonderful caretakers and nurses. The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken."

Stacy Wakefield died of pancreatic cancer, USA Today reported. Tim Wakefield was 57 when he died Oct. 1 of brain cancer. WCVB said Tim Wakefield at the time of his illness was caring for his wife after her diagnosis.

Stacy and Tim Wakefield are survived by their children, Trevor and Brianna, the station said.

More from WCVB:

Stacy worked alongside her husband in raising money for multiple charitable groups, including the Red Sox Foundation. The couple also worked with The Jimmy Fund, raising funds for the childhood cancer charity and visiting with pediatric cancer patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

"We're just so fortunate at The Jimmy Fund to sort of have this family in our lives forever, and the legacy that they leave is their children," Lisa Scherber, Dana-Farber's director of patient and family programs, said of Stacy and Tim Wakefield.

The Wakefields were also frequent visitors at Franciscan Children's Hospital.

"They were both such kind, caring, and genuine people, often lending their time to visit with our patients and families, raise funds for our programs and services, and spend days at Fenway with 'Wakefield’s Warriors.' We are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to spend time with Stacy and Tim over the years, and our thoughts are with their children and families at this time," said Joe Mitchell, President of Franciscan Children's Hospital in Boston.

Tim Wakefield, a knuckleballer, played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball — his first two for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the rest for the Red Sox. Wakefield helped the Red Sox win two World Series championships in 2004 and 2007.

A 2005 Boston Globe story about evangelical Christians on the Red Sox noted that Wakefield said he ''accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior" in 1990.

Wife tells husband a male intruder is in their home; husband grabs gun, confronts him. Amid altercation, husband shoots intruder dead.

A Florida man fatally shot an intruder early Tuesday morning in the Lynn Haven home he shares with his wife and child, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies told WMBB-TV.

What are the details?

Around 6 a.m. the wife told her husband about the intruder inside their home in the 1400 block of North Bay Drive, the station said.

The sheriff's office said the intruder was a male.

With that, the husband grabbed a gun and confronted the intruder, WMBB added.

Deputies told the station that amid an altercation between the husband and the intruder, the husband fatally shot the man.

The husband and wife and their child are all safe, deputies noted the WMBB.

The sheriff's office added that they are investigating the shooting — but officials told WMBB in a separate story that the homeowner acted in self-defense, and no charges have been filed in the case.

A WMBB reporter said in a video about the incident that the husband reportedly shot the intruder twice.

In addition, the sheriff's office added that it doesn't appear that any other person was involved in the incident, and there is no danger to other neighborhood residents.

Who was the alleged intruder?

The alleged intruder has been identified as 23-year-old Aaron Mravic-Lollie, WMBB noted.

Investigators said the homeowner did not know Mravic-Lollie, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the station added.

How are folks reacting?

Commenters sounded off underneath the Facebook post from the sheriff's office about the incident and seemed decidedly relieved and pleased that the homeowner exercised his Second Amendment rights. The following are but a few takes:

  • "PSA — some of us understand the Castle laws and how to castle up," one commenter wrote. "For the crooks ... make better choices. If you don't, chances are you are not going to get the outcome you had hoped for."
  • "Another good 2nd Amendment story!" another commenter said.
  • "The libturd Dumocrats will try to have this homeowner charged, but thankfully that won't happen because we live in FLORIDA where common sense prevails and libturdism doesn't prevail!!" another commenter declared.
  • "It doesn't sound like the suspicious stranger will be back for another surprise visit," another commenter stated.
