Family-friendly program allows some Nevada state employees to bring their babies to work

Pro-life and pro-family advocates are celebrating a new program at the Nevada State Treasurer's Office that will allow employees to bring their babies to work with them.

Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine first announced the Infant to Work program about a month ago, arguing that the policy will benefit new parents and the workforce as a whole. "It’s no secret that Nevada is facing a high number of vacancies for State positions," Conine said at the time. "Through this new pilot program, the Treasurer’s Office will do its best to support new and expectant parents, while also creating an environment that supports working families."

To participate in the program, interested employees at the treasurer's office must alert their supervisor, who will then coordinate with the employee to make the necessary accommodations for parent and infant safety. New moms and dads can then continue to bring their babies to work until the child reaches six months of age.

Though Infant to Work is a new program for state treasury employees, the initiative actually began with the state's Division of Child and Family Services and then expanded to five other divisions of the state's Department of Health and Human Services — with promising results. More than 170 employees have participated in the program since it first began.

Itzel Fausto, who works for the state treasury, expressed her appreciation for the added time she spent with her daughter, Diamond. "It is a blessing to bring your infant to work," Fausto said. "I get emotional talking about it because it feels like not everyone gets a chance to do that. So being able to bond with your baby longer instead of having to take her to daycare is just amazing."

Fausto's experience is exactly what the departments were hoping for when they decided to enact the new policy. According to a state website designed to help Nevada businesses "become healthier places to work," programs like Infant to Work encourage employees to take shorter child-related leave; attract better employees and increase retention rates; minimize child care costs; promote parent/child bonding, especially through breastfeeding; and improve overall morale.

Such programs are especially important for Nevada women, Live Action claimed, because the state does not offer paid maternity leave. Instead, women utilize sick leave, short-term disability, and some unpaid-leave required under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act.

However, Nevada fathers are also enjoying the program as well. "Seeing my daughter's face every day made every day worthwhile," said Theron Huntamer. "She brightened the day of everyone in the workplace. Looking back, I can’t imagine not having this time with her. This program is an amazing incentive, while forging a bond that lasts a lifetime."

Stacey Abrams posts 'Future Governor' meme, and people are comparing it to Hillary Clinton's notorious 'Happy Birthday to this future president' post from 2016

A bit less than six years ago, then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton posted a childhood photo on social media and declared, "Happy birthday to this future president" — the post did not age well, as Clinton went on to lose the 2016 contest to Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Well, this week, Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is running to defeat incumbent Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp during the Peach State's 2022 gubernatorial contest, posted a meme featuring a childhood photo along with the message "Little Miss Future Governor Of The Great State of Georgia," and people have pointed out the similarity between Abrams' recent post and Clinton's 2016 post.

"Same vibe. Same result," Erick Erickson tweeted.

"Same posts. Same inevitable outcome," tweeted Ryan Saavedra of the Daily Wire.

"Same energy," Republican National Committee director of strategic communications Gates McGavick tweeted.

"Stacey Abrams just pulled a Hillary Clinton lol. I'm dead," someone else tweeted.

Commenting about Abrams' meme, X Strategies digital strategist Logan Hall tweeted, "hillary 2.0."

"I am literally begging Democrats to stop posting childhood pictures of themselves with 'future [political office that they’re seeking]' captions. It will always end badly," tweeted Abigail Marone, press secretary for GOP Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri.

Abrams included the phrase "A few facts" on the social media posts, and also shared several other memes. One photo featured Abrams holding a gay pride flag in one hand and a transgender flag in the other — text on the photo read, "Little Miss One Georgia For All." Another picture of Abrams included text that said, "Little Miss Yale Trained Tax Attorney."

Abrams previously lost the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election to Brian Kemp. Clinton backed Abrams in 2018 and has expressed support for Abrams during this election cycle as well. "I'm with @StaceyAbrams. Are you?" Clinton tweeted last year.

Leftist says she has questions for white people who claim to support racial justice yet still have good relationships with most of their family members

Rewire News Group senior vice president and executive editor Jessica Mason Pieklo posted a tweet on Wednesday declaring that she has questions for white people who claim to support racial justice but also have good relationships with most of their relatives.

"Honestly if you're a white person who says they're committed to racial justice and you're in good standing with most your family I have *questions* for you and they are definitely pointed," Pieklo tweeted. "Full disclosure I’m in contact with exactly three members of my birth and extended family for this specific reason," she added.

— Jessica Mason Pieklo (@Jessica Mason Pieklo) 1657161034

"That first question is how committed are you, really," she wrote. "Even the good white families are a *scosh* racist when you scratch the surface," she claimed.

Inez Stepman of the Independent Women's Forum tweeted, "This is sick and twisted and makes a mockery of family and loyalty."

"Are leftists unaware of history when it comes to their kind advocating for followers to alienate family, do they just not care, or do they actually believe it serves a good outcome?" Daily Caller editor-in-chief Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted.

"White people love to tell other white people how to not be racist and like y'all can stop doing that. Nobody is keeping score for how not racist you are. You don't get a good grade in not being racist. Focus on your own s[***]," someone else wrote.

Leftists have been up in arms about a Supreme Court decision that enables states to ban abortions — in a piece posted last month, Pieklo described the high court's decision as "catastrophic for millions of people in this country, for the rule of law, and our democracy."

"We're officially living in a post-Roe world," Pieklo wrote. "Knowing this day would come doesn’t make the reality any easier to process. It’s tough. It’s dark. But as trite as this may sound so soon after such a devastating loss of autonomy and humanity at the Supreme Court, the fight is far from over—and I, for one, am going nowhere until it’s finished."

Actress Jessica Biel mocked for Instagram post preferring France on women's rights

Hollywood actress Jessica Biel was mocked and ridiculed for ignorantly praising France on women's rights over the U.S. in an Instagram post.

Biel posted an image of her and her husband singer Justin Timberlake in Paris on her official social media account where she appeared to praise France for having "Women's Rights."

"You have croissants AND Women's Rights? Damn, take me back!" Biel wrote.

The post from the actress was circulated on Twitter with mockery and ridicule because France has more restrictive laws on abortion than those of many states in the U.S.

"I mean, you have the internet right? Google? Perhaps check before posting," read one tweet.

"Poor clueless @JessicaBiel .... if they are THAT STUPID... they should have their publicists post for them on social media!" read another response.

"Guessing @JessicaBiel is dumber than she looks," said another detractor.

"Leave. Nobody is stopping you. Furthermore, abortion is extremely restricted after 14 weeks in France but in Cali, where I’m sure you live, you can murder a baby up until birth. But you wouldn’t know that because you’re a brainless, talentless moron," replied another critic.

Others pointed out that France has passed laws against Islamic women wearing religious veils, which many on the left see as an assault on women's rights.

Biel made her support for abortion rights very clear soon after the Supreme Court overturned the landmark abortion decision Roe vs. Wade.

"I am enraged. What happened today is not only a disgusting step backward for women - undermining our ability to make decisions for our own bodies… but it’s also dangerous," she tweeted at the time.

— Jessica Biel (@Jessica Biel) 1656089299

"You didn’t ban abortion, you banned access to SAFE abortion," she claimed.

She also made headlines in 2019 when she came out against California's vaccine law alongside Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Texas state lawmaker says he will propose bill to protect children from being exposed to drag queen performances

Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton has pledged to put forward legislation to protect children from being exposed to drag queen performances.

On Saturday, the Mr. Misster bar in Dallas held a drag event that had been advertised as "fit for guests of all ages." Disturbing video footage shows that children were present at the event.

"Mr. Misster's Drag The Kids To Pride Drag Show provides the ultimate family friendly pride experience. This signature event is a family friendly spin off of our famed Champagne Drag Brunch, with our resident DJ Charlie Phresh playing some of your favorite hits while host Nicole O'Hara Munro brings together some of the best drag entertainers around!" a description on Eventbrite stated.

In a statement, Slaton said, "The events of this past weekend were horrifying and show a disturbing trend in which perverted adults are obsessed with sexualizing young children. As a father of two young children, I would never take my children to a drag show and I know [Texas House] Speaker Dade Phelan and the rest of my Republican colleagues wouldn't either. Protecting our own children isn't enough, and our responsibility as lawmakers extends to the sexualization that is happening across Texas."

"I promised my voters that I would stand up for their values and fight to protect Texas kids. I was re-elected on that promise and I intend to keep it by authoring legislation to defend kids from being subjected to drag shows and other inappropriate events. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this important legislation," Slaton said.

Democratic state Rep. Jessica González responded on Twitter, taking issue with the proposal and calling for gun control.

"This isn't about protecting children, it's about further censoring the LGBTQ+ community and taking more rights away from parents. Let's actually protect children by passing common-sense gun control," González tweeted.

Last month, a deadly shooting perpetrated at a school in Uvalde, Texas, left 19 children and two teachers dead.

"It's sad that this is an apparent priority in a state where 19 children were just murdered," NBC Los Angeles reporter Alex Rozier tweeted in response to Slaton's post.

'Milk’s favorite cookie' panned after going all in with woke LGBT coming-out ad: 'Your cookie must affirm your sexual lifestyle'

Oreo prompted conservatives on Twitter to roll their eyes this week after double-dipping into the world of hot-button socio-political issues yet again with a new ad urging people to be lifelong supporters of the LGBT lifestyle.

What are the details?

The two-and-a-half-minute short film, called "The Note," featured a young Asian man nervously reading a coming-out note to his immediate family as he prepares to share the news of his sexuality with his extended family.

The tense scene concludes with the young man's mother encouraging her dispirited son. "She might be my mother, but you are my son," she adds to the bottom of the note.

"Coming out doesn’t happen just once. It’s a journey that needs love and courage every step of the way,” Oreo said in a tweet along with the video, adding, "Share our new film and let someone know you’re their #LifelongAlly."

— OREO Cookie (@OREO Cookie) 1649073601

It's not the first time that "milk's favorite cookie" has delved into political waters. Earlier this year, the Nabisco brand inserted itself into the national conversation around transgender issues when it tweeted, "Trans people exist." Before that, it released another short film about a lesbian couple coming out to parents.

To onlookers, it seems that the company prides itself on being outspoken on issues completely unrelated to cookies.

But in an interview with Fast Company, Oreo senior brand manager Olympia Portale insisted the forced marketing message was a "natural place" for the company to go, given its notoriety as a "family brand."

"'The Note' is not Oreo’s story," she explained, though going on to say, "Oreo is there to lend our megaphone to the community we want to support. To illustrate the message we, as a brand, want to stand behind is a great place to start."

How are people reacting?

Conservatives on Twitter and elsewhere responded with chagrin after being force-fed the woke messaging.

"Sexuality has NOTHING TO DO with the cookie experience," tweeted Newsmax host Greg Kelly. "Basically cookies are 'asexual' — why is the WOKE LEFT messing around with OREOS?!?! STOP THE INSANITY."

COOKIE! I love COOKIES. C is for COOKIE. COOKIE IS FOR ME. I do NOT like GAY COOKIES. "Sexuality" has NOTHING TO DO with the Cookie experience. Cookies are for ALL! Basically Cookies are "asexual"---why is the WOKE LEFT messing around with OREOS?!?! STOP THE INSANITYpic.twitter.com/TS3k5M4LQv

"What on earth does this have to do with cookies?" added Tommy Joe Ratliff.

Blaze Media's Jessica O'Donnell quipped: "Finally this ad is made. I wasn’t sure what to do. I felt so guilty eating a cookie because I wasn’t sure what its stance on LGBT issues was."

LiveAction's Lila Rose stated, "Stop sexualizing children, @oreo."

"Your cookie must affirm your sexual lifestyle," the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro said. "Again, the chief reply here seems to be: 'How dare you notice that a cookie company is now running ads on sexual orientation?' Guys, the story is that every woke corporation now believes it must become an activist LGBTQIA+-%6& outlet. And yes, that's a story."

Writing for the Daily Signal, columnist Nicole Russell asserted, "LGBT activists complain about being caught in the middle of the culture war, even as they fuel the controversy at every turn, even rendering cookies like Oreos woke."

Actress dragged over ABSURD ode to Vladimir Putin: 'Forget Ukraine. Send ground troops to Hollywood'

AnnaLynne McCord‘s cringeworthy poem apologizing to Russian President Vladimir Putin for not being his mother — because if he had been lovingly raised by a Hollywood celeb he would never have invaded Ukraine, of course — is not getting quite the response the "90210" actress was probably expecting.

There's really no describing the awfulness of this video, so you'll just have to try to watch for yourself:

Hollywood actor slammed for xenophobic tweet mocking Melania Trump's accent

Actor Tim Matheson faced swift backlash after insulting Melanie Trump over her foreign accent that some deemed to be "xenophobic." The 73-year-old Hollywood actor, who is best known for his role as Eric "Otter" Stratton in the movie "National Lampoon's Animal House," tried to tweet his way out of trouble for ridiculing the former first lady.

While delivering a compliment to first lady Jill Biden, Matheson took a shot at Melania, who grew up in Slovenia before leaving for Italy after she signed a contract with a modeling agency in Milan at age 18.

In the since-deleted tweet, Matheson wrote, "So wonderful to have a First Lady with class and heart. And, can speak English!"

— Siraj Hashmi in Gitmo (@Siraj Hashmi in Gitmo)1611371747.0

Matheson attempted to smooth over the degrading affront against Melania by saying, "This morning I made a hasty and stupid joke about the former First Lady. It wasn't funny, and it was in poor taste. It was regretful and humorless and I apologize."

— Tim Matheson (@Tim Matheson)1611358913.0

However, Twitter users pointed out that Matheson also deleted a previous tweet where he doubled-down on maligning Melania.

"Comedy is sometimes cruelly honest," the thespian maintained. "The ex-First Lady doesn't have any of my respect for anything. Sorry."

@Tim_Matheson and then reinforced it https://t.co/YV47dYoqwQ
— Jessica O’Donnell (@Jessica O’Donnell)1611360713.0

Matheson, who played Vice President John Hoynes on the TV drama "The West Wing," was shellacked with retribution from online commenters over his denigratory jab.

One Twitter user replied, "It's because you're an out of touch actor no surprise. Stay ignorant ya racist."

Another person burst out, "You're a xenophobe and bigot. Your comments open yourself and any company you work for to discrimination lawsuits. I hope your victims of workplace harassment and discrimination come forward."

A son of immigrants schooled the actor, "Tim, my parents were doctors in Cuba who came to the US escaping Castro. After years of hard work they got their MD's again and practiced for 30 years. Still, throughout their professional lives here there were always fools like you who mocked their accents."

One critic added, "Yeah, showing your true colors. Love immigrants until they get here and become Americans and don't think the way you think they should and then you loathe them."

This isn't the first time a liberal Hollywood actor attacked Melania over her accent. Bette Midler bashed the former first lady in August for Melania's speech during the Republican National Convention.

"#beBest is back! A UGE bore! She can speak several words in a few languages. Get that illegal alien off the stage!" Middler mocked Melania. "Oh, God. She still can't speak English."

Middler was also smashed with backlash for her xenophobia.

Middler then attempted to justify the hateful remarks by saying, "Just giving them a taste of their own immigrant bashing medicine."

Following even more outrage, Middler finally bent the knee and mustered up an apology.

"Well, all hell has broken loose because I said Melania 'still can't speak English' last night," she tweeted. "I was wrong to make fun of her accent. America is made up people who speak with all kinds of accents, and they are all welcomed always."
