Fox News reporter puts MSNBC hosts in their place for mocking voters worried about border crisis: 'Laugh ... at your own risk'

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin schooled three MSNBC hosts on Wednesday for mocking voters who are concerned about immigration and the border crisis.

Exit polls conducted on Super Tuesday showed that immigration is the top concern for Republican voters in Virginia. In fact, it is a top issue for voters nationwide, even surpassing the economy in some exit polls. This is not breaking news unless you live under a rock because the border crisis has been a national story for years. But that didn't stop MSNBC hosts Jen Psaki, Rachel Maddow, and Joy Reid from ridiculing these voters over their concerns.

During MSNBC's election-night coverage, Psaki read the exit poll data, Reid laughed, and Maddow outright mocked the voters.

"If you look at some of these exit polls — I mean, I live in Virginia — immigration was the number one issue," Psaki said to Reid's laughter.

"Well, Virginia does have a border with West Virginia. Very contested area," Maddow mocked.

"But you're thinking like: WHAT?!" Psaki added.

At first, Melugin responded to the trio of MSNBC hosts by pointing to the recent arrest of an illegal immigrant who is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Virginia.

"Two weeks ago, in Virginia, an illegal alien from Venezuela was arrested & charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Campbell County, VA. He had crossed illegally into El Paso, TX, in September 2023 and was released into the U.S. by the federal government," he wrote on social media.

Then Melugin explained on "Fox and Friends" why the MSNBC hosts' reaction demonstrates how out of touch they are with normal Americans.

"Talk about out of touch— listening to them giggle and laugh and joke," Melugin said.

"We've been down there the last three years, and we've watched as this issue has taken over the entire country. It's no longer just Arizona, California, Texas, New Mexico — look what's happened to the sanctuary cities," he explained. "Look what's happened ever since Gov. [Greg] Abbott started busing [migrants] around the country. Ask Laken Riley's parents if the border and immigration is something to giggle about. It just shows a massive, massive out-of-touch moment."

After noting that exit polls prove immigration is a top issue, Melugin issued a warning to the naysayers.

"Laugh at it at your own risk. The voters will have their say in November," he said.

Jen Psaki issued direct challenge over her viral attempt to defend Democrats on abortion

MSNBC host Jen Psaki was issued a challenge on Wednesday after she claimed that "no one" supports limitless abortion.

Abortion was the most-discussed topic of the GOP presidential primary debate, according to the New York Times, and the candidates clashed over whether they would support a nationwide ban on abortion. That debate aside, the candidates agreed that Democrats go too far on abortion, and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) reiterated his position that Democrats want "to allow abortion all the way up to the moment of birth."

But that's not true, claimed Psaki, the former White House press secretary.

"No one supports abortion up until birth," she posted on X.

The viral claim received a significant response, and importantly, a direct challenge to Psaki: If that is true — that "no one supports abortion up until birth" — then please, tell the world which specific restrictions on abortion you support.

  • "This is big news! Democrats have apparently changed their position, according to @jrpsaki, since they overwhelmingly voted to allow abortion up until birth last year and @JoeBiden supported it. So, Jen, what restrictions on abortion do Democrats support? Please be specific," Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) asked.
  • "Excellent. Please explain your favored abortion restrictions," Ben Shapiro challenged.
  • "Really? What limitations does your party support?" Fox News Radio host Guy Benson asked.
  • "Please explain at what week of gestation you would support an abortion ban," conservative writer Ed Morrissey asked.
  • "Name one abortion you’d ban. You can’t because your boss insists on allowing all," pro-life advocate Lila Rose responded.

One common objection that defenders of Democrats (like, on Wednesday, Katie Couric) make is that late-term abortions are rare. This is true. But no one is arguing that late-term abortions are common.

Rather, pro-life advocates object to the possibility that elective late-term abortions can happen at all. And this is reality in seven states — Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont — and Washington, D.C., where abortion is legalizedwithout any gestational limit.

Meanwhile, the majority of Democrats in Congress support the Women's Health Protection Act, which would allow abortion beyond fetal viability.

The fact is that most Democrats dodge endorsing abortion restrictions by saying abortion is "a decision between a woman and her doctor." Not supporting restrictions, then, is an endorsement of no restrictions at all.

Poynter writer offers glowing analysis of Jen Psaki, declares that she 'will go down as one of the best to ever hold the title of White House press secretary'

Poynter senior media writer Tom Jones offered a glowing job performance review of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki in a piece on Thursday, declaring that she "will go down as one of the best to ever hold the title of White House press secretary."

Psaki, who has served in the role since the beginning of President Joe Biden's administration, participated in her final White House press briefing on Friday. Karine Jean-Pierre will fill the role going forward.

"Psaki has restored honor, dignity and class to the White House briefing room after four years of Donald Trump press secretaries, who seemed more interested in picking fights and criticizing the media than effectively communicating that administration’s policies and agenda," Jones wrote. "Psaki was consistently prepared, effective in communicating for the president and, even when sparring with media members, always respectful."

"Psaki will go down as one of the best to ever hold the title of White House press secretary. Even when Chris Wallace was at Fox News, a frequent critic of the current administration, he called Psaki one of the best ever."https://www.poynter.org/commentary/2022/jen-psakis-legacy-one-of-the-best-press-secretaries-ever/\u00a0\u2026

"Psaki was certainly a welcome change from her immediate predecessor, Kayleigh McEnany, who goes down as one of the most incompetent press secretaries ever," Jones wrote. McEnany served as White House press secretary during a portion of President Donald Trump's tenure in office.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, who sometimes sparred with Psaki during briefings , posted a photo of himself with Psaki on Friday: "End of an era in the Brady briefing room! Good luck, @jrpsaki," Doocy tweeted.

Last month, Politico quoted a reporter saying that, "Jawing with Jen just makes you look like an asshole."

"Jen [Psaki] is very good at her job, which is unfortunate," the reporter said, according to Politico. "And the work is a lot less rewarding, because you’re no longer saving democracy from Sean Spicer and his Men’s Wearhouse suit. Jawing with Jen just makes you look like an asshole." The outlet did not identify the reporter being quoted. Sean Spicer served as White House press secretary during a portion of the Trump administration.

"Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect and decorum to the White House Briefing Room. I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so," President Biden said in a statement earlier this month.

Jen Psaki slammed as a 'hypocrite' for old Trump tweet amid Biden phone call controversy

An old tweet is haunting White House press secretary Jen Psaki amid the controversy of President Joe Biden's phone call to former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on July 23.

During the 14-minute phone call, Biden suggested that the Taliban were gaining control in Afghanistan. Biden told Ghani that the "perception around the world" of Afghanistan "is that this is looking like a losing proposition," according to the transcript published Tuesday by Reuters.

"And there's a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture," Biden allegedly told Ghani.

During Wednesday's White House press briefing, Psaki was asked to give more details about the phone call between the two leaders. Psaki dodged the question by saying, "Well, I'm not going to get into private diplomatic conversations or leaked transcripts of phone calls."

Psaki then deflected by saying, the "vast majority" didn't anticipate that the "Taliban would be able to take over the country as quickly as they did or that the Afghan National Security Forces would fold as quickly as they did."

Despite saying that she would refuse to discuss a "private" phone call between two world leaders this week, Psaki had a much different stance two years ago regarding a private phone call involving former President Donald Trump.

In 2019, Psaki demanded that the White House release the transcript of the private phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"It is not just the call transcript. The whistleblower complaint would likely have more details. We need both. And not just the call," said Psaki, who was a CNN analyst at the time.

That phone call ultimately led to Trump's impeachment, and he was acquitted in the Senate after five months of investigations and hearings.

In reactions to the old tweet, Psaki was knocked as a "hypocrite."

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) wrote, "Agreed. Release the full transcript of Biden's call with the Afghanistan President."

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) said, "Democrats: Rules for thee, but not for me."

Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) exclaimed, "The same people who demanded 'transparency' from Trump are doing whatever they can to shield Biden. Blatant hypocrisy! Release the full Biden-Ghani phone call script! America deserves the truth!"

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) tweeted, "Jen Psaki won't talk about Biden's phone call because she knows Joe is lying to us."

Republican National Committee co-chairman Tommy Hicks replied, "Hypocrites- the whole lot of 'em."

Former Trump senior counselor Kellyanne Conway remarked, "Roadmap: Jen Psaki shows the way forward on investigating Biden's imperfect phone call asking a foreign leader to lie."

Abigail Marone, press secretary for Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), noted, "Psaki says she's 'not going to get into… leaked call transcripts.' Is that the new standard now? Because I seem to remember a different standard just last year."
