Los Angeles rushes to protect illegal aliens in defiance of Trump's mass deportation plan



In anticipation of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January, the Los Angeles City Council rushed to approve a "sanctuary city" ordinance on Tuesday.

The city council passed the measure in a unanimous vote, with council member Hugo Soto-Martinez (D) calling it "a very clear message" that the city refuses to "cooperate with ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] in any way."

'That's not in the interest of public safety in Los Angeles or California.'

"We want people to feel protected and be able to have faith in their government and that women can report domestic violence, crimes," Soto-Martinez said.

Before the ordinance is enacted, the city council will vote on it one last time. Mayor Karen Bass (D) has the authority to veto the measure but has already been vocal about her support, the Associated Press reported.

"This moment demands urgency. Immigrant protections make our communities stronger and our city better," Bass said.

The news outlet noted that it remains to be seen whether the newly passed ordinance will have any significant impact, given that the Los Angeles Police Department has for decades adhered to Special Order 40, a policy that prevents officers from asking about immigration status or making arrests based on an individual's immigration status.

Additionally, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell has vowed to protect illegal aliens. He told KTTV this week that he can guarantee that his department will not be working with ICE to detain foreign nationals who are unlawfully in the country.

"That's not in our interest to do that. That's not in the interest of public safety in Los Angeles or California," McDonnell claimed.

The state also has sanctuary policies in place to shield illegal immigrants from deportation efforts.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) stated last week that he and other state leaders are working to "Trump-proof" the state.

State Attorney General Rob Bonta said, "I can promise to the undocumented immigrant community in California that I and my team have been thinking about you for months and the harm that might come from the Trump administration 2.0. We'll do everything in our power and use the full authority of our office to defend you."

Tom Homan, the incoming border czar for the Trump administration, has committed to deploying additional ICE agents to sanctuary jurisdictions, aiming to expedite the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants with or without local authorities' cooperation.

"If they're not gonna help us, then we'll just double the manpower in those cities. They don't want ICE agents in their neighborhoods, but they don't let ICE agents in the jail. They don't understand, if you let us in the jail, that'd be less agents in your neighborhood," Homan told "Fox News Live" on Saturday.

You know what they say about karma …

Well, some people don’t, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

For those who don’t remember, about a year ago Mayor Bass complained about Los Angeles' surplus of prisoners.

“It’s really an embarrassment on our country that we have more people locked up in the United States than any place in the world, and if you look at the many, many, many people who are locked up, they're locked up because they're poor, because they can't afford bail, or they can't afford proper legal defense,” she said, adding that “if you dealt with the poverty aspect, you could probably reduce the [incarcerated] population by 50%.”

“She let out all sorts of criminals in L.A.,” says Dave Rubin.

And now, she’s reaping the consequences.

Shortly after the incident, the New York Post released the following report:

As the county’s top prosecutor, Gascón also enacted a series of criminal justice directives since taking office in 2020 that have drawn scorn from opponents and many in law enforcement, such as barring prosecutors from attending parole hearings, promoting zero-cash bail and efforts to end the prosecution of juveniles as adults, even for violent crimes.

“I should note that George Gascón was the DA of San Francisco — the Soros-backed DA … who destroyed San Francisco,” says Dave, adding that what happened to Bass is “kind of a funny story,” especially considering that “no one got hurt.”

“This is how brazen criminals are in L.A.,” adds Spencer Klavan. “They're not afraid of the Los Angeles Police Department. … They know they’re not gonna get prosecuted.”

Violent suspect allegedly breaks into LA mayor's home a week after mayor brags she's 'lowered crime'



Just a week after Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass bragged during the State of the City address that her administration had "lowered crime," a man broke into Bass' home while residents were inside. The suspect in the case is a man with a history of violence.

Around 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, LAPD responded to an alarm at the Getty House, the official residence of the Los Angeles mayor. According to reports, 29-year-old Ephraim Hunter had broken a window to gain entry to the residence and may have even made his way to the second floor of the home before police arrived.

Hunter was reportedly arrested without incident and is expected to be charged with first-degree burglary soon. He remains in custody on a bail of $100,000.

Though Bass was home at the time of the break-in, thankfully, she was not hurt, and no items were stolen.

"Let me just say first of all, I am fine. My family is fine. And we are going to do everything we can to keep Angelenos safe. I believe our budget makes significant contributions and investments toward keeping Angelenos safe," Bass said at a press conference on Monday.

Bass and her family may have been lucky as the suspect in the case has already been convicted of a violent crime in Massachusetts. Back in 2015, Hunter and three others were accused of beating a man unconscious with a hammer and another instrument in a van near Boston.

Hunter, who is originally from Massachusetts, was eventually convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to serve five to seven years. Whether he served his full sentence is unclear. His mother, Josephine Duaa, indicated to the L.A. Times that he had moved to L.A. to get a fresh start but had likely been "smoking" a drug recently and may have become "scared."

"He needs some help," Duaa said. "Somebody please help him; he's gonna lose his mind."

Last week, during her 2024 State of the City address, Bass used the topic of crime to promote her accomplishments while in office. "Violent crime and homicides were down in 2023," she insisted.

"We’ve lowered crime."

She claimed that the reduction in crime was made possible because her administration has focused "on preventing crime and interrupting the cycles of violence."

Two years ago, when Bass was a congresswoman and running for mayor, two men broke into her private residence and stole two firearms. The suspects in the case later pled no contest to burglary and grand theft charges, CNN reported.

Sports Illustrated model leaving California because of out-of-control crime and homeless crisis, tells Newsom to 'take a seat'



A Sports Illustrated model is moving her family out of California because of the state's out-of-control crime and homeless crisis.

Former Sports Illustrated model Kristen Louelle Gaffney and her husband, former NFL running back Tyler Gaffney, are moving their family to Nashville, Tennessee. The husband and wife were both born and raised in California, but the living conditions have become so unbearable that they felt the need to migrate to Nashville for the sake of their three children.

Gaffney said the current state of California is "embarrassing" and "sad."

"I mean we already have the highest taxes, we should arguably have the most beautiful state, the most clean state," she said on "Jesse Watters Primetime." "But instead we have the number one homeless problem in America."

She added, "We're constantly giving. What more do you want from us?"

Earlier this month, a state audit found that California spent $24 billion to combat homelessness over the past five years but didn't consistently track whether the massive outlay of public money actually did anything to improve the issue.

California Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher blamed the Newsom administration.

"This is standard Gavin Newsom – make a splashy announcement, waste a bunch of taxpayer money, and completely fail to deliver," Gallagher told Fox News. "Californians are tired of the homeless crisis, and they’re even more tired of Gavin’s excuses. We need results – period, full stop."

Gaffney noted that San Diego no longer feels safe.

“You know, you come to California to — it is the City of Dreams, the State of Dreams, right? You think this is where I can accomplish anything, but it does not feel safe anymore. I don’t feel safe going to the grocery store. I don’t go anywhere outside, especially in metropolitan areas without my husband with me, and I certainly don’t take my kids into city limits," she said.

Even Karen Bass – the progressive Democrat Mayor of Los Angeles – is not immune to the rampant crime. Her house was broken into early Sunday morning. This is the second time in three years the home of Bass has been broken into.

When asked what she would say to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Gaffney replied, "Take a seat buddy, it's time to let someone else come in clean up the state that you so-called love."

She said Newsom "is fumbling over and over again" in his governance of California.

Gaffney vowed not to bring any Democrat politics with her to the red state of Tennessee.

An analysis of Internal Revenue Service statistics found that California had lost the most income tax revenue in 2021 because of the mass exodus from the state. The research discovered that California had lost approximately $340 million in 2021 IRS tax revenue.

Numerous celebrities have left California in recent years, including Angelina Jolie, Joe Rogan, Sylvester Stallone, Mark Wahlberg, and Scott Baio.
