Democratic whip Katherine Clark's son sprung from jail after allegedly assaulting Boston cop

The "non-binary" son of the No. 2 Democrat in Congress has pleaded not guilty to various charges related to his apparent involvement in a recent bout of violent anti-police extremism.

Jared Dowell, 23, son of House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), was arrested Jan. 21 and charged with assault and battery on a Boston police officer inflicting serious bodily injury, vandalizing a historic monument, damaging property by tagging, and resisting arrest.

On Monday, he was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court and released on a $500 bond.

Dowell and his lawyers scurried out of court after he made his not-guilty plea, refusing to comment except on his preferred name and pronouns, which the court did not bother using, reported the Boston Globe.

TheBlaze previously reported that Boston police had responded to a scene of a leftist disturbance at the Parkman Bandstand Monument in the Boston Common Saturday night, where they allegedly found Democratic Whip Katherine Clark's son vandalizing the monument.

Dowell had allegedly defaced the monument, writing "NO COP CITY" and "ACAB," the latter of which stands for "all cops are bastards."

The monument, constructed in 1908, was also tagged "R.I.P. Tortuguita," referencing Manuel Teran, the leftist militant who shot a Georgia State Patrol trooper last week in the gut.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, officers gave verbal commands to the shooter, who had been trespassing near the new police training center in DeKalb County's South River Forest. Instead of complying, Teran reportedly fired multiple shots at officers without warning.

TheBlaze previously reported that officers answered back with a chorus of gunfire, killing the leftist gunman.

In response to the gunman's demise, the leftist website "Scenes from the Atlanta Forest," whereon local leftists frequently coordinate and celebrate their attacks, published a post demanding retaliation.

"Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies," the post said. "Wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade."

Dowell happened to be in Boston, reportedly in the company of roughly 20 other leftist thugs who were blocking traffic and making a scene.

Police were, however ready for them, having been on high alert "for the possibility of an anti-law enforcement demonstration" linked to the violent extremists in Georgia.

Officers intervened to arrest the son of the Democratic whip and restore order but in the process were reportedly swarmed by other leftist violators, some of whom attempted to interfere with Dowell's arrest.

Conservative radio talk-show host Howie Carr obtained a copy of Dowell's offense report, which indicated that police officers approached Dowell and commanded him to stop. As one officer, a former Marine, "got close to Dowell he attempted to flee by violently flailing his arms, striking the Officer."

"Officer Roca was observed ... to be bleeding from his nose and mouth due to the initial struggle with Dowell," said the report.

Despite Dowell's alleged attack on the police officer and a "brief struggle," other officers were able to place him under arrest.

Clark's son will return to court for a pretrial hearing April 19.

Concerning her son's arrest, Clark, who previously suggested that House Republicans were "extremists," tweeted, "my daughter was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts. I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting."

'Non-binary' son of House Democrat whip who called Republicans 'extremists' charged for attack on Boston police

The No. 2 Democrat in Congress suggested earlier this month that Republicans were "extremists." On Saturday night, her son Jared Dowell was charged with assaulting a Boston police officer amid a wave of Antifa violence.

Leftist extremism

The Boston Police Department noted that around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 21, officers responded to a scene of leftist disturbance at the Parkman Bandstand Monument in the Boston Common.

According to the BPD, officers found the son of House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) vandalizing the monument, writing "NO COP CITY" and "ACAB," the latter of which stands for "all cops are bastards."

Jared Dowell, 23, was not alone, however. Other Antifa thugs were blocking traffic and making a scene.

When officers intervened to arrest the son of the Democratic whip and restore order, a group of 20 leftist violators began "screaming profanities through megaphones" and interfering with Dowell's arrest.

An officer was brutally struck in the face and left "bleeding from the nose and mouth" during the leftists' violent efforts to prevent the arrest, which Dowell is accused of partaking in.

Despite the efforts of the leftist mob, officers were ultimately able to arrest Dowell and charge him with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, destruction of personal property, and damage of property by graffiti/tagging. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

AntifaWatch reported that Dowell appears to run a leftist mutual aid group and has posted about it on anarchist subreddits.

Dowell's apparent antipathy for police may not be an anomaly in his family. After all, his BLM-supporting mother stressed in 2020 that it should be "easier to prosecute" officers.

Clark — the Democrat who reportedly failed to properly disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars in stock trades in 2021 —confirmed that her son, whom she refers to as a "daughter" and calls "Riley," was arrested in Boston, noting that "this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting."

\u201cLast night, my daughter was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts. I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting. \n\nThis will be evaluated by the legal system, and I am confident in that process.\u201d

While apparently reluctant to denounce Antifa's violent attacks on Boston police over the weekend, Clark has previously been quick to accuse her political rivals of fomenting unrest and to warn of violence when politically expedient.

The Democratic minority whip suggested to CNN earlier this month that congressional Republicans were "extremists" and that the fruitful debates concerning the House speakership "endangered our country's national security."

Axios reported that ahead of the midterm elections, Clark claimed that the answer to America's political conflicts "cannot be through division, misinformation and appeals to hate speech and violence," intimating that's what the GOP had on offer.

Dowell's mother tweeted on Nov. 2, "The tolerance of violence and bigotry in our political discourse must end. We are one nation, one community, and we can't allow ourselves to be torn apart by the GOP's campaign of lies, hate and misinformation."

Clark noted in a follow-up tweet, "Violence begets violence. Hate begets hate. When brutality is campaign currency, it is legitimized."

Christina Kulich, an instructor of political science and legal studies at Suffolk University, told Boston.com in December that Clark's new role in Congress means she "will probably spend less time in her district than she was able to before."

It is unclear if less time in her district might mean less time monitoring potential extremism at home or less time addressing family members' "nightmares over concern around climate change."

Democrat claims her child woke up with 'nightmares' over climate change — but no one is buying it

Rep. Katherine Clark, the incoming House minority whip, claimed Sunday that her one of her children awakened from "nightmares" over climate change.

The shameless attempt at virtue-signaling was met swiftly with mockery.

What did Clark say?

The Connecticut Democrat was asked on NBC News' "Meet the Press" how a new generation of leadership will impact the House Democratic caucus.

In response, Clark claimed her children are hyper-aware of climate change and mass shooting attacks.

"Let me tell you what it means to me, coming in as a different generation. I remember my middle child waking up with nightmares over concern around climate change," she said.

"I've had my family at a movie theater, when the movie stopped, my children immediately felt, 'There must be a shooter in the theater with us,'" she claimed. "These are the type of experiences that we are going to bring, as we continue to push to meet this moment of challenge for the American people with progress."

What was the response?

Not only did people not believe Clark, but she was accused of emotional "child abuse" for seemingly having forced her political agenda onto her children.

  • "Are we actually supposed to believe that this happened?" Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) questioned.
  • "If this is true then its because someone is guilty of child abuse given life has never been better on planet earth. Tell your middle child we are in a climate optimum with 1/112th the amount of death per capita from climate as 1930. Thank God and fossil fuels," meteorologist Joe Bastardi responded.
  • "If that’s true you should be mightily ashamed. When I was growing up we were genuinely scared about a possible nuclear war with the Soviets. But that was a real possibility," conservative writer David Limbaugh responded.
  • "Either she made up the story or scared the hell out of him… psychological abuse?" another person responded.
  • "The only way this could happen to a child is if the parents made it so," one person said.
  • "Shame on her for feeding her child this hyped up crap," another person said.
  • "Lady that says far more about you as a parent than you even realize. YIKES," one person observed.

Clark became the second-highest ranking Democrat in the House last week after her colleagues elected her to be their party whip. She will assume her role when the 118th Congress begins next month.

Democratic lawmaker wants unmasked House members relegated to isolation boxes in the gallery

Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) wants to put unmasked House members in a box — literally.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, Clark is asking the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives William Walker to require lawmakers who forego masks to attend the floor from isolation boxes in the gallery.

As #Omicron rages, Members breaking House rules by refusing to #maskup are threatening our dedicated staff and Members. Fines are not enough. I'm calling for unmasked Members to attend the floor and vote from the isolation boxes in the House Gallery. Read morepic.twitter.com/UTDAJDlqiE
— Katherine Clark (@Katherine Clark) 1641923422

Members already face fines for entering the House floor without wearing a mask. The first offense costs $500 while subsequent instances of non-compliance cost a whopping $2,500.

"Unfortunately, these fines have proven insufficient to prevent some Members from repeatedly violating this commonsense rule," Clark wrote in the letter to Walker. "In fact, two House members alone have accumulated more than $100,000 in fines over the last year. This callous disregard for House rules endangers the health of Members of Congress and the professional staff whose physical presence is required to ensure continuity of government."

"That is why, in addition to imposing fines, I am requesting that your office begin requiring Members who fail to comply with this rule to attend the House floor from the isolation boxes in the House Gallery. These boxes were designed to minimize the risk of exposure to quarantined Members, yet those who refuse to mask pose the same or higher risk of exposing individuals around them to COVID," Clark declared.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told Newsmax last week that she has been fined nearly $90,000.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) has racked up at least $58,000 in fines related to the mask requirement, according to The Hill. The outlet also said that multiple other legislators have been slapped with at least one fine.
