Georgia poll worker mailed bomb, rape threat letter to his own office signed by 'voter' angry over 'election fraud,' feds say

A Georgia poll worker was arrested Monday and accused of mailing a letter appearing to come from a voter who threatened to bomb and rape election staffers, the Department of Justice said.

Nicholas Wimbish, 25, was serving as a poll worker at the Jones County Elections Office on Oct. 16 when he allegedly had a verbal altercation with a voter, the DOJ said, citing the criminal complaint.

'The liberal young men will get beatdown if they fight me. They will get the treason punishment by firing squad if they fight back. ... They should watch every move they make looking over their shoulder.'

Later that evening, Wimbish conducted online research to determine what information about himself was publicly available, the DOJ said, adding that the next day, Wimbish mailed a letter addressed to the Jones County Elections Superintendent, purportedly from a “Jones County Voter."

The letter allegedly was drafted to make it appear as if it came from the voter, the DOJ added.

According to charging papers revealed by Reuters, the letter complained that Wimbish is a "young liberal woke idiot" who was trying to "influence" people's "votes in line" and "distracting voters from concentrating."

Here's an excerpt from the letter detailed in the charging papers:

Yesterday I had your young liberal woke idiot Nicholas Wimbish give me hell. ... He tries to influence peoples votes in line. ... I researched a newspaper article about Nicholas Wimbish and other woke liberal fraudsters impostering to be patriots. I found another young dumb liberal idiot guy I stood in line by in that paper too he was talking to. I recognized his picture now I know his name is [Person 1]. I am on the hunt for him because he is a closeted liberal election fraudster like Nicholas Wimbish. They were conspiring votes in my line then distracting voters from concentrating.

An FBI special agent investigating Wimbish noted in the charging papers that he believes Wimbish "conducted the Google search on his own name to confirm what information was available about him and other poll workers online. I believe that Wimbish wrote the letter pretending to be Person 2, because the letter references Wimbish and Person 1 'distracting voters' — the same complaint that Person 2 voiced the day before the letter was dated."

Here's another letter excerpt from the charging papers:

I saw young woke libs ladies [Person 3] and [Person 4]. A pic of one young lady has her f***ing up my ballot so they all did it to everyone. Your woke liberal should look over their shoulder I have to do whatever it takes for [Candidate A] to win Georgia. I know where they go. I know where they all live because I found home voting addresses for all them. The liberal young men will get beatdown if they fight me. They will get the treason punishment by firing squad if they fight back. ... They should watch every move they make looking over their shoulder. The ladies are sexy and thick. I will do rage rape. They should watch every move they make and look over their shoulder. ... Tell them I know where they live and will find them all one night. I will follow them on the road. You won’t stop them so I will stop them from your election fraud. This is how patriots do it. Bad things will happen to prevent civil war. ... They will learn a violent lesson about stealing our elections!

The charging papers state that the letter ended with a handwritten note, “PS boom toy in early vote place, cigar burning, be safe.” The FBI special agent noted in the charging papers that "based on my training and experience I know that 'boom toy' may reference an explosive device and 'cigar burning' may reference a delayed fuse ignitor."

What happened next?

The charging papers go on to state that the FBI interviewed Wimbish on Oct. 23, and he told agents that on Oct. 16 "a voter whose name he did not know at the time chastised him for speaking with Person 1 because it prevented the voter from concentrating. The voter asked to see Wimbish's identification badge and read Wimbish’s name out loud from it." The charging papers add that "Wimbish was present when the letter was received" on Oct. 22 "and, after reading the letter, identified the author of the letter as the voter" from Oct. 16, whom the FBI calls "Person 2."

Wimbish on Oct. 23 didn't tell the FBI that he wrote and mailed the "threatening letter. Instead, Wimbish blamed the voter he had interacted with, Person 2."

The charging papers note that on Nov. 4, the FBI "searched, pursuant to legal process, a personal computer belonging to Wimbish. The FBI found in the print spooler the letter referenced above. The FBI also found a document dated October 18, 2024 referencing a 'Boom Toy.'"

Wimbish is charged with mailing a bomb threat, conveying false information about a bomb threat, mailing a threatening letter, and making false statements to the FBI, the DOJ said, adding that if he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison if convicted.

Reuters said a lawyer for Wimbish could not be immediately identified.

Anything else?

Wimbish was one of several current and former students profiled in a May article posted to the Georgia College & State University’s publication Front Page, according to WAGA-TV.

The article stated that Wimbish had just graduated with a master’s in public administration, WAGA noted, adding that he previously earned a degree in political science with a minor in rhetoric and had plans to teach or manage elections.

"I thought this certificate would be a way to add personal and academic value to my experiences," Wimbish told the publication, according to WAGA, and he also said that "working any election in any capacity — whether for an internship or not — is a crowning moment. The sense of achievement, being a part of democracy-in-action, is rewarding."

Wimbish also told the publication that after being named poll manager, in charge of a precinct in Jones County, he had plans to work on Election Day.

Leftist Group Threatens Michigan Voters: ‘We Will Be Reviewing’ Your Voting Record

The left-wing Voter Participation Center sent Michigan residents, including a reporter for The Federalist, letters with threatening language.

EXCLUSIVE: Postal Union Sends Letter Calling Trump ‘Existential Threat’

Suspected would-be assassin offered a bounty on Trump's head, prosecutors reveal

Federal prosecutors revealed in a Monday filing that Ryan Routh, the 58-year-old Democratic donor suspected of trying to assassinate Kamala Harris' opponent on Sept. 15, previously offered an international bounty on President Donald Trump's head and had foreknowledge of Trump's whereabouts.

According to the filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, a civilian witness approached law enforcement days after Routh's Sept. 15 arrest, indicating the suspected would-be assassin had dropped off a box at his residence several months prior.

'It is up to you now to finish the job.'

Upon learning of the assassination attempt, the witness, who is unnamed in the filing, apparently opened the box. There, he reportedly found ammunition, a metal pipe, building materials, four phones, and a number of letters, including one addressed to "The World."

Routh's appeal to murderers abroad, which largely reads like Harris campaign literature, allegedly states:

Dear World, This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I am so sorry I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job. Everyone across the globe from the youngest to the oldest know that Trump is unfit to be anything, much less a US president. U.S. presidents must at bare minimum embody the moral fabric that is America and be kind, caring and selfless and always stand for humanity.

While the Department of Justice disclosed the first page of the letter, the remainder was not shared. However, the filing indicated that the letter does at one point state, "He [the former President] ended relations with Iran like a child and now the Middle East has unraveled."

Donald Trump Jr. asked on X, "WTF!? Why is Kamala's DOJ publicizing Ryan Wesley Routh putting a bounty on my dad's head???"

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) suggested, "The DOJ, which is trying to put Trump in prison, is now offering a bounty on Trump's head by releasing this. Why else would they release this?"

Routh's letter to killers abroad echoes what he wrote in his self-published 2023 book, "Ukraine's Unwinnable War."

In the book, Routh — who made around 20 small donations to Democrats through ActBlue between 2019 and 2020 and who the Department of Homeland Security declined to investigate despite previous complaints — apologized to Iranians for Trump dismantling the nuclear deal and noted, "You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment."

Routh added, "No one here in the US seems to have the balls to put natural selection to work or even unnatural selection."

Prosecutors indicated that the box Routh dropped off with the witness also contained a handwritten list of dates in August, September, and October and corresponding venues indicating where Trump had appeared or was anticipated to show up.

It's presently unclear whether the dates and locations were all public knowledge. However, acting USSS Director Ronald Rowe told reporters last week that Trump "wasn't supposed to have gone there in the first place," referencing his Sept. 15 visit to the golf course.

There was also a notebook in the box filled with names and phone numbers linked to Ukraine along with "discussions about how to join combat on behalf of Ukraine."

Blaze News previously reported that Routh fancied himself an international recruiter for Ukrainian forces and ran the website "Fight for Ukraine." Although Ukraine's foreign legion reportedly figured him for a charlatan, he was featured in multiple mainstream reports about international recruitment.

In addition to attempting to help Afghan militants qualify to fight against Russia in Ukraine, Routh was apparently a cheerleader for the Ukrainian brigade associated with neo-Nazis since its inception. He appears at the 1:50-minute mark in a 2022 video of a Ukrainian demonstration in support of the Azov Brigade.

The Azov Brigade said in a statement last week that it "has no connection" to Routh.

The court filing noted further that the FBI obtained cell site records for two of the phones found in the vehicle Routh reportedly used to flee the scene of the alleged assassination attempt.

The records indicated that Routh traveled from Greensboro, North Carolina, to West Palm Beach on Aug. 14.

Between Aug. 18 and Sept. 15, Routh's phone allegedly accessed cell towers near Trump's golf course and Mar-a-Lago residence on numerous occasions.

Extra to revealing Routh's apparent willingness to outsource Trump's assassination to foreign killers and his apparent foreknowledge of Trump's whereabouts, prosecutors highlighted ahead of Routh's detention hearing Monday that on Dec. 20, 2002, the Ukraine-war obsessive was convicted in North Carolina for possession of a weapon of mass destruction — a "binary explosive device" — as well as in 2010 for multiple counts of possession of stolen goods.

Blaze News previously reported that when Routh appeared in court on Dec. 18, 2002, his bond amount was increased to $100,000, and he was ordered released Dec. 18 by Superior Court Judge Peter M. McHugh. Days later, Routh entered a plea agreement that led to dismissal of the explosives charge, and his bond was reduced to $10,000.

Rather than serve up to 19 months in prison, Routh was ultimately ordered to serve 60 months of probation and to pay a $225 fine.

43 Republican senators sign letter to Schumer, pressing for Senate to hold Mayorkas impeachment trial

The bulk of the Senate GOP conference has joined a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer that calls for the chamber to hold a trial regarding the articles of impeachment the House lodged against Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas back in February.

According to reports, a spokesperson for House Speaker Mike Johnson has indicated that "the House will transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate next week."

— (@)

Forty-three GOP senators signed onto the letter, which describes the nation's southern border as "a national security disaster."

"We write to demand that the Senate uphold its constitutional responsibility to properly adjudicate the House of Representatives' impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas," the letter declares. "Since 1797, twenty-one individuals have been impeached by the House of Representatives. Trials were held in every single instance, except once when an impeached judge resigned from office before trial commenced. Absent Secretary Mayorkas' immediate resignation, this impeachment should remain faithful to Senatorial precedent.

"In the face of the disaster that mounts daily at our southern border, and in communities across America, the House of Representatives has formally accused Alejandro Mayorkas of demeaning his office. The American people deserve to hear the evidence through a Senate trial in the Court of Impeachment," the letter states. "Therefore, we implore you to hold a trial, as has been done in every similar case in the Senate's 235 years of existence."

House Judiciary chair Jim Jordan in scathing letter launches probe into DOJ's arrest of Blaze News journalist Steve Baker

Republican House Judiciary chairman Jim Jordan on Tuesday opened an investigation into the U.S. Department of Justice's arrest and treatment of Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker over his coverage of events that transpired on Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Independent journalist Breanna Morello posted Jordan's scathing letter to Matthew Graves, U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, which is dated March 12:

— (@)

What does the letter say?

Jordan's letter outlines "serious concerns" about the DOJ's "selective prosecution" concerning Baker's March 1 arrest in Dallas "as well as the Department's commitments to the First Amendment rights of journalists."

The letter notes that other journalists who were in the Capitol on Jan. 6 haven't been charged, yet the DOJ still decided to charge Baker, who was critical of federal investigations and prosecutions related to Jan. 6.

The letter also cites Baker's attorney, who noted that the DOJ "is not allowed to decide what press coverage it likes and what press coverage offends it and take prosecutorial action based on those judgments."

In addition, the letter states that it appears the DOJ "deviated from practice" by indicting Baker "when he voluntarily surrendered" and "subjected him to formal arrest — that is, the FBI fingerprinted, photographed, handcuffed, and placed Mr. Baker in the back of an FBI vehicle, transported him to the courthouse, and brought him before the magistrate judge in a 'belly chain, box cuffs, and leg shackles.'"

The letter also states that Baker's attorney, over a long career, never before saw the FBI do this to others charged with misdemeanors.

"This conduct smacks of harassment and selective treatment for a disfavored criminal defendant," the letter also states, adding that it appears the DOJ has violated its "mission of equal justice under the law" and that its conduct "criminalizes politics and weaponizes the administration of justice."

What's more, the letter criticizes the administration of President Joe Biden, noting concerns over its "commitment to equal application of the law."

Democrat U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler (N.Y.), the committee's ranking member, was copied on the letter.

What is Jordan demanding?

In his letter, Jordan demanded that Graves produce the following no later than 5 p.m. March 26:

  • All documents and communications regarding Baker's arrest;
  • All documents and communications regarding any investigation, prosecution, and arrest of any other journalist covering Jan. 6;
  • All documents and communications related to the DOJ's determination to request pretrial detention of defendants charged in connection with Jan. 6 — plus those who are now or who have been in pretrial detention related to Jan. 6.

Jordan's letter concludes by reminding Graves that the Judiciary Committee has "jurisdiction to oversee" the DOJ regarding matters "related to civil liberties."

What is the early reaction?

Baker, in a Tuesday night statement to Blaze News, said the following:

"Breanna Morello’s advocacy for the innocent and the overcharged, over-persecuted January 6 defendants is tireless and without peer. What we see from her publicly is only a fraction of what she does behind the scenes.

“I want to thank Rep. Jim Jordan for not only recognizing my struggle but also for demanding full transparency in the DOJ’s prosecution of all J6 cases. I’m blessed by the platform I've been given, but I intend to use this attention to shine a light on all those who have been unfairly treated by the unprecedented weaponization of the DOJ, their double standards, and the selective prosecution being wielded against J6 defendants.”

Blaze Media editor in chief Matthew Peterson added the following statement to Blaze News:

"All Americans should welcome this investigation. As Congressman Jordan indicates, what is at stake here is the American principle of equal justice under the law. This is not a partisan issue: if the Department of Justice is allowed to selectively target journalists who criticize it, the freedom of the press will be lost, and the slow death of journalism in America will be complete.

"Although he was not working for us at the time, Baker has nothing to hide: we have made the video of his time in the Capitol on January 6thpublic so all Americans can judge for themselves. Likewise, the American people deserve to know the truth about how and why the Department of Justice decided to treat Steve Baker as a criminal."

This is a developing, breaking news story and will be updated accordingly.

Two dozen House members sign letter to Biden and Blinken advocating ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war

Two dozen House lawmakers joined together in a letter to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken advocating for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

"We write to you to express deep concern about the intensifying war in Gaza, particularly grave violations against children, and our fear that without an immediate cessation of hostilities and the establishment of a robust bilateral ceasefire, this war will lead to a further loss of civilian life and risk dragging the United States into dangerous and unwise conflict with armed groups across the Middle East," the lawmakers' letter states. "Further, we write urging clarity on your strategic objectives for achieving de-escalation and stability in the region."

Israel went to war last month after Hamas terrorists perpetrated heinous atrocities including rape, murder, and kidnapping.

Democratic Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, who was one of the U.S. lawmakers who viewed footage from the attacks, recalled, "We saw images of mutilated infants, defiled corpses, and families burned alive in their homes."

While speaking to Samaritan's Purse president and CEO Franklin Graham, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that the country is seeking to "minimize civilian casualties."

— (@)

But Netanyahu has said that Hamas blocks civilians from fleeing to safety. "While Israel is doing everything to keep civilians out of harm's way, Hamas is doing everything to keep them in harm's way," Netanyahu has tweeted. "Israel provides civilians in Gaza humanitarian corridors and safe zones, Hamas prevents them from leaving at gunpoint."
