Taylor Swift’s Popularity Is A Sign Of Societal Decline
Audiences and elite tastemakers alike have decided Taylor Swift's narcissistic lyrics and cliched music are a cultural triumph — but why would we celebrate this?
Pop icon Madonna just announced that she is adding a Nashville stop on her upcoming "Celebration Tour," set to begin later this year.
The 64-year-old singer made the announcement on Instagram on Monday, stating that she added the Nashville concert at Bridgestone Arena because of new Tennessee laws that severely restrict drag shows and so-called "gender-affirming care" for children. She criticized those laws as "unfounded and pathetic" and claimed that they make "America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color."
"The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is ... unacceptable and inhumane," Madonna stated.
Madonna also stated that Bob the Drag Queen, a recent winner of RuPaul's "Drag Race" show, will join her in Music City on December 22.
"Anyone with half a brain knows not to f*** with a drag queen," Madonna wrote on Instagram. "Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the Queer community!"
According to reports, Madonna intends to donate the proceeds from the Nashville concert to so-called "trans rights" groups.
At about the same time that Madonna posted on social media about the Nashville concert, her website likewise issued an announcement about the Nashville show. Unfortunately, the timing of the announcements coincided with the news that a female suspect who identified as transgender had murdered three adults and three children at a Christian school in Nashville. The decision to add Nashville to the schedule likely did not come in response to the shooting, and neither announcement about Madonna's Nashville concert makes reference to the shooting, the shooter, or the Christian identity of the victims.
The new drag show law in Tennessee that has Madonna so enraged does not explicitly refer to "drag," though it does forbid "adult cabaret entertainment" and "male and female impersonators" on public property and in locations where children are present. Such shows must be held at least 1,000 feet from schools, houses of worship, and public parks. Violators of this law will face a misdemeanor charge for the first offense and a felony for repeat offenses.
Another new Tennessee law prohibits medical professionals from treating a minor's biological sex like a disease. Doctors may not prescribe puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones or perform surgery to alter a child's genitals.
"These children do not need these medical procedures to be able to flourish as adults," said state House Majority Leader William Lamberth (R). "They need mental health treatment. They need love and support, and many of them need to be able to grow up to become the individuals that they were intended to be."

The 65th annual Grammy Awards held in Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday featured Satan, cages, dominatrices, whips, fire, and an "unrecognizable" Madonna.
"It's a take on not being able to choose religion. And not being able to live the way that people might want you to live," performer Kim Petras, a German-born, transgender woman (i.e., a biological man), said of the "Unholy" performance, Variety reported.
"I think a lot of people, honestly, have kind of labeled what I stand for and what Sam [Smith] stands for as religiously not cool, and I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it but slowly realizing it didn’t want me to be a part of it," Petras also said.

"Sam [Smith] graciously wanted me to accept this award, because I'm the first transgender woman to win this award," the performer said in an acceptance speech, to a standing ovation from the crowd.

"Saturday Night Live" hosted a performance of the song "Unholy" two weeks ago. Sam Smith
performed in an enormous, hot pink, fluffy tulle gown. Petras was revealed to be sitting under the voluminous skirt as the gown was flipped open.
Billy Hallowell, who penned "Playing with Fire: A Modern Investigation into Demons, Exorcism, and Ghosts," described the "Unholy" performance at the Grammy Awards as "heartbreaking." He encouraged viewers to pray for "people who mock God, flaunt that mockery, and [are] then praised for it."
"Unholy's" lyrics address themes of marital infidelity and betrayal.
\u201cThe "Unholy" performance wasn't really outrageous or innovative; it was just sad. It's really heartbreaking to watch people mock God, flaunt that mockery, and then be praised for it. This should break our hearts and send us into prayer for these people. Truly.\u201d— Billy Hallowell (@Billy Hallowell) 1675680114
Page Six described Madonna as "unrecognizable." The "Like a Virgin" and "Material Girl" pop legend presented ahead of Smith's and Petras' "Unholy" performance.
Though she wore her signature fishnet gloves, some viewers were shocked by Madonna's near-unrecognizable face.
"Her lips appeared plumped and pouty and her skin was smooth and without wrinkles," according to the Mirror's gracious description of 64-year-old Madonna.
Others were more blunt.
"I'm all for cosmetic surgery but @Madonna should have left her face alone after her last lift," said actor Damon Gonzalez.
"The mother of reinvention needs an intervention. And yes, I'll be paying 1,300 to see her at MSG this summer," Gonzalez added.

"Madonna can't see it. It's filter fatigue. People get so used to their face they no longer see it's different, so they continue to get more," said writer and director Jay Arnold.
