Tennis legend Martina Navratilova wipes floor with male reporter who called her 'transphobic'

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova blasted a male reporter who called her "transphobic" in connection with her stance against the inclusion of biological males who identify as female in female sports.

It began with a Friday report on X from writer Mitchell Northam about vandalization of the "Take Back Title IX" tour bus after its event in Chapel Hill. Northam's report said eggs were thrown at the bus and messages were written on it. One of the messages read, "Transphobic pu**ies."

'You can just go away now. Hope I see your nasty self at Wimbledon — if you are there.'

With that, another writer — Ben Rothenberg — jumped in and ripped the tennis great: "Martina Navratilova turning this anti-trans crusade into her life's obsession in recent years remains dispiriting! And she turns it into way more transphobic vitriol than just discussing sports fairness, as I've covered before, just being nasty and cruel and dehumanizing. Boo."

Navratilova caught wind of Rothenberg's critique and returned the favor: "Yet another man telling women what they should care about. And who are you exactly? Oh yeah, the reporter who tells tennis players it's off the record and then prints what they said anyway. Good to know you care about women’s sports and women’s sex-based spaces. I care."

Rothenberg wrote back to Navratilova, disputing her claims: "I’ve never done that. But I care also, about someone who was a beacon of freedom and inclusion in the sport I’ve covered sadly choosing to erode the platform she built with cyberbullying campaigns aimed at obscure, low-level amateur athletes. I wish you were better than that."

Not to be outdone, Navratilova dropped the big one on Rothenberg: "Cyberbullying — wow. I am blocking you once and for all. For your information, I am doing a whole lot more than just tweeting. You can just go away now. Hope I see your nasty self at Wimbledon — if you are there."

Rothenberg wasn't through, either: "(Been wild to see when these folks have swarmed my mentions how for so many of them, this issue has become their entire personality on this website. Fighting this trans boogeyman by trawling super obscure amateur sports events for examples becomes an obsession, a lifestyle.)"

Rothenberg's initial post on X was in ratio-land as of Monday afternoon — nearing a thousand comments compared to 630 likes.

Back in 2019, after Navratilova penned an op-ed saying that transgender females competing against biological women is "insane and cheating," an advocacy group for LGBTQ athletes — Athlete Ally — kicked Navratilova off its advisory board over her "transphobic" comments.

Tennis icon Martina Navratilova drops truth bomb on transgender woman who claims his 'body chemistry is more female than' hers

After India Willoughby, a biological man who claims to be a woman, asserted that his "body chemistry is more female than" that of former professional women's tennis player Martina Navratilova, the tennis icon fired back by noting that Willoughby is not female.

Navratilova had tweeted that "trans identifying males is not a transphobic buzz phrase ... but rather a biological fact. Also it makes it much easier to understand who is who and how they started. Where they end up can change, but biology doesn't change. Ever."

Willoughby asserted that "calling someone a 'trans identified male' rather than simply a woman is about as transphobic as it gets" and that an individual "who transitions is factually and legally a biological female."

"Biology absolutely changes. My body chemistry is more female than Martina's. My anatomy is female. The fact Martina and other bigots refuse to acknowledge me or any woman who happens to be trans is deeply offensive. If it sticks in her craw so much, she shouldn’t be commentating," Willoughby declared. "The NHS - actual doctors - recognise me. They're not confused. So why can't Martina Navratilova? It's bigotry and prejudice," Willoughby added.

Martina Navratilova responded by stating the simple truth that Willoughby "never was, and never will be, female."

But Willoughby openly claims that he is female.

"I don't ID as a woman/female. I am a woman/female," Willoughby has tweeted.

Willoughby has claimed to to be "more of a woman than JK Rowling will ever be," referring to the famous author of the "Harry Potter" series.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova slams NCAA over trans swimmer Lia Thomas' 'Woman of the Year' nomination

Following the NCAA announcement that transgender swimmer Lia Thomas was nominated for the 2022 "Woman of the Year" award by the University of Pennsylvania, tennis legend Martina Navratilova took to Twitter to express the sentiments we've all thinking when it comes to biological men competing in women's sports.

"Not enough fabulous biological women athletes, NCAA?!? What is wrong with you?!!!!!!!?" tweeted the nine-time singles Wimbledon champion.

As you may have heard, UPenn nominated Thomas — a biological male who in 2017 ranked as the 462nd-best male swimmer on the school's men's team — for the National Collegiate Athletic Association's 2022 "Woman of the Year" award. Thomas joined the women’s team in 2020 after transitioning and almost immediately became the No. 1-ranked female collegiate swimmer in the country.

Navratilova, one of the greatest tennis players of all time and a vocal LGBT activist, has been speaking out about the unfair advantages of biological men competing in women's sports.

“It's not about excluding transgender women from winning, ever,” she told NewsNation in March. “But it is about not allowing them to win when they were not anywhere near winning as men. You try to keep it as close as possible to what it would have been had you been born in the female biological body in the first place.”

On BlazeTV's “Fearless with Jason Whitlock," Jason and contributor Delano Squires sounded the alarm about the less obvious concerns of transgender athletes such as Thomas. It's not just about violating norms of athletic fairness, but also the normalization of something that is downright dangerous to American children. At what point do surgeries and drugs used for gender transitions become abusive?
