Texas middle school cheerleaders suffer burns on hands after coach's 'punishment'

Cheerleaders from Evans Middle School in Lubbock, Texas, suffered first-degree and second-degree hand burns after they said their coach punished them by making them perform "bear crawls" and "crab walks" on a hot outdoor track, KAMC-TV reported.

Bear crawls and crab walks involve moving one's body forward with hands and feet on the ground.

One parent checked the track temperature that afternoon and said it was at least 125 degrees.

The 13 girls — all eighth graders — told KAMC they were punished for performing a cheer that their female coach didn’t want them to do. They added to the station that their coach said performing the cheer against her wishes was “disrespectful.”

Angel Thompson, a mother of one of the cheerleaders, told KAMC her daughter told her the cheerleaders "got a punishment, and shows me her hands."

The cheerleaders were told to do the bear crawls and crab walks for a mile, the station said, adding that most weren’t able to continue after two laps due to pain, and that some became physically sick.

The girls said the punishment happened at 2 p.m. Wednesday, KAMC said, adding that one parent checked the track temperature that afternoon and said it was at least 125 degrees.

“We told her our hands are burning, and she said she didn’t care, and she made us go back down on the track,” one of the cheerleaders, who asked to remain anonymous, told the station.

Parents added that the coach threatened the girls’ cheerleading futures if they didn’t complete the punishment, KAMC said.

Some girls went to the school nurse afterward, but the station said parents didn't get calls from the school about their daughters’ injuries. KAMC said at least one cheerleader was seen at the University Medical Center burn unit.

“It was malicious. It was intentional,” the mother of one of the cheerleaders, who asked to remain anonymous, told the station.

KAMC noted that parents are hoping for criminal charges against the teacher and said an investigation with police is ongoing. The teacher was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation, the station said.

The Lubbock school district confirmed in a statement that it's aware of the "teacher’s disciplinary method that resulted in several students receiving burns on their hands. The teacher directed a group of students to perform 'bear crawls' on the outdoor track, which was heated by the day’s high temperatures. This action resulted in multiple students being injured."

"We are heartbroken over these events, as the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. This type of incident does not reflect the standards or values of Lubbock ISD and Evans Middle School. We are addressing this matter with utmost urgency, and are fully committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The teacher involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation," the statement continued.

You can view a video report here about the incident.

Middle school lunch lady accused of sexually abusing, grooming 14-year-old boy; takes plea deal to avoid trial

A Connecticut middle school lunch lady accused of sexually abusing and grooming a 14-year-old boy has accepted a plea deal to avoid trial.

Andie Rosafort, 33, pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault and impairing the moral of children at a Thursday hearing in Danbury state court, according to the Connecticut Superior Court clerk’s office.

According to police, Rosafort picked up the teen from a January 2023 party and drove a short distance before having 'contact of a sexual nature' with him inside her vehicle.

A lunch aide at the New Fairfield Middle School, Rosafort allegedly sent illicit photos to a student she met at the school.

Rosafort had been facing charges of second-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, and enticing a minor by computer, according to the News-Times.

The New York Post reported that the terms of her plea deal are unclear but that she would avoid a trial that was scheduled to begin this week as a result of accepting the deal.

The Post said her attorney, William Westcott, did not respond to the paper's request for comment.

In January 2023, school administrators notified law enforcement after a friend of the alleged victim said a school employee sexually assaulted the teen, according to state police

Prosecutors claim Rosafort sexually assaulted the boy in her SUV after grooming him for months on social media and through text messages.

Citing an affidavit, WTNH-TV previously reported the student told police that Rosafort had been his lunch aide when he was in the eighth grade.

The teen allegedly added that she had been talking to him for six months through Instagram and Snapchat.

The alleged victim reportedly told investigators that he received a message from Rosafort that read: "You want to see something?" He claimed that Rosafort then sent him a nude photo of herself. The teen asked the lunch aide if she sent the explicit photo by accident, and then she sent him a second nude photo, according to the affidavit.

"Rosafort allegedly continued sending unsolicited nude photographs and videos of her masturbating to the victim for months," WTNH reported. "The victim also told police Rosafort would attend his sports games and send him videos of him playing, according to the affidavit."

The alleged victim purportedly said Rosafort asked the 14-year-old to send her nude photographs of himself.

According to police, Rosafort picked up the teen from a January 2023 party and drove a short distance before having "contact of a sexual nature" with him inside her vehicle.

The teen's friends noticed he was acting strange when he returned to the party, and the boy admitted that he had "left the party to have sex with a woman," according to the Daily Mail.

The teenager reportedly said he "ended the encounter because he began to feel weird about it."

Police reportedly used phone location evidence to determine that the alleged victim and Rosafort were in the same place when the alleged sexual assault occurred.

Viral video: Middle-schooler grabs teacher, throws her sideways against classroom wall amid fight with another student

Cellphone video shows the moment a Texas middle-schooler grabbed a teacher and threw her sideways against a classroom wall amid a fight with another student Monday,

The fight took place Monday at Hurshel Antwine Middle School in El Paso, which is part of the Socorro Independent School District, KTSM-TV reported in reference to the video, which the station said has gone viral.

Separate thuds are audible when she hits the wall and then lands on the classroom floor.

KTSM's video report said the social studies teacher was trying to break up a fight between two of her students. The teacher is seen in the clip getting between the students in a classroom before one of the students appears to throw a punch past her, grabs her shoulders, and throws her sideways against a wall.

At least one of her legs is seen leaving the ground during the throw. Separate thuds are audible when she hits the wall and then lands on the classroom floor.

An unredacted video shows that the student who threw the teacher against the wall appears to be the aggressor in the fight with the other student, throwing repeated punches while the other student doesn't fight back. The one-sided dust-up continued for nearly 20 more seconds after the teacher was thrown.

The teacher soon rises to her feet after several seconds, and two individuals — presumably other teachers — enter the classroom, with one of them yelling, "What are you doing?" according to the unredacted video, as the students are separated.

The teacher who was thrown into the wall appears to collapse into a seated position on the floor.

KTSM said the following message was sent to parents: “Hello, this is Patricia Fernandez, principal of Hurshel Antwine Middle School. I am calling to inform you that an altercation occurred among students in a classroom on our campus today. This was an isolated incident between individual students. The students involved are being addressed by administration and law enforcement, as appropriate. There was no threat to other students or the campus. Thank you for your continued trust and support of Hurshel Antwine Middle School and Team SISD.”

The station said it reached out to the school district for comment.

Lone Star Live said district officials didn't answer when asked if the woman in the video is a teacher or if she she was injured. The outlet added that officials didn't answer when asked what kind of punishment the students involved might face, if they would be expelled, or if they would be sent to an alternative education program.

Officials also didn't answer when asked if teachers have panic buttons in their classrooms or if police are assigned to each school, Lone Star Live reported, adding that officials also didn't respond when asked who will decide whether or not to pursue charges in the case.

Video: Ganged-up-on middle-schooler viciously beaten. School district blasted after saying 'there will be some conflicts.'

A Minnesota school district stated "there will be conflicts" in response to cellphone video showing at least two students beating up a lone student at one of its middle schools — and observers were not happy with the district's words.

— (@)

Libs of TikTok got the video from X channel CrimeWatchMpls, which stated that the physical attack took place at Eagle Ridge Middle School in the city of Savage, which is about 20 minutes south of Minneapolis.

"We're told this assault on a student by several others took place on Friday," CrimeWatchMpls noted in its Saturday post, adding that the school is part of the @ISD191 Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District.

The Daily Mail reported that it reached out to the Savage Police Department and Eagle Ridge Middle School for comment, noting that police confirmed they did not receive any report about the incident.

As for the school district, a Facebook user asked a question about the attack, and the district had the following to say:

Violent behavior is absolutely unacceptable at Eagle Ridge and all District 191 schools. When this incident occurred, staff intervened immediately and nearby students took appropriate actions so that the incident didn’t escalate, and it ended quickly. School administration has investigated, and will follow school policies and procedures for student behavior as outlined in the student handbook. As always, we can't share private student data.

Unfortunately, in a school with hundreds of teens and pre-teens, there will be some conflicts. Our goal as educators is to make sure students know what's expected and that they have the skills and support to manage those conflicts peacefully and productively so everyone has the safe learning environment they deserve.

'There will be some conflicts'

To say folks weren't pleased about the district's response is an understatement:

  • "How was this 'a conflict,'" one Facebook commenter wondered.
  • "THIS. THIS is a serious red flag when coming from a SCHOOL," an X user stated. "If it is so bad that you're blaming the fact that teens are wild, then DO BETTER! Get more security, and make teachers and staff stand in hall doorways on between classes, AND make discipline quick and unpleasant."
  • "Their definition of conflict is a lot different than mine," another X commenter said.
  • "This isn’t 'normal teen conflict.' We all went to high school & saw fights. These are wild animal gang beatings & this isn’t the 1st time," another X commenter stated. "Teens & preteens have gotten the msg re: our state’s impotence in terms of [law enforcement], crime, & punishment. Now preteens [are] DEFIANT ..."
  • "LOL that was not conflict," another X commenter said. "It was a kid getting jumped. Nobody stepping in to help him."
  • "Didn’t look like conflict to me!" another X commenter opined. "Looked like a hate crime."
  • "Conflict??? A mob of students attacked ONE kid. That’s not conflict," another X commenter declared. "What a crock!!!"

The Texas Teacher Who Assigned Anne Frank Graphic Novel Deserved To Be Fired

Why would a teacher ask 13-year-old boys and girls to read lines about how Anne Frank feels about menstruating or other sexual themes?

'30 seconds, no screaming, no yelling, no phones': Teacher allegedly arranged fight club for sixth-grade girls

A Florida teacher is facing criminal charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with organized fights that allegedly took place in her classroom, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Angel Drew Footman, 23, then a sixth-grade teacher at Griffin Middle School, allegedly allowed students to fight in her classroom during school hours, according to a press release from the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

"She made statements such as '30 seconds, no screaming, no yelling, no phones,' and she even asked two of the girls whether they wanted to come back during her 6th period planning period to 'run it back' (fight again)," Leon County Sheriff's Office detective Hanna Perry reportedly wrote in an affidavit acquired by the Tallahassee Democrat.

"The fighters informed me that Footman asked them whether they wanted to have a 'friendly fade' before the fights began," an affidavit obtained by WCTV reportedly said.

Several parents discovered videos and reported to school administrators. The videos were recorded by students in the classroom. Multiple incidents took place March 22, authorities said.

In the videos, Footman is seen sitting at her desk, failing to intervene, according to WCTV.

Four girls fighting on camera said the fights were preplanned and endorsed by Footman, according to court documents acquired by the Miami Herald.

Multiple school administrators identified Footman's voice on the recordings, issuing directives including "stop pulling hair" and "break it up," the outlet also said.

Footman reportedly told investigators she "did not organize fights in any way, but failed to take quick action to stop the altercations or report them to administrators."

An LCSO School Resource Deputy received the report about Footman March 23. A warrant for her arrest was issued April 5, following a preliminary investigation.

Footman turned herself in to authorities at the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office April 7.

She was arrested, booked, and released April 7. She is charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to LCSO's records.

Each charge could result in up to a year behind bars.

Though an archived copy of the school's website taken January 27 contains a listing for Footman, Griffin Middle's School's site currently does not list her among the school's faculty and staff.

Middle school teacher refuses to use transgender students' preferred names, pronouns due to her Christian faith — then she's forced to resign, lawsuit says

A former middle school teacher in Ohio said she was forced to resign after refusing to use transgender students' preferred pronouns due to her Christian faith, and now she's suing her former school district, Alliance Defending Freedom said.

What are the details?

ADF said its attorneys filed the lawsuit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division, on behalf of Vivian Geraghty, who taught English at Jackson Memorial Middle School in Massillon.

The suit says Jackson Local School District officials forced Geraghty to resign in August because she refused to abide by the district's requirement that she use transgender students' "preferred names and pronouns." ADF argues in its suit that such a requirement is "unconstitutional" and violates her "sincerely held religious beliefs." The suit also says "scientific understanding" is behind Geraghty's "view that a person is male or female based on sex, not personal identity, and participating in a student’s social transition violates those beliefs by forcing her to communicate messages she believes are untrue and harmful to the student."

More from ADF:

The controversy began when two students asked Geraghty to participate in their social transition. This included using new names to reflect a new asserted gender identity for both students and using pronouns inconsistent with one student’s sex. The school counselor e-mailed Geraghty and several other teachers with instructions to participate in the students’ social transition. In response, Geraghty approached the principal with the hope of reaching a solution that would allow her to continue doing what she had always done: teach her class without personally affirming as true things that she believes are false and harmful.

The principal and his superior, the school district’s director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, told Geraghty that “she would be required to put her beliefs aside as a public servant,” that her unwillingness to participate in a social transition in violation of her faith amounted to insubordination, and that continuing to teach consistent with her beliefs would “not work in a district like Jackson.” Further, the officials told Geraghty that, if she would not participate in the students’ social transitions, she must resign immediately.

“No school official can force a teacher to set her religious beliefs aside in order to keep her job," ADF legal counsel Logan Spena said. "The school tried to force Vivian to recite as true the school’s viewpoint on issues that go to the foundation of morality and human identity, like what makes us male or female, by ordering her to personally participate in the social transition of her students. The First Amendment prohibits that abuse of power. Jackson Local School District officials nonetheless forced Vivian to resign because she resisted this unconstitutional command and explained that it was her Christian faith that made her unable to participate in her students’ social transition.”

The lawsuit seeks Geraghty's reinstatement to her teacher position, compensation for lost wages, punitive damages, and a declaration that the district's policy is unconstitutional.

How did the school district respond?

"This district always will strive to provide a safe, comfortable environment for all of our nearly 6,000 students in which to learn," a spokesperson for Jackson Local School District told Fox News Digital when asked for comment about the lawsuit. "We have engaged legal counsel and we will have no further comment on pending litigation."

Wisconsin school district closes Title IX case against boys who used wrong pronouns

The Wisconsin school district that opened a Title IX investigation against three middle-school boys accused of sexual harassment for using the wrong pronouns with another student has closed the case.

The Kiel Area School District announced Thursday it had "issued clear directives and expectations to all students involved in this matter for the purpose of preventing bullying and harassment and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students."

"Based on these actions, and pursuant to District policies and procedures, the School District considers this matter closed," the board of education said in a statement.

Controversy erupted last month when news broke that the school district had filed a Title IX complaint against three eighth grade boys who had not referred to one of their classmates by the student's preferred pronouns of "they/them." The district said that by refusing to use the student's preferred pronouns, the boys had sexually harassed their classmate under the Biden administration's interpretation of Title IX rules.

School officials faced several violent threats from people outraged by the investigation, including bomb threats against the school and other local government institutions. A California man was arrested for making a death threat against a school district staff member.

The parents of the accused boys hired the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, a conservative legal group, to defend their children against the accusation. The group sent a letter to the district in May arguing that the school had violated the boys' First Amendment rights and that the use of biologically correct pronouns does not constitute sexual harassment under Title IX or school policy.

In a June 2 follow-up letter, attorneys for the parents maintained that a Title IX investigation was inappropriate and that the case should be dismissed. Hours later, the district announced the matter had been "closed," a release from the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty said.

"We are pleased that the Kiel Area School District has finally ended its misguided Title IX investigation," said WILL Deputy Counsel Luke Berg. "While the District’s statement attempts to reframe the investigation, it was always primarily about 'mispronouning.' The District may not be willing to admit it publicly, but it has recognized that it has no legal basis to demand that our clients refrain from 'mispronouning' other students.”

The Kiel school board's announcement defends members of the administration and staff "who have been criticized simply for carrying out the functions of their job."

While the school's Title IX investigation is closed, the Kiel Police Department said Friday that law enforcement investigations into the violent threats made against the school are ongoing.

Rose Rabidoux, the mother of one of the accused boys, expressed thankfulness that the matter was settled.

“While we are glad that the District has ended its investigation, this dispute should have never been escalated to this point. We expect the Kiel Area School District to ensure that this Title IX complaint is not on my son’s record," she said. "We are thankful to our friends, family, and community for their support.”

How To Raise Sane Kids When Leaving Public Schools Is Not An Easy Option

The only way your kids survive the left’s assault on their childhood is if you are engaged in the battle with them.
