Colorado school district requires kids to suffer LGBT propaganda against parents' wishes

A Colorado school district recently updated its "LGBTQ+ tool kit," revealing what additional steps educators and staff are taking to indoctrinate those young Americans within its reach, particularly on the topics of sexuality and gender.

The document, which appears on various DPS school sites and was recently detailed in a Daily Caller report, indicates that students in Denver Public Schools will be unable to avoid LGBT propaganda; that their parents cannot effectively opt them out of content on-theme; and that parental consent will be sidestepped on various issues.

Denver Public Schools' tool kit details the district's various schemes and policies hatched with the stated purpose of supporting its non-straight and gender dysphoric students, staff, and families. The district has over 200 schools and 4,780 teachers, roughly 90,000 students, and 10,177 employees.

'There is no opt-out for LGBTQ+ topics.'

The tool kit notes that "age-appropriate LGBTQ+ topics are considered a part of DPS's commitment to equity and inclusion, just as all other topics related to equity and inclusion (for example, immigration, racism, ableism, etc.)."

State Democrats passed legislation in 2019 requiring the inclusion of content about the accomplishments of non-straight people in Colorado's Social Studies Standards and curriculum. The DPS' kit intimated, however, that the district need not stop at inserting LGBT content into history, civics, and social studies classes; that it could go further and push such propaganda "in all areas."

While parents can still opt their children out of sex-ed specific classes — which, per policy, refrain from discussing an abstinence-only approach to avoiding disease and pregnancy — the DPS indicated in its tool kit that such withdrawal would not spare students from "all discussions of gender, family, and/or sexual diversity at school."

"There is no opt-out for LGBTQ+ topics," stated the tool kit, which the Daily Caller reported was updated in July.

Although the district appears keen to tailor curricula and policy to a minority of non-straight community members, its tool kit noted, "DPS cannot tailor individual lessons, content, or classrooms because a family, student, or staff may have different values."

Having previously noted that LGBT propaganda falls under the umbrella of "equity and inclusion," the tool kit makes expressly clear; "Parent permission is not required to teach about topics of equity and inclusion."

DPS appears keen to sidestep parents in other ways as well.

In the case of children who are confused about their sexuality and "gender identity," the tool kit stresses: "Do not out the student to anyone."

"Do not share information about a student's transition without their express, documented consent," adds the tool kit.

Extra to helping students conceal their confusion, DPS will gladly use a "student's self-asserted name and/or pronouns at school" without parental/guardian notification or permission. The district will also allow students to change their name and pronouns in district record systems without either parental permission or legal documentation.

When confronted with a gender dysphoric student, the tool kit recommends partnering the student with a staff member "supportive of LGBTQ+ topics" to think through a "Gender Support Plan."

The kit suggests further how educators and school staff members are to usurp parental authority and adopt a familial role when it appears parents may not be onboard with promoting a child's confusion:

The educator or administrator should ask whether the student's family is accepting to avoid inadvertently putting the student at risk of more significant harm by discussing it with the student's family. Based on that information, the school and student should determine how to proceed through the collaborative process of figuring out how the school can support the student and balance the student's need to be affirmed at school with the reality that the student does not have that support at home.

The tool kit also details how transvestic students can choose to use the restrooms and locker rooms that best indulge their delusion and that they are allowed to go on overnight trips, alll the while having their real biological sexes kept a secret from other students and their parents.

The Daily Caller indicated that DPS could not be reached for comment.

Parents can't fully access their kids' medical records after judge partially blocks parental rights law

Washington state's Republican-backed Initiative 2081, referred to as "A Parents' Bill of Rights," was approved earlier this year by the state legislature in two landslide votes. The Democrats who control both chambers apparently permitted it through knowing they will likely be able to transmogrify it in the next legislative session.

Nevertheless, to the chagrin of leftists and other groups ostensibly keen on cleaving children from their parents, Republican state Rep. Jim Walsh's Initiative 2081 became law on June 6.

The law declares 15 rights that parents and guardians of public school children necessarily have, such as the right to:

  • examine textbooks and curricular materials used in their kid's classroom;
  • inspect their kid's public school records, including their health, academic, mental health counseling, vocational counseling, and disciplinary records;
  • receive prior notification when medical services are being offered to their child, except in the cases of emergency medical treatment;
  • receive immediate notification if their child is being taken or removed from campus without their permission;
  • receive assurance that their kid's school won't discriminate against their child based on the family's religious beliefs; and
  • receive written notice and opt out of student engagements that include questions about the child's sexuality and sexual experiences or the family's moral and political views.

Walsh underscored that the focus of all the elements of the bill was information.

"Custodial parents and guardians cannot be kept in the dark about what their minor children are going through in their lives," Walsh said last month. "Parents have to be told — whether it's things happening at school or things happening in the healthcare or mental healthcare space connected with school, or really anything affecting a minor child."

The legal acknowledgement of such natural rights in a state where the family is otherwise under siege prompted legal action from a number of radical LGBT organizations, represented ultimately by the activist firms QLaw and Legal Voice along with the ACLU of Washington.

They sued last month to halt the implementation of the initiative. This week, a judge granted them a minor victory.

Upon filing their lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the legislation in the Superior Court of Washington for King County on behalf of various LGBT groups, the pair of legal outfits and the ACLU of Washington recycled debunked rhetoric intimating that a failure to allow kids to transition at school behind their parents' backs and receive "affirmation" with the help from adults outside the family would result in "irreparable harm."

Adrien Leavitt, staff attorney for the state chapter of the ACLU, claimed, "The initiative passed because of deception and confusion, and it will cause life-altering negative outcomes for queer and trans students if it is implemented."

According to their complaint, the Parents' Bill of Rights "undermines, contradicts, and amends numerous laws that protect students' rights to privacy, healthcare, education, and an affirming and inclusive school environment."

On Friday, King County Superior Court Judge Michael Scott, appointed to the bench by Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee in 2018, granted a temporary block against parts of the law. Specifically, Scott blocked the requirement that parents are to be granted access to all of their children's medical and mental health counseling records and the requirement that school districts promptly turn such records over, reported the Washington State Standard.

Most parts of the Parents' Bill of Right will, however, remain in place for the time being.

While Scott figured the plaintiffs had done enough to demonstrate harm and potential unconstitutionality, he stressed, "It's not this court's position to determine whether that's good policy or not."

In response to Scott's ruling, Leavitt intimated in a statement it's not enough for parents to only partially be left in the dark.

'It is the student's decision when and if their gender identity is shared, and with whom.'

"We are pleased with this ruling as it will prevent parts of I-2081 from causing further harm while we seek a final decision in this case — but this is not the end," said Leavitt. "We will keep fighting this case in hopes of a final judgment that shows this harmful law violates the State Constitution and should not be implemented or enforced."

Walsh, meanwhile, indicated he was "encouraged that the judge left the bulk of the parents' bill of rights in place," reported the Seattle Times.

Democratic State Superintendent Chris Reykdal indicated that while the court did not block the remainder of Initiative 2081, he would effectively usurp the power of lawmakers and instruct Washington school districts not to apply aspects of the law.

"Until additional clarity is provided on the areas where the initiative conflicts with existing state and federal law, school districts should not make changes to any policies and procedures that are implicated by the conflicting sets of law," Reykdal said in a statement. "When in doubt, school districts should follow federal privacy laws."

In his statement, Reykdal also emphasized that schools don't have to disclose a student's transvestism at school to their parents.

“Our state's guidance has maintained that, in order to protect student privacy and safety, schools should communicate with students who disclose they are transgender or gender expansive about the student's individual needs, preferences, and safety concerns," Reykdal continued. "It is the student's decision when and if their gender identity is shared, and with whom."

Brian Heywood, a businessman from Redmond who helped bankroll the effort to advance Initiative 2081, suggested Reykdal was actively "shredding democracy."

"WA state Superintendent of Schools believes he is above the law and that the state knows better than parents what is best for your children," added Heywood. "In November he needs to go."

Leftists claim it is a 'dark day' after Canadian province ratifies parental bill of rights

The fight to re-establish and bolster parental rights has spread far beyond the borders of red states and Eastern European nations. Among the various battlegrounds to see a decisive victory in recent days is the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The prairie province introduced a policy in August upholding parental rights in taxpayer-funded classrooms. The usual suspects lashed out, but Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and his right-leaning Saskatchewan Party held firm, going so far as to invoke the "nuclear option" to pass and entrench the law on Friday.

What's the background?

Moe's government, handed an overwhelming majority and clear mandate by the electorate in 2020, announced mid-summer new parental inclusion and consent policies aimed at protecting parental rights in the classroom.

In addition to temporarily cutting radical LGBT activist groups out of sex education in the classroom, the policy stipulated that if a child wants to identify as a member of the opposite sex in school, educators cannot affirm the delusion unless the student's parents consent. This would help ensure that children are not transitioned with the help of educators behind parents' backs.

The province's former education minister said, "Our government has heard the concerns raised by Saskatchewan parents about needing to be notified and included in their children's education in these important areas."

The effort was immediately denounced and characterized as a threat to non-straight students.

The socialist New Democratic Party was among the radical factions to oppose the bill, with its provincial leader Carla Beck claiming, "Teachers will have to choose between shoving kids back in the closet or putting them in harm's way," reported Global News.

Heather Kuttai, the head of the province's so-called Human Rights Commission resigned in protest of the bill, claiming, "Removing a child’s rights, in the name of 'parental rights' is fundamentally anti-trans and harmful."

The LGBT activist group UR Pride Centre for Sexuality and Gender Diversity successfully challenged the policy before a provincial court, securing a temporary injunction against the policy, reported Jurist.

The group alleged in its application, "The policy presents an impossible choice: be outed at home or be misgendered at school, even in one-on-one counselling sessions with school personnel. ... Either outcome entails devastating and irreparable harm to a vulnerable young person."

The group wanted to leave such consequential decisions up to educators' "professional judgment."

Despite the backlash, the premier made expressly clear in September, "We are not backing down."

Notwithstanding the backlash

Saskatchewan Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill introduced the act to the legislature as Bill 137 on Oct. 12, revealing that the province would invoke section 33 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to see it through. This maneuver, called the "notwithstanding clause" or the "nuclear option," allowed the province to override certain Charter rights with which the legislation might conflict, thereby protecting it from court challenges as well as challenges under the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code.

Cockrill, a member of the Saskatchewan Party, noted that extra to ensuring parents won't be left in the dark about their kids' possible sexual confusion, the legislation would enshrine various other parental rights ideologues might seek to erode or usurp. These include the right to:

  • "act as the primary decision-maker with respect to the pupil's education";
  • "be informed on a regular basis of the pupil's attendance, behaviour and academic achievement in school";
  • "have access to the pupil's school file";
  • be informed at least two weeks before sexual health content is presented to the pupils and withdraw, if desired, the pupil from the presentation of that content; and
  • preclude educators and school staff from using their child's "new gender-related preferred name or gender identity at the school."

"Parents and guardians have a right to know what is being taught in their children's school," said the province's education minister, Jeremy Cockrill. "The Parents' Bill of Rights is an inclusionary policy that ensures that parents are at the forefront of every important decision in their child's life."

On Friday, the legislature passed the bill in a 40-12 vote, eliciting cries from protesters. The legislation then received royal assent, thereby becoming the law of the land.

Moe said after its enactment, the law "is providing parents the right, not the opportunity, to support their child through the formative years of their life and some very important decisions that our children are facing through those particular years."

Defeated UR Pride executive director Ariana Giroux said, "We here at UR Pride are upsettingly unsurprised that the Government of Saskatchewan would force through legislation that would cause irreparable harm to children."

Egale, the LGBT activist group that recently argued in favor of Jordan Peterson's re-education, said in a statement, "This is a dark day in Canadian history. We will remember this as the first time that an elected government has used the notwithstanding clause to limit the rights of children and young people as well as the first time that an elected government has done so with respect to 2SLGBTQI people."

Harini Sivalingam, the director of the so-called equality program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, similarly bemoaned the restoration of parental rights, calling the ratification of Bill 137 "a stain on the history of the province."

Canadian state media claimed earlier this year that Republicans in the U.S. are responsible for making parental rights "a legislative lodestar," noting that in 2022, 95 parental rights bills were introduced in 26 states. According to CNN, between January 2021 and June 2023, state lawmakers had introduced nearly 400 parental rights bills.

Trudeau blames Muslim parents' growing resistance to LGBT propaganda in schools on the 'American right wing'

Muslim parents are increasingly joining the revolt against the indoctrination of children in schools by LGBT propagandists. This is now especially true in Canada.

With the left's stranglehold on the education system showing signs of weakness in the face of this multifaith resistance, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, long a proponent of the "diversity is our strength" mantra, is looking for someone to blame.

Naturally, he has elected to once again suggest that American conservatives are responsible, this time for "weaponizing the issue of LGBT."

In recent weeks and months, parents of various faiths and backgrounds have taken educators to task for their promotion of gender ideology and LGBT propaganda in schools.

Just as American Muslims in Maryland, California, and elsewhere have taken a stand, only to have Democrats equate them to "white supremacists," Islamic parents in the Great White North are pushing back.

During so-called "Pride Month," when LGBT rituals were dutifully observed in Canadian schools, absenteeism skyrocketed in various districts. Students staged walkouts. Pride flags were in some places torn down and trampled.

Protests have persisted well into July — which according to the Canadian government is still part of "Pride Season" — with multitudes of Muslim parents demanding that their children be left alone.

Following an appearance at the Calgary Stampede earlier this month, Trudeau took time to engage the city's Muslim community, ostensibly to remedy its growing disconnect with his brand of radical leftism.

In a conversation caught on tape and subsequently uploaded to social media, Trudeau told a father at the Baitun Nur Mosque who had expressed concern about the "sin[ful]" messaging impressed upon children in school that "there is an awful lot of misinformation and disinformation out there. People on social media, particularly fueled by the American right wing, are spreading a lot of untruths about what’s actually in the provincial curriculums."

"Now if you look at the various curriculums, you’ll see that there is not what is being said out there about aggressive teaching or conversion of kids to being LGBT. That is something that is being weaponized by people who are not doing it because of their interest in supporting the Muslim community," continued the liberal prime minister.

Trudeau expressed concern that conservative Christians and conservative Muslims may be forming a coalition.

"These are people on the far right who have consistently stood against Muslim rights and the Muslim community, but they are weaponizing the issue of LGBT, which is something that, yes, Islam has strong opinions on, the same way that the religious right in Canada, the Christian right, has strong opinions against as well," said Trudeau.

In response, the parent referenced the recent incident when a leftist teacher told Muslim students critical of LGBT activism that they "don't belong."

TheBlaze previously reported that a teacher at Londonderry Junior High School in Edmonton, Alberta, had excoriated students for skipping school "because you think there's some Pride activities going on" that day, noting, "If you don't think that [gay marriage] should be the law, you can't be Canadian. ... You don't belong here, and I really mean it."

After displacing responsibility for the incident and corresponding sentiment, Trudeau insinuated that "this generation and your kids' generation" won't exhibit the previous generation's "uncertainty" about LGBT issues.

Just days before Trudeau's attempt to patch things up with the community, hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Calgary, shouting, "Our kids, our choice!" and "Leave our kids alone!" reported Fox News Digital.

"My brothers and my sisters, we cannot stay hidden any more, for [the issue is] … getting closer to each and every one of us," said Mahmoud Moura. "If you're not a father today, tomorrow you will be. If you're not a mother today, tomorrow will be. You'll have a daughter. Or do you have a son who is of minor age? He's so vulnerable, and you have some hyenas and really powerful predators, they are willing to go. They to do whatever they can take your ... kids away from you."
