Blue State To Use Millions Of Taxpayer Dollars For Free Birth Control
'Protect reproductive freedom'
Gen Z pop icon Olivia Rodrigo is quickly becoming a household name. Famous for songs like “drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and “deja vu,” the 21-year-old singer is now considered one of the top artists in the world.
Unfortunately, Rodrigo, like many Hollywood stars, is using her platform “to shape the minds of her young, very malleable, very impressionable audience to make it seem like abortion is not only okay but great,” says Allie Beth Stuckey, who admires the singer for her “very catchy” music rather than her political activism.
During her world tour “Guts,” Rodrigo has made it a point to “[distribute] free Plan B” (or Julie) to her audience.
While Plan B and Julie are marketed as medications that can “stop you from getting pregnant,” in reality, neither “actually stops fertilization,” making them abortive methods of birth control, according to Allie.
However, that’s not all that Rodrigo distributes at her concerts.
According to Variety, “Olivia Rodrigo has made good on her promise to expand awareness and access to reproductive healthcare, inviting the organization Right by You to distribute free emergency contraceptives, condoms and information about abortion to fans on her ‘Guts’ world tour. Concertgoers at her March 12 show in St. Louis, Mo., were able to grab a package that includes two boxes of Julie – an emergency contraceptive that helps prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex – as well as cards with QR codes linking to abortion access resources and the Missouri Abortion Fund. Fans also reported free condoms and stickers being passed out.”
In a video that aired prior to her tour launch, Rodrigo said, “For the North American life of the ‘Guts’ World Tour, I'll be partnering with the National Network of Abortion funds to help those impacted by healthcare barriers and getting the reproductive care they deserve.”
Further, in 2022, following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Rodrigo paused a concert to say, “Our body should never be in the hands of politicians. I hope we can use our voices to project our right to have a safe abortion, which is a right so many people before us have worked so hard to get.”
For Allie, who believes that “life starts at conception,” Rodrigo’s political stunts are highly problematic, especially considering her audience members consist of mostly teenagers.
The left loves to push the faulty ideology that abortion somehow is equivalent to “reproductive health care,” but abortion is “neither reproduction nor health care,” says Allie.
“Reproductive health care, reproductive justice, access, equality, autonomy, choice — these are all euphemisms to cover up what is objectively a very brutal and bloody practice.”

Gen-Z pop star Olivia Rodrigo said she partnered with a national abortion network and decided to give out emergency contraceptives — often referred to as the morning-after pill — to concert attendees on her tour.
As part of her Guts World Tour, Rodrigo partnered with the National Network of Abortion Funds in order to give away the emergency birth control called Julie, which is meant to prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex.
"With Julie, people are getting more than a pill; they're getting the information and support they need to make the best decisions. We want to help our customers live out a better morning after," the manufacturer said in a press release.
"Before I pop onstage, I wanted to come on here and talk about things I'm really excited about," Rodrigo told her nearly 900,000 TikTok followers. "The 'Fund 4 Good' works to support all women, girls, and people seeking reproductive health freedom. The fund will directly support community-based nonprofits that champion things like girls' education, support reproductive rights, and prevent gender-based violence."

Rodrigo's Fund 4 Good will work through the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit.
Its mission statement called it a "global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for women and girls through direct support of community based non-profits that champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence."
The new fund was unable to stick with just the abortion issue, however, as it also announced it would be fighting racism and misogyny.
"For the North American GUTS world tour, Olivia will partner with local chapters of the National Network of Abortion Funds to ensure those most impacted by systemic racism, misogyny, and healthcare barriers can get the reproductive care they deserve."
Fans of the 21-year-old singer received a progressive care package at Rodrigo's March 12, 2024, show in St. Louis, Missouri.
The package included two boxes of Julie and promotional codes that linked to the Missouri Abortion Fund. Other concert goers reported getting free condoms and stickers at the concert, Variety reported.

Rodrigo is no stranger to political activism; in 2021, at just 18 years old, she appeared at the White House to promote vaccine efficacy with a similarly marketed, kid-targeted tagline that vaccines are "Good 4 U," a play on her hit song of the same name.
The singer has more than 13 million YouTube followers and approximately 37 million followers on Instagram.
She got her start on Disney programming at 13 years old before working on the oddly named "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" from 16 to 19.
Her music career began in 2020 after signing with Geffen and Interscope Records.

A teacher in Tacoma, Washington, is under fire for reportedly distributing a flyer informing eighth-grade students that parental consent is not required to obtain prophylactics such as Plan B, abortions, and more.
The unnamed teacher at Stewart Middle School shared the flyer during science class, according to a Thursday report from KTTH-FM's Jason Rantz.
According to Rantz, the Planned Parenthood-produced flyer included information such as the ages of "sexual consent" for minor children, information on how to obtain testing for sexually transmitted diseases, and that parental consent is not needed for minors who want birth control or even abortions.
A spokesperson for Tacoma Public Schools told Rantz that the flyer was authentic, but that the teacher had no business sharing it with the students.
A portion of the flyer said, "It is not a crime if you are ... 11 and have sex with somebody 2 years older or less; 12 to 13 and have sex with somebody who is 3 years older or less; 14 or 15 and have sex with somebody who is 4 years older or less."
The flyer also added that minor children are permitted to get tested for HIV and STDs so long as they are 14 years or older.

In a statement, Eric Hogan, assistant director of the district's secondary education, told Rantz, "The flyer is not part of our curriculum and should not have been sent home with students."
"Previously, Planned Parenthood taught within our schools and supplied the flyer that was distributed to students," Hogan's statement added. "We discovered a binder of curriculum materials was left behind for an incoming teacher to use for this year, and this flyer was in the binder. Not realizing the flyer wasn't approved material, the teacher sent it home with students."
Hogan added that any other unapproved materials have already been removed from the binder so a similar issue does not take place a second time.
He also said "corrective action" was taken with regard to the employee in question.
Rantz told Fox News, "Passing out the flyer displayed a stunning lack of judgment. In fact, I think one can reasonably conclude it was willful that the teacher may have suspected the flyer to be inappropriate but passed it out anyway. For example, is the teacher a believer in pushing boundaries of materials given to kids, under the impression that they know more than the parents?
"If this wasn't intentional, and the teacher didn't have even the slightest doubt about the material, it shows a notable lack of competence," he added. "What else is the teacher passing out that didn't get the attention of a parent?"
Rantz concluded, "It may be legal for children to get an abortion at any age, without parental consent, in Washington state. But it doesn't mean we should be pushing the message on kids who have otherwise normal relationships with their parents. Anything that tells kids they don't have to talk to loving parents or guardians, particularly on serious issues like abortion or birth control, should never find its way to a child."
