Video: Fight erupts right in front of city 'security ambassadors' — who stand on sidewalk and watch it go down

Cellphone video caught the moment when a fight broke out right in front of West Hollywood "security ambassadors" — who are seen in the clip standing on a sidewalk just feet away and watching the dust-up go down.

What are the details?

KABC-TV reported the apparent road-rage fight took place last week near the intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente Boulevards — as it happens, right outside a Los Angeles County sheriff's station.

The clip shows a man kicking the driver-side door of a white vehicle stopped in a crosswalk.

Soon the driver stepped out, and the fight commenced.

Did the security ambassadors standing on the sidewalk head over and at least politely ask the gentlemen to mind their manners? Apparently not.

KABC said the video showed the security ambassadors "watching but not directly intervening." Before long, however, one of them was seen "speaking into his walkie-talkie, apparently reporting the confrontation," the station said.

The circumstances leading to the street fight were unclear, KABC said.

What are 'security ambassadors'?

The city's website says "the West Hollywood Block by Block Security Ambassador program provides a highly visible uniformed presence at the street level," KABC reported, adding that the 85 unarmed security ambassadors "are deployed on bicycles along major streets, alleys, city parking lots, and residential neighborhoods" and work in collaboration with the local sheriff's station.

The website adds that security ambassadors "provide in-person responses 24/7 to non-violent calls for service" and "conduct safety escorts for residents, businesses, and visitors."

Last summer, the city planned to cut five sheriff's deputies in order to launch the security ambassador program, the station said, but only one deputy position has been eliminated so far.

Anything else?

Interestingly, a leftist militant was caught on video sucker-punching a videographer in the head outside a drag queen story hour in West Hollywood last month — and a sheriff's deputy standing just feet away did nothing in response.

Video: Leftist militant sucker-punches videographer in head outside drag queen story hour — and sheriff's deputy standing just feet away does nothing

A leftist militant was caught on video sucker-punching a videographer in the head outside a drag queen story hour in West Hollywood over the weekend — and a sheriff's deputy standing just feet away did nothing in response.

What are the details?

The aforementioned violence took place Saturday outside the the West Hollywood Library, which drew competing protests over the drag queen reading. The WEHO Times — an LBGTQ-friendly publication — reported that things were "peaceful for the most part. At one point one of the protesters tried to enter the Drag Story Hour space, and he was rushed by supporters of the event, which led to a ruckus inside the library."

In a clip posted to Twitter by Los Angeles reporter Samuel Braslow, a videographer dressed in purple and blue repeatedly begs an L.A. Sheriff's Office deputy standing next to him for protection from a growing number of leftists moving toward him.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @SamBraslow

Not getting any pushback from the deputy, the left-wing mob appears emboldened and closes in. One of them mocks the videographer, crying out in a faux child's voice, "Can you walk me?"

The deputy then begins walking away from the videographer, who asks, "Why are you leaving me, sir?"

Enter a leftist who has completely disguised his body with a hat, black ski mask, dark sunglasses, and black gloves:

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @SamBraslow

Well, that visually anonymous leftist sucker-punches the videographer in the head as if it was a free shot with no consequences.

Apparently it was.

The deputy in question raises a finger at the attacker but makes no move toward him, saying rather half-heartedly, "Stop fighting, sir." Not only did that deputy appear to witness the physical attack, but other deputies standing farther away did also — and none of them did a thing about it:

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @SamBraslow

The rest of the video shows the videographer repeatedly begging deputies to "please don't leave me!" and trying to get away from a crowd of about 10 surrounding him. When the videographer is able to get away, a leftist in sheik garb actually chases after him — right past the deputies, who again do nothing. The videographer then runs into the library lobby to get away from the mob.

Here's the clip:

Braslow posted other videos preceding the punch. One shows the same completely disguised leftist wrestling away the videographer's cell phone as the videographer screams for help, followed by the leftist dressed like a sheik stomping on it. The deputies' response? "Stop fighting! Stop fighting!"

Anything else?

The WEHO Times added that while a small group showed up to protest the story hour, a "larger group of over 50 people rallying in defense of the event" outnumbered the protesters who "dwindled to one person standing by himself on San Vicente Boulevard while holding a sign that read, 'leave kids alone.'"

NATO and China showcase their latest killer drones, turning page on autonomous ground warfare

October was a big month for ground-based killer drones. The Royal Netherlands Army announced on Oct. 14 that it had begun armed robot trials, deploying four armed and unmanned tanks to Lithuania. China similarly showcased defense contractor Kestrel's "combat dog" system in an Oct. 3 video demonstrating the unmanned ground vehicle's carriage by aerial drone and ability to run with a light machine gun.

While UGVs are presently an unreliable supplement to flesh-and-blood ground forces, their development and growing capabilities may signal their future adoption as soulless substitutes.

A new breed of dog

A social media account affiliated with Chinese defense contractor Kestrel released a video earlier this month of an unmanned aerial vehicle dropping off a robotic four-legged dog equipped with what WarZone reported was possibly a Chinese QBB-97 light machine gun, capable of firing 650 rounds per minute.

— Lia Wong (@Lia Wong) 1664871123

A translation of the post in which the video first appeared on the Chinese micro-blog site Weibo said, "War dogs descending from the sky ... Red Wing forward heavy-duty drones deliver combat robot dogs, which can be directly inserted ... behind the enemy to launch a surprise attack."

The post also suggested that the UGV could "be placed on the rooftops and work with troops on the ground to ambush enemies inside buildings."

A longer version of the demonstration shows the Chinese UGV climbing stairs and performing simulated ground operations with human companions.

The same Chinese defense firm also released a video revealing the doglike UGV's ability to carry a loitering munitions launcher.

Unmanned tanks

Armored UGVs are not unprecedented, but have historically been grossly ineffective.

Russia, for instance, deployed its semi-autonomous Uran-9 tanks in Syria in 2016, which proved to be more trouble than they were worth. The technology is, however, improving.

Janes reported that the Royal Netherlands Army became the first Western military to start operational trials with UGVs.

Lt. Col. Sjoerd Mevissen explained that the four Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry Systems tanks that were deployed with the Netherlands' 13th Light Brigade to Lithuania last month "have been handed over for experimental use in an operational unit in a military-relevant environment."

"These are not simply tests on a training ground," said Mevissen. "We are under the direct eyes and ears of the Russians, and as such in a semi-operational environment.

The THeMIS tank's various capabilities are showcased in this video:

THeMIS UGV with the PROTECTOR RWS youtu.be

General Dynamics announced on Oct. 4 that it would be unveiling the AbramsX, a modified version of the Abrams battle tank. Although it will not be a fully unmanned vehicle, General Dynamics indicated that it will have a "reduced crew size and AI-enabled lethality, survivability, mobility, manned/unmanned teaming ... and autonomous capabilities."

Remote-controlled terrors

Killer drones have long been a feature of modern combat. Unmanned aerial vehicles have been on the scene since the 1990s. The Guardian reported that one of their first impactful deployments was in the 1999 Kosovo war, when they were used to identify hidden Serbian positions.

Slate reported that in January 2001, the U.S. armed a Predator drone for the first time, equipping it with a laser-seeker and a Hellfire air-to-ground missile. Several months later, after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, the U.S. recorded its first drone kill when, on Nov. 14, 2001, a Predator-launched Hellfire missile obliterated al Qaeda's Mohammed Atef and six of his terrorist allies.

Drones have been shown to be capable of hitting hard and airborne targets as well.

The first UAV air-to-air kill was recorded in 2017, when a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone shot down another with an infrared guided air-to-air missile, but by then drones were already ubiquitous.

This year, hundreds of lightweight U.S. Switchblades have been deployed in Ukraine, where they have been used to strike small targets.

This is the Power of the Switchblade Drone That Is So Scary! youtu.be

Janes indicated that by 2030, over 80,000 surveillance drones and nearly 2,000 attack drones will have been purchased. A 2019 estimate indicated that the biggest purchaser of combat drones over the next decade would be the United States, with over 1,000 prospective purchases. China was a distant second, looking to acquire only 68 drones.

With tensions rising between the U.S. and both China and Russia, as well as smaller international conflicts, those estimates may prove conservative.

Horowitz: Why are Republicans going along with the blank check for Ukraine?

Over the past two generations of foreign policy blunders, our government has failed to formulate an exit strategy. Now, as it relates to the endless transfer of cash and arms to the capricious Ukrainian government, we don’t even have an entry strategy. Nobody could explain in a few coherent sentences what exactly we hope to accomplish, how our sacrifice will sustain anything in the face of inveterate ethnic conflicts in eastern Ukraine, or why it’s worth exacerbating the worst supply chain crisis in our lifetime. All Republicans know is that they want to trip over themselves to outbid Biden’s virtue-signaling on the dime of American taxpayers and consumers.

We thought Republicans learned their lesson from COVID legislation not to jump on expensive, civilization-changing legislation just to be on the “right side” of the new, ephemeral “current thing,” but we were wrong. When Biden pledged his original cash payments and weapons to Ukraine’s fractured civilization, Republicans demanded that he spend even more money. We got $13.6 billion out of that deal. Then all but 10 Republicans in the House just voted for an unconditional “lend-lease” weapons transfer program. Now Biden is demanding another $33 billion in spending, $20 billion of which will be more arms. Those are Iraq/Afghanistan level numbers.

There are certain basic questions anyone should be asking at this point. Republicans should start demanding answers to the following:

 • Where are the money and arms going, and how are they not going toward the neo-Nazi Azov brigade that will, in the small chance they defeat the Russians, continue persecuting the ethnic Russians and fuel an intermittent conflict with Russia in perpetuity?
 • Why has our government, and the Biden family in particular, been so obsessed with Ukraine for years, and how do we know this money is not going to fund the very same grifting elements behind the Russia collusion story?
 • Don’t we first want to investigate why the same players involved in the Wuhan research have been involved with the bio-labs in Ukraine and how this funding is affecting those endeavors and the corrupt people behind them?
 • Ukraine is on Russia’s border, and in the eastern part of the country, Ukrainians are Russian kinsmen. Especially after the sacrifice of the past few months, Russia is not budging. There is no way arms and cash will ever deter or dissuade the Russians. All they will accomplish is to continue to fuel the macro-war and more internal ethnic bloodshed with an uncontrolled flow of weapons. Short of a full-scale allied invasion against Russia, this “middle ground” of cash and weapons will actually fuel the worst outcome. How will this not result in more needless bloodshed?
 • Then again, forgetting about commitment of troops, the other European countries have barely devoted a fraction of the funding that we have. If the Europeans clearly aren’t worried about this being the “Poland and Hitler moment of 1938,” then why are we barreling head-first into the next Sunni vs. Shia-equivalent dumpster fire?
This chart shows military aid to Ukraine during month 1 of the warpic.twitter.com/FqQKtTJgOn
— Samuel Ramani (@Samuel Ramani) 1650648301
 • All the while, the more we fuel the war rather than encourage Zelenskyy to give up what is already given up, we will make Americans (and the world) suffer with endless supply shortages. The Western oligarchs have been open about the fact that prolonging the Ukrainian conflict will help transition us away from individual freedom and our abundance of fossil fuels. Diederik Samsom, chief of staff for Frans Timmermans, the European commission’s executive vice president responsible for energy policy, recently said that the “geopolitical imbalances” have made us realize “we have paid way too little” for food and fuel in the past 40 years.

As for the latter point, that might be an added feature to this strategy for the left, but conservative Republicans supposedly care about American taxpayers and consumers. So why are they, including Freedom Caucus members, unquestioningly joining this morass?

There is no greater ally to Ukraine than Israel, with tremendous cultural and economic ties. Israel has taken in a lot of refugees. But at the same time, the Israeli prime minister advised Zelenskyy to give in to Putin’s demands on the ethnic Russian territories and NATO membership. The Israelis understand that this cost is already sunk from years of weak NATO and U.S. policies that on the one hand poked the Russian bear relentlessly, but then weakened their own hard and soft power deterrents both on military power and energy independence – placing them at the mercy of the Kremlin’s demand.

Last Thursday, all but 10 Republicans voted for a bill (S.3522) that will allow the DOD to transfer any weapon of war aside from nuclear weapons to the tenuous Ukrainian government.

Do we even know where these weapons are landing? In a recent expose, CNN quoted a defense official who conceded, “It drops into a big black hole, and you have almost no sense of it at all after a short period of time."

"I couldn't tell you where they are in Ukraine and whether the Ukrainians are using them at this point," a senior defense official told reporters earlier this year regarding Mi-17 helicopters, 155 mm Howitzer cannons, Switchblade drones, and Javelin and Stinger missiles.

This after the Pentagon just admitted to leaving $7 billion in weaponry behind in Afghanistan.

So, after two decades of funding multiple sides of every Middle Eastern conflict, in which our weapons kept trading sides as quickly as Harper’s Ferry changed hands in the U.S. Civil War, we’ve learned nothing from our blunders? It’s no wonder the White House had to enlist the help of “TikTok stars” to propagate support for its Ukrainian escapade. Sadly, Republicans didn’t even need convincing.

And who are we supporting? Is the Ukrainian regime really worse than Putin? The civil rights violations are appalling. Have we even conditioned the aid to democratic reforms? Of course not.

Ukraine militants take the AP with them as they they arrest and remove critics of the regime. Many Americans think this is OK.

When Biden rounds up Americans, they’ll use the same logic as the fascist enablers of Ukraine.

“It’s war.”pic.twitter.com/MN2w9nHeJ5
— Cernovich (@Cernovich) 1651443827

Republicans and conservative media had a good laugh out of Biden’s horrifically incoherent, and essentially insane, statement attempting to articulate who and what we are fighting in Ukraine. However, the laugh is really on them, because their strategic thinking is just as gibberish. At least Biden can blame it on cognitive decline.

Anti-mask protesters storm LA County stores: 'People die, your father's not special'

Anti-mask protesters in California staged demonstrations against coronavirus safety restrictions at several stores in Los Angeles on Sunday, leading to some violent altercations, drawing police attention, and involving plenty of shouting.

Videos of the protests were shared by Beverly Hills Courier writer Samuel Braslow on Twitter, who documented the protesters as they began demonstrating at a Century City Ralph's grocery store and moved on to the Westfield mall.

In the first video, an unmasked man walks into the grocery store as another masked customer recording with his smart phone repeatedly asks him to put on a mask and warns "you're gonna get sick." Other shoppers shout unintelligibly in the background.

Some violent altercations broke out as the protesters were met with opposition from shoppers.

One woman who refused to wear a mask at the Ralph's grocery store claimed that a masked customer hit her and in response she attempted to ram him with her shopping cart and shouted at him. She was later seen kicking the man.

The maskless protesters then moved on to the nearby Century City Mall, where they entered Bloomingdale's and other stores. Store staff unsuccessfully attempted to make the protesters leave. LAPD reportedly arrived at the scene but did not attempt to remove the protesters from the premises.

The protesters chanted "no more masks!" as they moved throughout the stores, which are privately owned.

Big 'Freedom Rally' in Beverly Hills ends after attack on Trump supporter by counterprotesters and unlawful assembly declared

In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton expectedly and handily beat Donald Trump in the overwhelmingly blue Los Angeles County by a margin of 2,464,364 to 769,743. Beverly Hills, which is in the Democratic stronghold of Los Angeles County, has seen several well-attended pro-Trump rallies this election season. On Saturday, the last pro-Trump rally in Beverly Hills before the 2020 presidential election occurred, but it was marred by violence after counterprotesters stoked tensions.

A large group of pro-Trump supporters gathered in Beverly Hills for a festive "USA Freedom Rally" on Saturday afternoon. Later in the day, the rally morphed into a MAGA parade with supporters chanting: "U-S-A! U-S-A!"

However, even before the 3 p.m. rally kicked off, black-clad counterprotesters dressed in tactical gear marched from Roxbury Park towards the USA Freedom Rally. Police separated the two groups for the most part, but at one point a Trump supporter and a mob of counterprotesters converged.

Video shows a throng of demonstrators dressed in all-black swarm a man holding an American flag. Then a person seems to pepper-spray the man with the flag; he retaliated by swinging his flag pole at them. As more members of the mob advance towards him, he takes more swings to keep the distance between them.

A man wearing a black helmet with the acronym "ACAB," which stands for "All Cops Are Bastards," attempts to wrestle the American flag from the Trump supporter. Then several other black-clad members jump in and pummel the man from all sides. One person is seen hitting the Trump supporter in the back of the head with a pole.

The man gets away for a second and then is clobbered again by the mob. They punch, kick, and smash him with objects as he is defenseless on the ground.

Police finally intervene to separate the two groups. The Trump supporter is taken aside for medical attention and was treated by the Beverly Hills Fire Department. The Trump supporter is seen holding his arm in pain and with a bloody face.

"Approximately 40 protesters did assemble at Roxbury Park and then marched to the USA Freedom Rally," Lt. Max Subin of the Beverly Hills Police Department told Fox News. "A couple of the members got into a violent attack on a pro-Trump member. It was at that point that an unlawful assembly was declared."

Subin said there were no arrests.
