Slack co-founder's missing teen daughter found in white van with 26-year-old male suspect: 'The allure of drugs'

Over the weekend, the missing teen daughter of two tech moguls was found inside a white van in San Francisco. The girl appears to be safe, and the suspect who owns the van is now in jail.

On April 21, the 16-year-old daughter of Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield reportedly left a note to inform her family that she had run away from her home in Bolinas, California, about 30 miles from San Francisco.

Fake and Butterfield co-founded Flickr in 2004, and Butterfield later co-founded Slack, a messaging application popular with many businesses. Blaze News is not reporting their daughter's name.

As the days ticked by without any sign from the girl, her parents and other friends and family became increasingly worried as the girl reportedly had a drug problem and had threatened to commit suicide at least once in the past. Police likewise considered the girl to be "an at-risk missing person."

Perhaps adding further complication to the case was the fact that the girl reportedly identifies as "nonbinary" and prefers "they/them" pronouns, though previous reports did describe her as female. A press release from the Marin County Sheriff's Office also refers to the teen as "she" on one occasion.

Through their investigation, MCSO detectives learned that the girl may have run off with Christopher "Kio" Dizefalo, a 26-year-old San Francisco parking valet identified in the press release as the teen's "adult friend." Dizefalo reportedly owns a white van, which was located late Saturday night in Tenderloin, a shady area of San Francisco "known for homelessness, crime, and drugs," Business Insider reported.

Thankfully, the girl was found inside the van. She was "uninjured," the MCSO press release said, and she apparently reiterated to detectives that she had left with the suspect "voluntarily."

Whether the girl was a willing participant or not, Dizefalo may be in deep trouble. The MCSO press release noted vaguely that he was arrested "for multiple criminal violations," but a review of Marin County Jail records indicates that those charges include child stealing and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, both felonies. He remains in custody on $50,000 bail.

Still, the MCSO has also given mixed messages. Even with the felony charges against Dizefalo, MCSO spokesperson Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn told the San Francisco Standard Sunday evening, "I don’t think there was foul play related to kidnapping or anything else, which is what some people were saying is what happened." He claimed the charges are "based on statements that were made and some work that our detectives were able to uncover." Schermerhorn declined to comment further.

A statement from the girl's parents and stepfather — Jyri Engeström, yet another tech mogul — expressed relief and gratitude about the teen's safe "recovery" and suggested she may have been "groom[ed]" by the suspect.

"A heartfelt thanks to all the family, friends, volunteers and strangers who called in tips and made this recovery possible," the statement said. "We especially want to thank the seasoned law enforcement officers who understand the very real threat of predators who use the allure of drugs to groom teenagers."

The girl has since been returned to her family.

Slack permanently suspends Libs of TikTok, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon reports

Slack has permanently suspended Libs of TikTok, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon reported early Saturday morning.

"@SlackHQ has permanently suspended @libsoftiktok," Seth Dillon posted at 1:16 a.m. Saturday morning.

"If your business is defending kids, Slack doesn’t want your money," Babylon Bee's CEO added, appending a screenshot of Slack's notification of the suspension.

Dillon's non-satire site, Not The Bee, also confirmed the news.

"How much do you want to bet that the 'violation of the policy' is that Slack's woke staff were just bothered by how popular and successful LOTT has become?" Not The Bee author Daniel Payne wrote of the dust up.

"We are writing to let you know that we have suspended your workspace ... for violations of our Acceptable Use Policy," the screenshot Dillon posted says, in part.

"As highlighted in Slack's Acceptable Use Policy, Slack may exercise its right to suspend or terminate your access," the message also says.

The message Dillon posted goes on to say Slack refunded the "most recent" $75 monthly charge," and that they can provide a "copy of the data stored in your Slack instance" via electronic file transfer on request.

Salesforce's customer success account responded to Dillon, saying the team was "looking into this issue." Salesforce acquired Slack in June 2021.

Reaction on social media was swift.

"Insane," Christina Pushaw tweeted from her personal account. Pushaw served as rapid response director for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) during his campaign.

Political commentator Keith Olbermann suggested Raichik was a "domestic terrorist" who was "terrorizing the innocent."

Who is Libs of TikTok?

Chaya Raichik, who formerly posted anonymously as @LibsOfTikTok on Twitter, is a social media commentator, creator and author. She is best known for re-posting extremely controversial content that liberals originally post on the video-based social media platform called TikTok.

The Washington Post's Taylor Lorenz exposed Raichik's identity in April 2022. Lorenz and colleagues have since suggested Raichik is responsible for threats on children's hospitals.

Raichik has been a regular guest of Fox News Channel's "Tucker Carlson Tonight." In those interviews, Raichik discusses how she has been ruthlessly targeted by left-leaning outlets and media figures for her work exposing extremists who target children.

Raichik's most recent endeavor involves publishing a children's book called "No More Secrets: The Candy Cavern."

"I wanted to do the next step, which is to give parents and children a tool that they can use to actually be able to spot predatory behavior," Raichik told the New York Post Saturday about her picture book debut.

Raichik's aim with the book is to teach children "if there is a trusted adult or an authority who's telling you to keep secrets from your parents ... then that is a big red flag."

How is Seth Dillon and the Babylon Bee Involved?

After Lorenz revealed Raichik's identity, Dillon said he made a deal with her "that will turn her heroic, high-risk work into a career." Dillon is the CEO of satire site The Babylon Bee, a popular site among conservative readers. Though Dillon said he had not hired Raichik to work for the Bee, the pair worked out a suitable arrangement, according to The Wrap.

“3/ I think they'll also be surprised by the support she receives. I want them to know that she won't be canceled from her job because this *is* her job now. I've worked out a deal with her that will turn her heroic, high-risk work into a career.”

Slack yanks service away from the Federation for American Immigration Reform and accuses the organization of being a 'hate group'

Slack, a platform that some companies use to enable workers to communicate with each other, has yanked its service away from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an organization that advocates for decreasing the level of immigration into the U.S.

Fox News reported that a Slack spokesperson noted in a statement that utilizing the service "to encourage or incite hatred or violence against groups or individuals violates our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service, and is antithetical to our values and the very purpose of Slack."

"When we learn of an organization using Slack for illegal, harmful or other prohibited purposes, we conduct an investigation and take appropriate action in accordance with our policy," the spokesperson said, according to the outlet. "We suspended the account in question, which is affiliated with a known hate group, after determining that it violated our policy. The use of Slack by hate groups runs counter to everything we believe in at Slack and is not welcome on our platform."

FAIR president Dan Stein told Fox News Digital that the organization supports secure borders and an end to unlawful immigration.

"FAIR is a mainstream organization by historical standards. Basically, we want border security, border control, stop illegal immigration," Stein said. "And we're not anti-immigrant. We love immigrants, but we want it to be moderated and a reasonably enforceable limit annually. Is this rocket science?"

Stein wrote to Slack and protested the company's action against FAIR.

"According to the documents you site as legally binding, FAIR is entitled to notice and a 30-day opportunity to cure any defects in performance. We received no such notice and opportunity to cure. Please reinstate our account and provide us with the specific violations of your terms of service, with reference to any activities or statements on your platform, so that we may cure the defects. In the alternative, please reinstate our account so that we may preserve our business records that rightfully belong to us," Stein wrote.

"You have, without any notice and opportunity to download files, stolen over six years of our intellectual property. This is a substantial injury to our business operations and we will act accordingly," Stein declared. "We have a battery of attorneys on staff and outside legal counsel as well, and more than sufficient resources at our disposal to ensure our rights are protected."

Leftist Twitter workers losing it over 'a**hole' Elon Musk buying company, alleged internal messages show: 'We’re all going through the five stages of grief'

Some Twitter employees are angry and indignant over Elon Musk's headline-grabbing purchase of the controversial social media platform, conservative journalist Andy Ngo wrote in a piece for the New York Post.

Ngo said those sentiments showed up in leaked internal messages from the Slack communication app, the Post reported. Ngo added in his own Twitter post that employees' "biggest fear is [former President] Donald Trump being unbanned" and that many of them "express strong hatred toward" Musk and "say they’re sick of hearing about 'free speech.'"

From my sources: Vocal Twitter employees on internal chats indicate their biggest fear is Donald Trump being unbanned. Many express strong hatred toward @elonmusk & say they’re sick of hearing about “free speech.” They’re concerned about their mental health. #ElonMuskBuyTwitter

What allegedly was posted?

“Physically cringy watching Elon talk about free speech,” a site reliability engineer wrote, the paper said.

The Post said a senior staff software engineer — who called Musk an “a**hole" and attempted to console his colleagues — wrote, “We’re all going through the five stages of grief in cycles and everyone’s nerves are frazzled. We’re all spinning our wheels, and coming up with worst case scenarios (Trump returns! No more moderation!). The fact is that [Musk] has not talked about what he’s planning on doing in any detail outside of broad sweeping statements that could be easily seen as hyperbolic showboating."

A senior staff video engineer indicated his departure was imminent, the paper reported: “Not the place to say it perhaps, but I will not work for this company after the takeover.”

Ngo added that after a time of venting over Musk's Twitter purchase, some employees warned that their Slack messages could be searched — and with that, they moved their chats to personal devices using the encrypted app Signal.

The Post added that even before Musk's $44 billion offer was accepted Monday, Twitter employees had been fuming about their soon-to-be new boss and his pro-free-speech views.

A reliability engineering manager said Musk’s love of free expression for all "is cover for ‘I want to not be held accountable for saying or amplifying harmful things,'" the paper reported.

Another engineer wrote that “self-reported censorship is sometimes just horrible people f***ing around and then find[ing] out," the Post reported, adding that a senior content strategist replied, “And it doesn’t happen often enough.”

Ngo added that the aforementioned content strategist worked as a left-wing political operative during his non-Twitter hours and led many conversations heavily critical of Musk.

“Sometimes I think it can’t be as bad as I’m imagining it’ll be," she wrote in response to a Musk tweet last week. "Then I see something like this, and I’m all ‘nope it’ll be even worse.'"
