1 killed, 5 wounded in shooting at Bronx subway station after a fight; police are hunting for suspect



Police are searching for an alleged shooter who killed one person and injured five others during a fight at a subway station in the Bronx borough of New York City, New York.

“This is not a random act of shooting. We believe this stemmed from a dispute that took place. And we are now looking for the suspect or suspects that are involved,” said Mayor Eric Adams to WPIX-TV.

Police said the shooting was reported at about 4:38 p.m. at the subway station at Mount Eden and Jerome Avenue after a fight on the No. 4 train spilled out onto the subway platform.

A 35-year-old man was reported dead, according to police. Among the injured were a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman, and a 71-year-old man. One victim has critical injuries while the others are in serious condition.

No arrests were made at the time, and police appear to be searching for the shooter.

Social media video showed a large police presence at the subway station, which is located near Yankees Stadium. Video from a news helicopter showed blood spilled onto the subway platform while police investigated.

A witness to the shooting told Daily News what he saw.

“The train was coming and there were two kids yelling. There were at least six shots," said Efrain Feliciano.

“I saw sparkles as the bullets hit the wall,” he added. “A woman was holding a child screaming.”

The New York Times reported that violent crime on the subways is rare. In 2022, there were nine shootings on subways while there were only five shootings in 2023. In November, a man fired off a gun in order to scare away a homeless man who was allegedly trying to rob a woman in the subway. Police later arrested the shooter and filed four gun charges against him.

The "No Spin News" host hopes that New York City can recover from COVID lockdowns and a surge in crime. Citing the rebound that happened during the Rudy Giuliani administration, O'Reilly says that strong leadership and law enforcement can work wonders in the Big Apple.

Jason asserts that an election cycle or a new set of politicians would save New York City from itself. "I just can't imagine New York's brand being more damaged than now," Jason says.

"If I ran New York City, Jason, with all humility, this wouldn't be happening," O'Reilly responds.

BREAKING: Multiple people shot in Brooklyn subway; police find several 'undetonated devices'



At least five people were shot inside a subway station in Brooklyn, New York, early Tuesday, and police are reporting that several undetonated devices have also been located at the scene.

The incident occurred at the 36th Street and 4th Avenue station in Sunset Park at approximately 8:30 a.m., police said.

WNBC-TV reported that law enforcement officials are describing the suspect as a black male who is roughly 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was reportedly wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest at the time of the shooting.

The outlet added that law enforcement sources believe the suspect may have thrown a device prior to opening fire. A manhunt for the gunman is now under way, according to WABC-TV.

The New York City Fire Department and other emergency medical responders have arrived on the scene to treat victims.

The extent of the victims' injuries was not immediately clear, but photos and videos posted on social media showed several people bloodied from the gunfire and lying on the ground. Some appeared to be injured in their legs.

Police have not yet offered further information regarding the undetonated devices.
