Burning desire: Police say Florida woman set Tinder date on fire, suspect found naked and bragging she blew up a vehicle

A Florida man was playing with fire when he went on a date with a woman he met on Tinder. Police said the Tinder date went up in flames when the Florida woman set a man she met on the dating app on fire.

Destiny Lenai Johnson, 25, was arrested on Nov. 25 and charged with three felonies of attempted murder, first-degree arson, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, according to Miami-Dade County records.

The pair attempted to ignite a spark by meeting up when Johnson reportedly invited the man to meet her at a hotel near Miami. A burning desire allegedly motivated the man to visit Johnson around 5 a.m. on Nov. 25 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Kendall, Florida.

Johnson approached the man's vehicle while carrying what appeared to be a gallon water jug, according to the arrest report.

The man had the hots for the woman until she purportedly asked him for money to fix her car.

The Miami Herald reported, "After the man gave Johnson the $60 he had on him, he said her demeanor changed rapidly, yelling, 'You guys are out to get me.' She then poured a yellow liquid that smelled like gasoline from the jug onto the front passenger seat of his vehicle, the man told police."

During the heated encounter, “ignitable fluid” reportedly spilled on the man. Johnson is accused of igniting the fluid with a lighter – setting fire to the interior of his SUV, his right arm, and herself.

The man told police that he jumped out of the vehicle and rolled on the asphalt to extinguish the flames burning his body.

The man said he took out his firearm because he was in fear that the woman would attempt to set him on fire again. Johnson allegedly fled the fiery crime scene, and the man went to the front desk at the hotel to call the police.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed the man to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

According to USA Today, "A 911 call was made a few hours later from less than a mile away about a naked woman with burns saying that she blew up a vehicle."

Police located Johnson and she was taken to the same hospital.

Johnson allegedly told police that she was a victim of sex trafficking.

Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge Lody Jean ordered her not to have any contact with the alleged victim and she was denied bail.

The suspect is currently being held at the Miami-Dade County’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.

Man allegedly matches with dead wife on Tinder

As the Halloween season looms, one man's tale about matching with his deceased wife on Tinder was seen more than 6.5 million times on TikTok in less than a week.

The strange incident was read out loud on the Ghost Huns podcast and subsequently shared to their TikTok account. The post reeled in more than 3,000 comments, according to the Daily Mail.

@ghosthunspod

dead wife is on... tinder #ghosthuns #podcastclips #tinder #scarytiktoks #scarystorytime #creepy #spooky #ghoststories #ghosts #wife #spookyseason #spookyszn #creepytok

The host of the podcast, Suzie Preece, read out the bizarre story from the point of view of a man named Derek. She kicked off the segment by reading, "I just matched with my dead wife on Tinder. I had numbly swiped left so many times in a row I almost missed it, I wish I had."

"I skimmed through her profile, there was no writing but three other pictures of my dead wife I'd never seen before including one with the statue of Liberty behind her even though I knew she'd never been to New York City, at least to my knowledge."

"I swiped right and breathed for the first time in nearly two minutes."

"I struggled to sleep for the next 48 hours, never getting a match, ready to message Tinder and tell them someone was impersonating my beloved dead wife on the app and doing some kind of magical photoshop to put in her pictures."

Preece carried on with the man's story, saying that the "[t]he match came at 3:33 a.m. It came with a simple message, just a simple 'hi.'"

"I mashed the letters on my phone as hard and fast as I could — who is this? why are you doing this? where did you get these pictures of my wife, she died of cervical cancer two years ago you monster."

Derek apparently received a couple more messages, asking if he was home and to let the person in who was messaging him. He was apparently convinced someone was just playing a joke on him, saying: "Someone had to be f****** about with me but who would be this impossibly cruel and diabolical — there may have been a couple people who didn't like me at work but no one would go anywhere near this far."

Though the story may seem far-fetched, there was someone in the comments of the podcast who claimed that a similar incident had happened to them.

The commenter said: "My late partner put a song on on Amazon playlist. Also, changed my Pinterest account to a pet name only we knew. I believe this 100%."

While the story may have been a story perfectly fit for the Halloween season, there appear to be individuals who honestly believe that Derek really heard from his late wife through Tinder.

The Biggest Lie Of A Generation: A Life Online Is A Life Well Lived

Satisfying every need on the internet is hardly a life at all.

22-year-old Colorado woman enticed Tinder date, only to duct tape, choke, and stab him – then she ordered food from DoorDash: Police

A 22-year-old Colorado woman is accused of committing several felony crimes against a man she had just met on Tinder. The woman duct-taped the 21-year-old victim, choked him with a belt, stabbed him, and then ordered food from DoorDash, according to police.

Lauren Marie Dooley used the dating app Tinder to entice a man to come to her Colorado Springs apartment on Sept. 28, police say. The two sat on the couch and talked for a while before the man said Dooley took off his clothes and performed oral sex on him.

"She then used duct tape to bind [the victim's] wrists together and ankles together," the affidavit said. "[The victim] found it odd, but consented to it. However, when Lauren produced a kitchen knife and demanded he get into her bedroom, [the victim] no longer consented to staying at the residence."

"Fearing Lauren would harm him with the knife, he obeyed and got into her bed," the affidavit stated. "Lauren climbed on top of him and proceeded to use the knife to cut his left shoulder."

"Lauren then used both her hands to apply direct pressure to [the victim’s] throat for approximately 20 seconds, making it difficult to breath," the affidavit read. "Lauren stopped, but only to procure a belt that she then placed around [the victim’s] neck. She tightened the belt for another 20 seconds, once more making it difficult to breath. When she took it off, she checked [the victim’s] neck for a pulse."

She reportedly forced the Tinder date to the bathtub to clean up the blood from the knife wound. Police said they found blood in the bathtub.

After choking and stabbing the victim, Dooley allegedly ordered food from DoorDash. Before the delivery person dropped off the food, the woman reportedly threatened the victim, "If you scream or say anything, I’ll kill you."

After eating, Dooley got into bed with the victim and fell asleep, according to documents.

"According to the affidavit, the victim said he felt Dooley’s knife under the blanket near his feet, so he somehow used it to cut his bonds," Law & Crime reported. "He accidentally woke Dooley when he bumped into a table, but he was able to get outside and call for help, according to the police."

The naked man ran into the parking lot of the Hill Apartments.

Witnesses claimed that Dooley threatened the victim as she smeared blood on her hands.

The man allegedly told Dooley, "You're going to kill me!"

Local resident Lauri Gloria told KRDO that she saw a naked man bleeding in the parking lot with Dooley nearby.

"It scares me. I mean I saw the gentleman," Gloria said. "He was cut pretty good, and to think that someone could do that is pretty scary."

"Pretty shocking to know somebody that lives right around the corner is capable of doing this," Gloria added. "This is really unexpected. All of our neighbors watch out for each other so I hope nothing like this happens again."

Colorado Springs Police Department officers arrived at the apartment complex around 5:43 p.m. They found the unnamed man bleeding from a laceration on his left arm.

Inside Dooley's apartment unit, police officers found a kitchen knife near the bed and several blood-soaked rags, according to the affidavit.

Dooley was arrested and charged with one felony count each of second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and menacing, plus a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment. Dooley faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Dooley is scheduled to appear in El Paso County court on Oct. 6.

GENIUS: David Hogg wants you to match up with Russian soldiers on Tinder to help Ukraine

Gun control activist David Hogg took to Twitter to share a brilliant new idea for how we can all help Ukraine as Russia continues its deadly, multi-front invasion: just find Russian soldiers on social media and dating apps and let them know "how stupid the war is."

-Match with them on Tinder and other dating apps
-Find them on Russian social media
-Post as a “Russian soldier” on Russian social media about how stupid the war is.
-More

Im just trying to think of things more impactful than just posting hashtags.
— David Hogg 🌻 (@David Hogg 🌻) 1645906310

This is but a small sample of the kind of genius we've come to expect from Harvard's special superstar. Case in point, here's Hogg's clever comeback when another Twitter user asked if he really thinks Russian soldiers are concerned with social media and dating apps during combat.

A lot of them are on the younger side like 19 years old I guarantee you if they have a phone even if occasionally in combat they are on social media and likely dating apps too.
— David Hogg 🌻 (@David Hogg 🌻) 1645906372

Not everyone was impressed, however, and they didn't hesitate to let Hogg know it.

Yes cause when getting shot at and advancing on enemies, they're gonna take tinder breaks? Do you know nothing of the real world?

@Harvard come get your boy. He is making your university look bad again.

Right. I'm taking automatic weapons fire. Ooh, she's cute. Swipe right. Shit, I'm dead.
You're the anti-genius.
— Buck Turgidson (@Buck Turgidson) 1645981163
Did you even read that OSS manual that you posted? Do you not appreciate the irony of an anti-gun advocate posting a saboteur manual on the interwebs?

Yeah I'm sure they're outside of Kyiv on Tinder looking for dates. FFS you're an absolute knob.

This is what a Harvard education produces these days, eh?
— Christopher Midnight (@Christopher Midnight) 1645929310

This didn't stop Hogg from continuing his own personal Twitter-assault on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He can end this war right now

That'll teach 'em, David. But wait, there's more:

I’m listening to a twitter space rn on the Ukraine invasion and they brought up a good point- one of the longterm impacts of this invasion of Ukraine could be the explosion of OSINT on social media plus the use of twitter spaces to gather and disseminate information.
