Good Trump: Report says Trump will pull US out of Paris deal

President Donald Trump has made his decision, and the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord, sources “with direct knowledge of the decision” told Axios.

“Details on how the withdrawal will be executed are being worked out by a small team including EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. They're deciding on whether to initiate a full, formal withdrawal — which could take 3 years — or exit the underlying United Nations climate change treaty, which would be faster but more extreme,” Jonathan Swan reports.

According to the AP, a White House official substantiated the expected withdrawal but said there may be "caveats."

The decision comes after 22 Republican senators, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., signed a letter to President Trump calling on the president to make a “clean exit” from the deal. Conservative senators Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., were among those who signed the letter.

The accord reached in Paris was designed to force the agreeing parties to institute policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an attempt to counter global warming. The American Enterprise Institute estimated that the deal would have cost $600 to $750 billion per year while reducing global temperatures by an insignificant 0.17 of a degree. It was also a job-killer, said Sen. Rand Paul who claimed recently the deal would kill six million American jobs.

President Obama intended to impose this international treaty subjecting the U.S. economy to the constraints of a global climate pact without the advice or consent of Congress.

If the report that President Trump is withdrawing the U.S. from the deal is true, it is an excellent decision by the president. Not only has President Trump averted economic disaster for the United States, he has preserved the constitutional powers of Congress by undoing one of President Obama’s most egregious executive overreaches.

President Trump should be applauded by conservatives today.
