Mark Levin rips ‘airhead’ Sen. Cory Gardner for threatening to hold up Trump DOJ nominees

Thursday on his radio program, CRTV host Mark Levin tore into Senator Cory Gardner, R-Colo.

Earlier, Gardner took to the Senate floor to blast Attorney General Jeff Sessions for reversing an Obama administration policy of non-enforcement of federal marijuana laws. Colorado legalized recreational marijuana use in 2012. Sen. Gardner threatened to hold up Department of Justice nominees in the Senate until the attorney general reversed course, claiming that Sessions went back on promises he had made leading up to his confirmation as attorney general.

"He's a complete and utter airhead and lightweight," Levin said of the senator from Colorado.

"Notice, he doesn't have the capacity, he doesn't have the intelligence to change the federal law. He can't persuade his fellow senators to change the federal law, no! But he's gonna stand up and block the Trump Justice Department and the Sessions Justice Department. That's what a Republican is going to do to a Republican administration."

Listen:

Levin's point is this: The executive branch should enforce federal laws. If a law is unpopular, Congress can change it. If Sen. Gardner wants to do something about federal marijuana law, he should propose a bill to decriminalize marijuana and convince his colleagues to change the law. He should not demand that the Justice Department ignore federal law like the Obama administration did.
