Conservative investigative journalist Michelle Malkin, host of CRTV’s “Michelle Malkin Investigates,” has been selected to screen an episode of her hard-hitting show at the Manhattan Film Festival this weekend.
The episode to be screened, “Railroaded — Surviving Wrongful Convictions” from Season 2 of Malkin’s CRTV show, details Malkin’s reporting on individuals who have been wrongfully convicted and later had their convictions overturned.
In the episode, she also follows up with the family of former Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw, who was convicted of rape in 2016. In the Season 1 episodes “Daniel in the Den” parts 1 and 2, Malkin investigated evidence that suggests Holtzclaw may have been wrongfully convicted of these crimes. Here’s the description of the screening:
Jenny Holtzclaw continues a heartbreaking crusade to free her brother, Daniel, who sits in jail and whom she believes was wrongfully accused. We expose questionable DNA evidence which was key to the state’s case against Daniel. At an Innocence Conference, Jenny sits down with Ray Spencer & Jeffrey Deskovic who had their convictions overturned. Ray & Jeffrey speak of their time in prison & fight to get out. We also meet Brian Franklin. Brian was convicted of raping a teenage girl and served two decades behind bars. Eventually, a witness came forward with claims the accuser lied. After a lengthy fight for a retrial, he was finally exonerated and is back home with his family. Join Michelle Malkin as she hosts a short panel on wrongful convictions after the screening.
The screening will take place on Saturday, April 29, at 6:00 p.m. ET at Cinema Village, 22 E. 12th Street, New York City. Afterwards, Malkin will host a panel featuring Jeffrey Deskovic, Jenny Holtzclaw, Iowa biologist Erica Fuchs, and high-profile exoneration attorney Oscar Michelen.
CRTV is giving away three pairs of tickets to the screening and panel discussion.
Tickets to the screening are on sale now.
