Declaring “Each life is a gift from God,” Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is calling for swift action in the U.S. Senate on a pain-capable abortion ban that passed the House of Representatives this week.

The House of Representatives passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act Tuesday, which would penalize abortionists who perform abortions after 20 weeks with up to five years in prison and/or fines.

The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate, where Democrats are likely to stop the bill from reaching the 60 votes it needs to pass.
