The Gang of 8 Amnesty bill was advertised as the panacea to our nation’s illegal immigration crisis and supporters of the bill sold it under the guise of increased border enforcement. Included in the bill are procedures to allow bureaucrats to waive border security requirements and expedite amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants. Simply put, this legislation does not affirm the “rule of law” and only encourages future waves of illegal immigration. The Senate passed this bill on June 27, 2013 by a roll call vote of 68-32.
