Trump, Blumenthal, and the NYT …

The eye of the tweetstorm … Yesterday, after a brief break, the acerbic version of President Donald Trump came back to Twitter. His sights were set squarely on Sen. Blumenthal, D. Conn., reminding his followers of the senator’s stolen valor. The New York Times’ Michael Schmidt jumped on the chance to remind Trump that it was the Times that “broke” the story of the stolen valor.

The Washington Free Beacon’s Alex Griswold reminded Schmidt that the Times only reported the opposition research package the Linda McMahon campaign gave the paper, in a series of three tweets. This is not out of the ordinary during campaigns. The majority of “stories” you hear about politicians during election season are usually the result of oppo dumps.

Speaking of the Times … Just a short while after blaming Sarah Palin for the shooting of Gabby Giffords, the NYT opinion pages are glorifying Lenin. No, really, they are. Here’s the tweet: “What Lenin’s love of camping and hiking did for nature conservation in Russia” Don’t worry; even though Lenin ushered in one of the most murderous governments in history, whose reign of terror lasted eight decades, Lenin loved the outdoors. That means that, like the NY Times, you should love Lenin.

Dissenters need not apply …

Google fires memo writer … Google has fired the writer of the memo that questioned the one-sided political thought culture at the company. The firing pretty much bolsters his claim that there is a lack of diversity of thought at the company. Remember, these are the folks that, like Facebook, through their algorithms determine what is and isn’t news.

But don’t worry, Google said the firing was to ensure that people at the company didn’t have to worry about opening their mouths. Um … OK.

Of course CNN continues to report incorrectly what the memo said. At Matt Walsh notes, the memo never said, as CNN suggests: “Google execs respond to a manifesto by one of its male engineers that argues women aren’t suited for tech jobs”

Vogue has a new crush … In a continuation of the stale trope that every time a guy with grey hair is working to stifle Republicans, he’s sexy as hell, Vogue found a new sexy hero. Yep, Vogue declared that Robert Mueller is the hunk the nation needs. What a great way to fight the Patriarchy.

LOL PolitOpinion … PolitiFact released a chart, as part of a marketing campaign for you to give them money, of the 10 most fact-checked politicians. It showed the percentage of each politician’s statements that were labeled “true” down the spectrum to “pants on fire.” Great, except their bias is on clear display.

A casual look at the chart would make you think Ted Cruz leads the pack with the most lies — because the scale is a percentage of the total fact checks for each politician. However, when you do the underlying math, you find out that they rated Barack Obama “mostly false” to “pants on fire” 138 times. This is 18 more fact checks than they’ve done on Cruz. A sterling case of “How to Lie with Statistics.”

Tell a friend …

I can’t fight back alone against the mainstream media. I need your help. There are two ways you can help. First, send your friends – and even your enemies – over to and have them sign up to get this email. Second, email me at with anything questionable you see the media do. Together, we can fight back.
