California’s Rainbow Color Revolution Just Felled Tennessee, And It’s Not Stopping There
Color revolutions have finally come to the United States, courtesy of our leaders. The target is clear: weak red state governments, including in Tennessee.
CBS News reportedly instructed its newsroom not to refer to the perpetrator of the Covenant School massacre as "transgender."
Top executives at the network told staffers in a memo Tuesday that because CBS News has not corroborated the perpetrator's gender identity, reporters should not include that detail in stories about the massacre.
"The shooter’s gender identity has not been confirmed by CBS News," said the memo, which was distributed Tuesday on an editorial call. "As such, we should avoid any mention of it as it has no known relevance to the crime. Should that change, we can and will revisit."
Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews and Claudia Milne are responsible for the directive, according to the New York Post. Ciprian-Matthews is executive vice president of newsgathering at CBS News and the network's Washington bureau chief. Claudia Milne is senior vice president of standards and practices.
The memo continued, "Right now we advise saying: POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT AS A 28-YEAR-OLD [THE KILLER'S NAME], WHO [sic] THEY SHOT AND KILLED AT THE SCENE."
Rather than focusing stories on the perpetrator's identity, the memo instructed staff to "focus on other important points of the investigation, community and solutions."
In a statement, a spokesperson for CBS News appeared to confirm the report:
We are waiting to see the manifesto [written by the perpetrator] and any details about motive. As we say in our guidance, we will then review and revise our reporting.
A search of CBS News' website further corroborates the directive. The news outlet has published 32 stories related to transgender issues in the past week. Only one of those stories is about the Nashville massacre, and it was published on the day of the atrocity — one day before network executives issued their instructions.
The directive left CBS staffers perplexed because law enforcement has already confirmed the perpetrator was transgender, a biological female who identified as male, and have strongly suggested the perpetrator's identity is central to the motive for the crime. The killer's manifesto, however, has not yet been released.
Internal sources who spoke with the New York Post said CBS staffers were stunned by the directive.
"This is absurd because the police identified [the killer] as transgender," one CBS staffer said. "If the cops didn’t address it, maybe you could avoid it, but withholding information is not journalism."
"This is not an editorial decision," another source said. "They made a judgment based on personal feelings."

The head of school at the Covenant School in Nashville was gunned down when she allegedly rushed the perpetrator who opened fire in the Christian school on Monday.
Nashville City Councilman Russ Pulley told Fox News that head of school Dr. Katherine Koonce was participating in a virtual meeting when she heard the first shots ring out just after 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
She responded by leaving the meeting and rushing toward the perpetrator. It was a horrifying moment that she had prepared for.
"It is my understanding from a witness at the school that Katherine Koonce was on a Zoom call when she heard the first shot. She immediately ended the call, got up and headed straight for the shooter," explained Pulley, a former FBI special agent. "She did what principals and headmasters do; she protected her children.
"In addition, she prepared the school by seeking advanced-level active-shooter training, and from witnesses at the scene, this protocol — details of which I cannot provide — saved countless lives," Pulley explained.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Nashville Police Chief John Drake appeared to confirm the story.
Drake explained that when he entered the school, he saw Koonce's lifeless body in the hallway — not the office where she worked, indicating her movement toward the perpetrator.
"I do know she was in the hallway by herself," Drake explained. "There was a confrontation, I'm sure — you can tell [by] the way she was lying in the hallway."
Another hero now being recognized is 9-year-old Evelyn Dieckhaus, who was also killed on Monday.
According to reports, Dieckhaus was gunned down as she tried to pull the school's fire alarm, a desperate attempt to alert her schoolmates about the killer stalking their halls.

President Joe Biden joked about ice cream before speaking about the shooting massacre at the Covenant School in Nashville.
Speaking at an event for women hosted by the Small Business Association, Biden joked about his penchant for ice cream and how much of the dessert he has stuffed inside a refrigerator.
"My name is Joe Biden. I'm Dr. Jill Biden’s husband," Biden said. "And I eat Jeni's ice cream, chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream.
"By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs," he added. "You think I'm kidding — I'm not."
None— (@)
Several minutes later, Biden addressed the massacre, which he called "heartbreaking." Despite acknowledging that "there's more to learn" about the tragedy, Biden used the moment to reiterate his demand that "assault weapons" be outlawed.
"I call on Congress, again, to pass my assault weapons ban," Biden said. "It's about time that we begin to make some more progress."
"We have to do more to stop gun violence; it’s ripping our communities apart — ripping the soul of this nation," he added. "And we have to do more to protect our schools, so they aren’t turned into prisons."
Later in the event, Biden returned to praising ice cream.
"The businesses represented in this room stretch across industries from restaurants to architectural firms to hardware stores, plus Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams," he said. "By the way, it is splendid. You think I'm joking. If I were allowed to take you upstairs, we got a whole freezer full of Jeni’s chocolate chip ice cream.
"You know, it's pretty dull when you've been in public life as long as I have and you’re known for two things: chocolate chip ice cream and Ray-Ban sunglasses," he continued. "But what the hell, you know?"
One of Biden's signature policy goals is to reinstate the "assault weapons" ban that he helped pass in 1994 as a U.S. senator. The effectiveness of the law is widely debated. Nevertheless, Biden does not have sufficient support in Congress to pass another ban.
