‘That woke me up’: Ana Kasparian’s HORRIFYING story that made her leave the left

Ana Kasparian of “The Young Turks” has notoriously preached Democratic talking points — but it seems her perspective has since shifted.

In a recent interview, Kasparian made this clear when she explained to Jillian Michaels that she has left the left after realizing the dangers of “wokeism.”

“In 2022, it was around March, I was walking my dog. It was not quite dark yet, but the sun was setting. As I’m walking my dog, I see these two guys that were just kind of like moving around weirdly. You know, they seemed kind of manic,” she explained.

“Their clothes were tattered, so I just knew that they were probably homeless, and I also knew that they’re probably on something just based on the twitchy way they were acting,” she continued. “As I was bending down to pick up my dog's mess, one of the guys grabs me by my hips and he had an erection.”

“I didn’t know what to do; I was terrified. I didn’t have a weapon on me; I had no way of defending myself. I didn’t know how far it was going to go, 'cause it’s two guys. I’m by myself with my little dog. It was one of the most terrifying things ever.”

When she decided to open up about it on her own show, she was met with harsh blowback — including being called “racist” despite never disclosing the race of the men who did it.

“I’m starting to get these messages and it’s like really harsh stuff, and it’s about how you are painting a picture of the homeless community, you know, ‘How could you be like this, these are your unhoused neighbors and they need help,’” she told Michaels, adding, “That woke me up.”

Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” is thrilled to see her change her mind.

“I am always very enthused when someone wakes up, and it’s interesting that it takes something so personal, like say a drug-addicted homeless guy with a boner attacking you, that will get people to wake up. So I would say that is a net good,” he says.

Leftist Ana Kasparian says California is 'a s[***] show under Newsom'

Leftist commentator Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks described California as 'a s[***] show under" the leadership of Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat.

"California is *without question* a s[***] show under Newsom. But I guess propping up proven failures is what the Democratic party excels at these days," Kasparian opined in a post on X.

— (@)

Newsom, who has served as governor since early 2019, won reelection last year after surviving a gubernatorial recall election in 2021.

When Chuck Todd of NBC News raised the prospect of Newsom mounting a White House bid if President Joe Biden does not run, the governor responded by suggesting that Vice President Kamala Harris is the person who would be "lined up," but he added that Biden will run and people "need to move past" the idea that the president will not run.

Prior to serving as vice president, Harris served as a U.S. senator from California. She had previously served as the state's attorney general.

Newsom: Democrats need to ‘move on’ from worries over Biden re-election www.youtube.com

Biden, who announced his reelection bid earlier this year, is already the oldest president in U.S. history. He holds a decisive lead over Democratic primary challengers Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson, and appears to be on track to easily clinch the Democratic presidential nomination again.

Former President Donald Trump has been trouncing the entire field of GOP presidential primary candidates and will likely become the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, which means that American voters could see a rematch of the 2020 presidential contest in 2024.

Liberal 'Young Turks' host apologizes for repeatedly amplifying Democratic activist's lies: 'I screwed up royally'

Leftist script-reader Ana Kasparian of "The Young Turks" apologized Wednesday for parroting multiple false claims made by a disgraced critic of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

For having been fooled and in turn fooling her audience for years, Kasparian said, "I should've done my due diligence. I failed to do so. By failing to do so, I feel like I misled the audience into thinking that Rebekah Jones is some sort of hero."

What did she get wrong?

Rebekah Jones, the woman who lost a congressional race in a landslide to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) last year and who has up until recently enjoyed Kasparian's support, is a former Florida Department of Health data analyst who was fired for insubordination, having intentionally crashed the state's COVID dashboard.

Around the time of her dismissal, Jones accused the DeSantis administration of fudging its coronavirus data — a claim later determined to have been false by Florida Inspector General Michael J. Bennett.

"Based upon an analysis of the available evidence, the alleged conduct, as described by the complainant, did not occur," concluded the inspector's report.

Police later executed a search warrant on Jones' Tallahassee house after a data breach involving the theft of 19,000 employees' personal information was linked to the disgraced former data analyst's home IP address.

The National Review noted that while DeSantis had nothing to do with the warrant or its execution, Jones accused the governor of targeting her with his "gestapo." Furthermore, she suggested that police pointed weapons at her children, which bodycam footage later proved to have also been false.

Despite indications that Jones had a loose relationship with the truth, liberal media outlets, including Kasparian's, continued to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Last week, Jones' 13-year-old son was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot up his school.

Officials in Santa Rosa county indicated that Jones' son had made threats online in February that he would shoot up Holley Navarre Middle School and stab students who angered him, reported the Pensacola News Journal.

According to investigators, the teen wrote:

 • "I want to shoot up the school";
 • "Okay so it’s been like 3-4 weeks since I got on my new antidepressants and they aren’t working but they’re suppose to by now so I have no hope in getting better so why not kill the losers at school";
 • "I’m getting a wrath and natural selection shirt so maybe but I don’t think many ppl know what the columbine shooters look like"; and
 • "If I get a gun I’m gonna shoot up hnms lol.:
These threats resulted in a digital threats of terrorism charge.
Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jillian Durkin indicated that following a vacation to Mississippi, Jones turned her son in.

However, Jones later took to Twitter, claiming her son had been "taken on the gov's orders."

"There is no freedom here," wrote Jones. "Only retaliatory rule by a fascist who wishes to be king."

“My family is not safe. My son has been taken on the gov's orders, and I've had to send my husband and daughter out of state for their safety.

THIS is the reality of living in DeSantis' Florida.

There is no freedom here. Only retaliatory rule by a fascist who wishes to be king”
— Rebekah Jones (@Rebekah Jones) 1680741734

Jones insinuated that her son's arrest was politically motivated and that he was targeted because his mother was "a legally-protected whistleblower."

The Democratic activist and failed congressional candidate also accused police of kidnapping her son.

Here is footage allegedly showing Jones waiting with her son at the sheriff's office:

Partisan blindness

Kasparian admitted Wednesday that Jones' latest string of lies gave her pause, prompting her to re-evaluate the other claims she repeated on her show.

Not only did "The Young Turks" host call into doubt Jones' self-description as a whistleblower but the accusations she leveled in 2020 against DeSantis regarding COVID death numbers, the details pertaining to the alleged raid, and the arrest of her son as well.

"Part of the reason why I screwed up is because I had all these biases, of course, against Ron DeSantis," she added. "And I don’t really feel bad about that because I think Ron DeSantis has done some pretty terrible things in the state of Florida, but it becomes a problem when that bias blinds you to what the facts of various stories happen to be."

"We bought this. I bought this. We reported exactly what she said," said Kasparian. "And now I have some degree of regret for doing that."

While admitting some accountability, she suggested the "mainstream media" was especially deserving of blame.

"If they're not doing their due diligence, if they're allowing their personal biases to stand in the way of actual, factual reporting, well, that's unfortunately going to trickle into the way independent news sources cover these stories as well," said Kasparian.

In her apology, Kasparian said, "I want to correct all of those errors that we had previously reported. And I want to be clear that out of everyone who works on the main show, the only person who should be held responsible for that is me. I’m the executive producer of the show and I screwed up royally."

Mediaite reported that Kasparian and "The Young Turks" weren't alone in celebrating Jones and amplifying her lies. MSNBC, CNN, the Washington Post, and the Miami Herald also peddled her narrative.

Far-left pundit Ana Kasparian has a complete meltdown over the cost of climate change policies: 'I am freaking the f*** out!'

Far-left YouTube pundit Ana Kasparian went into an expletive-filled meltdown over the cost of liberal policies to combat climate change.

Kasparian made the comments on a member video feed for the progressive "Young Turks" YouTube channel with co-host Cenk Uygur.

The progressives were discussing California's plans to phase out gas-powered cars and gas stoves when Kasparian launched into a rant about the cost to build charging stations at the housing association where she lives.

"They just ban the sale of any new gas-powered cars or gas stoves," she said. "And so the technology that you have at your home, the gas stove that you have at your home, if it breaks, not only are you not able to buy a new one, but it gets increasingly more difficult, you get what I'm saying?"

"I get it, but that's the normal bumps in the road as you transition to things," Uygur replied.

"I know, but Cenk, don't minimize the financial burdens associated with these things, OK?" she responded.

"Because I am literally freaking the f*** out about the charging station thing," Kasparian said. "We're gonna take out a massive f***ing loan to pay for it! We're not getting any help from the f***ing government on that!"

"Did you, did you guys ask, is there any tax credits?" Uygur asked while receiving a glare from Kasparian. "But seriously, you say there's no government help at all, to transition you guys?"

"Cenk. I don't give a f*** about tax credits!" she interjected.

Uygur tried to mollify Kasparian, but she continued to rant about the cost of the green policies.

"I want to do something in response to climate change, that is not my issue here. My issue is how, like, we're forced to make all these changes that are a financial burden, a giant inconvenience, with little to no help," Kasparian continued.

"And the solution from the government in terms of, 'no no you get financial benefits' for doing this, is f***ing tax credits!"

Kasparian went on to demand the government pay directly for the expensive green energy policies they were implementing.

"No, I don't want the tax credits! Give me the money! Give, you give me the money, OK!" she yelled.

"Don't tell me this bulls*** about how I have to buy some new fucking thing because the government's forcing me to do it, and then like, after I file my taxes, there's a certain portion of that purchase that might be tax deductible," she added in a mocking tone.

"Like f*** off!" she exclaimed. "I'm so sick of it! It's just like endless pressure pressure pressure! I can't take it!!

Kasparian's complaints were quite similar to the warnings given by Republicans and other conservative critics of the green energy policies being advocated by far-left progressives. Uygar was forced to agree with her that the liberal policies were demanding too much from the average person and the middle class.

"Oh the middle class is the most f***ed group of people in this country!" Kasparian exclaimed.

Kasparian has also been excoriated by the left for departing from the progressive narrative about the transgender agenda.

Here's the video of Kasparian's comments:

'I'll never apologize': Leftist Ana Kasparian stands firm after rejecting 'birthing person' terminology

Ana Kasparian of "The Young Turks" is standing behind her view that terms such as "birthing person" are degrading to women.

The left-wing media figure faced blowback from other leftists last month after she spoke out against terminology sometimes used to refer to women, such as "person who menstruates."

"I'm a woman. Please don't ever refer to me as a person with a uterus, birthing person, or person who menstruates. How do people not realize how degrading this is? You can support the transgender community without doing this s***," Kasparian tweeted in March. "I'm sure a lot of women don't want to be minimized to a bodily function or body part," she noted in another tweet.

“I'm a woman. Please don't ever refer to me as a person with a uterus, birthing person, or person who menstruates. How do people not realize how degrading this is? You can support the transgender community without doing this shit.”
— Ana Kasparian (@Ana Kasparian) 1679509772

In a Monday tweet, Kasparian stood firm, noting that she will not apologize for wanting to be called a woman.

"Lol! The meltdowns over wanting be referred to as a woman rather than a 'birthing person' is pretty wild. I'll never apologize for that, especially as biological woman who has had a f***ing lifetime of being told I'm less than. I'm a woman. No apologies," she wrote.

Her recent post earned more backlash from the left.

"You win the Oscar, Emmy and Grammy for Most Toxic White of the Weekend. Bravo for you," Race2Dinner co-founder Saira Rao tweeted.

"You'll be on J.K. Rowling's level of TERFyness within 2 years at this rate," tweeted Ashton Pittman of Mississippi Free Press, using an acronymn that stands for "trans-exclusionary radical feminist."

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire responded to Kasparian's post by tweeting, "Ana, you have repeatedly accused me of being a transphobe in the past. Are you starting to see how that label is nonsense used to silence those who speak up in defense of basic common sense?"

Transgender activists attack far-left pundit Ana Kasparian for dissenting from the LGBTQ agenda: 'F*** off with this stupid made up bulls**t'

A far-left pundit was excoriated by transgender activists and allies after she dissented on a key point of the LGBTQ agenda.

Ana Kasparian gained fame as a far-left co-host of the progressive "Young Turks" channel on YouTube, but she issued a tweet that was attacked by liberals as being far-right and bigoted.

"I'm a woman. Please don't ever refer to me as a person with a uterus, birthing person, or person who menstruates," Kasparian tweeted.

"How do people not realize how degrading this is? You can support the transgender community without doing this s***," she added.

"I'm sure a lot of women don't want to be minimized to a bodily function or body part," she added in a second tweet.

Kasparian was accused of regurgitating TERF talking points, which is an acronym meant as a slur against feminists for having "Transgender Exclusionary Radical Feminist" ideals.

"Oh f*** off with this stupid made up bulls***. Trans folks are having their existence criminalized in state after state and you want to whine about this s***," responded Alejandra Caraballo, a transgender activist.

"Actually thought you were one of the good ones but clearly I was wrong. Buying into the transphobic hysteria and spreading more Ignorance and hate to a minority going through absolute hell right now.. Shameful," replied Roly West, an LGBT YouTube creator and Twitch streamer.

"[H]i ana, no one is asking you to call yourself or be called anything other than a woman. anatomy-oriented language is used in a clinical context, where anatomy is relevant. this argument is like a mouse trap set up by TERFs, please don’t take the bait," read a tweet from a person identifying themselves as a "friendly queer jew."

"There are multiple U.S. States banning trans healthcare, threatening to imprison parents of trans kids, trying to forcibly detransition trans kids etc. so now is definitely the time for a well-known progressive journalist to tweet out a transphobic talking point," read another popular tweet.

Kasparian was also accused of turning rightward in 2021 when she criticized Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom over the deteriorating standard of living in California and announced her support for his ouster via recall. That recall effort was unsuccessful.

Progressive Cenk Uygur smashed by the left and right for admitting Dem-controlled LA is 'close to anarchy,' gets labeled a 'grifter'

Progressive commentator Cenk Uygur bellyached about the deteriorating conditions of Los Angeles. However, many reactions from Twitter curiously asked the founder of the Young Turks if he actually considered how his own politics may have contributed to the ruination of living conditions in California.

"LA is a mess. There's trash all over the roads. Cops don't respond to calls. It's close to anarchy here," said Uygur – who is a co-founder of the Justice Democrats political action committee that is behind the campaigns of the members of "the Squad" in Congress. Members of the Squad have been some of the most fervent supporters of the "defund the police" movement.

Uygur lashed out at current Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti – who was nominated as the U.S. ambassador to India by President Joe Biden in July 2021, but did not have enough votes to get passed by the Senate. Cenk also bashed Karen Bass – a Democratic mayoral candidate in Los Angeles.

"Is Garcetti already in Mumbai? Is anyone running this city? Karen Bass seems to be saying she's going to maintain the status quo. She knows how to work the system," Uygur ranted. "No thanks!"

Cenk announced that he is voting for and supporting Rick Caruso – a "billionaire businessman and longtime former Republican who sits on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation board to be their next mayor."

"Karen Bass’ main message seems to be that she is an establishment Democrat (no interest) who thinks things in LA are generally fine (they’re not) and will work the system better," he declared on Twitter. "The problem is the system. There is nothing but incompetence & corruption here. We need change."

When asked about cleaning the city up himself, Cenk shot back, "No, that's not my job. Real people don't have time to also be municipal workers. Why doesn't Garcetti get out of his f***ing car or leave his mansion and pick up the trash?"

“LA is a mess. There's trash all over the roads. Cops don't respond to calls. It's close to anarchy here. Is Garcetti already in Mumbai? Is anyone running this city? Karen Bass seems to be saying she's going to maintain the status quo. She knows how to work the system. No thanks!”
— Cenk Uygur (@Cenk Uygur) 1666803053

Uygur was ripped by members of the left and the right for his awakening about the degrading living conditions in Los Angeles.

Leftists attacked Uygur and belittled him as a "grifter."

Screenwriter Josh Olson: "Lest there was ever any doubt that this guy was an absolute fraud, here ya go. Grotesque."

Science blogger Yvette d’Entremont:Yvette d’Entremont: "Cenk Uygur always has been and always will be a grifter who lacks conviction. A progressive voting for Rick Caruso over Karen Bass screams 'pay attention to me' much louder than 'I give a f***.'"

Progressive strategist Dante Atkins: "So, you, who supposedly are a progressive and believe that every billionaire is a policy failure, are going to vote for a literal Republican billionaire developer to run the second-largest city in the country?"

Comedian Martha Kelly: "Man f*** you and your billionaire buddy."

Reactions on Twitter from conservatives slammed Cenk for not realizing that the progressive politics that he preaches might not work in real life.

Digital strategist Greg Price: "Cenk, my brother in Christ, this is the type of world you've literally been advocating for your entire career."

Columnist John Nolte: "But-but-but Democrats run everything, checked off every wish on their list... Shouldn't it be a utopia?"

Media critic Stephen L. Miller: "Well well well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions."

The Hodgetwins: "You’re almost there Cenk."

Commentator Kurt Schlichter: "I think it’s important that we are reelect Democrats. Since Democrats are in total control of California, it’s the Republicans fault that this is happening. How dare Trump do this to us?"

Evolutionary behavioral scientist Gad Saad: "I wonder if the LA dystopia is related to leftist 'progressive' policies. Any thoughts @cenkuygur?"

Columnist Karol Markowicz: "I just love this whole exchange. How bad must LA be for Cenk to say that? And then the follow-up tweet where a socialist doesn’t see municipal workers as 'real people.'"

“I just love this whole exchange. How bad must LA be for Cenk to say that? And then the follow-up tweet where a socialist doesn’t see municipal workers as “real people,” just 🤌”

This isn't the first time that the progressive pundit railed against Democrat policies.

In September, Cenk wrote on Twitter, "Will people who came up with 'Defund the Police' slogan admit they were wrong? It was wildly counterproductive framing. You don't speak for the left. And neither do people pushing the counterproductive 'Abolish Prisons' Polls show that almost no one on the left agrees with you."

However, Uygur proclaimed that he was "supporting #DefundThePolice 100%" in a tweet posted in June 2020.

"I already largely agreed with the substance of the argument & now I'm down for the framing, too," he explained. "There is no reform or transformation that can fix this. We have to start over and completely rebuild policing in this country."

In August, Uygur's fellow Young Turks commentator Ana Kasparian attacked soft-on-crime policies in a YouTube segment titled: "Why Are Violent Criminals Not Serving Jail Time in California?"

Furious progressive has meltdown on camera over possible SCOTUS abortion overturn, says she's 'done' with 'losers' in Democratic Party — even 'The Squad'

Progressive pundit Ana Kasparian of "The Young Turks" melted down on camera Tuesday in a furious freakout over the Supreme Court's potential overturn of its 1973 ruling that made abortion federally legal.

Kasparian also said she's "done" with Democratic Party "losers" — even the leftist darlings in "The Squad," which has included U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

What did she say?

“If we’re gonna sit around and wait for our elected lawmakers to protect us from these religious zealots and these right-wing authoritarians, man, we have another thing coming,” Kasparian said. “How many times do we need to be disappointed by them? I’m done with them.”

The commentator noted that while she doesn't speak for all those at "The Young Turks," she is giving up on Democrats coming through.

“I’m done with them. Completely. The Democratic Party, every single one of them. That includes the Squad. I don’t care any more,” Kasparian continued. “They have not delivered! They have not delivered. I’m done! It’s time to organize, create organizations that get women and get people in this country what they need — people who are willing to pick up the slack for these disgusting, feckless, corrupt politicians!”

Ana Kasparian is finally done with the Democratic Party, incl. the Squad.pic.twitter.com/5t4K7h7V5L
— sameera khan (@sameera khan) 1651702511

Kasparian at another point repeatedly screamed at the camera and at co-host Cenk Uygur, barely keeping it together as she railed against the lack of progressive policies such as paid family leave and affordable child care — and again pointing the finger at Democrats.

"What do you want them to do with their kids when they have to go to work? What do you want them to do? What do you want them to do? I want them to answer that freakin' question! Answer the question! Journalists, ask them the question! Ask them! Ask them! Ask them the goddamned question!"

Keeping cool, Uygur posed, “Isn't it amazing that not one Democrat has shown 1% of the passion that Ana has today?”

Kasparian's reply? The Democrats "don’t care! They’re fine! They're fine! They’re all so old, they don’t have to worry about it affecting them, and if they’re young enough where it would affect them, they’ll get their abortion, okay? They’re trading individual stocks, enriching themselves, they’re good! They’re good! They don’t care about you. Make sure you understand, that you feel it in your bones. They don’t care about you — at all!”

She also ripped Democrats “losers” for their failure to pass voting rights legislation.

Ana Kasparian really likes killing kids alot youtu.be

Anything else?

According to the New York Post, Kasparian also ripped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.): “Nancy Pelosi, on the record, said we need ‘strong Republicans.’ I bet you do. Nancy, I bet you do. Without the strong Republicans, how would you fundraise, you pathetic, pathetic corporate goon?"

The TYT pundit also quipped to Pelosi: "How’s your refrigerator doing? How’s your luxury ice cream doing, okay? How’s all that going for you?” the paper said.

The Post added that Kasparian also took aim at "bootlickers for the Democratic Party" who "get so upset at me for telling you the truth about how ineffective and pathetic Democratic lawmakers are. Go ahead and cry about it. ‘Oh, but the real enemies are the Republicans.’ At least Republicans tell us exactly who they are. They don’t even hide their cards. They tell us exactly who they are and what they’re planning on doing.”

Oh, and lest we forget, the paper added that she also called Democratic President Joe Biden a “freaking liar” for not taking action to cancel student loan debt.

“You don’t know what your job title entitles you to? You don’t know? Why are you president?” she asked, according to the Post. “Why did you nominate an education secretary? What’s the whole point?”

Far-left pundit admits she was 'wrong' for assuming Kyle Rittenhouse chased Joseph Rosenbaum before fatally shooting him: 'I want to correct the record'

Ana Kasparian, far-left co-host of progressive news program "The Young Turks," admitted she was "wrong" for assuming Kyle Rittenhouse chased Joseph Rosenbaum before fatally shooting him last year amid rioting and protesting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the police-involved shooting of Jacob Blake.

In reality — and according to videos TheBlaze examined just two days after the incident — it was quite clear that Rosenbaum was the aggressor and was, in fact, chasing Rittenhouse that night.

It isn't so clear why Kasparian assumed the opposite all this time — though even the prosecuting attorney in Rittenhouse's murder trial last week falsely implied the Rittenhouse-chased-Rosenbaum narrative. But hats off to Kasparian for admitting she was wrong.

What are the details?

"Initially I was under the assumption that Rittenhouse was the person who was chasing after Joseph Rosenbaum — that's how it had started," Kasparian said on camera. "But I was wrong about that."

She also said she wanted "to correct the record: I was, in fact. wrong about that. Look, these details matter, because if you're gonna make an argument that you acted in self-defense, there needs to be some proof that there was an imminent threat."

Kasparian added: "Now, what really mattered to me was how all of this unfolded. What was the thing that sparked it? What started all of it? And to show you the evidence to reinforce that I was wrong about that, I wanna go to this video that shows how everything really started."

She interrupted her commentary with the video report breaking down the timeline that night, first showing a very angry Rosenbaum hollering "Shoot me!" at rifle-toting folks in Kenosha there to protect businesses from looting and arson.

Rosenbaum also repeatedly used the N-word in his exclamations, which the video muted.

The clip also shows Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse down a street and throwing a bag at Rittenhouse — which the video said contained belongings from his hospital stay for mental health treatment.

The clip also notes that a third party fired a shot into the air before Rosenbaum catches up to Rittenhouse and lunges at him — which is when Rittenhouse fired at Rosenbaum.

'Those details matter'

"So, those details matter, right?" Kasparian continued after showing the timeline clip. "Who was chasing who matters, the gunshots by some other unidentified person, that matters — especially if you're Rittenhouse, and you're running away, and then you hear shots, and then Rosenbaum lunges toward him."

Ana Kasparian ADMITS SHE DID NOT KNOW Kyle Rittenhouse Was The Person Fleeing In The Kenosha Videoyoutu.be

Anything else?

Rittenhouse was charged with homicide and attempted homicide for fatally shooting Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz and is now on trial. Rittenhouse pleaded not guilty and claimed self-defense.

As for Grosskreutz, he testified Monday that he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse before Rittenhouse fired at him and "vaporized" his bicep. Grosskreutz was carrying a concealed Glock that night but also said his concealed carry permit was expired at the time, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Grosskreutz also told prosecutors earlier Monday he attended the Kenosha protests as a medic and wasn't trying to be an active participant, but the paper said Grosskreutz admitted upon further questioning that he spoke at a rally hosted by the Peoples Revolution — a Milwaukee-based group that has protested against police violence — and made statements such as, "Long live the revolution."

However, Grosskreutz also testified he put his hands in the air after Rittenhouse shot Huber and then saw Rittenhouse "re-rack" his rifle, the paper said, after which he figured Rittenhouse wouldn't "accept [his] surrender" and then moved toward Rittenhouse.

He also testified that he wasn't "intentionally" pointing his gun at Rittenhouse, the Journal Sentinel said.
