If Elected, Kamala Harris Would Be The Most Anti-Gun President In U.S. History
Whether it's a national gun registry or regulations that will put gunmakers out of business, Harris is working to end legal gun ownership.
Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated that she supports the Second Amendment and gun control.
"I am in favor of the Second Amendment—and I'm also in favor of an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, and red flag laws. We can do both," a tweet on the @KamalaHarris X account reads.
Florida state Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R) was one of the many people who pushed back against Harris' comments. "A venn diagram would say you're contradicting yourself," he tweeted. Harris has said that she loves Venn diagrams.

Someone else who replied to Harris' post asserted, "Those are mutually exclusive position statements. Do better."
"Oxymoron from a total moron," another person wrote.
The Second Amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
While delivering remarks last week, Harris had said that some individuals present a "false choice" by suggesting that people either support the Second Amendment or want to confiscate guns. She then went on to say that she supports the Second Amendment and is also is in favor of policies that include red flag laws, universal background checks, and an assault weapons ban.
Harris is slated to go on a tour next year to promote pro-choice ideology.
"During the Vice President's reproductive freedoms tour, she will host events that highlight the harm caused by these abortion bans while sharing stories of those who have been impacted," a press release states. "Vice President Harris will also hold extremists accountable for proposing a national abortion ban, call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe, and outline steps the Administration is taking to protect access to health care. Additionally, she will urge attendees to use their voices and stay engaged in the fight for fundamental freedoms."

“One time, on this program, I gave the women of ‘The View’ credit,” says Dave Rubin, but “today is not that day.”
And it’s no wonder when you hear the utterly preposterous conversation that transpired between Joy Behar and Sara Haines.
“I would love to see an assault weapons ban,” said Sara, adding, “I don’t believe they’re a sport or hunting instrument. It’s like shooting fish in a bucket.”
“But also, if you shoot with an AR-15 — let’s say you shoot a deer — you can’t eat it because you’ve basically demolished the animal,” added Behar, throwing up her hands.
Tell us you know nothing about guns, hunting, or the Second Amendment without telling us you know nothing about guns, hunting, or the Second Amendment ...

Democratic Rep. Jared Golden apologized to his Maine constituents on Thursday for previously not supporting gun control initiatives.
At a press conference, Golden called on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban and, citing his previous opposition to gun control, asked his neighbors for forgiveness.
"I have opposed efforts to ban deadly weapons of war, like the assault rifle used to carry out this crime," Golden said. "The time has now come for me to take responsibility for this failure, which is why I now call on the United States Congress to ban assault rifles like the one used by the sick perpetrator of this mass killing in my hometown of Lewiston."
The moderate Democrat — who had earned an A+ rating from Second Amendment advocacy groups — cited "misjudgments" for his previous opposition to gun control, including the desire to protect his family and community.
Now, he plans to fight hard for gun control.
"For the good of my community, I will work with any colleague to get this done in the time I have left in Congress," Golden promised. "To the people of Lewiston, my constituents throughout the district, to the families who lost loved ones, and to those who have been harmed, I ask for forgiveness and support as I seek to put an end to these terrible shootings."
Nomenclature issues aside — technically, "assault rifle" refers to fully automatic rifles, which are already outlawed except under special circumstances; Golden meant to say "assault weapon," which refers to scary-looking semiautomatic rifles — it's not clear how an assault weapons ban would have prevented Wednesday's atrocity.
Golden did not say how such a ban — or any other gun control measure, for that matter — would have prevented the killer from carrying out his attack. Moreover, Golden did not say why he suddenly now believes gun control measures would work.
These are important questions because — just as Golden pointed out last year — words mean little, while substantive action makes the real difference. And considering every American would like to see mass shootings end, it's even more important to ensure the government works on the correct solutions and does not just take action to say it acted.
Blaze Media reached out to Golden's office for an answer to these questions. A representative, however, did not return a response.

A federal judge ruled Thursday against California's so-called "assault weapons" ban, reaffirming law-abiding citizens' right to defend themselves in the crime-ridden Democrat-run state.
U.S. District Court Judge Roger Benitez stressed once again that the ban and related statutes were unconstitutional, serving not only to trample Americans' Second Amendment rights but also to leave them outgunned by criminals to whom such laws mean nothing.
The Roberti-Roos Assault Weapons Control Act of 1989 made it such than any firearm on a list specified in the state's penal code was considered an "assault weapon." Such firearms became illegal to purchase, keep for sale, offer for sale, expose for sale, give, lend, manufacture, distribute, or import. Additional prohibitions were built atop this act over time.
Benitez previously struck down the ban in 2021, noting, "Like the Swiss Army Knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment. ... Yet, the State of California makes it a crime to have an AR-15 type rifle. Therefore, this Court declares the California statutes to be unconstitutional."
State Attorney General Rob Bonta appealed the ruling and petitioned for a stay. The Ninth Circuit subsequently put a hold on Benitez's ruling. Following the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 reaffirmation of Americans' Second Amendment Rights in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, the Ninth Circuit remanded the case back to the federal district court on Aug. 1, 2022.
This week, Benitez ruled on the remanded case.
Judge Benitez's Thursday decision greatly resembled his previous ruling, although this time around he opted for a Bowie knife in his opening metaphor contra the Swiss Army knife from before.
"Like the Bowie Knife which was commonly carried by citizens and soldiers in the 1800s, 'assault weapons' are dangerous, but useful. But unlike the Bowie Knife, the United States Supreme Court has said, '[t]here is a long tradition of widespread lawful gun ownership by private individuals in this country,'" wrote Benitez.
"The American tradition is rich and deep in protecting a citizen's enduring right to keep and bear common arms like rifles, shotguns, and pistols," continued the judge. "The 'assault weapon' prohibition has no historical pedigree and it is extreme."
The judge, who just weeks ago ruled against California's high-capacity magazine ban, also noted that law-abiding Americans have an interest in not being "outgunned" by the state's many criminals, particularly when "crime happens a lot."
Benitez also noted that those seeking to trample the Second Amendment tend to focus on stories of criminal gun use, but neglect the millions of instances in which law-abiding citizens use firearms to save innocent lives and restore order.
In his conclusion, Benitez wrote, "The State's attempt to ban these popular firearms creates the extreme policy that a handful of criminals can dictate the conduct and infringe on the freedom of law-abiding citizens. ... There is only one policy enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Guns and ammunition in the hands of criminals, tyrants and terrorists are dangerous; guns in the hands of law-abiding responsible citizens are necessary."
Deeming the ban unconstitutional, he struck it down. Benitez did, however, grant the state 10 days to seek a stay from the Court of Appeals.
Gov. Newsom called the ruling "radical," suggesting that Benitez's comparison of a rifle to a Bowie knife "is a direct insult to every victim of a mass shooting and their families."
"Californians’ elected representatives decided almost 35 years ago that weapons of war have no place in our communities. Today, Judge Benitez decided that he knows better, public safety be damned," continued Newsom. "Judge Benitez is hellbent on making it more dangerous for our kids to go to school, for families to go to the mall, or to attend a place of worship. We are working with Attorney General Rob Bonta to fight this extreme and logically incoherent ruling and keep California safer, but we should not have to go get Judge Benitez overturned every time he decides to write a love letter to the gun lobby."
Bonta claimed in a statement that the decision was "dangerous and misguided," vowing to "work vigorously to reverse it on appeal."
John Dillon, an attorney for the pro-Constitution plaintiffs who sued to overturn the ban, indicated his clients were "very happy" about the decision, reported the Los Angeles Times.
"It seems like the court has applied the standards properly and correctly. There's no doubt about it," said Dillon. "We're glad that our plaintiffs' rights are going to be respected."
According to the CATO Institute's "Freedom in the 50 States" index, California is second-last in the country in terms of gun rights.

President Joe Biden is persisting in his push for an assault weapons ban.
"I AM DETERMINED TO BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS. I DID IT ONCE BEFORE, AND I'LL DO IT AGAIN," a Biden post on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, reads.
The U.S. previously had an assault weapons ban in place for a decade, but it expired in 2004. Some Americans, like the president, want to see another ban enacted. Last year the House of Representatives passed the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2022," but the measure never advanced through the Senate.
"It is within our power to once again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to require safe storage of guns, to end gun manufacturers' immunity from liability, and to enact universal background checks," the president's post also claims.
Unsurprisingly, some on social media took issue with Biden's gun-control aspirations.
"Always be wary when they push to take your guns. One of the most corrupt Presidents in history wants to disarm you. It's never gonna happen," actor Matthew Marsden wrote in response to the president's post.

"Fact check: Much of the gun control Joe Biden proposes below would be in violation of the Second and Fourteenth Amendments," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton asserted.
"This is how a dictator talks. 'Within our power'. Second Amendment says otherwise, Biden intern," Twitchy's Sam Janney tweeted.
The text of the Second Amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Vice President Kamala Harris has described an assault weapons ban as "just common sense."
