Rhode Island cuts loose an illegal alien charged with raping a mentally handicapped person
Despite the failure of Democratic lawmakers to prevent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from entering schools, hospitals, and courthouses without a judicial warrant, Rhode Island is still effectively a sanctuary state, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
At the very least, the Ocean State — whose capital is a sanctuary city — will not hold a person in custody on the basis of an ICE detainer alone, Democratic Gov. Dan McKee confirmed in a Feb. 22 statement.
On Feb. 28, the Providence Police Department arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala wanted on first-degree child molestation, rape, and domestic abuse charges. Despite ICE lodging an immigration detainer against the accused child rapist, the Sixth District Court of Rhode Island reportedly cut him loose before Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston officers could take custody.
Fortunately, ICE was able to nab him on April 10 before he could victimize more residents in the state.
"This unlawfully present individual was arrested locally on first degree child molestation charges and was released back into the community despite an immigration detainer," said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons. "We believe it is in the interest of the community that jurisdictions honor our immigration detainers so that ICE can take direct custody of individuals like this who pose a threat to residents."
Days later, it looked as though Rhode Island may have taken Lyons' suggestion to heart.
A child rapist from Guatemala, in the U.S. illegally, was arrested in 2018 then convicted of first-degree child molestation/sexual assault in 2022. Despite receiving a 25-year prison sentence, his sentence was reduced to six years. Prior to his release, the Rhode Island Department of Corrections notified ICE, enabling ERO Boston to prevent him from returning to "our Rhode Island neighborhoods to re-offend."
The days of such cooperation were evidently short-lived.
'This is not the type of individual we want walking the streets of our New England neighborhoods.'
Rigberto Hoyos-Alban, a 33-year-old Colombian national who stole across the southern border near Rio Grande Valley, Texas, in November 2023, was arrested by the Central Falls Police Department in Rhode Island on March 13 and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree rape, and one count of felony assault on a person mentally impaired, according to ICE.
Once again, deportation officers from ERO Boston's Providence field office lodged an immigration detainer — this time with the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute on March 14 — and once again the ICE detainer was not honored.
The prison cut Hoyos-Alban loose, enabling the alleged rapist to roam the land for over two months.
ICE officers finally caught up to the Colombian in Cranston on May 22.
"Rigberto Hoyos-Alban has been charged with four couts [sic] of sexual assault and one count of assault aganst [sic] a person with a severe mental handicap," Lyons said in a statement. "This is not the type of individual we want walking the streets of our New England neighborhoods."
Lyons added that ERO Boston will "continue to prioritize the safety of our public by apprehending and removing violent noncitizens from our communities."

Gov. Abbott celebrates success of Operation Lone Star, citing significant declines in illegal alien encounters
The Biden administration has worked hard to hinder the Lone Star State's efforts to fend off invading waves of foreign nationals. In recent weeks, the Democratic administration has fought in the courts to prevent Texas from enforcing Senate Bill 4, which makes illegal entry into Texas a misdemeanor offense and enables state law enforcement officials to send illegal aliens packing.
Fortunately, Texas has other arrows in its quiver — some of which appear to have been thinning the waves of migrants encountered at the border.
Early Wednesday morning, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott highlighted recent indications that "Operation Lone Star is working."
The governor cited a recent Media Research Center report indicating that the number of encounters of illegal aliens at the border dropped by 28% between October 2023 and last month — from 560,920 to 406,458.
The report was referencing U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, indicating that there were steep declines in four of the Lone Star State's five Border Patrol sectors between the last five months and the same period in fiscal year 2023. El Paso saw a 46.8% decline; Big Bend, a 65.1% decline; Laredo, a 38.1% decline; and the Rio Grande Valley, a 22.6% decline.
The Del Rio sector saw less significant year-over-year decline in encounters of 5.7%. However, that number is likely to improve since the state took control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, where the Biden administration previously failed to prevent multitudes of illegal aliens stealing into the country.
Texas has since installed razor wire, fencing, and shoreline barriers in the area, reducing the number of unlawful entries by 41.2% in January and by 38.5% as compared with the same months in the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, sectors in Democrat-run states saw massive spikes. For instance, the San Diego sector saw a 76.1% increase in encounters. Tucson, Arizona, saw a 167.2% spike in illegal alien encounters at its southern border.
Newsweek noted that Kari Lake, presently running in Arizona for the U.S. Senate, previously attributed the surge at Arizona's border to the success of Texas' border control efforts.
"Because Greg Abbott is now working to secure the border in Texas, we're seeing an influx of people pouring across our border even more so than we had in previous months," Lake said in January. "The Tucson sector is being overrun with people from 168 different countries."
Abbott is evidently pleased with this turn of events, at least as it pertains to the well-being of his state and its inhabitants.
"Illegal crossings are going down in TX while at the same time they are skyrocketing in CA & AZ," wrote Abbott. "It's b/c of the border wall, razor wire barriers, the National Guard & arrests by DPS."
Abbott and the Texas Department of Public Safety launched Operation Lone Star in March 2021. Abbott said at the time, "Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open-border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis."
The governor's office indicated on the third anniversary of Operation Lone Star earlier this month that the multi-agency effort has resulted in over 503,000 illegal alien apprehensions; 40,400 criminal arrests; 36,100 felony charges; and the seizure of 469 million lethal doses of fentanyl.
While Texas cannot presently lawfully eject illegal aliens from the U.S., under Operation Lone Star, it has sent them packing to Democrat-run sanctuary cities around the country, including over 12,500 to Washington, D.C.; 39,100 to New York City; 32,200 to Chicago; 3,400 to Philadelphia; 16,600 to Denver; and 1,500 to Los Angeles.
Several hours after celebrating the apparent success of Texas' efforts to secure the border, Abbott announced that 200 soldiers in the Texas Tactical Border Force had been deployed to El Paso to "bolster Texas' ability to hold the line."
Nearly 200 soldiers in the Texas Tactical Border Force arrived in El Paso yesterday.\n\nThese soldiers will bolster Texas\u2019 ability to hold the line.\n\nTexas will continue to utilize all available resources and personnel to secure our border.— (@)

DeSantis deploys extra soldiers after Haitians pull up in boat with guns; might send illegal aliens to Martha's Vineyard
Haiti's implosion was years in the making. The country's president was assassinated on July 7, 2021. The next month, the island was rocked by a devastating earthquake, which killed more than 2,200 people. In the years since, the island nation has been gripped by a nightmarish confluence of crime and bloodshed.
While NBC News recently reassured its audience that the cannibal gangsters of yesteryear are not presently prowling the body-strewn streets of Port-au-Prince looking for their next meal, criminals have nevertheless taken over the country's capital, freed thousands of felons from jail, engaged in systematic rape, forced the prime minister to resign, and threatened genocide.
Recent news of both a Haitian illegal alien's alleged rape of a girl in Massachusetts and the attempt by a boat containing Haitian migrants and guns to reach Florida shores appears to indicate the failed nation has begun to export its problems.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has made clear he won't tolerate this risk to his state.
DeSantis reiterated last week, "In Florida, we do not tolerate illegal immigration, let alone lawlessness committed by illegal aliens who shouldn't be here in the first place."
In addition to deploying more soldiers to protect the coastline, the Republican leader has indicated he'll bus the Haitian arrivals who managed to steal into the country over to Martha's Vineyard. After all, the elite liberal enclave is home to at least three towns that have adopted sanctuary policies in recent years.
Armed invaders
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission revealed last week that a pair of officers conducting nighttime water-based patrol near Sebastien Inlet on Feb. 29 stopped a 42-foot boat containing dozens of Haitian migrants along with weaponry.
"In their boat, in their vessel, they had firearms, they had guns, they had night vision gear and were boating very recklessly, which would potentially endanger other folks," the governor told reporters during a March 15 press conference.
Two among the 25 individuals aboard the boat were American citizens, both of whom were turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. DeSantis indicated the the Haitian migrants were turned over to the U.S. Coast Guard for deportation.
Bolstering defenses
Prior to publicly acknowledging the Feb. 29 incident, DeSantis announced that in anticipation of a flood of illegal aliens from Haiti, he had ordered additional state assets to the Florida Keys and the Sunshine State's southern waters.
"For quite some time, the State of Florida has been dedicating significant resources to combat illegal vessels coming to Florida from countries such as Haiti," said the governor. "Given the circumstances in Haiti, I have directed the Division of Emergency Management, the Florida State Guard, and state law enforcement agencies to deploy over 250 additional officers and soldiers and over a dozen air and sea craft to the southern coast of Florida to protect our state."
While the state already has a security presence in the area as part of Operation Vigilant Sentry, DeSantis' March 13 directive is sending additional personnel and assets to the area, including 39 additional officers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement; 23 additional officers and eight seacraft from the FFWC; 48 additional soldiers and four more helicopters from the Florida National Guard; and 30 additional officers from the Florida Highway Patrol along with more drones and aircraft.
In addition to these reinforcements, the state will send up to 133 soldiers from the Florida State Guard to protect the Keys.
Days after issuing his directive, DeSantis ratified a triad of bills to make it more difficult for illegal aliens to get around the state: House Bill 1589, which increases penalties on individuals who operate a vehicle without a license; House Bill 1451, which prevents counties and cities from accepting identification cards issued to illegal aliens by other jurisdictions; and SB 1036, which enhances penalties for a crime committed by an illegal alien who was previously deported.
Giving sanctuaries what they asked for
In recent years, Texas, Florida, and other border states have sent illegal aliens packing to those Democrat-run municipalities that have branded themselves sanctuaries for those who would flout the laws of the land.
This campaign has been greatly successful, not only in giving northern cities a taste of what border states have long had to deal with, but in proving leftists' sanctuary rhetoric hollow. New York City Mayor Eric Adams, for instance, called last month for changes to the city's "sanctuary" policy. Chicago recently began evicting illegal aliens from its overwhelmed shelters.
DeSantis told conservative radio host Dana Loesch this week that the Sunshine State may begin busing illegal aliens from Haiti to Martha's Vineyard.
The Republican governor bused around 50 illegal aliens to Martha's Vineyard in 2022. The liberal enclave was quick to get rid of the migrants, who were whisked to a military base shortly after their arrival.
The governor told Loesch that if Haitians manage to get into Florida, the Sunshine State can't simply fly them back to Haiti "because the federal government is going to tell the host countries not to accept our planes."
"We really have to get them before they reach the shores, which is why we're working so hard to do that," said DeSantis. "Although I will say this, we do have our transport program, also, that's going to be operational. So, Haitians land in the Florida Keys, their next stop very well might be Martha's Vineyard."

Massachusetts — which has effectively been a sanctuary state since 2017 — is already overwhelmed by illegal aliens, and it's proving to be exceptionally costly.
Democratic Gov. Maura Healey's finance and housing secretaries indicated in December that the projected cost of sheltering migrants in fiscal year 2025 will be an estimated $915 million.
DeSantis also told Loesch that Florida will not be welcoming prospective waves of migrants from Haiti.
"I've got to defend my state," said the governor. "I've got enough issues just dealing with people fleeing from blue states moving into Florida."

Veteran Border Patrol agent says he's never seen illegal immigration this bad
As a Border Patrol agent for more than 32 years, starting under Reagan and ending under Trump, Randy Clark thought he had seen it all.
But he has never seen anything like the border crisis under the current administration.
“If we do not change in our election, and we stay the course we’re at right now, we will see an open border for years, and those nearly 80,000 fentanyl deaths are going to continue or rise,” Clark tells Glenn Beck.
Glenn is well aware of what the current administration is doing to the country via the open border.
“They’re bending over backwards to dismiss any crime coming from illegals that are crossing over,” Glenn says, before asking Clark if he’s seen any correlation between those illegal aliens and rising crime.
“There sure are and not to paint migrants with a broad brush,” Clark says, noting that the only person responsible for the crime is not the only one to blame.
“What we see on the official side is, ‘Well, the only person responsible for that crime is the murderer.’ Well, you hear that because there was no gun. If there was a gun, well, then it would have been the gun, but it wouldn’t have been this administration,” he adds.
Clark doesn’t believe the Biden administration is going to take any responsibility for what they have “unleashed on America.”
“And I say unleashed because I was in the Border Patrol when Ronald Reagan was president, and I left at the end of the Trump administration in August of 2020, right at September. This never existed. What I have seen in the last three years, I have no advice to give border control agents,” Clark continues.
“I cannot tell them how to cope with this, because we never saw it before,” he adds.

Biden continues his ridiculous LYING SPREE as America cringes
Joe Biden is an expert at enacting horrible policies and then dodging the blame once they inevitably fail.
Inflation, especially when it comes to astronomical grocery prices, is one such example.
Recently, in South Carolina, he claimed that “supermarkets should lower prices” and that “big grocery CEOs” are to blame for the rising number of Americans who “are not able to afford their groceries,” reports Sara Gonzales.
“They've been trying this forever. They always blame the companies and act as if they are the ones doing this, but it's such a fundamental misunderstanding of the free market,” sigh Stu Burguiere, adding that America’s inflation problem is a direct result of “government spending mostly juiced by Joe Biden.”
But grocery prices aren’t the only issue Democrats have refused to take the blame for.
There’s also the hugely problematic matter of rising crime.
“Every Walgreens in America in a major city is closed basically at this point,” says Stu, but instead of acknowledging that local governments “don't punish the people who are committing [crimes],” Democrats just claim that “the stores are racist.”
“The border is another example of this,” he continues. “They don’t control the border and then [Biden] has to come out and be like, ‘I’m actually super tough on the border; the Republicans won’t let me be tough on the border,”’ which any sane person knows is utter nonsense.
But perhaps the worst of Biden’s lies is the made-up a story about losing a son in Iraq in order to empathize with the families of the men who were actually killed in the Jordan drone attack.
“He was talking to this mom, and he again said that he understood what she was going through because his son Beau died during his service,” says Sara.
“My son spent a year in Iraq. That’s how I lost him,” Biden told the sobbing mother of Sergeant Kennedy Sanders, one of the victims who died in the tragedy.
“Beau died from cancer. He did not die while he was serving in Iraq,” sighs Sara, adding that Biden has told this false story “over and over and over again.”
“I literally don't know if this is an intentional lie or if he is just so far gone that that's how he remembers it in his dementia-riddled brain.”

'A disqualifying betrayal': House Republicans vow to kill the Senate's so-called border bill
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) plans to hold the first vote on his $118 billion "Emergency National Security" bill Wednesday. However, following the bill's long-awaited reveal Sunday, House Republicans made clear that Schumer's efforts will be in vain.
According to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), the bill will be "dead on arrival."
What's the background?
Blaze News previously detailed how the 370-page bill, which has the blessing of Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), would provide $60.06 billion in support for Ukraine in its war with Russia; $14.1 billion in security assistance to Israel; $10 billion in humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Ukraine; and $20.23 billion for American border security.
McConnell claimed in a statement Sunday that the bill "begins with direct and immediate solutions to the crisis at our southern border."
A closed border is evidently not among the solutions. Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) admitted the "border never closes" under the proposed scheme.
Coons suggested that rather than preventing thousands of illegal aliens from entering the U.S. daily, the bill would ensure that those unaccompanied minors who have jumped the border get free immigration lawyers; that all illegal aliens are afforded the right to legal representation; and that asylum-seekers will not be detained while their claims are processed.
The bill would also fund an increase in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention capacity from 34,000 to 50,00; fast-track asylum cases; raise the standard for illegal aliens to qualify to apply to asylum; and grant the government the power it already has to secure the border if there is a one-week daily average of 5,000 illegal entries or 8,500 illegal entries in a single day. reported Newsweek.
Dead on arrival
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in an X post Sunday evening, "I've seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won't come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created."
"As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, 'the border never closes,'" continued Johnson. "If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival."
— (@)
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) vowed that the bill would not get a vote in the House, underscoring the legislation would serve only to exacerbate the crisis at the border.
"Here's what the people pushing this 'deal' aren't telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients — a magnet for more illegal immigration," said Scalise.
According to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the bill would indeed "expedite protection and work authorization" for illegal aliens "with legitimate claims."
Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs (R) piled on hours later, writing, "The Senate border bill is the worst idea on border 'security' — EVER.' Frankly, it makes matters worse than they already are. It is a disaster. Hard to believe, but this is even more terrible than the old Gang of Eight legislation."
Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.) wrote, "The Senate AMNESTY bill erases our borders. Every Senator took an oath to uphold our laws, including our border security & immigration laws, inluding our border security & immigration laws. ... This is AMERICA LAST!"
According to House GOP conference chair Elise Stefanik (N.Y.), the bill is an "absolute non-starter."
"This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer Open Border Bill is an absolute non-starter and will further incentivize thousands of illegals to pour in across our borders daily," said Stefanik. "House Republicans have already passed HR2 - the Secure Our Border Act, which would actually secure the border and return to the effective Trump policies with the most secure border in our nation’s history."
Senate opposition
Senate Republicans already critical of the bill reiterated their opposition after the text of the bill was revealed to the public.
"I can understand why Chris Murphy supports it," wrote Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio). "I cannot imagine why any Republican supports this atrocious proposal."
— (@)
"Now that the text of the bill has been released, it appears even worse than we feared," said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.).
Johnson suggested Sunday that the bill serves to give Democratic lawmakers in Washington, D.C., "cover" now that the border crisis has become an issue for blue cities such as Chicago and New York City. Johnson noted further that President Joe Biden already has the authority and ability to stem the flood of illegal aliens into the country, making this legislation largely unnecessary.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) dismissed the legislation, calling it the "Border Capitulation Bill."
Lee suggested that the bill had much to offer in the way of "protecting aliens and their personal information [but] nothing protecting Americans."
"Senate GOP leadership screwed this up — and screwed us. Even while refusing to let us see the bill they claimed to be negotiating on our behalf — for MONTHS — they were never in doubt, insisting we’d be dumb and even unpatriotic NOT to support it," wrote Lee. "This is a disqualifying betrayal."

Sen. Eric Schmitt (Mo.) said, "There you have it: Dead on arrival in the House. This bill is a disaster. Yet Schumer is trying to jam the Senate."
Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford (R), who took the lead in brokering the deal, has attempted to defend the bill, claiming parts of it have been misunderstood or misrepresented.
Lankford stressed in a statement that "this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border and give future administrations the effective tools they need to stop the border chaos and protect our nation."
Lankford was censured in advance for allegedly "playing fast and loose with Democrats on our border policy" and helping Democrats advance legislation that authorizes "several thousand people to invade our borders."

Biden bans liquid natural gas exports for 'climate-related' reasons, but Ken Paxton says it's retaliation for border battle
Texas is refusing to back down and hand over control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, to federal authorities.
President Biden then banned all new liquid natural gas export approvals, claiming this was a climate-related decision — not a way to retaliate and hurt Texas’ economy.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton tells Glenn Beck that he has “no doubt” that this was meant to hurt Texas, not help the climate.
“There’s no doubt in my mind they were probably enjoying the fact that it would hurt the Texas economy, but I also think that’s what the border is about,” Paxton says.
While Paxton believes the long-term goal is to allow immigrants into Texas in order to change the way the red state votes, the rest of what the administration is doing is hurting the Texas economy anyway.
“What they’re doing is bringing people into our state so that we have higher costs. We have law enforcement costs, health care costs, we have education costs, and they know that,” he explains.
“I think they’re doing their best to damage and harm in any way possible, even if it means high crime in the Republican states,” he continues, adding that while it “sounds so conspiratorial,” he can see what they’re doing.
“It’s not like a secret; it’s all out in the open,” he adds.
Glenn is in agreement with Paxton, adding, “This is what a constitutional crisis looks like.”

What everyone is missing in Biden vs. Texas border fight
Everything inside the United States is unraveling at the seams — and it starts at our border.
The situation at the southern border has become dire, and it's seriously affecting communities throughout the U.S., which has been proven by newly released footage of migrants sleeping on airport floors.
While the Biden administration has consistently denied the problem, Texas has now wisely forced it into a corner after a detrimental Supreme Court decision.
The decision sided with the Biden administration, allowing them to cut the razor wire the Texas National Guard has been using as a barrier between the Rio Grande river and Shelby Park, a 47-acre area in Eagle Pass.
Governor Greg Abbott has continued to publicly challenge the ruling and “hold the line.”
Twenty-five other states have signed on to support Texas.
While it’s an incredible show of strength against a government that is increasingly endangering its people, according to Glenn Beck, “most people don’t know what they’re fighting against.”
What we’re really up against, Glenn explains, is far more insidious than just the border.
It’s everything from our intelligence agencies to new technology to the global elites.
“By 2027, just the number-crunching for AI will take 25% of our energy,” Glenn says. “I don’t know if you know this, but we’re already close to rolling blackouts.”
“God help us if we can’t turn this around in the next election, because 2025 is the year we really start to feel the impact,” he adds.
