Biden claims he's been 'delivering real results in fiscally responsible ways,' but here are the FACTS

The claims Biden made about the budget and the deficit during his disastrous State of the Union speech are bound to anger any hard-working American — and for good reason, because they’re not true.

“By the way, the first couple years we cut the deficit,” Biden told the country. “I’ve been delivering real results in fiscally responsible ways.”

“We’ve already cut the federal deficit,” he continued while slurring his words, “over a trillion dollars. I signed the bipartisan deal to cut another trillion dollars in the next decade.”

Stu Burguiere caught the lie immediately.

“Did you pick up a claim, uh, $1 trillion he claims he has cut,” Burguiere says, before going over the Congressional Budget Office Budget Outlook Headline Update to the budget from 2020 to 2030.

The CBO projected a federal budget deficit of $3.3 trillion in 2020, which is more than triple the shortfall recorded in 2019.

“We had a minor interruption, you might remember, called COVID-19,” Burguiere says, explaining that because no one could work, the government shelled out trillions of dollars to keep the economy running for what was supposed to be a short period of time.

“So the fact that he’s claiming a budget savings here is tough,” he adds.

Meanwhile, in 2018 and 2019, Donald Trump had deficits of $800 billion and $1 trillion.

In 2022 and 2023, Biden has $1.4 trillion and $1.7 trillion.

“How do you make $900 billion turning into $1.55 trillion into a good move?” Burguiere asks.

“You just measure yourself against peak COVID spending, which we all know is completely insane.”

Poll finds 71% of Americans believe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act will make things worse or not make any difference

The public relations campaign for President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act appears to be failing according to a new poll released Monday.

The NBC News poll found that a large majority of Americans, 71%, said the act would either make things worse or make no difference at all.

Only 26% of those polled said that they believed the act would make things better for them.

The results of the NBC News poll paralleled those from a Morning Consult poll that found only 24% of respondents saying the bill would make inflation better, while 34% said it would make inflation worse, and another 23% said it would make no difference.

Critics of the bill point out that the Congressional Budgeting Office found that the bill would actually reduce inflation by a negligible amount in the short term and have nearly no effect on inflation in the long term. Supporters of the bill instead have praised Biden for passing the most expensive legislation to combat climate change.

An independent assessment from the Penn Wharton Budget Model also found that the bill would have nearly zero effect on inflation.

On Tuesday, CNN's Kate Bolduan pressured White House Council of Economic Advisors chair Cecilia Rouse about the finding that the bill would not significantly reduce inflation despite its name.

"Inflation happens when we have too much demand for the supply, and we know we need to be investing in the supply supports so we are better able as a country to address issues like inflation going forward," Rouse explained. "So this will increase our economic growth, and because of how we planned to implement it and provisions in the bill, that growth will be more equably shared."

Bolduan laughed after being unable to get a straight answer out of Rouse.
