CDC reveals 'abysmal' vaccine numbers: Just 7% of adults have received latest booster

In the month following federal recommendations that Americans get updated versions of COVID-19 vaccines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that less than 10% of the country has participated in the ritual.

Statistics were presented at a meeting with the CDC and medical experts, with the numbers representing a national survey of thousands of Americans conducted just a couple weeks before.

PBS reported that just 7% of U.S. adults received the latest booster and only 2% of children. As well, nearly 40% of adults said they would either probably not or definitely not get the latest vaccine. A similar percentage of parents were reported to have no plans to vaccinate their children with the latest booster.

In September 2023, federal authorities recommended that any person over the age of just 6 months old should get the new vaccine.

"We have more tools than ever to prevent the worst outcomes from COVID-19," said the CDC's director, Dr. Mandy Cohen, according NBC News. "CDC is now recommending updated COVID-19 vaccination for everyone six months and older to better protect you and your loved ones," she added.

Dr. Camille Kotton of Harvard Medical School attended the CDC meeting and referred to the vaccination numbers as "abysmal." She cited patient confusion as a possible reason for the low numbers and suggested greater public education efforts.

Dr. David Kimberlin from the University of Alabama at Birmingham simply said that "the recommendations are not being heard."

The latest numbers are down 10 points from the previous booster shot made available in 2022. Just 17% of those eligible received that shot, according to Dr. William Schaffner, infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

CDC numbers backed up the claim, which showed that Texas had the lowest vaccination rate for the previous booster at 3.7%. Mississippi (7.2%), Alabama (8%), and Louisiana (8.1%) followed with the subsequent lowest numbers.

Vermont (35.4%) residents were the most likely to receive the previous booster, followed by Maine (32.2%) and Massachusetts (32%).

At the same time, Boston Children's Hospital vaccine program director Dr. Ofer Levy had recently called the availability of vaccines a "godsend" for vulnerable Americans. He warned the New York Times that tens of thousands die annually from the viral infections.

Pfizer and BioNTech seek FDA emergency use authorization for updated COVID-19 vaccine booster

Pfizer and BioNTech have asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to green-light emergency use authorization for an updated COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.

According to a press release, the companies are seeking an EUA for "a booster dose of an Omicron BA.4/BA.5-adapted bivalent COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12 years of age and older."

"The bivalent vaccine contains mRNA encoding the original SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which is present in the original Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, together with mRNA encoding the spike protein of the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 variant," the press release said. "Pre-clinical data showed a booster dose of Pfizer and BioNTech's Omicron BA.4/BA.5-adapted bivalent vaccine generated a strong neutralizing antibody response against Omicron BA.1, BA.2 and BA.4/BA.5 variants, as well as the original wild-type strain. A clinical study investigating the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the Omicron BA.4/BA.5-adapted bivalent vaccine in individuals 12 years of age and older is expected to start this month."

The booster is set to roll out immediately once the green light is given.

"The agility of the mRNA platform, together with extensive clinical experience with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, has allowed us to develop, test and manufacture updated, high-quality vaccines that align to circulating strains with unprecedented speed," Pfizer chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said, according to the release. "Having rapidly scaled up production, we are positioned to immediately begin distribution of the bivalent Omicron BA.4/BA.5 boosters, if authorized, to help protect individuals and families as we prepare for potential fall and winter surges."

Prominent figures, including Bourla, have tested positive for COVID-19 after having already received four vaccine shots.

"After isolating all week, I am happy to report that I have now tested negative in 2 consecutive tests. Although I was fortunate to only experience mild symptoms that resolved within a few days, I am grateful for the support and well wishes expressed by so many," Bourla tweeted on Friday.

If Paxlovid causes more COVID, why has the White House spent billions on it?

Is there some sort of unholy union between the FDA, Pfizer, and the Biden White House?

Horowitz: Why is only one state bucking the CDC?

The last time I checked, there were 28 GOP governors, 23 of whom have Republican legislatures to back them up. Two years into the corruption, lies, and unscientific incompetence of the CDC, how is it that Florida is the only state where the health department is actively bucking the CDC?

Rather than serve as a state conduit for the CDC’s relentless misinformation promoting clot shots, quarantine, and masking, the Florida Department of Health is now a positive force for science and health. Under Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Gov. DeSantis’ newly confirmed surgeon general, the health department is actively issuing guidance encouraging doctors to treat patients early with what they find to work rather than relying on the same voodoo that has failed so many people for two years.

Last Thursday, DeSantis and Ladapo posted a video announcing several new changes to their guidance. The guidance includes the following five changes:

  • Pushing Back Against Corporate Masking for Employees
  • Advising Health Care Practitioners and Facilities to Reevaluate Status Quo Protocols in Favor of Scientifically Based Treatment Options to Benefit Patients
  • Updating Daycare Guidance to Limit Child Isolation to 5 Days
  • Updating the School Rule to Limit Student Isolation to 5 Days
  • Reducing Isolation for Floridians with COVID to 5 Days

Even in other red states where the governors claim to oppose the mandates, the departments of health continue to promote masks, continue to pressure people to get boosters, and continue to support quarantine. DeSantis has already banned school mask mandates, but he noted in several speeches in recent weeks how some big businesses continue to forcibly mask their workers, creating a quasi two-tiered serfdom system. Rather than simply announcing that we no longer “need” masks, DeSantis and Ladapo went after the entire premise of masking.

“Businesses are advised to no longer require facial coverings for employees, as there is no proven significant clinical benefit for facial coverings among the general population,” states the guidance.

To this day, deep red state departments of health continue to peddle discredited misinformation from the CDC that masks work against this virus. The twitter banner of the Alabama Department of Health still has a goofy mask montage promoting them with more passion than the Biden administration.

How is it that all these GOP governors claim to oppose the Biden administration, yet their own administrations continue to promote lies months after they were discredited? Medical freedom and COVID fascism are the issues of our lifetime, and these governors have ensured that there is not one iota of difference between the parties. Any governor who claims to oppose the CDC and Fauci but has his or her department of health disseminating this dangerous misinformation about efficacy and safety of the jabs or masks is a complete fraud.

Then there is early treatment. We already know that masks do not work and the vaccines waned last year and don’t work at all for Omicron. So, what does work? “If you take a look at Fauci, what he puts out, what he says you can do, he’s been very negative on a lot of treatments that have actually shown positive results,” declared the Flroida governor in the “Buck the CDC” video. “And so what Dr. Ladapo has done is made sure that practitioners understand that they have the flexibility, and they can use their judgment, to use off-label products in order to treat Covid-19.”

To that end, the Florida Department of Health sent out a provider alert to doctors, recommending they “exercise their individual clinical judgment and expertise based on their patients’ needs and preferences.” Why it has taken this long across the board is mind-boggling, but Ladapo did this on his first day after being confirmed to his position. Where are the other governors?

The guidance added this important line in bold type:

“If you are a health care practitioner who is aware of a hospital that is preventing licensed health care providers from using evidence-based care and exercising clinical judgment in treating patients, please report those instances to the Agency for Health Care Administration.”

So rather than putting doctors on notice to lose their licenses for saving lives, this guidance actually encourages doctors to contact the department if hospitals are preventing them from using standard clinical judgement in treating patients.

Too many GOP governors straddle the fence and proclaim their opposition to Fauci’s policies, but then their departments of health continue to put out misinformation while failing to discuss actual early treatment. Even last week, after so much information came out about vaccine injury, the Tennessee Department of Health recommended shots even for children as young as five, despite the lack of efficacy for Omicron.

Georgia is still going strong promoting these dangerous and needless shots on children.

Same game in Wyoming, which looks more like California:

Its red-state neighbor to the north had the nerve to endorse the lie that somehow the shots prevent you from getting COVID and suffering potential heart problems, all the while failing to provide informed consent showing that the shots can also cause heart problems:

Just last Friday, Arizona’s Department of Health encouraged the shots even for people with prior infection and had the nerve to insinuate that it stops the spread!

Oklahoma is still touting boosters too.

Oklahomans ages 18+ are encouraged to get a booster shot if it\u2019s been 5 months since their initial Pfizer or Moderna series or 2 months since their J&J vaccine. 12-17-year-olds are eligible to receive the Pfizer booster shot. Rep. Wendi Stearman (HB 4322) has a bill to prevent the department of health from advertising the shots.

On the same day, they promoted the #MaskUp fairy tale:

On the same day, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare promoted mask-wearing, months after its efficacy has been debunked.

KN95 masks (one pack of 10 per household) are available for free at various locations around the state. As of a week ago, the Indiana health department was tweeting out messages that could have come straight from Biden and Fauci:

They even have the Spanish version to promote them on 5-year-olds:

There is now a wealth of evidence that everything the CDC has done was counterproductive and that many people need treatment help both for long COVID and for vaccine injury. Hospitals are still mistreating patients, kicking out spouses, and preventing them from giving them safe medications. Yet all these same governors who remain silent in the face of this humanitarian crisis are raucously shouting about Ukraine, and issue in which, as governors, they have zero impact.

With red states like these, who needs blue states?

Fauci says that 'the potential future requirement for an additional boost ... is being very carefully monitored in real time'

During a press briefing on Wednesday Dr. Anthony Fauci said that the possibility of a second COVID-19 booster shot "is being very carefully monitored in real time."

The prominent public health figure said that "the potential future requirement for an additional boost ... is being very carefully monitored in real time," referring to the possibility of a fourth mRNA COVID-19 vaccine shot or a third J&J vaccine shot. He added that, "recommendations, if needed, will be updated according to the data as it evolves."

Fauci, who has served as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for more than three decades, is also the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden.

Fauci has previously told the Financial Times that the need for vaccine booster shots will vary from person to person, suggesting that a 30-year-old individual in good health may only require a shot each four or five years.

"It will depend on who you are," he said, according to the outlet. "But if you are a normal, healthy 30-year-old person with no underlying conditions, you might need a booster only every four or five years."

Some people have tested positive for COVID-19 even after getting fully vaccinated and receiving a booster shot.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention already recommends that immunocompromised individuals receive four shots of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. If an immunocompromised individual had an initial J&J shot, the CDC says they should receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine for their second shot, followed later by another mRNA shot, for a total of three shots.

Fauci warns, 'We may need to boost again.' He proclaims, 'More pain and suffering' for areas not fully vaccinated.

Dr. Anthony Fauci suggested on Sunday that Americans may need more boosters, and painted a grim forecast for areas of the country that are not fully vaccinated.

During an appearance on ABC’s "This Week," host Martha Raddatz expressed optimism regarding the COVID-19 pandemic – citing cases beginning to fall nationally and that certain areas had reached their peak. However, Fauci poured cold water on any enthusiasm regarding the pandemic.

"You know, I think as confident as you can be," Fauci cautioned. "You never want to be overconfident when you're dealing with this virus, Martha, because it has certainly surprised us in the past."

Fauci said he believes that most states will peak by mid-February. He did concede that cases are dropping "rather sharply," and you will "start to see a turnaround throughout the entire country."

However, Fauci followed up with a gloomy forecast for parts of the country.

"There may be a bit more pain and suffering with hospitalizations in those areas of the country that have not been fully vaccinated or have not gotten boosters," warned the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

When asked about the need for a fourth booster shot, Fauci responded, "Well, the answer, Martha, honestly, is we don't know because we don't know the durability of protection from the third shot boost of an mRNA and the second shot boost of a J&J. Certainly, you are going to see the antibody levels go down."

Fauci said he had "hope" that the "third shot boost will give a much greater durability of protection."

"We may need to boost again," Dr. Fauci stated. "That's entirely conceivable, but before we make that decision about yet again another boost, we want to determine clearly what the durability of protection is of that regular boost, that third shot that we're talking about."

On Saturday, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said that he hoped COVID-19 booster shots could be taken annually instead of every four or five months.

Bourla's admitted that an annual booster is easier to convince people to get than bi-annual shots.

"Once a year — it is easier to convince people to do it. It is easier for people to remember," Bourla told Israel's N12 News. "So from a public health perspective, it is an ideal situation. We are looking to see if we can create a vaccine that covers Omicron and doesn't forget the other variants and that could be a solution."

New York to mandate COVID-19 vaccine boosters for health care workers

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced that health care workers will be required to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.

The mandate, which does not include a test-out option, will require health care workers to get their booster dose within two weeks of them becoming eligible, unless they have a medical exemption.

Hochul said that New York State Department of Health Acting Commissioner Dr. Mary Basset will recommend the move to the Public Health and Health Planning Council.

A news release explains that, "Following review and approval by the Public Health and Health Planning Council at their emergency meeting on Tuesday, the emergency regulation will be filed with the Department of State (DOS). Regulations are effective upon the filing with DOS."

Hochul, a Democratpolitician who previously served as lieutenant governor, became the governor last year after Andrew Cuomo stepped down. Hochul made history as the Empire State's first female governor and is now running in the 2022 Democratic gubernatorial primary with her sights set on eventually winning a full term in office during the state's general election.

The governor said that "we've seen hospitals and healthcare facilities stressed because people who maybe only have the vaccination, not boosted, are having breakthroughs."

Some people who have been fully vaccinated and boosted have still tested positive for COVID-19.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, who also serves as chief medical advisor to President Biden, has said that "optimal protection" is achieved with a vaccine booster.

"Right now, optimal protection is with a third shot of an mRNA or a second shot of a J&J," Fauci said earlier this week, according to Bloomberg Law.
