Marjorie Taylor Greene single-handedly dismantles Rep. Jamaal Bowman's excuse for pulling fire alarm: 'Every member of Congress knows that'

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) demonstrated on Monday why she doesn't believe Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) accidentally pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building.

Greene is well acquainted with the ins and outs of the Cannon Building because, like Bowman, her Capitol Hill office is located there. On Monday, Greene uploaded a video from the spot where Bowman pulled the fire alarm and disputed his claims that it was an accident.

"We are at the infamous door where Jamaal Bowman claims he had to pull a fire alarm to get out. Now, these doors are open on weekdays, every member of Congress knows that, everybody that works here knows that. But on Saturdays and Sundays, they are locked, and only certain doors are open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Then, directing attention to the same fire alarm that Bowman activated, Green explained, "Nowhere does it say, 'Pull the fire alarm to open the exit door.'"

Next, Greene walked downstairs and showed viewers the stairs that members of Congress use to access underground tunnels that run from the office building straight to the Capitol. Finally, she showed a nearby door, which exits onto New Jersey Avenue, that is accessible during the week and on weekends.

Greene's point is that Bowman had several exit options available to him — exits he knows exist because he works in the building — and yet he claims he was trying to exit a door that he likely knew was locked.

"Let's explain very clearly again: Jamaal Bowman didn't pull the fire alarm to try to get out of the building because he had to rush to go vote. I know that for a fact because I also work in the Cannon office building," Greene explained at the end of the video.

"He knew he was pulling a fire alarm, because he's a former middle school principal, and then ran out of the building and didn't tell anybody he did that."

On Monday, talking points that Bowman's office circulated to House Democrats were made public. Those talking points essentially blamed Republicans and confusing signs for the fire-alarm incident.

But as Greene demonstrated, it's implausible to believe Bowman when he claims he was trying to open the door by pulling what is clearly marked as a fire alarm.

Meanwhile, Bowman threw his staff under the bus on Monday because those talking points said the GOP is harboring "Nazi members." Bowman claimed his staff released those talking points without his knowledge of the "Nazi" reference.
