Rap artist Cardi B posted an expletive-filled rant about high inflation that went viral and garnered millions of views.

She posted the rant on her Twitter account, which has more than 27.5 million followers, in response to critics who mocked her for tweeting about grocery prices increasing.

"Naaaaaa grocery shopping prices are ridiculous right now," the rapper tweeted on Tuesday. "You might as well eat outside!"

On Thursday, she posted the follow-up video.

"Let me tell you something when I be complaining about food prices and y'all motherf***ers be like, 'ain't you rich, why you complaining about lettuce, why you complaining about this,' that just goes to show me when you become successful, when you have money, you gonna f***ing, you gonna go broke soon cuz you're not budgeting," she said on the video.

"I get a summary of the money that's being spent at my home every week," she added. "So that when I'm starting to see that groceries is like tripling up, it's like ay yo, what the f*** is going on?"

She went on to say that she went to the grocery story and saw how prices were skyrocketing.

"Lettuce was like $2 a couple months ago and now it’s like f***ing $7, of course I’mma say something. The f***?" she asked.

"Cause if I think that s*** is crazy, I could only imagine what middle class people or people in the hood is motherf***ing thinking. So yes I'm going to say something, the f***?" she declared a second time.

"And I have a big platform, so I do want anybody that’s responsible of these f***ing prices to put that s*** the f*** down," she argued. "They gonna see my s*** they might put that s*** down!"

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, is estimated to be worth more than $80 million.

It's not the first time she has weighed in on the country's economics. In December, she tweeted that the country was in a recession, and she decried high inflation in February 2022.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen responds to Cardi B's recession tweet, noting that she does not believe there will be a recession

Music superstar Cardi B issued a tweet Sunday on the topic of a recession, but Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen responded on Thursday by noting that she does not expect there to be a recession.

"When y’all think they going to announce that we going into a recession?" Cardi B tweeted on Sunday.

While interviewing Yellen, Andrew Ross Sorkin asked the Treasury secretary to respond to Cardi B's tweet, and Yellen said that she does not believe there will be a recession.

"Consumer spending is very strong. Investment spending is, um, solid," Yellen said, noting that she does think that "growth" will "slow down."

"We have a very strong economy," she said. She acknowledged that people are correctly distraught about inflation, but that that there is no indication that a recession is looming.

On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released consumer price index data that showed inflation continuing to soar.

"The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 1.0 percent in May on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.3 percent in April," according to the BLS. "Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 8.6 percent before seasonal adjustment."

"The all items index increased 8.6 percent for the 12 months ending May, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981," the report said.

The data is bad news for Americans who will continue to see the purchasing power of their hard-earned dollars decline.

Gas prices have been on the rise, and as of Friday, the AAA national average price for a gallon of regular gas hit $4.986.

President Biden has continued to say that combatting inflation is his "top economic priority."

The stock market took a hit on Friday, with the S&P 500 falling 2.9%, the Dow declining 2.7%, and the Nasdaq losing 3.5%.

Cardi B weighs in on inflation, says 'everything is high'

In a recent interview, rapper and provocateur Cardi B flexed her political bona fides while discussing inflation and Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign with celebrity journalist Billy Bush.

Largely, the interview provided the "WAP" rapper an opportunity to plug her new vodka-infused whipped cream called “Whipshots,” but towards the end, Bush suggested she send a bottle to her “old friend Bernie Sanders for Valentine’s Day.”

When asked whether or not she keeps up with politics, nowadays, Cardi B said, “I haven’t really been keeping up with a lot of political stuff because it’s just getting very overwhelming. There's certain things that, like, I was looking last year or, like, two years ago, and the market is extremely high.”

“And that’s just, let’s say, when it comes to homes, everything is high,” she continued, “the food is high, the products are high. We can’t even get products from certain countries.”

Earlier in the interview, Billy Bush remarked that Cardi B’s interactions with Bernie Sanders were his favorite moments from the 2020 election cycle.

Today @iamcardib and I finally met. We had a great conversation about the future of America.

And let me tell you: Cardi B is right.

Together, we’ll get millions of young people involved in the political process and transform this country. I been reading about Bernie Sanders and I’m really sad how we let him down in 2016 This man been fighting for equal rights,HUMAN rights for such along time.Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign.

The rapper’s comments on the economy come as the country experiences historic levels of inflation. Recent reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that the consumer price index rose to an annual rate of 7.5%. This is the highest inflation has been in 40 years.

Cardi B noted that prices are increasingly “high,” and she is correct. The price of a new vehicle is up 12%, the average monthly rent has increased 4.36%, food has risen 7%, and used vehicles have increased in price by more than 40%.

Her statements on the rising costs of living indicated that inflation is an issue that affects all Americans, albeit the wealthy — such as Cardi B — are better positioned to withstand the rising costs of essential day-to-day products.

This is not the first time Cardi B has ventured into political commentary. This recent commentary, and her various endorsements and public appearances on behalf of certain candidates, are only part of her political persona.

Cardi B’s politics are likely best identified by her very public online feuds with conservative commentator Candace Owens resulting in threats of litigation.

Yes. Just spoke with my family. I am 100% suing Cardi for that nonsense. You can’t just start throwing out wild lies against private members of my family because you’re upset someone called your out on your degenerate performance.
I‘ll keep you all posted.https://twitter.com/Lordflashh3art/status/1371959036531372033 …

She’s also given her views on tax policy, in years past.

In 2020, the rapper tweeted that she “do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress.”

She claimed that “I deadass have sooo much ideas that make sense. I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table.”

Rapper Cardi B to pay for funerals of those who perished in deadly Bronx apartment building fire

Rapper Cardi B will pay for the funerals of all those who died in the deadly Bronx apartment building fire, according to reports.

At least 17 people died as a result of the apartment building fire, which took place earlier this month.

Eight of the victims, according to reports, were children.

What are the details?

The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, is set to cover the funeral costs of all 17 people who were killed in the five-alarm fire.

Almánzar, who was born and raised in the Bronx, said that she felt compelled to stand up and do something for her community and has also pledged to cover the repatriation expenses for some victims who will be buried in their West African home of Gambia.

"I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing," she said in a statement on the disaster, "but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal."

A man who lost five of his relatives in the deadly fire said that the rapper is an "angel" for her contribution.

Sixty-one year-old Haji Dukuray, who lost his 37-year-old niece Haja Dukureh, her husband Haji Dukary, 49, and their three children — 12-year-old Mustapha Dukureh, 11-year-old Mariam Dukureh, and five-year-oldFatoumata Dukureh — told TMZ that he couldn't thank the rapper enough.

"Cardi B, you are an angel," he said. "I can't thank you enough. My family can't thank you enough for what you have done. I don't know you. I am sure you've never heard of my family. For you to step up and do what you did for us at this time, all I could do is pray to Allah for you. May Allah give you all your wishes and grant you everything in this world."

He added, "I can't even imagine. I have five family members that I am planning to bury, and the financial aspect — we all know how expensive that can be, and for me not to worry about the cost at all was just a huge, huge help and a huge relief for my family."

In a statement thanking the hip hop superstar, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said that New Yorkers "never turn their back on one another."

“The resilience of this city reflects everyday New Yorkers who never turn their back on one another,” Adams said of Almanzar's meaningful contribution. “We are grateful for Cardi B, a real superstar on and off the mic, for granting some critical financial relief to families of the victims.”
