Hollywood actress Charlize Theron threatened anyone who criticizes drag queens who put on shows for children.

The Oscar-winning actress made the jarring proclamation during the "Drag Isn't Dangerous" telethon, described as "a night of entertainment and pure queer joy to combat recent anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation across the country."

The telethon raised more than $585,000. The GoFundMe campaign said the beneficiary of the crowdfunding push was Black Queer Town Hall – a self-described "non-profit organization led by Peppermint and Bob The Drag Queen" that is "committed to celebrating black queer excellence by supporting and cultivating community, sharing knowledge, and uplifting voices."

The fundraiser featured celebrities such as Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Schumer, Leslie Jones, Margaret Cho, Marcia Gay Harden, and Sarah Silverman. Actress Marcia Gay Harden said during the telethon, "What drives me is because it’s right and what’s happening right now is wrong. What drives me is — my children are all queer. My eldest child is non-binary. My son is gay. My youngest is fluid. And you know, they are my kids and they teach me every day."

Theron declared during the telethon, "We love you queens! We’re in your corner, and we’ve got you, and I will f*** anybody up who is, like, trying to f*** with anything with you guys."

"It's really in all seriousness, there are so many things that are hurting and, really, killing our kids, and we all know what I'm talking about right now and it ain't no drag queen," Theron said. "Because if you've ever seen a drag queen lip-sync for her life, it only makes you happier, it only makes you love more, it makes you a better person."

The "Atomic Blonde" star pleaded with viewers, "I want to ask everyone out there, please, please support all the great organizations that are out there helping all of this nonsense go away like it should. All of these incredibly stupid policies. Bye! No more room for hate, only love, and love equals drag queens!"

Theron did not specifically name the "incredibly stupid policies" that she is railing against.

There is a bill in Texas that would ban minors from "sexually oriented" performances of "a male performer exhibiting as a female, or a female performer exhibiting as a male."

In February, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) signed Senate Bill 3 into law that would shield minors from "adult-oriented" performances, including drag shows. The law was temporarily blocked in April by a federal judge in Memphis because it was ruled "vague and overly broad."

Theron adopted a 3-year-old boy named "Jackson" from South Africa in 2012. However, Theron announced in 2019 that Jackson was a girl.

"Yes, I thought she was a boy, too," Theron said in 2019, according to the Daily Mail. "Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said, 'I am not a boy!' So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive."

Theron added, "They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.'"

In March, country music star Maren Morris dared the state of Tennessee to arrest her for bringing her 2-year-old son to meet a room full of drag queens.
