Rabid leftists fired from coffee shop after blocking Jewish customer from entering restroom to document anti-Semitic graffiti

A trio of rabid leftist employees have been fired from an Oakland coffee shop after they were caught on video blocking a Jewish customer from entering a restroom so she could document anti-Semitic graffiti.

What's the background?

Cellphone video shows the trio of Farley's East employees — two masked females and one unmasked male — blocking the woman from entering the restroom.

The male is heard telling the woman she already got her food and that she's "holding up s**t."

One of the females tells the customer that "this is private property" and tells her to leave the coffee shop.

"I want to go into the restroom," the woman says repeatedly.

The male employee remarks, "I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it's their own …"

A female employee accuses the customer of "misgendering" — though the context of the accusation isn't clear.

The customer says it's her right to enter the restroom, to which the male employee replies, "And we have a right to refuse service."

The employees blocking the customer also tell the determined woman she can use the coffee shop's other restroom — just not the one they're blocking.

The customer digs in her heels and refuses to leave — and then challenges the employees, saying that if they "agree" with the graffiti in the restroom, they shouldn't be afraid of her documenting it.

With that, she's allowed to enter the restroom, where she records video showing the graffiti. One message read, "Zionism = fascism":

The other graffiti read, “Your neutrality ... is enabling genocide”:

The male employee is heard telling the woman, "History didn't start in 1948, lady," while another tells her, "Free Palestine," as she departs.

Initial apology draws angry responses

Farley's East apologized on its Facebook page last week — a post that has since been taken down. While the apology note indicated the shop has "taken corrective measures with our staff and removed the offensive graffiti" and that "we're not anti-Semitic," a deluge of angry comments poured in — as of Friday afternoon, the apology post had drawn nearly 6,000 comments and nearly 3,000 angry emojis.

Conservative commentator Jason Rantz told Farley's East, "This is a pathetic apology. No comment about the antisemitic staff?"

Fired

Farley's East posted a new Facebook statement Saturday saying the three employees caught on video had been fired.

"Events like these strike fear in the Jewish community and perpetuate the rise of anti-Semitism in our community and around the world. We do not tolerate any behavior at Farley’s that makes people feel unwelcome or unsafe," the statement read, in part, adding that "though all employees are entitled to hold differing viewpoints, they are not entitled to express themselves on the job in ways that are disrespectful and hurtful to anyone."

Reportedly Jewish customer wants to document anti-Semitic graffiti in coffee shop restroom. Rabid leftist workers block her.

A reportedly Jewish customer recently wanted to enter a restroom in an Oakland coffee shop to document anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled inside it, but three coffee shop employees were caught on video blocking the customer from entering the restroom, telling her to leave, and making anti-Semitic comments of their own in the process.

What are the details?

Farley's East coffee shop is apologizing after the confrontation caught on video last week, KPIX-TV reported.

Cellphone video shows the trio of employees — two masked females and one unmasked male — blocking the woman from entering the restroom.

The male is heard telling the woman she already got her food and that she's "holding up s**t."

One of the females tells the customer that "this is private property" and tells her to leave the coffee shop.

A female employee accuses the customer of "misgendering" — though the context of the accusation isn't clear.

The customer says it's her right to enter the restroom, to which the male employee replies, "And we have a right to refuse service."

A third woman — who's unmasked and standing off to the side — jumps into the fray and tells the customer she can use the restroom next door if she wants.

Apology draws angry responses

Farley's East apologized on its Facebook page:

While the apology note indicated that the shop has "taken corrective measures with our staff and removed the offensive graffiti" and that "we're not anti-Semitic," a deluge of angry comments poured in — as of Friday afternoon, the apology post has drawn nearly 6,000 comments and nearly 3,000 angry emojis.

The Facebook account for conservative commentator Jason Rantz's radio show told Farley's East, "This is a pathetic apology. No comment about the antisemitic staff?"

Others couldn't have agreed more:

  • "You may not be antisemetic, but your employees seem to be. Especially the male in the video. How dare he make these statements to her. Time to rethink your staff. I’m trying really hard to be civil here. They’re not making it easy! And about the graffiti, if they knew it was there, it should have immediately been removed. Or the bathrooms closed to everyone with an ‘out of order’ excuse until it could be dealt with," another commenter wrote.
  • "Every single employee in the video needs to be fired. Every. Single. One," another commenter said. "I hope she sues not only the restaurant, but these employees as well. This is NOT 1940s Germany, as much as these employees hope for it."
  • "Not enough, training. Those employees are the face and heart of your shop. If they don't reflect your values, they shouldn't be there," another commenter stated. "If they're still there tomorrow, they reflect your values."

Leftist baristas quit Jewish-owned NYC coffee shop over its support of Israel. It's about to close — then community steps up.

Leftist baristas walked off their jobs at a Jewish-owned New York City coffee shop due to the owner's open support of Israel. With a sudden lack of workers, Caffe Aronne was about to close its doors — and then the surrounding community stepped up to keep it open.

What are the details?

"We put up Israeli flags in all of our locations, and then we put up kidnapping signs in all our windows, and I think that’s what upset our team," Caffe Aronne owner Aaron Dahan told WNYW-TV. "A lot of people were not willing to be a part of that and called it quits."

Dahan, 25, said a total of five baristas have left since Oct. 7, the day Hamas attacked Israel, the New York Post reported.

The shop also started a fundraiser to help Magen David Adom — the Israeli Red Cross — and “our staff was not for it,” Dahan added to the Post.

“Our staff was young. They think they know everything, liberal, college-educated,” he also told the paper. “They think we’re supporting genocide, we’re supporting colonialism. They know the keywords, but they don’t really know what they mean.”

Left without a viable workforce, Dahan called his mother, Peggy, on Tuesday morning and asked her to shut down the shop for the day, the Post said.

“He said, ‘Mom, I’m doing a private event. I need to close the shop.' I said, ‘Aaron, I’m not letting anybody close your shop,'” Peggy Dahan told the paper.

With that, friends and her assistant came to help run the store, the Post said.

“It’s insane what’s going on,” Peggy Dahan noted to the paper. “What happened this morning is I got all these texts from people I don’t even know saying, ‘Peggy, we’re coming.’ I walk in, two people were hugging me at 8:30 a.m. Now there’s a line around the corner. It just shows what an amazing community we have.”

More from the Post:

Around 70 people were lined up outside the shop, stretching down Lexington Avenue and 71st Street while many held Israel’s flag around 1 p.m. The store has seen a significant bump in customers after news spread about their baristas, with local doctors and rabbis stopping in and encouraging people to buy gift cards and purchase menu items.

"New York came together and supported us," Aaron Dahan told WNYW. "It's really very special."

'All this anti-Semitism is very frightening'

Neighborhood resident Bina Dabbah, 57, told the Post she came into the store to offer help as soon as she heard the news and was willing to “wash the dishes, to mop the floors.”

“All this anti-Semitism is very frightening,” Dabbah added to the paper. “I know the baristas here, and it’s just very upsetting that all these young people are — I don’t know what they are, ignorant? Hateful? Brainwashed? It’s very scary this is what’s happening in this country, but I hope somebody knows how to fix it because it’s really scary.”

Leftists bully pro-police coffee shop off college campus. So hundreds flock to shop's other location in solidarity.

Hundreds of customers flocked to Big City Coffee last Friday morning, and since there was no room to hold everybody, patrons were in line far down the block.

An unusual scene to be sure at the small business in Boise, Idaho — but there was a reason so many gathered at the establishment last week.

What are the details?

See, the coffee shop closed its new location on the campus of Boise State University on Oct. 26 after some students criticized a Thin Blue Line flag displayed at the downtown shop, KTVB-TV reported.

Indeed, members of the college's Inclusive Excellence Student Council tore into Big City Coffee at a September meeting and wondered why the franchise was allowed on campus.

One called the shop "not a safe place," and another stated, "We are supporting an organization that blatantly supports the Thin Blue Line, and everyone [sic] black person I know has stories of being treated unfairly at this place ... I believe that supporting this organization during these times is not good."

A third council member had this to say: "This is unacceptable that it is happening. Activists in our area are being targeted and people are being harmed. This company is going to encourage this type of behavior on campus and attract those types of people to our campus. It should not be up to marginalized students to fix this. It is up to the administrators to fix this and allow for students to have a voice. We have known for half a decade that they support Thin Blue Line, and this is unacceptable and should have never happened."

What did the coffee shop owner have to say?

Big City Coffee owner Sarah Fendley wrote on social media that she displays the Thin Blue Line flag as a message of support to police and her fiance, Boise Police Cpl. Kevin Holtry, KTVB said.

Holtry was paralyzed and had his left leg amputated above the knee after he was shot multiple times during a manhunt for a wanted felon in 2016, the station said in a previous story.

In regard to the campus controversy, university officials said the shop owner "requested to be let out of the contract. We agreed to the owner's request. At no time did the administration at Boise State ask Big City Coffee to leave campus. At no time did the administration ask Big City Coffee to compromise the owner's First Amendment rights."

And while Fendley declined to comment to KTVB about the situation, Holtry said there has been a "misconception that [Fendley] left of her own free will, which is actually not even a half-truth, probably an eighth-truth, because she knew darn good and well that she wasn't going to get the support" on campus due to an "extremely small vocal minority."

Good news

But Holtry added to the station that he was "blown away" by the turnout at the coffee shop's downtown location after word got out that they were no longer on the BSU campus — and the reasons why.

"This is really touching and it's been a very amazing day — I've been here for two-and-a-half hours, and it's been like this the entire time," he told KTVB. "It shows what a great community we have, and what people really think and what people — how they live and how they support, not just first responders but local businesses and people who really commit their lives to Boise."
