WATCH Glenn Beck's EPIC takedown of leftist LIES about America, at CPAC 2021

Did you know that New England was the first major population in the world to abolish slavery, doing so nearly 30 years before Britain passed the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 1780? Did you know that, of the 12.7 million Africans who were enslaved during the transatlantic slave trade from 1501 to 1875, only 2.4% were brought to the United States? The remaining more than 10 million people went to Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, and Dutch holdings. Did you know that there are over 40 million people around the globe who are enslaved right now? Why are we arguing about people who were enslaved hundreds of years ago instead of freeing people today?

Speaking at the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas, Texas, Glenn Beck shared a treasure trove of rare artifacts and documents from the history vaults at Mercury One to debunk the leftist lies about slavery, racism, and the real history of America.

"I am sick and tired of the lies that are constantly coming at us. I am sick and tired of it — and I think you are, too. So we're going to set the record straight," Glenn began.

"Americans, hear me ... slavery is not about racism. Slavery is not about America. Slavery is a human condition, it's a human condition that needs to be worked on at all times. Racism is a human condition," Glenn said as he revealed the artifacts and documents provided by M1, Glenn's 501(c)(3) charity founded to provide humanitarian aid and, in partnership with sister organizations The Nazarene Fund and Operation Underground Railroad, rescue, liberate, and restore the lives of hundreds of people who are currently enslaved.

"[Americans] were the first in the world [to abolish slavery] — and we were also the only people that had white people, killing white people, to free black people. Five hundred thousand Americans died for freedom. The people that fought and died, they believed in a higher ideal. They believed ... that all men are created equal. That's why we fought and died. That's why we carry on with that today. That's what the Republican Party should be all about today," he added.

"We all are created equal and endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. Stand for those rights! That is our unum. That will unite us," Glenn declared to a standing ovation.

Trump wins CPAC straw poll by wide margin; DeSantis emerges as heir apparent

Former President Donald Trump handily won the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll. The annual CPAC straw poll serves as a barometer as to potential presidential candidates.

Before Trump delivered his speech on Sunday afternoon at CPAC in Florida, the results of the straw poll were released.

Of the CPAC attendees, 62% said election integrity was the most important issue, followed by 48% who said constitutional rights were of the utmost importance, 35% declared immigration was their top priority, and 32% said reopening the economy was most important issue to them.

As for the direction of the Republican Party, a whopping 95% of conservatives at the political convention want to continue with Trump's issue agenda and policies going forward.

Trump's presidential job approval was 97% with the CPAC crowd, including 87% who strongly approved of the former president's job while he was in the White House.

There were 68% of CPAC attendees who said Trump should run for president in 2024. If Trump was elected as president in 2024, he would be 78-years-old, the same current age as President Joe Biden.

The CPAC straw poll found that Trump was the overwhelming favorite candidate in 2024 at 55%. Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was the runner-up at 21%, followed by Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem at 4%, and Nikki Haley at 3%.

The CPAC straw poll asked who is their preferred presidential candidate if Trump doesn't run, and DeSantis was the overwhelming favorite with 43% of the vote, making him a potential heir apparent to Trump. Noem came in second at 11%, followed by Donald Trump Jr. at 8%, Mike Pompeo with 7%, Ted Cruz at 7%, Tucker Carlson capturing 3%, Josh Hawley snagging 3%, and Ivanka Trump at 3%.

At the 2016 CPAC, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) won the straw poll with 40% of the vote, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). Trump, who canceled his appearance at the convention, finished third with 15% of the votes.

DeSantis delivered his CPAC speech on Friday, where he hit on immigration, big tech censorship, and election security.

"Florida's leading on the issues that matter to conservatives," DeSantis said. "We don't spout hollow rhetoric. We take decisive action."

"We cannot, we will not, go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear," the Florida governor proclaimed. "We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker. Building a movement on amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand."

Hyatt Hotels fires back at Democrats demanding boycott of hotel chain for hosting CPAC

Hyatt Hotels responded to critics on Friday who demanded a boycott of the hotel chain over its decision to host the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida.

What did the hotel say?

A spokesperson for Hyatt said Hyatt is committed to providing "a safe and inclusive environment" to "care for people so they can be their best."

The statement further added that Hyatt believes in diversity of thought, which made hosting CPAC a no-brainer.

We take pride in operating a highly inclusive environment and we believe that the facilitation of gatherings is a central element of what we do as a hospitality company. We believe in the right of individuals and organizations to peacefully express their views, independent of the degree to which the perspectives of those hosting meetings and events at our hotels align with ours. Our own values support a culture that is characterized by empathy, respect and diversity of opinions and backgrounds, and we strive to bring this to light through what we do and how we engage with those in our care.

CPAC is typically hosted just outside of Washington, D.C., in National Harbor, Maryland. However, COVID-related restrictions forced conference organizers to relocate the annual event to Florida this year.

What is the background?

Democrats angry that Hyatt agreed to host the annual gathering of Republicans are calling for a boycott of Hyatt.

The hashtag "#BoycottHyatt" has been trending on social media, with thousands of angry people declaring to never give their business to Hyatt again. Many people even alleged that Hyatt was siding with Nazis and white supremacists by hosting CPAC at one of its properties.

  • "Hey @Hyatt, we're boycotting your hotels for supporting and allowing white supremacists to hold CPAC at your Orlando location. I travel a lot, and you just lost my business, and I'll tell everyone I know to do the same. Shame on you," one person said.
  • "Dear @Hyatt since you are hosting the seditionists who are trying to over throw our government & spread the 'Big Lie', my husband, family & I will no longer be staying at your properties when we travel," another person said.
  • "The people at cpac started an insurrection that killed a cop and injured over one hundred cops and they aren't sorry. They aren't wearing masks. So I know I will never stay at another Hyatt again because if that's how u define inclusive, I'm out," another person said.
  • "A platform for hate is not inclusive, Hyatt. A platform to spread the Big Lie that spawned a violent insurrection and is now fomenting another threatened one is not inclusive. Neutrality with nazis is endorsement of nazis," another person said.
  • "Looks like we must #boycottHYATT immediately for supporting Nazis!! @Hyatt you're making a monumental mistake! We the people do not tolerate racist bull s***!!" another person said.

Anything else?

Former President Donald Trump will close out CPAC on Sunday by delivering the final speech of the conference.

Axios reported last week that Trump is planning to claim "total control" of the Republican Party during his speech, which will be the first of his post-presidential career. Sources told Axios that Trump will present himself to supporters as the "presumptive 2024 nominee" in a "show of force."

Trump senior adviser Jason Miller told Axios, "Trump effectively is the Republican Party. The only chasm is between Beltway insiders and grassroots Republicans around the country. When you attack President Trump, you're attacking the Republican grassroots."

Richard Grenell strongly hints at possible run for governor of California

Richard Grenell, a strong ally of former President Donald Trump, teased a possible run for governor of California.

Grenell delivered a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, where the former U.S. ambassador to Germany hinted at making a gubernatorial run in the deep blue state of California.

"If you want the best case possible for a recall campaign, take a look at my home state of California," Grenell told the crowd at CPAC in Orlando, Florida. "California used to be Reagan country, the shining example of business innovation and middle-class success. But now when you think of California, you think of out-of-control wildfires, of rolling blackouts, of schools still closed, of shuttered business, of bans on fracking, and on wealthy people jumping the vaccine line."

Grenell then took aim at Gavin Newsom, the current Democratic governor of California who is facing a petition recall.

"In my three decades in American politics I have never seen a better case for a recall than there is right now in California," he added. "And of course, if a public official is still failing to deliver on their promises, and if you can't limit their term or recall them in time, there's always one other option: You can run against them yourself."

Mercedes Schlapp, another former member of the Trump administration who was the White House Director of Strategic Communications, was in favor of Grenell running and told the crowd, "How wonderful was Ric Grenell? I don't know, I think he'd make a great governor of California."

Previously, Grenell dismissed the notion that he would run for governor of the Golden State. The former Acting Director of National Intelligence shot down a Politico report earlier this month that he was "laying groundwork for CA governor run should @GavinNewsom recall qualify."

Grenell reacted to the report by tweeting, "Politico has pretended gossip is journalism."

The deadline to submit signatures on a petition to recall Newsom is March 17, but the campaign already surpassed the necessary threshold of 1,497,709. As of Thursday, the petition had 1,825,000 signatures, according to The Recall Newsom campaign.

"However, it's important to note that all those signatures need to be verified as authentic registered voters by the Secretary of State's office before a recall elections is triggered," KABC-TV reported.

Even if Newsom is recalled, it would be a tall order for Grenell, who is embraced by much of Trump's base, to win the deep blue California. In the 2020 presidential election, Trump lost California by more than 29 percentage points to Joe Biden. As of November, registered Democratic voters outnumbered Republicans by almost two to one.

Donald Trump will speak at CPAC on Sunday.
