Ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros has pumped $125 million into a super PAC that will support Democratic candidates and causes.
Soros will funnel $125 million into Democracy PAC, a political action committee established in 2019 that poured more than $80 million into Democratic candidates and groups during the 2020 election cycle, according to Politico.
Soros said the $125 million is a "long-term investment" to be utilized for the 2022 midterms and beyond.
Politico reported, "The new, nine-figure investment from Soros is aimed at supporting pro-democracy 'causes and candidates, regardless of political party' who are invested in 'strengthening the infrastructure of American democracy: voting rights and civic participation, civil rights and liberties, and the rule of law.'"
The outlet also noted that Alexander Soros – the son of the billionaire megadonor – will serve as the president of Democracy PAC.
"Events of the last two years, particularly the January 6th insurrection and ongoing efforts to discredit and undermine our electoral process, reveal the magnitude of the threat to our democracy," Alexander Soros said. "It is a generational threat that cannot be addressed in just one or two election cycles. Democracy PAC is now positioned to pursue its mission of preserving and protecting our democracy well into the future."
According to Open Secrets, Democracy PAC donated to the abortion advocacy groups Planned Parenthood and NARAL during the 2020 election cycle.
According to Influence Watch, "Democracy PAC’s biggest recipient has been Senate Majority PAC, which received $7 million. The next largest recipient was Priorities USA Action, a PAC founded by senior Obama administration staffers Bill Burton and Sean Sweeney, which received $5 million."
"Senate Majority PAC was founded by experienced, aggressive Democratic strategists with one mission: To win Senate races," reads the website of the political action committee that was established in 2011.
Politico noted, "Only a handful of major donors have contributed nine figures to federal groups and candidates in recent years, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks political giving."
Democracy PAC's spending reports will be posted publicly on Monday after it files with the Federal Elections Commission.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) reacted to the massive injection of funding by the liberal billionaire, saying, "George Soros is spending $125 million to help Dems win this fall. If Soros is running ads in a race, we can assume that Dem candidate supports the Soros crime policies that caused the murder wave."
George Soros has a net worth of $8.6 billion, according to Forbes, and has been known for making hefty donations to progressive candidates.
In July, Soros gave $1 million to a political action committee that supports the defund the police movement.
The 91-year-old megadonor provided $1 million to the "Stop the Republican Recall of Governor Newsom" organization.
The Capital Research Center reported last week that 24 district attorneys had been elected since 2015 with financial aid from political action committees funded by Soros.
"CRC researchers have tracked more than $29 million in funding from Soros through a personal network of political action committees (PACs) formed specifically to back left-wing DA candidates," the report claimed.
