OutKick's Clay Travis: 'I'm voting for Donald Trump'

Sports journalist Clay Travis, the founder of OutKick, announced in an article published Friday that he will vote for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Previously a loyal Democratic voter, Travis said the party he used to support "has lost its connection with the regular people in this country."

"On Tuesday, I will vote for Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election," Travis wrote, adding that while he doesn't believe in endorsements and wants his readers to make their own decisions, he does believe his readers deserve to know what he thinks.

"For better or worse, I tell you every single day exactly what I think about a variety of issues. I don't expect you all to agree with me on every one of those issues, but I do believe that the reason the OutKick audience is exploding across audio, video, and web is because there's a deep and abiding desire in this country for people from all walks to life to say exactly what they believe and not apologize for their opinions," Travis continued.

Addressing media bias, Travis said he's proud of OutKick's commitment to free speech and the diversity of thought represented by his colleagues. He thinks it is "dangerous" for any media entity to only employ people who already agree on everything.

"That's why more so now than at any point in my life, I believe every single media member should address his or her audience and say exactly what they are doing with their own vote this year," Travis wrote. "I think authenticity matters, and I believe audiences should know what public figures who claim to be unbiased do when they enter the privacy of a voting booth. This is not a new position for me. I have shared my presidential votes publicly every year that I've been a public figure."

Travis described his voting history, noting that since he became a media figure in 2004 he's voted for Democrats in three of the four subsequent elections, even voting for President Barack Obama twice.

"For much of my adult life, I considered myself a Democrat, but in 2016 that began to change," Travis acknowledged. "In 2016, I wasn't happy with the choices between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, so I voted for the Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson. As a general rule, I have very many libertarian beliefs — I'm not a social justice warrior, but I also believe that adults, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, gay or straight, should be left to their own devices to pursue happiness as they see fit.

"I want the government telling me less, not more, about what I can and can't do every single day," he added.

Travis said he does not regret his votes for Obama in 2008 and 2012, but believes that Obama's victories changed the Democratic Party, leading them to embrace racial identity politics to replicate the levels of black voter turnout that helped Obama win the White House.

"But Obama wasn't a politician who focused on identity politics. His campaign was not laced with accusations of systemic inequality, and it didn't embrace the idea that America was a corrupt and venal land filled with racist and evil people," Travis wrote.

"Hillary Clinton wanted Obama's voters, but she lacked his political gifts. She tried to roll up black support by arguing Trump was racist. It's the same choice being made by Biden today. I fundamentally reject the idea that America is a racist country. In fact, I think America is the least racist country in the history of the world."

He defended American exceptionalism, calling the U.S. "the greatest country in the history of the world."

He identified five issues motivating him to vote for Trump in 2020: Ending cancel culture on social media platforms; opening the American economy; confronting China "as aggressively as possible"; keeping nine justices on the Supreme Court; and defending American exceptionalism, capitalistic democracy, and supporting the police and the military.

Travis also posted a video on social media discussing in part his decision to vote for Trump.

NHL Hall of Famer Bobby Orr endorses President Trump for re-election: 'The kind of teammate I want'

Hockey Hall of Fame legend Bobby Orr is supporting Donald Trump for president.

Orr, a former Bruins player and Florida resident, endorsed the president for re-election in a full-page newspaper advertisement published in Friday's edition of the New Hampshire Union Leader, Boston.com reported.

"Everyone has an opinion as our upcoming Presidential election approaches, and I am no different. When I look at America during these turbulent times, I keep trying to separate style from substance, fact from fiction," the advertisement said. "This much I know. Our current President has had to operate under extremely difficult conditions over these past several years. In addition, no leader anywhere signed up with the idea that dealing with a worldwide pandemic would be a part of their mandate. The attacks on our president have been unrelenting since the day he took office. Despite that, President Trump has delivered for all American people, regardless of race, gender, or station in life.

"That's the kind of teammate I want."

The two-time Stanley Cup champion asked New Hampshire voters to remember how Trump's policies have benefited America, even if they don't like his tweets.

"Perhaps you do not like his tweets or how the President says things sometimes, and that is your right. But remember, this is not a personality contested; it's about policies and the people those policies assist," Orr wrote.

"I have never done anything like this before, but I am greatly concerned for the country in which I have raised my family — a country I have grown to love deeply," he continued. "I want my grandchildren to know the America I know, a place of Patriotism and opportunity."

"Some of you may still be undecided at this point. Your vote for President Trump would help keep America moving forward in the years ahead.

"So please, join Peggy and me in supporting President Donald J. Trump for re-election in this most important election."

The New Hampshire Union Leader endorsed Joe Biden for president on Sunday, endorsing a Democrat for the first time in 100 years.

A recent poll conducted by UMass Lowell found that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden leads Trump by 10 points in the granite state. According to other polls aggregated by RealClearPolitics, Biden has been leading Trump in the granite state since June.

in the 2016 presidential election, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton carried New Hampshire by fewer than 3,000 votes.

Golf legend Jack Nicklaus endorses President Trump and the president responds on Twitter

Golf icon Jack Nicklaus endorsed President Donald Trump for next week's presidential election and the president offered a grateful response from his Twitter account.

Nicklaus tweeted his endorsement in a statement on Wednesday.

"Through the years, I have been blessed to personally know several Presidents on both sides of the aisle. All were good people. All loved their country. And all believed in the American Dream," he said.

"I have had the privilege over the last 3 1/2 years to get to know our current President a little more as his term has progressed," Nicklaus continued. "I have been very disappointed at what he's had to put up with from many directions, but with that, I have seen a resolve and a determination to do the right thing for our country. He has delivered on his promises. He's worked for the average person. In my opinion, he has been more diverse than any President I have seen and has tried to help people from all walks of life — equally."

Nicklaus went on to say that he believed the president would deliver the American Dream to more Americans in a second term, and addressed criticism from those who dislike Trump's tone.

"You might not like the way our President says or tweets some things — and trust me, I have told him that! — but I have learned to look past that and focus on what he's tried to accomplish. This is not a personality contest; it's about patriotism, policies, and the people they impact. His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear," he continued. "How he has said it has not been important. What has been important are his actions. Now, you have the opportunity to take action."

Nicklaus said that he voted for Trump and that anyone who was against socialism should vote for him as well.

"Jack, this is a Great Honor. Thank you!" responded Trump in a tweet.
