Kamala Harris mocked for rambling 'word salad' answer to why Democrats didn't codify Roe v. Wade: 'What is she saying?'

Vice President Kamala Harris was stumped by a question about Roe v. Wade, and proceeded to give a rambling answer.

During a CBS News interview, correspondent Robert Costa asked Harris, "When you look back, did Democrats fail – past Democratic presidents, congressional leaders – to not codify Roe v. Wade over the past five decades?"

Harris immediately ceased having eye contact with Costa, looked away, then gave a meandering response.

"I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled," Harris rambled.

Costa quickly rebutted, "Clearly were not."

Harris replied, "No, that's right. And that's why I do believe that we are living, sadly, in real unsettled times."

Vice President Harris was lampooned for her blathering response in numerous Twitter reactions.

Digital strategist Logan Hall: "Mastered the art of talking while saying nothing."

Progressive YouTuber Emma Vigeland: "This is incoherent. Is everything ok…?"

Former digital media adviser to Hillary Clinton Peter Daou: "WHAT IS SHE SAYING?"

Radio host Clay Travis: "How is it possible that Kamala Harris is this bad at public speaking?"

Writer Ryan Songalia: "Captions need a bouncing ball to follow along with the words."

"The Simpsons" writer Broti Gupta: "Kamala Harris talks like she has a translator earpiece on and it has water damage."

Republican consultant Erin Perrine: "Biden-Harris: The Ron Burgundy—Word Salad Chef Administration."

Radio host Erick Erickson: "Holy cow what a bad answer. This is going to cause a Dem revolt. The GOP has been after this for decades. But the Dems thought it settled so did nothing?!"

Editor Curtis Houck: "What is with this administration and an aversion to basic speaking skills and grasp of the English language?"

Kamala was also mocked this week for being "seriously" repetitive while giving a speech at the site of the 4th of July parade shooting in Highland Park, Illinois.

"And — and we’ll deal with what we need to deal with in terms of also, as we move forward, all agreeing that we’ve got to be smarter as a country in terms of who has access to what and, in particular, assault weapons," Harris told the crowd.

"And we got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are — because you have been forced to have to take it seriously," Vice President Harris blithered.

On Friday, Harris met with state legislative leaders from Indiana, Florida, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana who are seeking to expand abortion in their states.

Harris was repetitive once again.

The vice president uttered, "Well,thisreallydoeshighlight,um,theimportanceofelectionsandwhowillbeelectedintermsofwhogetselected."

Also during the meeting, she said, "We cannot wait for Congress to act. Congress must act but also we cannot wait for Congress to act."

However, it wasn't only the vice president who had a difficult time talking this week. President Joe Biden also suffered yet another round of verbal gaffes this week.

While speaking about a new executive order on abortion, Biden read instructions to "repeat the line" out loud from the teleprompter instead of repeating the line.

The president also read the words "end of quote" aloud instead of acknowledging that it was an end of a quote.

The White House assistant press secretary and the White House official transcript attempted to cover for President Biden by claiming that he said, "let me repeat the line," despite video evidence that he actually said, "repeat the line."

American intelligence says that Russia will invade Ukraine as Western allies scramble to find a diplomatic solution

The United States has intelligence that Russian commanders received orders to proceed with an invasion of Ukraine, CBS News reported.

CBS News host, Margaret Brennan said, “The president was very clear that he is convinced by U.S. intelligence that this invasion will happen, that President Putin [has] decided to do it. How was he that certain?”

CBS News correspondent David Martin responded by saying, “The intelligence says that Russian troops have actually received orders now, to proceed with the invasion. So, not only are they moving up closer and closer to the border into these attack positions, but the commanders on the ground are making specific plans for how they would maneuver in their sector of the battlefield.”

Martin said that the Russian forces are doing “everything that American commanders would do once they got the order to proceed.”

On Friday, President Joe Biden told reporters that he was “convinced” Russian leadership had decided to invade Ukraine and that he expected Russian forces to invade Ukraine in the “coming days.”

Previously, Ukrainian leadership said that Russia was working to destabilize Ukraine from within to create circumstances that would justify an invasion.

Oleksiy Danilov, Ukraine’s top national security adviser, said that a military invasion would be too costly for Russia given the size of Ukraine’s military and the Ukrainian people’s will to fight.

Danilov also speculated that West continuing to pressure Russia would cause Russian leadership to shy away from conventional means of warfare and pursue a series of intense cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and economic pressure.

However, as tension in the region continues to escalate, the Russian military announced that it would be conducting military drills involving the country’s strategic nuclear forces.

A spokesman for the Kremlin said that Vladimir Putin would watch the drills from the Defense Ministry’s situation room and supervise the practice missile launches in person.

Moscow continues to deny that it has any plans to invade Ukraine and demands that the United States and NATO allies withdraw their military forces from territories near Russia and make legally binding commitments that Ukraine will not join NATO. Leadership in Washington and Brussels refuse to meet these demands.

The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed that he was interested in meeting with Putin so that they could come to a diplomatic consensus that would end the ongoing conflict.

On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris met with European leaders in Munich, Germany, to discuss the conflict and strategize with Western leaders on how they might deter a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Several international airlines have stopped providing service to the Ukraine at this time.

Anti-Trump GOP congressman compares Republican Party to sinking Titanic, calls out McCarthy

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) on Sunday compared the current state of the Republican Party to the Titanic, the British ship that infamously sank in 1912.

Kinzinger is a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and was one of the few Republicans who called for Trump to be removed from office after the deadly Capitol riot on Jan. 6. Kinzinger later voted to impeach Trump.

What did he say?

Speaking on CBS' "Face The Nation," Kinzinger denounced the internal fight over Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, who is facing a campaign to be unseated from GOP leadership for criticizing Trump and supporting Trump's second impeachment.

"Right now, it's basically the Titanic. We're like, you know, in the middle of this slow sink. We have a band playing on the deck telling everybody it's fine. And meanwhile, as I've said, you know, Donald Trump's running around trying to find women's clothing and get on the first lifeboat," Kinzger said.

"And I think there's a few of us that are just saying, 'Guys, this is not good,' not just for the future of the party, but this is not good for the future of this country," he added.

The problem, Kinzinger explained, is the Republican Party has refused "to have an internal look and a full accounting as to what led to Jan. 6."

"We're four months after Jan. 6, an insurrection, something that was unthinkable in this country. And the message from the people that want to get rid of Liz Cheney is to say, 'It's just time to focus on the future and move on,' like this was 10 years ago and we've been obsessed about it since. It's been four months," Kinzinger said.

"And we have so many people, including our leadership in the party, that has not admitted that this is what it is, which was an insurrection led by the president of the United States, well deserving of a full accounting from Republicans," he continued.

Anything else?

Earlier in the interview, Kinzinger addressed House Minority Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who has now voiced support for removing Cheney from House GOP leadership.

Kinzinger essentially called McCarthy a hypocrite.

"It's incredible," Kinzinger said. "Liz Cheney is saying exactly what Kevin McCarthy said the day of the insurrection. She's just consistently been saying it. And a few weeks later, Kevin McCarthy changed to attacking other people."

Over the weekend, McCarthy officially endorsed Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) to replace Cheney as the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference. McCarthy claimed Cheney must be removed for the sake of party unity.

"We want to be united in looking, moving forward," he said.
