'We must remove that country': Top Hamas official's honesty undermines argument for a ceasefire

Hamas spokesman Ghazi Hamad declared last week that nothing will stop Hamas from its goal of destroying Israel.

"Israel is a country that has no place on our land," Hamad said in an interview with a Lebanese TV station on Oct. 24.

"We must remove that country because it constitutes a security military and political catastrophe to the Arabic and Islamic nation and must be finished. We are not ashamed to say this with full force," he said. "We must teach Israel a lesson, and we will do this again and again. ... Will we have to pay a price? Yes, and we are ready to pay it. We are called a nation of martyrs, and we are proud to sacrifice martyrs."

Hamad said the alleged "occupation must end" not only in the Gaza Strip but in "all Palestinian lands." That means Hamas' goal, he admitted, is the "annihilation of Israel."

"The existence of Israel is illogical. The existence of Israel is what causes all that pain, blood, and tears. It is Israel — not us. We are victims of the occupation. Period," Hamad said.

"Therefore, nobody should blame us for the things we do. On Oct. 7, Oct. 10, Oct. 1,000,000 — everything we do is justified," he claimed.

Hamad's comments are eye-opening, terrifying, and refreshingly clear.

While much of the Western world is interested in drawing equivalencies between Hamas and the Israeli government, Hamad is honest and consistent. Those in Hamas do not believe Israel has a right to exist, and they believe it is their duty to destroy the Jewish people.

Moreover, Hamad undermined the argument for a ceasefire. Because Hamas is clear that it will not stop until Israel is destroyed, a ceasefire rewards Hamas because Israel would be the only party that abides by it. And with Israel hamstrung by a ceasefire, Hamas will likely launch many more Oct. 7s — just as Hamad promised.

Hamas spokesman rips off mic, storms out of interview when BBC reporter confronts him with all the right questions

Hamas spokesman Ghazi Hamad abruptly ended a BBC interview this week after he was confronted about Hamas terrorists deliberately targeting Israeli civilians in the attack on Oct. 7.

In the interview, Hamad claimed "there was no command to kill any civilians," attributing Israeli civilian deaths to geography and "clashes and confrontations." But BBC correspondent Hugo Bachega had no time for Hamad's lies.

"It's not confrontation. You raided houses," Bachega fact-checked.

Hamad responded that Hamas had no "intention or decision" of targeting civilians and claimed Hamas' attack was simply a "military operation." But the interview became increasingly tense when Bachega pressed Hamad on the hostage situation and killing civilians in their homes. The interrogation made Hamad visibly agitated.

"How do you justify killing people as they sleep, you know, families, how do you justify killing hundreds of people in—" Bachega asked when Hamad cut him off.

"I want to stop this interview," Hamad said, pulling the microphone from his suit jacket. "I want to stop this interview."

At that point, the interview stopped, and Hamad left.

Evidence collected from captured Hamas fighters and documents found on the dead bodies of terrorists prove that Hamad's claims are nothing but lies.

A handwritten note discovered on the deceased body of one Hamas fighter, for example, instructed the terrorist to mutilate the dead bodies of their Israeli victims.

"You must sharpen the blades of your swords and be pure in your intentions before Allah. Know that the enemy is a disease that has no cure, except beheading and removing the hearts and livers. Attack them!" the note, written in Arabic, read, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Of course, the casualty numbers — more than 1,400 Israelis and foreigners murdered, hundreds kidnapped and taken hostage, and thousands more injured — is proof Hamas planned to target civilians. Look no further than the hundreds of innocent people slaughtered at the music festival near the Re'im kibbutz as evidence that targeting civilians was the plan.

Moreover, Israeli forces have released camera footage collected from Hamas fighters showing them murdering, torturing, and mutilating innocent people.
