FLASHBACK: Glenn's 2011 'Restoring Israel' speech will give you CHILLS
Glenn Beck is no stranger to the courage shown by Israel.
In a speech he gave in Jerusalem on August 24, 2011, Glenn challenged Americans to help Israelis restore this courage as people around the world turned against them.
Now, Glenn believes those words are more relevant — and important — than ever.
“I have been asked by the press over and over again: what is it you think you can teach Israel about courage? My answer is simple: nothing,” Glenn told the cheering crowd in Jerusalem.
He recalls the press then asking him, “So then why would you come to Israel?”
“Because, I say, in Israel you see courage,” he answered. “In Israel, there is more courage in one small square mile than in all of Europe. In Israel, there is more courage in one soldier than in the combined and cold hearts of every bureaucrat at the United Nations.”
Israelis, Glenn believes, “will stand against incredible odds against the entire tide of global opinion just because it's right.”
And today, the world needs that courage and principled strength more than ever.
“You don’t really have to be a prophet to know that things aren’t really going that well,” he continued. “The threats are mounting, and evil is growing. Darkness is falling. Too many politicians are just too willing to look away. The shapeshifters are working. They have turned day into night and good into evil.”
Glenn knows that the work that’s needed to be done won’t be done by those in charge, but by the people they’re supposed to be leading.
“Did a commission of men stop the Holocaust? Did a committee of Congress stop Jim Crow?” he asks. He then answers his own questions: “In each case, the work was done by individuals who would not abide by the convenient lies. They saw injustice and called it out and called evil by its name.”
“No matter where you are,” he continues, “I ask you today to link arms with me. Link arms with others. Link arms, stand with courage, and walk behind the pillar of fire.”
Glenn believed then, as he does now, that it's our duty not just to stand together, but to stand with the Israeli people.
“I stand with Israel. I will stand with the Jewish people, and if they want to round all of us up again, I will proudly raise my hand and say, 'Take me first.'"
