Internet helps Politico with its amnesia after it claims Vance is trying to 'tether' Biden to Harris

The liberal media has worked hard in recent weeks to help Democratic operatives rehabilitate Kamala Harris' public image. Essential to that effort has been her characterization as competent and capable — a task made all the more difficult by her track record as vice president and border czar over the past three years.

Establishmentarians' desperation to gloss over Harris' complicity in President Joe Biden's various failings and unpopular initiatives was crystallized in a Politico article this week, titled, "'Our corrupt leadership': Vance tries to tether Harris to Biden during Michigan rally."

Critics rushed to note that Vance doesn't have to do what Harris has already done — that there is a hyphen in "Biden-Harris administration" that both serves as a tether and cuts through the absurdity of Politico's framing.

All administration officials refer to the 'Biden-Harris administration' instead of the easier-to-say 'Biden administration.'

In fact, Politico has previously emphasized the existence of this hyphen.

Politico reported in early 2021 that:

For personnel announcements during the transition, officials were told to include quotes from both Biden and Harris. And all administration officials refer to the 'Biden-Harris administration' instead of the easier-to-say 'Biden administration.'

Various federal agencies followed suit, all making sure to tether Harris to Biden. Again, according to Politico, the "Education Department was referring to the 'Biden-Harris administration' on its website from Day 1, with the Treasury Department and the Office of Personnel Management following suit on Jan. 25."

Harris has effectively been tethered to Biden since 2020.

'Fast food industry tries to tie Ronald McDonald to McDonalds.'

Harris' previous presidential campaign was a complete failure — so much so, she didn't even make it to the first vote. The New York Times indicated ahead of the campaign's collapse that Harris "has proved to be an uneven campaigner who changes her message and tactics to little effect and has a staff torn into factions."

After August 2019, when she was briefly polling around 10%, she took a massive nosedive in the polls and never recovered. Shortly after a poll revealed that a majority of Democrats in her own state of California wanted her to call it quits, she did so, bailing out in December 2019.

Biden apparently took pity on Harris, telling reporters, "I have mixed emotions about [her exit]," and calling her a "first-rate candidate." Ultimately, Biden permitted Harris to tether herself to him and together they proceeded to take power.

In the years since, Harris has routinely cosigned Biden's policy initiatives and decisions, including the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, which Harris has boasted signing off on.

Despite Harris' history of working hand in glove with Biden, Politico reported Tuesday, "Former President Donald Trump's running mate tried to tie Harris to the Biden administration's policies — saying at one point that 'Kamala Harris has been calling the shots' — while also warning of China's emergence as an economic superpower that's taking jobs away from the U.S."

Politico's controversial suggestion that Vance is unfairly insinuating a link between Harris and Biden has been met with widespread ridicule as well as a community note on X.

Vance responded to the article on X, tweeting, "The thing is: she's Biden's Vice President."

Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) posted an image of the Biden-Harris 2024 logo, noting it was "their campaign logo up and until a few weeks ago."

Blaze News social media specialist Ben McDonald quipped, "Fast food industry tries to tie Ronald McDonald to McDonalds."

"I knew the corporate press was shameless but I didn't realize that they were this stupid," wrote anarcho-capitalist author Michael Malice.

Amid the backlash, Politico stealthily changed the title of its article without an editor's note admitting the alteration. At the time of publication, the article was titled, "Vance warns of China’s influence during Michigan rally."

Tulsi Gabbard fears for family and freedom upon learning Harris admin allegedly targeted her for surveillance

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) revealed Friday to nationally syndicated radio host and co-founder of Blaze Media Glenn Beck precisely how devastated she was to learn that the Harris administration may be surveilling her via a program designed to identify and monitor potential terrorists.

While she feels personally betrayed — having enlisted in the military in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, countering extremism across three war zones — Gabbard expressed concern that her family could be at risk and that she is "not the only veteran or service member who they have chosen to put on this list."

"This goes against the core of our First Amendment, which our founders intentionally put in place to ensure our protected speech, whether we be praising the government or we be criticizing our government," said Gabbard. "That is core to the founding of who we are as a country."

Several Federal Air Marshal whistleblowers recently came forward with information indicating that Gabbard may be enrolled in the Transportation Security Administration's Quiet Skies program.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the Quiet Skies program adds "another layer of risk-based security by identifying individuals who may pose an elevated security risk in addition to individuals on other watch lists maintained by the Federal government, so that TSA can take appropriate actions to address and mitigate that risk."

UncoverDC reported that the whistleblowers initially shared evidence of Gabbard's placement on what is effectively a terror watch list with Sonya LaBosco, executive director of the Air Marshal National Council. LaBosco subsequently revealed at least one of the marshals is willing to go on the record with the relevant evidence.

'They see those of us who rightly criticize our governments, and their corruption, and their abuse of power, as a domestic threat.'

Unbeknownst to Gabbard — at least until this week — every time she got on an airplane, there with her were two explosive detection canine teams, a transportation security specialist, a plainclothes TSA supervisor, and three Federal Air Marshals, said Bosco.

When pressed on allegations about Gabbard's listing, a TSA spokesman recently told investigative reporter Matt Taibbi:

TSA uses multi-layered security processes to protect the nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. TSA's Quiet Skies program uses a risk-based approach to identify passengers and apply enhanced security measures on some domestic and outbound international flights.

The spokesman added, "To safeguard sensitive national security measures, TSA does not confirm or deny whether any individual has matched to a risk-based rule. These rules are applied to a limited number of travelers for a limited period of time. Simply matching to a risk-based rule does not constitute derogatory information about an individual."

There has been speculation that Gabbard's criticism of the Washington establishment's reflexive interventionism and her departure from the Democratic Party may have prompted her alleged enrollment in Quiet Skies program. Gabbard is also unlikely to have made friends in the current administration by tanking Kamala Harris' presidential bid in 2020.

While mystified by "their insane, tyrannical thinking," Gabbard told Beck that her targeting by the Democratic administration would be par for the course given that "we've already seen proof over these last four years ... they will weaponize any levers of power they have within the government to go after those who they deem to be a threat to their power, who they deem to be a political opponent."

Beck alluded to failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's Oct. 17, 2019, smear against Gabbard, when she suggested Gabbard is "the favorite of the Russians. ... Yeah, she's a Russian asset."

"They see those of us who rightly criticize our governments, and their corruption, and their abuse of power, as a domestic threat," continued Gabbard. "They say so publicly. They say, 'Hey, those who criticize public institutions may be domestic extremists or terrorists.'"

In recent years, it has taken a whole lot less than criticism of the state to warrant suspicion as a potential domestic terrorist.

For instance, Blaze News reported late last year on a report from the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government indicating that the FBI "abused its counterterrorism tools to target Catholic Americans as potential domestic terrorists."

"The only assumption that I can make is that they're coming after me because of my speaking the truth and revealing who they really are," Gabbard told Beck.

The former congresswoman indicated that the possibility of her enrollment in Quiet Skies is already having a chilling effect — that she now faces the "constant stress of knowing that I am being surveilled by my government and wondering if and how they are doing that. How are they monitoring my movement? Are they listening to my phone calls? Are they reading my emails and text messages?"

Gabbard emphasized that it is impossible to live freely under the thumb of a regime that has "no hesitation in weaponizing whatever they can get their hands on."

Such a state of play is reminiscent of "the Stalin approach," she added. "Find me the man, and I'll tell you the crime."

U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), who penned a letter to TSA Administrator David Pekoske Thursday regarding the veracity of the whistleblowers' claims, said he found the allegations "profoundly troubling."

Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice, indicated that his outfit is "launching a multipronged legal effort not only to defend Tulsi Gabbard but to defeat the weaponization of government against conservatives, our military, and the free speech of all Americans once and for all."

The ACLJ intends to file Freedom of Information Act requests with the TSA, the DHS, and the FBI, seeking answers about Gabbard's alleged targeting.

Who might be Kamala Harris' running mate? Leading contenders Democrats may be considering.

With President Joe Biden stepping out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris, rumors are swirling about Harris' potential pick for running mate, should she secure the nomination.

Since the Sunday announcement from the Biden administration, Harris has raised roughly $50 million in donations, according to Lauren Hitt, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, The Hill reported.

Harris responded to Biden's support in a recent statement, noting, "I am honored to have the President's endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination."

"I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda," she continued. "We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win."

Democrats have already started naming their preferred vice presidential picks for a Harris ticket. Those being considered so far appear to include Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and United States Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona. All of the floated potential candidates are Democratic politicians from red or purple swing states.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro

Shapiro, viewed as a likely pick for running mate, was among several Democrats to endorse Harris in the upcoming presidential election in the wake of Biden's announcement that he was stepping out of the race.

In a Sunday statement, Shapiro wrote, "I've known Kamala Harris for nearly two decades — we've both been prosecutors, we've both stood up for the rule of law, we've both fought for the people and delivered results. Kamala Harris is a patriot worthy of our support and she will continue the work of generations of Americans who came before us to perfect our union, protect our democracy, and advance real freedom. She has served the country honorably as Vice President and she is ready to be President."

Shapiro claimed that the "best path forward for the Democratic Party is to quickly unite behind Vice President Harris and refocus on winning the presidency."

"I will do everything I can to help elect Kamala Harris as the 47th President of the United States," he declared.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper

Cooper also threw his support behind Harris' campaign. He won his gubernatorial elections in 2016 and 2020 — the same years that former President Donald Trump secured wins in North Carolina. Cooper will have reached his term limit as governor after this year.

Cooper wrote on X Sunday afternoon, "President Biden has cemented his place among our nation's finest Presidents. When our democracy faced danger, President Biden stood strong as the rarest type of leader who could help us forge ahead with a vision to repair our country's soul."

In a separate post, Cooper declared that Harris "should be the next President," noting that he has known her since they both served as attorneys general.

"She has what it takes to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country thoughtfully and with integrity. I look forward to campaigning for her as we work to win NC up and down the ticket," Cooper said.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear

Beshear stated that Biden's decision to suspend his presidential campaign "could not have been easy" but was "in the best interest of our country, and our party."

The governor appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday to announce his "full support" for Harris' presidential campaign.

"She's incredibly tough & smart, w/ the compassion and empathy to be a phenomenal president. She'll bring our country together and move us past the anger politics we've seen in recent years," Beshear wrote on X.

In 2020, Beshear secured his second term as governor, defeating a Trump-backed Republican opponent.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly

Rumors are circulating that Kelly is also among those being considered as Harris' running mate. On Sunday, Kelly stated that he "couldn't be more confident" that Harris "is the right person to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country into the future."

"She has my support for the nomination, and Gabby and I will do everything we can to elect her President of the United States," Kelly added, referring to his wife, Gabrielle Giffords (D), a former U.S. Representative from Arizona.

Kelly praised Biden for being "one of the most consequential presidents in history," crediting the president for his response to COVID and "bring[ing] back microchip and clean energy manufacturing."

"He has strengthened our alliances and made our country safer," he claimed.

Anything else?

While it remains to be seen whom Harris might select as her vice president, the Wall Street Journal reported that she spoke with Shapiro, Cooper, and Beshear on Sunday afternoon.

Additional potential running mates who may be up for Harris' consideration include Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.

'Harris administration?' Biden and Harris both slip up in public about who is in charge

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), both had public slipups in which they spoke as if Harris was the one running for president, not Biden.

The remarks gained significant attention online due to longstanding speculation about Biden's mental fitness to be president and a belief in the possibility that Harris, who ran for president this cycle as well, might have more influence than a typical vice president if Biden is elected.

Monday, Harris referred to a "Harris administration" during a virtual roundtable with small business owners in Arizona. From Fox News:

However, the California senator appeared to briefly suggest that she was at the top of the Democratic ticket.

"A Harris administration, together with Joe Biden as the president of the United States," she said. She quickly clarified, "The Biden-Harris administration will provide access to $100 billion in low-interest loans and investments from minority business owners."

Tuesday, Biden put his running mate's name at the top of the ticket during a campaign event in Tampa, Florida.

"It makes it so much harder for military spouses to find good jobs and build their careers. That has to change," Biden said. "A Harris-Biden administration is going to relaunch that effort and keep pushing further to make it easier for military spouses and veterans to find meaningful careers to ensure teachers know how to support military children in their classrooms and to improve support for caregivers and survivors so much more than we do now."

President Donald Trump has persistently questioned Biden's potential authority as president, saying that Biden is simply being used as a "Trojan horse" for a radical far-left agenda that Biden himself doesn't necessarily even support.

Biden's public appearances have been heavily scripted and controlled, perhaps increasingly so in recent weeks. Biden rarely takes questions, and there has been evidence that during live television interviews Biden is relying on a teleprompter to get by—and even then, he doesn't always relay the message clearly.

When asked directly by Fox News host Bret Baier whether Biden uses a teleprompter during live interviews, Biden campaign national press secretary TJ Ducklo refused to answer the yes-or-no question.

"We are not going to — this is straight from the Trump campaign talking points," Ducklo said.

Biden has been heard reading guiding notes such as "top-line message" and "end of quote" while answering questions during TV interviews. When left on his own, Biden has struggled with recalling facts ranging from the number of U.S. military personnel that have died from COVID-19 to the number of grandchildren he has.

Joe Biden And Kamala Harris Make Freudian Slips, Accidentally Referring To A ‘Harris Administration’

Vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris spoke of a “Harris administration,” while discussing economic plans during a virtual roundtable Saturday.
