Herschel Walker threatens to sue the Daily Beast for defamation over report he paid for girlfriend's abortion

The U.S. Senate race in Georgia was upended Monday after the Daily Beast published an explosive report claiming to have evidence that pro-life Republican Herschel Walker paid for his girlfriend's abortion more than a decade ago.

Walker, a football legend in the state, has vehemently denied the report and said he intends to sue the Daily Beast for defamation. He called the story a "flat-out lie" and a "hatchet job," and a lawyer for his campaign accused the Daily Beast of targeting "black conservatives" with anonymously sourced reporting.

The Daily Beast report cites a woman who asked to remain anonymous for her privacy. She is a registered Democrat who claims to have conceived a child with Walker in 2009. The woman says she aborted the child, purportedly at Walker's urging, and that Walker reimbursed her for the expense.

The woman supported her claims by providing the Daily Beast with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a "get well" card signed by Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that shows an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker. She says there is a $125 difference between the check and the receipt because she "ballparked" the cost of an abortion after Googling the procedure and added estimated travel expenses and recovery costs. The Daily Beast also spoke with friends of the woman who supported her claims.

Walker is a pro-life Republican who supports a national ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy and has stated there are "no exceptions in my mind." He says the Daily Beast story is false.

"This is a flat-out lie - and I deny this in the strongest possible terms," Walker said in a statement released Monday.

“Regarding the latest Democrat attack:”
— Herschel Walker (@Herschel Walker) 1664839020

"This is another repugnant hatchet job from a democrat activist disguised as a reporter who has obsessively attacked my family and tried to tear me down since this race started," he added. Walker accused the Daily Beast reporter of harassing his friends with questions about his illegitimate children and of using anonymous sources "to further slander me."

"I'm not taking this anymore. I planning [sic] to sue the Daily Beast for this defamatory lie. It will be filed tomorrow morning," Walker said.

The October surprise accusations have roiled what was already considered a highly competitive race between Walker and incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.). Walker, who was recruited to run for Senate and endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has been within the margin of error in several head-to-head polls against Warnock in September. He has faced attacks from the left over his controversial background and self-admitted struggles with mental health issues.

In contrast stands Warnock, a progressive reverend who is unapologetically pro-choice and opposes restrictions on abortion. The Democratic incumbent has painted Walker as too unstable to represent Georgia in the Senate, though Republicans have brought up domestic violence allegations leveled against Warnock by his ex-wife.

Republicans in Georgia are panicking over the Daily Beast story and the reaction from members of Walker's family. His 19-year-old son Christian Walker, an outspoken conservative, ripped his father on social media and accused him of "lying" about his past on the campaign trail.

“Every family member of Herschel Walker asked him not to run for office, because we all knew (some of) his past. Every single one,” Christian Walker tweeted. “He decided to give us the middle finger and air out all of his dirty laundry in public, while simultaneously lying about it. I'm done."

Atlanta-based conservative radio host Erick Erickson shared that GOP sources he's in touch with are despairing over the latest attacks on Walker, which he said might be a "KO" in the Senate race.

“I'd largely thought Walker could pull this off despite his baggage. I'll see what sort of response he mounts, but given text messages tonight, Georgia GOP'ers are praying for Dr. Oz to win. Walker hasn't mounted a good response to any attack, and this is brutal, probably a KO.”
— Erick Erickson (@Erick Erickson) 1664846890

The election in Georgia will be pivotal in determining which party controls the Senate next year. Warnock, a Democrat representing a typically Republican southern state, was viewed as a vulnerable candidate and his seat a good pick-up opportunity for the GOP. But the latest allegations against Walker may turn off enough pro-life Republicans to give Warnock the edge he needed to win reelection.

Herschel Walker calls out race-baiting Democrats in ad calling America a 'great country full of generous people'

Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker released an ad Wednesday accusing the Democratic Party of using racial issues to divide Americans.

The 30-second ad quotes Democratic politicians including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), contrasting their statements that America is racist with Walker's belief that America is a "great country full of generous people."

“🚨🚨🚨 new @HerschelWalker TV ad!

"Raphael Warnock believes that America is a bad country full of racist people, I believe that we're a great country full of generous people.” #gapol”
— Mallory Blount (@Mallory Blount) 1662550529

"Democrats use race to divide us," the ad begins. It then shows a highlight reel of Democratic Party figures making various comments about race in America.

Abrams is quoted criticizing the Georgia election reforms supported by Republicans as "racist" legislation that is "a redux of Jim Crow in a suit and tie."

Harris is quoted saying, "America has a long history of systemic racism." The quote is taken from remarks she gave after police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd.

It also refers to Joe Biden's widely criticized comment from 2020 in which he told Charlamagne tha God, "if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black."

Finally, it quote's Walker's opponent Raphael Warnock saying, "America has a preexisting condition. It's called racism."

Then Walker addresses viewers directly with a simple message: "Senator Warnock believes America is a bad country, full of racist people. I believe we're a great country, full of generous people."

"Warnock wants to divide us. I want to bring us together," Walker says.

The ad comes as horse race polls show a tight contest between Walker and Warnock, who won a Senate seat in a special election in 2020. A recent poll from Emerson College has the Republican candidate leading the Democratic Senator 46%-44%, a much closer race than in April when Warnock led Walker 49%-45%. The Senate election is rated a "toss-up" by the Cook Political Report.

With the midterm election just two months away, Warnock has attacked Walker for appearing hesitant to debate him. The Democrat released an ad earlier this week calling for Walker to "quit the games" and "agree to debates."

There's A Catch - Warnock for Georgia youtu.be

Walker responded on Wednesday, offering to have a "fair debate" in Savannah on Oct. 14.

" I don’t care what the topics are. It’s a fair debate. Open to the public. Televised statewide. And it’s not run by your donors. You in? Let’s do this for the people," Walker tweeted.

“Let’s lock down Savannah Oct 14th, Senator. I don’t care what the topics are. It’s a fair debate. Open to the public. Televised statewide. And it’s not run by your donors. You in? Let’s do this for the people.”
— Herschel Walker (@Herschel Walker) 1662552993

But the Warnock campaign has said Walker must agree to a second debate next month before Warnock will meet Walker in Savannah, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“It’s time for Herschel Walker to stop playing games,” Warnock campaign manager Quentin Fulks said. “The job of a U.S. senator isn’t one where you know the topics ahead of time or get a cheat sheet, and Herschel Walker shouldn’t need one to find the courage to walk on a debate stage.”

A sticking point in the debate negotiations has been whether the candidates will receive the topics in advance and whether there will be a live audience. Walker prefers to have the topics in advance and doesn't want an audience.

Both candidates have been invited to participate in at least three debates hosted by WTOC in Savannah, Mercer University in Macon and the Atlanta Press Club. Warnock has agreed to appear in all three but Walker only accepted an invitation to a fourth debate hosted by WSAV in Savannah on Oct. 14.

Warnock will face Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver at the Mercer University debate on Oct. 13 and the Atlanta Press Club debate on Oct. 16. Both events will move forward with or without Walker.

Walker, a former University of Georgia running back and NFL star, skipped the GOP debates in the primary campaign, saying at the time he wanted to focus on defeating Warnock in the general.

MSNBC guest: Republicans love 'negroes' like Herschel Walker who 'do what they're told'

On Saturday, the Nation contributor Elie Mystal asserted on MSNBC’s "The Cross Connection" with Tiffany Cross that Georgia's Republican candidate for Senate Herschel Walker was “unintelligent” and bereft of “independent thoughts.” The self-professed justice correspondent then proceeded to accuse Republicans of backing Walker because he “is going to do what he’s told ... That’s what Republicans want from their negroes: to do what they’re told.”

Elie Mystal has repeatedly and publicly denigrated Herschel Walker’s intelligence and made wild racially-charged accusations as a means to support Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock's bid to stay in power.

Some have taken to Twitter to point out the apparent double-standard when it comes to racially-charged language on the left and the absence of consequence for Democrat-adjacent racial hatred.

“If a Republican pundit had said on Fox what was said of @HerschelWalker on Fox, major news outlets would be shoving microphones in Raphael Warnock's face demanding he denounce it.”
— Erick Erickson (@Erick Erickson) 1659380055

Radio show host Erick Erickson suggested that comparable language uttered by a Republican would have prompted calls for denunciation.

Florida Rep. Byron Donalds called out Mystal, saying: "If you are a Black Republican, they will...question your Blackness, and insult your intelligence."

“If you are a Black Republican, they will call you a coon, sell out, question your Blackness, and insult your intelligence.

It's easy for people like @ElieNYC to talk "tough" without any push back from one of the "Republicans' negros." @TiffanyDCross invite me on, let's talk.”
— Byron Donalds (@Byron Donalds) 1659367327

Javon A. Price regards Mystal's comments on MSNBC as more evidence of the racist mindset possessed by the left.

“Calling Black men “negroes” is apparently okay if you’re speaking about Black conservatives.

From Herschel Walker to Justice Thomas, the Left’s bigotry & racism seems to always reveal itself when Black folks start to question/challenge the Democrat’s narrative”
— Javon A. Price 🇺🇸 (@Javon A. Price 🇺🇸) 1659368091

Race, a leftist obsession

Seizing upon the resultant uproar, Mystal doubled down on Twitter, suggesting Walker's only qualification is his race. Walker's race is, for the Nation contributor, something of an obsession.

In April, the Nation published an article written by Mystal entitled “The Herschel Walker Senate Campaign is an Insult to Black People,” wherein Mystal called Walker “an animated caricature of a Black person drawn by white conservatives.” He suggested that his campaign was a “political minstrel show.” In the same piece, he simultaneously argued that Georgia Republicans don’t support black candidates yet excitedly support Herschel. He concluded by demanding that black Americans vote as a racial bloc against Walker. Failing to do so, says Mystal, would render them "clapping seals."

Herschel hits back with kindness and prayer

Herschel took to Twitter on August 1 to hit back. In a video response, he said, “Shame on MSNBC and shame on him...I’m going to pray for both of them, because they need Jesus.”

“My response to @MSNBC and the man who called me the N word.

@ReverendWarnock and the left wing crazies believe America is a fundamentally bad country full of racist people. But you and I know this is a great country, full of good people. #gasen”
— Herschel Walker (@Herschel Walker) 1659377897

Walker noted further that Mystal's screed reminded him of the stark differences between the "leftwing crazies" in the Warnock camp and himself. The former "want to divide us, turn us against each other."

Notwithstanding the MSNBC guest's racial framing, Walker underlined how America is a "good country full of good people."

'I think the court has crossed the rubicon': Sen. Chris Murphy sounds alarm over photo of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas with US Senate candidate Herschel Walker

Remarking on a photo of Herschel Walker and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones of New York asked whether Thomas will recuse himself from any cases that emerge from the Peach State's 2022 Senate election contest. And Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut pushed for the passage of the "Supreme Court Ethics Act."

Walker, a former NFL player, is running to serve as a U.S. senator from Georgia and has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Walker will be competing in the Republican primary next month. Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who entered office in early 2021 after winning a special election runoff, is seeking election to a full six-year term.

"Herschel got to spend time with Justice Thomas while in DC to receive the Horatio Alger Award this week," Walker's communications director Mallory Blount tweeted, along with a photo of Walker with Thomas.

"Will Justice Thomas now recuse himself from matters arising under this year’s Senate election in Georgia?" Rep. Jones tweeted in response to the photo.

Sen. Murphy called for the passage of the "Supreme Court Ethics Act," legislation which calls for the establishment of a code of conduct for justices and judges. Murphy introduced the bill with Democratic Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia.

"A conservative Supreme Court justice doing a photo op with a Republican candidate in a competitive primary. I think the court has crossed the rubicon. We need to pass the Supreme Court Ethics Act," Murphy tweeted.

Walker tweeted a photo of himself with Thomas and another individual — the tweet included the comment, "Great to be with an incredible Supreme Court Justice and an even better man, Clarence Thomas. Justice Thomas is a strict Constitutionalist who has dedicated his life to law and order."

Thomas was nominated by George H. W. Bush and has served on the high court since 1991. The 73-year-old, who is currently the second oldest member of the Supreme Court, will be the oldest member once Justice Stephen Breyer retires later this year.

Last month, Thomas was hospitalized "after experiencing flu-like symptoms," according to a Supreme Court press release. Thomas was later released after his hospital stay.

CNN's Van Jones attacked by liberals for saying Trump 'has done good stuff for the black community' and 'does not get enough credit'

CNN commentator Van Jones applauded President Donald Trump for the work he has done for the black community. Liberals immediately turned on Jones, lashing out at the progressive pundit for giving Trump even the slightest acknowledgment that the president has attempted to help black Americans.

On Friday night, Jones appeared on CNN with host Jake Tapper. The panel was discussing the final presidential debate, specifically Trump's comment that he's "done more for the black community than any other president."

"Donald Trump — and I get beat up by liberals every time I say this, but I'm gonna keep saying it — he has done good stuff for the black community," Jones said on CNN. "Opportunity zone stuff, black college stuff. I worked with him on criminal justice stuff. I saw Donald Trump have African American people, formerly incarcerated, in the White House — embraced them, treated them well. There's a side to Donald Trump that I think he does not get enough credit for."

Former NFL Hall of Famer and Trump ally Herschel Walker posted the video clip with the caption: "Because @VanJones68 speaks the truth on @realDonaldTrump people get upset. The American people deserve the truth from the MSM!"

Despite Jones being extremely critical of Trump for years on nearly every single subject, leftists were enraged that he gave Trump credit. The praise of Trump was swiftly met with condemnation of Jones, a former Obama White House adviser.

"Jeeesus why is Van Jones still talking about anything? What an embarrassment. @VanJones68," an online commenter wrote.

"Every time I think Van Jones has turned a corner, he disappoints," another Twitter user said.

"Yeah. Stop listening to Van Jones," another person opined.

"Van Jones is a SELL OUT, yeah I said it," one person declared.

"Van Jones is a Trumper. At the end of the day, that's who he is," a commenter alleged.

Besides Jones, 50 Cent was also recently lambasted for showing support for Trump. The rapper's ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Handler, blasted 50 Cent for saying he would vote for Trump because he was terrified of the high taxes he might have to pay if Joe Biden is elected.

"I had to remind him that he was a Black person, so he can't vote for Donald Trump," Handler told late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon. Many considered the comedian's comments to be "racist."

Jones' praise of Trump arrives only days after hip-hop radio host Charlamagne Tha God admitted that the president is making a real effort to court young black male voters.

"When it comes to the black people you see showing support for Trump, I just think, you know, it's because Trump is actually talking to young black male voters. He is directing ads toward them," said Charlamagne Tha God, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey.

Herschel Walker shreds celebrities, athletes saying black people are oppressed: 'I'm here to tell you, you're not'

Former NFL Hall of Famer Herschel Walker on Tuesday blasted celebrities who claim that black people in the United States are oppressed.

What are the details?

In a widely viewed video, the 58-year-old athlete and former Olympian insisted that blacks in the United States are not oppressed as some entertainers would like people to think.

He also advocated for President Donald Trump and encouraged Americans to vote for the incumbent president in the upcoming general election.

"I started thinking this poor black kid from South Georgia got a chance to represent the United States of America," he said, referring to his time in the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Walker, a onetime Olympic bobsledder, added, "I've been hearing a lot from people saying, 'We're oppressed.' Well, I'm here to tell you, you're not."

"[To] all the entertainers, all the athletes out there that are telling these people 'We African-Americans are oppressed,' well, we're not," he said. "We can do whatever we want to do. Being at the Olympics, I saw so many other countries had envy of the United States of America."

Walker continued, "We're the greatest country in the world, so remember when you go into that voting booth, remember the American way. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, so many freedoms that we have."

He closed the video, "Vote for Donald Trump. Vote for a Republican. Because I'm telling you, let's not throw our country away. Let's vote for those freedoms we have in the United States of America."

Walker made the remarks in a video shared on Twitter, which he captioned, "We're not oppressed we're BLESSED in the USA! The American Dream is the envy of all other countries ... vote to keep our Freedom[.]"

WATCH: Football hero Herschel Walker slams BLM as anti-American, anti-Christian organization

Storied sports legend Herschel Walker has just released another video in which he delivers a scathing criticism of professional sports these days for their involvement with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Herschel Walker shreds BLM, calls out NFL owners, players who support 'trained Marxists': BLM is 'anti-government, anti-American, anti-Christian'

In a now-viral video, former NFL star Herschel Walker blasted the Black Lives Matter movement as "anti-government, anti-American, anti-Christian," and "anti-everything."

Walker, in his heated remarks, also challenged NFL leaders to speak up about whether they will support what he says is a Marxist movement.

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said during a 2105 interview that she and a co-founder were "trained Marxists." The interview recently resurfaced online and has caused some controversy.

What are the details?

In the video, Walker demanded that Black Lives Matters demonstrators who support the ideology come out and tell the American people "this is exactly who you stand for" in supporting Black Lives Matter.

Walker shared the video on Wednesday, captioning it, "I have finally WOKE UP...I am shaking you America! As Maya said, when someone tells you who they are, believe them."

In the video, Walker said, "First I want to apologize to the American people, because I was blind, but now I can see. I was deaf, but now I can hear. The other day, I was listening to one of the founders of Black Lives Matter, and I heard her say that they are 'trained Marxists.'"

During the 2015 interview, Cullors outright admitted, "Myself and [co-founder] Alicia [Garza] in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories."

The Heisman Trophy winner continued his remarks, insisting that he was calling on all people and organizations — including the NFL and its players — to speak up about whether they will support an organization whose leaders referred to themselves as "trained Marxists."

"I'm challenging every owner in the NFL, every owner of major league sports, every owner of stadiums, every commissioner, every leader in Washington, every church," he said. "I'm challenging every professional player: Is this who you're supporting? Because a trained Marxist tells you that they're anti-government, they're anti-American, they're anti-Christian, they're anti-everything."

He continued, "I see all these signs, I see all these logos, I see all these commercials, I see all this stuff, and it's OK, 'cause we're in America. You can support who you want and do what you want, but I need to know, and the American people need to know, that when you talk about supporting BLM — are you supporting the group that says they are trained Marxists? Because they're making a lot of money, and I like to know."

At the time of this reporting, the video has been viewed more than 131,000 times and liked 17,000 times.
