Illegal alien arrested for allegedly raping 11-year-old Utah girl as ICE reveals staggering number of sex offender arrests
An illegal alien from Guatemala was arrested in Utah and charged with raping an 11-year-old girl, according to reports.
Jonathan Estuardo Ruano Garcia, 26, was arrested early on Monday morning by Provo Police.
Ruano Garcia was hit with felony charges of rape of a child, enticing a minor, and forgery.
The forgery charge stemmed from Ruano Garcia reportedly possessing a Social Security card in his wallet at the time of being booked into the Utah County Jail that authorities said "did not appear to be authentic."
"When asked about the Social Security card, Ruano Garcia admitted that it was fake and that he paid money for it when he came to the United States," police said.
Around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, a mother returned to her apartment in Provo, Utah. She reportedly saw an adult male leaving the apartment and made eye contact with the man before he "quickly walked away."
According to arrest documents, the mother found her 11-year-old daughter completely naked in the hallway.
"The 11-year-old girl told her mother that a male she met on the internet came to the apartment and had sex with her," the police report said, according to KSL.
The Guatemalan national allegedly told police that he had sex with the girl for 20 to 30 minutes.
Ruano Garcia claimed to have believed that the girl was 13 or 14 years of age.
The illegal immigrant reportedly met the victim at a soccer game and continued communicating with the minor on social media, the Lehi Free Press reported.
"Ruano Garcia admitted that the chats he had with the victim turned sexual and he sent naked photos of his penis on multiple occasions," the police report stated.
Investigators used the social media interactions to help them quickly track down Ruano Garcia at his home in the nearby town of Lehi.
Ruano Garcia is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail along with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.
ICE recently announced a staggering number of illegal immigrants who were arrested for sex crimes last month.
Between Feb. 5 and 16, 2024, ICE arrested "275 unlawfully present noncitizen sex offenders during a nationwide law enforcement effort."
"ICE is committed to protecting America through the arrest and removal of those who undermine public safety and disregard our laws," said ICE Deputy Director and Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director Patrick J. Lechleitner. "Thanks to the around-the-clock efforts of our Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers, our communities are safe from 275 individuals who have demonstrated their willingness to commit sex crimes against innocent people, including children."
