Conservatives blast DOJ's new center bolstering red flag laws to confiscate firearms from threatening gun owners: 'What the hell is this evil?'

President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice unveiled a new entity that will train state and local officials on procedures to apply red flag laws to confiscate firearms from gun owners who are a threat to themselves or others. Conservatives slammed the new center that intends to bolster red flag laws to confiscate firearms from threatening gun owners.

The Department of Justice announced the creation of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center on Saturday. The new entity will also be called "The Center."

The National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will "provide training and technical assistance to law enforcement officials, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service and social service providers, community organizations, and behavioral health professionals responsible for implementing laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others."

The DOJ said in a statement, "ERPO laws, which are modeled off domestic violence protection orders, create a civil process allowing law enforcement, family members (in most states), and medical professionals or other groups (in some states) to petition a court to temporarily prohibit someone at risk of harming themselves or others from purchasing and possessing firearms for the duration of the order."

The National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center website declared that it will provide training and technical assistance such as:

  • Development and dissemination of trainings for ERPO stakeholders.
  • Support for states and local jurisdictions to implement ERPO programs.
  • Facilitation of peer-to-peer engagement with model ERPO learning sites.
  • Delivery of presentations and webinars to advance states’ and localities’ knowledge on key ERPO topics.

ERPO laws are often called red flag laws and allow the government to confiscate firearms from legal gun owners without due process.

ERPO laws allow law enforcement to search for and seize the firearms of "dangerous individuals." Red flag laws also permit courts to issue temporary orders prohibiting "dangerous" individuals from possessing or acquiring firearms.

The DOJ press release said that 21 states and the District of Columbia have enacted ERPO laws.

The White House noted that only six of the states that implemented ERPO laws have utilized federal funds from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which offers $750 million for "red flag programs, mental health courts, drug courts, and veteran treatment courts."

The National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center is a collaboration between the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, the U.S. Department of Justice, and Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland stated, "The launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others. The establishment of the Center is the latest example of the Justice Department’s work to use every tool provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to protect communities from gun violence."

Acting Associate Attorney General Benjamin C. Mizer added, "Supporting our law enforcement and community partners in curbing the scourge of gun violence is more critical than ever. In addition to other resources leveraged across the Justice Department, this Center will provide communities with new tools and technical assistance to help them implement effective crisis intervention strategies and reduce gun violence.”

Conservatives bashed the Center as a new version of government overreach that attempts to infringe on Second Amendment rights and confiscate guns without due process.

Blaze News investigative reporter Steve Baker: "The long march through our institutions is complete and the neo-Marxist assault on the Bill of Rights is now fully out of the closet. We see the enemy, '…both foreign and DOMESTIC.'"

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.): "What the hell is this evil? A Federal Red Flag center; We did not authorize this. Announced, of course, just hours after the omnibus passes."

GOP Texas State Representative Brian Harrison: "Post-Constitutional America. Unelected bureaucrats now both write and enforce law; by edict. Congress has made itself irrelevant… except to occasionally vote to spend more money we don’t have. Every elected Republican not fighting this is complicit."

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.): "This didn't come through Congress. This Administration will do everything in their power to destroy the Constitution and the God given rights of Americans."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.): "Merrick Garland just announced a massive Red Flag Operation that the DOJ will be running by using EVERY spy tool the US government has in order to violate American’s Second Amendment!! This comes right after Johnson fully funded Biden’s weaponized DOJ!"

Columnist David Harsanyi: "Defending 'democracy' by stripping Americans of their due process and Second Amendment rights using a unilateral federal decree."

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.): "The timing of this is intentional. This is an UNAUTHORIZED attack on our 2nd Amendment."

Libertarian activist Spike Cohen: "This is Federal Red Flag."

Gun rights advocate Dana Loesch: "This won’t apply to Hunter Biden, illegal aliens, or cartel members that Dems fight to arm. This is an attack on due process and ignores existing law that provides a way to adjudicate someone ineligible. All previous tragedies were preventable without removal of due process."

Author J Michael Waller: "They will build a political police by whatever means necessary."

The official account for the Libertarian Party: "We will resist this until the end of time. The right to keep and bear arms is non-negotiable. Your red flag schemes will fail."

TikTokers upset after Gordon Ramsay chooses a lamb for the slaughter

Gordon Ramsay has upset the vegans and a whole lot of other people who are angry on the internet.

The celebrity chef, 55, is facing backlash from some users on TikTok after posting a video where he chooses a live lamb to be slaughtered and prepared for dinner.

In the video, which was posted Thursday, Ramsay climbs into a pen containing about ten spotless little lambs. Grinning furiously and rubbing his hands together, he says, "I'm going to eat you" in sing-song.

"Yummy yum yum," he says. "Which one's going in the oven first?" Then he points at one of the sheep and says: "You."

After that he jumps in the pen, startling the lambs, and stalks towards the one he's chosen.

"Oven time!" he says.

@gordonramsayofficial

The Lamb sauce was still not found in the making of this video…..

The short 28-second video was shared to his 33.3 million followers and has been viewed more than 9 million times. Its caption reads: "The Lamb sauce was still not found in the making of this video." This was a reference to a viral scene from a 2006 episode of "Hell's Kitchen," a TV competition series in which Ramsay yelled at chef contestants demanding, "where is the lamb sauce."

"No animals were cooked in the making of this video," Ramsay added, according to Insider, which first reported the outrage over the chef's video.

While more than 1 million people "liked" the video, several users posted negative comments, expressing horror and outrage over how the animals were treated.

"Those beautiful little babies , what people will do for views. It’s a sad world we live in," one user commented.

"i'm not even vegetarian but this is very sad," another person wrote.

"What a classless, out-of-touch and heartless way to treat another sentient being," said one user wrote in a duet video, reacting to Ramsay's post.

"Nothing like a cruel display of cognitive dissonance. Folks know eat animals, but why scare them and treat them this way on top of it," the caption read.

Another user accused Ramsay of "animal abuse" in a reaction video.

"Do you think that grown men should be teaching children on TikTok that animal abuse is funny," the person commented.

Yet another user called out both Ramsay and the people making jokes about the video in the comments section, NBC News reported.

"Those are babies. Literal babies," the person said in the duet. "This is not normal behavior ... it's not funny. it's not entertaining and if you think animals don't understand us, look how scared they are when he gets in the pen."

Ramsay has become popular on TikTok by posting videos reacting to other people's recipes and rating their culinary creations, as well as his own content. He has neither commented on the outrage nor said how his lamb chops tasted.

Leftist talking heads and celebrities react to Rittenhouse verdict by having a complete meltdown, go all-in on blaming 'white supremacy'

Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted on all counts regarding the fatal shootings during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Leftist talking heads and celebrities suffered complete meltdowns when they learned that Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges.

Many people on the left were furious over the verdict because they subscribed to the unsubstantiated narrative that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist set out for more than a year by the corporate media and Democrats – including President Joe Biden.

Leftists flocked to Twitter with their reactions and hot takes to the jury's decision. Predictably, the left-wing commentators could not accept that Rittenhouse had shot three other white men in self-defense, so instead, they shrieked in unison: "White supremacy."

Quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick: "We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. This only further validates the need to abolish our current system. White supremacy cannot be reformed."

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.): "The judge. The jury. The defendant. It's white supremacy in action. This system isn't built to hold white supremacists accountable. It's why Black and brown folks are brutalized and put in cages while white supremacist murderers walk free. I'm hurt. I'm angry. I'm heartbroken."

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.): "Racism & white supremacy remain the bedrock of our legal system. My heart breaks for the family & loved ones of those whose lives were stolen, and the trauma our communities face today and every day. The struggle for accountability, for justice, for healing goes on."

CNN contributor Keith Boykin: "I knew it. Kyle Rittenhouse is proof that white people can still break the law, carry illegal weapons, shoot and kill people, and get away with it in America by shedding tears and claiming self-defense."

1619 Project's Nikole Hannah-Jones: "In this country, you can even kill white people and get away with it if those white people are fighting for Black lives. This is the legacy of 1619."

Self-proclaimed "race-baiter" Tariq Nasheed: "Killer Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges. I'm not surprised. It's not white privilege. It's called systematic white supremacy. Can anyone name ONE TIME in US history where a Black person drove somewhere with a gun, killed 2 ppl, & it was 'self defense?'"

Musician Skyler Acord: "F***in kyle bitch ass rittenhouse literally got away with murder cuz he was fighting for white supremacy and the american judicial system is built on it. bitch boy little f*** i hate him and his fake ass bitch tears f*** you kyle."

Activist Brittany Packnett Cunningham: "This is why many of us warned a Chauvin verdict was not the symbol of progress some wanted it to be. White supremacy has a set number of acceptable losses. Kyle Rittenhouse, and his Vigilante How-To example, simply was not one of them. They needed his blueprint."

The ACLU of Maryland: "Dangerous, disgusting, unacceptable white supremacy in #RittenhouseVerdict."

Author Stephen King: "So...the white guy goes free. Is that the message?"

Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali: "It's good to be a white murderer."

Actress Rachel Zegler: "kyle rittenhouse being acquitted on all charges after such heinous heinous crimes is the epitome of white privilege and exactly what is wrong with this godforsaken country."

Former "Reading Rainbow" host LeVar Burton: "Tell me again there are not two kinds justice in America!"

Actress Rosanna Arquette: "I have no faith in the justice system In America today I don't want to live in a country that is ruled by violent ignorant racists."

Actor Cary Elwes: "Another disappointing victory for White vigilantism."

Actress Bette Midler: "Kyle Rittenhouse found not guilty tho we SAW HIM kill two. Fundamentally stupid, I predict he will go on to a big career on #Fox and in #RadicalRightWing circles, which counts as a plus with them. A tragic, tragic day for decent, THINKING, feeling, ethical people everywhere."

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace: "Ha, let the boy be black and it would've been life…hell he would've had his life taken before the bullshit trial.. sad."

MSNBC host Joy Reid: "We knew, but it's sometimes helpful to remind ourselves how America was designed to work. It continues to work as designed. We have learned again what is considered legal for *some* people to do in America. It's helpful to know where you stand in your country. Be safe out there."

Former "Star Trek" actor George Takei: "Justice denied is a body blow to our national psyche. On trial was not only a killer, but a system that continues to kill. Today that system defeated true justice, once again. But mark these words: We will never stop fighting for what is right and just."

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D): "Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum are victims. They should be alive today. The only reason they're not is because a violent, dangerous man chose to take a gun across state lines and start shooting people. To call this a miscarriage of justice is an understatement."

Actress Mia Farrow: "So anyone can come to a protest, just march down the middle of the street with a massive gun - and kill people?"

Actor Josh Gad: "It has now been put it out there that vigilantes can just go and kill people protesting issues like racial equality whenever they want and get away with it. Think about that for a second."

Former swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker: "What a disaster. The precedent is terrifying. The injustice is hard to stomach."

Actress Ellen Barkin: "Kyle Rittenhouse walks free as we are all taken prisoner by our now openly authoritarian state."

'Mystified' NYT columnist asks the internet why southern states have such low rates of COVID-19. Twitter users happily enlighten him.

Since mid-September, COVID-19 cases have been plummeting in southern states. As of Nov. 2, the South had 13 coronavirus cases per 150,000 — the fewest by region in the nation — compared to 21 cases in the Northeast, 27 in the West, and 31 in the Midwest, according to the New York Times.

Hospitalizations in the South have also dropped significantly in recent weeks. The top 10 states that have experienced decreases in COVID-19 hospitalizations are all in the South. There are 12 hospitalizations per 100,000 people in South Carolina — a 38% decrease in the past 14 days, according to Becker's Hospital Review. Hospitalizations in North Carolina are down 36%, Louisiana fell 36%, Tennessee has seen a 34% drop, Kentucky has plunged 32%, Florida also witnessed a 32% decrease, hospitalization in the past two weeks is 30% less in Texas, Mississippi declined 30%, as did Alabama, and hospitalizations tailed off by 28% in Georgia.

Meanwhile, hospitalizations per 100,000 people in the last 14 days are up in New Mexico (19%), Vermont (15%), Colorado (14%), Nebraska (11%), Arizona (9%), New Hampshire (9%), Utah (8%), Maine (7%), California (6%), and Michigan (4%).

The southern states have seen COVID-19 cases fall despite easing COVID-19 restrictions.

The shift in COVID-19 cases out of the South baffled New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow — who couldn't fathom why cases were plummeting despite the southern states not stringently adhering to guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"I am mystified by how these southern states have such low rates of Covid when many of their governors haven't followed cdc guidance," Blow wrote on Twitter and included a COVID-19 "hot spot" map from the New York Times. "Someone please explain this to me."

— Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) 1636026867

The internet was happy to oblige and explain the shift to Blow. A wave of respondents gave their explanations for the decreasing COVID-19 cases in the South — which included seasonality.

Inez Stepman — senior policy analyst at the Independent Women's Forum — responded, "Hint: in southern states they go inside with AC in the summer (high rates), in northern states, they go inside when it gets cold (high rates). Haven't we seen this play out enough times in the last nearly two years not to be surprised by it?"

Human Events journalist Will Chamberlain made a similar point, "Hint: it's pleasant outside in the South right now, so people aren't spending as much time indoors running the AC Meanwhile, it's getting colder everywhere else, so people are spending more time indoors there."

Investigative reporter Jordan Schachtel wrote, "NYT columnist on the brink of discovering seasonal respiratory illness. Prediction: He won't accept the obvious. Too big a red pill for him. Best to embrace the COVID Mania stuff. Better to keep the readers hoaxed and compliant."

New York Times best-selling author Tom Woods asked, "So you won't admit that the mitigation measures don't do a damn thing, which should be excruciatingly obvious by now? You can't ever give up on that religion?"

Senior fellow at the Atlantic Council Damir Marusic explained, "Once you accept that policy only has marginal effect on outcomes, everything becomes much easier to digest. The COVID surge just does its thing, burning through vulnerable populations until the kindling is gone. It then moves on."

Radio host Jesse Kelly reacted by tweeting, "Because everything you 'know' about coronavirus is a lie. The 'experts' had no idea what to do when it got here so they just made a bunch of stuff up and pretended it was 'science.' Your entire world is make believe. How does that make you feel?"

Outkick founder and radio host Clay Travis commented, "The number of blue checks who still think lockdowns & masks stop covid is absolutely staggering. This is a @nytimes columnist. These blue checks have never bothered to look at the actual data. They are covid sheep."

Podcast host Benny Johnson said, "The defiant smoothbrain bubble people will never fully understand the extent to which they have been manipulated for power and control of an establishment ruling class."

Bette Midler proposes sex strike to fight Texas abortion law, but it gets torn to shreds by the left and right

Bette Midler is calling for women to refuse to have sex as a method to protest the newly enacted abortion law in Texas. The proposed sex boycott by the Hollywood actress sparked a whirlwind of reactions on the internet, some of which tore apart her argument.

The new law, which prohibits abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected or as early as six weeks into pregnancy, went into effect on Wednesday. The new law, which was signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in May, allows private citizens to sue abortion providers and those seeking abortions after the deadline. The Supreme Court voted 5-4 not to take any action on the new law.

The "Hocus Pocus" star first lashed out at Republicans for passing S.B. 8.

"The cruelty of the #GOP is endless," Midler wrote on Thursday. "We are suffering COVID-19, hurricanes, apocalyptic flooding, wildfires from hell, joblessness, homelessness, evictions, racial strife, and they pick this hideous time to pile on yet another shock to women, by taking away their right to choose."

Then Midler advised women to engage in a sex strike to protest the pro-life law in Texas.

"I suggest that all women refuse to have sex with men until they are guaranteed the right to choose by Congress," Midler tweeted.

Several of Midler's celebrity friends supported her idea of a sex strike, including actress Jane Lynch, who said, "Lysistrata for modern times," a reference to the Greek comedy produced by Aristophanes in 411 BCE, where the women of Athens and Sparta made a pact not to have sex with their partners until they ended the Peloponnesian War.

Nancy Sinatra, daughter of Frank Sinatra, replied, "My dad actually suggested that decades ago."

Rosanna Arquette, who was lampooned on Twitter for claiming that she quit a movie because it was being filmed in Texas, told Midler, "But then again men with angry Guns and rape not being a much of a crime in Texas. Watch this space."

However, others poked holes in Midler's proposed sex strike.

Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler said, "If all women who would abort their babies refused to have sex if they weren't willing to take the responsibility of a baby… That's literally how it's supposed to work."

Libertarian podcast host Eric July asked, "Serious question, Bette… Does the 'right to choose' include vaccinations?"

Conservative writer Matt Walsh quipped, "Pro-abortion women are repulsive so this really isn't the threat you think it is."

Radio host Jesse Kelly jeered, "Oh no. Please, anything but that. I'm not sure I can live in a world where....Bette Midler won't put out for me."

A Twitter user replied, "I can't believe women like Bette really think abstinence is a threat to anyone pro-life. lol Oh no! You won't have sex! Whatever will we do?!"

British rapper Zuby retorted with a lengthy response, "Liberal women in the West are so enthusiastic about having the option to kill their unborn children... It freaks me out. They speak as if there are NO other options and then talk about 'autonomy'. Men, control your willies. Women, control your fannies. It's not that hard. Sex is a two way street and we all know how babies are made. Men and women both need to take responsibility for their actions. We are adults. Can't simultaneously play the 'empowered' card and the 'helpless victim' card. These conversations are so tiring and disingenuous all the time. I wish people could just be honest, logical, and take some personal responsibility. It's always word games, emotional manipulation, false equivalences, and mental gymnastics. It's exhausting."

Midler was attacked by women on the left who were incensed that the singer only saw women as sex objects.

Imani Gandy angrily replied, "What is a sex strike going to do besides reinforce patriarchal notions that women have sex only to please men?"

Andi Zeisler said, "Do we really have to explain for the millionth time why this is absolutely, profoundly, exhaustingly not it."

Another commenter wrote, "I love Bette Middler's work but I'm tired of this dusty 2nd wave 'feminist' take. It implies women's only power is our value as sex objects to men."

Rescue dogs shot dead in Australia by council due to coronavirus restrictions sparks outrage: 'Deranged COVID insanity'

A local government in Australia shot and killed rescue dogs because they feared that COVID-19 would spread if people traveled to the shelter to pick them up. The killing of the animals has ignited outrage, and many commenters believe Australia is suffering from coronavirus "hysteria."

The governing body in the Orana region of New South Wales declared that several rescued dogs at a shelter were a health hazard, so the council had the animals shot to death.

The Bourke Shire Council "killed the dogs to prevent volunteers at a Cobar-based animal shelter from traveling to pick up the animals last week, according to the council's watchdog," the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

According to the NSW Health website, there were no recent coronavirus cases in the town of Cobar, but there were fragments of COVID-19 detected in the area's sewage treatment plant.

A spokesperson for the Office of Local Government, which holds the local government sector in Australia accountable for its actions, said, "OLG has been informed that the council decided to take this course of action to protect its employees and community, including vulnerable Aboriginal populations, from the risk of COVID-19 transmission."

"Councils are also encouraged to continue to work with re-homing organizations and volunteers to care for animals, where that can be undertaken consistent with NSW Health advice," the spokesman said.

A source familiar with the animal shelter said the establishment had safe COVID-19 measures in place to handle the dogs during the pandemic.

Lisa Ryan, the coordinator of regional campaigns for the Animal Liberation human rights organization, demanded an investigation, "We are deeply distressed and completely appalled by this callous dog shooting and we totally reject council's unacceptable justifications that this killing was apparently undertaken as part of a COVID- safe plan."

The Sydney Morning Herald contacted the Bourke Shire Council for comment, but reportedly received no response.

The story from Australia quickly spread on social media, sparking outrage and shock.

  • Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald: "Australia is absolutely consumed by deranged COVID insanity. Now they're shooting and killing rescued dogs to prevent shelter volunteers from leaving their homes to go pick them up and care for them. Many Australians seem grateful to be locked down."
  • Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York: "Australia seems to have gone completely insane over Covid."
  • British broadcaster Piers Morgan: "Sorry, WHAT????!!!"
  • The Heritage Foundation social media manager Lyndsey Fifield: "It would be horrific enough if they'd euthanized them by injection but they SHOT DOGS ARE YOU KIDDING ME."
  • British journalist Neil Clark: "What a terrible place Australia is at the moment. A police-state 'public health' dictatorship."
  • PJ Media writer Stacey Lennox: "This is just deranged. Australia is at peak mass hysteria and their leaders are fully demented at this point."
  • British journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy: "The extent to which Australia has turned a COVID advantage into massive, bizarre and tragic mess is astonishing : Rescue dogs shot dead by NSW council due to COVID-19 restrictions."
  • We Are Change writer Luke Rudkowski: "Evil knows no bounds when government and police officers get to do whatever they want!"
  • Foundation for Economic Education content manager Hannah Cox: "Australia had lost its ever-loving mind."
  • Journalist Ian Miles Cheong: "Between shooting rescue dogs dead, slamming peacefully protesting elderly women onto the curb, firing into crowds with rubber bullets and tear gas, and putting out arrest warrants for people with COVID who go outside, Australia has absolutely lost the plot. Dystopian hell state."

There were massive protests against COVID-19 lockdowns in several cities across Australia on Saturday. In Melbourne, the protests became violent at times as anti-lockdown protesters clashed with police. Over 200 were arrested, huge fines were levied, and six police officers were hospitalized during the demonstrations.

Republicans blast Biden for 'unmitigated disaster of epic proportions' in Afghanistan: 'Why is Joe Biden in hiding?'

The Taliban overtook Afghanistan with relative ease and lightning quickness. Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani fled to Tajikistan, and American personnel was forced to evacuate the U.S. embassy in Kabul on helicopters. The presidential palace in Kabul was "handed over" to the Taliban on Sunday. Republican lawmakers are hammering President Joe Biden and his administration on the U.S. withdrawal, which has been labeled as "an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions" and compared to the capture of Saigon.

Biden, who is at Camp David on a scheduled vacation, issued a statement on the dire situation in Afghanistan on Saturday, where he placed blame on his predecessor for the much-maligned withdrawal. Former President Donald Trump responded to Biden's accusations by saying the current president "gets it wrong every time on foreign policy."

It wasn't only Trump who slammed Biden and his administration for the disheveled withdrawal from Afghanistan; several Republican lawmakers also torched the president.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.): "Joe Biden has been commander-in-chief for seven months – the current failure in Afghanistan falls squarely on his shoulders. His lack of leadership during this pivotal moment has been shameful – it has only served to embolden our adversaries and let down our allies."

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.): "Ashraf Ghani has fled and Joe Biden is hiding. Pathetic. Why is Joe Biden in hiding? He should immediately address the nation and answer for the catastrophic situation in Afghanistan. Conference calls between cabinet secretaries and senators don't cut it in a crisis."

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio): "America's in crisis. Afghanistan's in chaos. Why's Joe Biden on vacation?"

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas): "This is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions. This will be a stain on Biden's presidency and he will have blood on his hands."

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.): "This is Joe Biden's Saigon. A disastrous failure on the international stage that will never be forgotten - meanwhile Joe is on vacation."

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.): "No person who calls themselves the President of the United States should be on vacation while the world crumbles down around them. The dereliction of duty continues."

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: "No wonder he is hiding at Camp David. No teleprompter can give him the answers to the questions he would be asked today. What a disaster."

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.): "When the Biden Administration announced their Afghanistan pullout plan, several of us on the Intel Committee told them their predictions of what would happen next were complete fantasy. We are now witnessing how true our warnings to them were."

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.): "It is only a matter of time until al-Qaeda reemerges in Afghanistan and presents a threat to the American homeland and western world. President Biden seems oblivious to the terrorist threats that will come from a Taliban-run Afghanistan."

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.): "The Biden Administration's botched exit from Afghanistan including the frantic evacuation of Americans and vulnerable Afghans from Kabul is a shameful failure of American leadership. The United States had the capacity to avoid this disaster."

— Leader McConnell (@LeaderMcConnell) 1629052471.0

Two House Democrats even torpedoed Biden's handling of the withdrawal, as reported by Fox News.

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas): "There's no way to hide it. The situation in Afghanistan is another shame on this admin. Withdrawal was never going to be easy but it didn't need to come to this. The US must do everything in its power to help our partners & allies to safety & protect our national security."

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.): "As a Gold Star son of the Vietnam War listening to the White House briefing on the Afghanistan War withdrawal, my heart particularly aches for the thousands of Gold Star families of an eerily similar and painful episode forty-six years later."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to spin the U.S. withdrawal out of Afghanistan by saying, "The President is to be commended for the clarity of purpose of his statement on Afghanistan and his action. The Taliban must know the world is watching its actions. We are concerned about reports regarding the Taliban's brutal treatment of all Afghans, especially women and girls."

The official Twitter account for the White House tweeted on Sunday, "This morning, the President and Vice President met with their national security team and senior officials to hear updates on the draw down of our civilian personnel in Afghanistan, evacuations of SIV applicants and other Afghan allies, and the ongoing security situation in Kabul."

Internet reactions to photos of Obama's supposed 'scaled back' birthday bash boasting massive tents for celebrities: 'Do you feel like a peasant yet?'

Former President Barack Obama is throwing a huge birthday party for himself at his opulent $12 million waterfront mansion on Martha's Vineyard on Saturday. The birthday bash was originally supposed to include nearly 500 guests and more than 200 staff, but the celebration was "significantly scaled back" to include "only family and close friends" due to criticism over holding a social gathering of that size during a surge in COVID-19 infections.

However, photos emerged of massive tents constructed specifically for the birthday party on Obama's 29-acre estate. There were also images of celebrities arriving at Martha's Vineyard to attend the festivities. The internet was quick to point out that the preparations for the party looked anything other than "scaled back."

Several celebrities were reportedly invited and then uninvited, including late-night talk show hosts David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actor Larry David, and David Axelrod, chief strategist for Obama's presidential campaigns, according to the New York Times.

The celebrities who did make the cut include Beyonce, Jay-Z, Eddie Vedder, Tom Hanks, and musician Questlove, who reportedly coordinated a meat-free menu for the party. "Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay had pulled out of the party earlier because of concerns over the Delta variant," the Times reported. Steven Spielberg, Bruce Springsteen, and George Clooney were reportedly on the original guest list, according to the New York Post. There were no reports of Obama's "bro" and former vice president Joe Biden attending the birthday party.

The New York Times added that the attendees of the party would be a "mostly vaccinated crowd," but "all of whom had to submit negative tests to gain entry to the property."

The party had been planned for months, and "the former president had baseball caps made for the occasion that read '44 at 60.'"

The Daily Mail released photos of massive tents on the Obamas' grandiose grounds. The outlet also published photos of celebrities arriving at the wealthy Massachusetts enclave for Obama's 60th birthday party, including Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Dwayne Wade, Gabriel Union, Don Cheadle, and Stephen Colbert. Biden's climate czar, John Kerry, was seen in photos taking a private jet to Martha's Vineyard.

The internet reactions to Obama's swanky and seemingly over-the-top birthday party complete with circus-like tents were delivered fast and furious.

  • "Do what we say, not what we do."
  • "The hypocrisy is the point."
  • "These are the people calling you selfish if you don't want to close your small business."
  • "Do you feel like a peasant yet?"
  • "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."

Rep. Cori Bush blasted for saying she'll pay $200K for private security while at the same time demanding, 'Defunding the police has to happen'

Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) was branded a "hypocrite" after she talked about spending $200,000 for her own private security, but only seconds later the progressive congresswoman demanded that "defunding the police has to happen."

During a CBS News interview Wednesday, Bush was asked about a report that found the Democratic lawmaker spent nearly $70,000 on private security over the past three months, despite also being an ardent supporter of the defund the police movement.

CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers asked Bush about paying for personal security while at the same time demanding the police be defunded.

An inflamed Bush responded, "You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see? You wanna see me die? Because that could be the alternative."

Bush ranted, "So, either I spend $70,000 on private security over the last few months and I'm here standing now and able to speak, able to help save 11 million people from being evicted or I could possibly have a death attempt on my life.

"I have private security because my body is worth being on this planet right now," Bush fumed. "I have private security because they, the white supremacist, racist narrative that they drive into this country, the fact that they don't care that this black woman that has put her life on the line, they can't match my energy, first of all, this black woman who puts her life on the line, they don't care that I could be taken out of here."

"I'm going to make sure I have security because I know I have had attempts on my life," said the congresswoman. "I'm going to make sure I have security because I now have had attempts on my life and I have too much work to do, there are too many people that need help right now for me to allow that."

"So, if I end up spending $200,000, if I spend $10 more dollars on it — you know what, I get to be here to do the work. So suck it up."

In the very next sentence, Bush demanded that police be defunded.

"Defunding the police has to happen," she said. "We need to defund the police and put that money into social safety nets because we're trying to save lives."

Bush continued on with her diatribe, claiming that she received death threats from racists and police officers. When asked by Duthiers if police officers threatened her life as a member of Congress, she responded, "I mean — and there are still people, and you know what, the thing is, they can threaten my life, and I'm still working for them."

Bush's comments about having her own personal security while also calling for the police to be defunded for her constituents were blasted on social media.

  • Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.): "Best demonstration of capitalism by a socialist ever. Wants to defund the police. Spare me. How many more police officers had to tend to you over the course of your tailgate?"
  • Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas): "'Defunding the police needs to happen.' Pay attention America, this extremism has become more and more mainstream on the left. Keep giving them power, and they'll keep getting more radical."
  • Rep. Elise Stefanik ( R-N.Y.): "Police for me, but none for thee! Dems hypocrisy knows no bounds."
  • Rep Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.): "Translate: My safety is more important than yours."
  • Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley: "In just 30 seconds, Rep. @CoriBush says she'll spend hundreds of thousands on personal security and also calls to defund the police. These Democrats care about their own safety, but not yours."
  • Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens: "Security for me but not for thee. Democrats want to defund your police then turn around & spend your tax dollars for private security. Democrats close businesses & schools, mandate anti-science mask wearing for us but not themselves. The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds."
  • Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald: "I think Cori Bush -- and anyone else in public life who faces legitimate threats -- deserves whatever security they need. That's why it's so bizarre to hear her, seconds after demanding it, demand defunding of the police for ordinary citizens who want the police there also."
  • Vox senior correspondent German Lopez: "This is something that's very obvious to me, as someone who lived in Venezuela: When you defund (or underfund) the police, what ends up happening is only rich people have cops because they hire a private army."
  • Progressive journalist Matthew Yglesias: "You see it in the Cori Bush clip but there's just a deep, un-acknowledged affinity between 'defund police' and the general idea of privatizing public services."

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) asked, "Why doesn't she just call a social worker for security?"

The question is a reference to a $10 billion bill that Bush introduced in June to establish a new public safety agency that would report to the Department of Health and Human Services, and feature a federal first responders unit that would "provide crisis assistance in lieu of federal law enforcement." The People's Response Act would send social workers, mental health counselors, and substance use counselors to certain emergency situations instead of police officers.

Bush's fellow Democratic congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also spends tens of thousands of dollars on private security while calling to defund the police.

'Sickening': Viral video shows boy ripping American flag from yard, flinging it to the ground as mom watches

A video of a young boy ripping an American flag out of someone's yard and then flinging it to the ground as his mother watches has ignited a firestorm of strong reactions on the internet.

Writer Marie Oakes shared the controversial video on Twitter with the caption: "Children are being raised to desecrate the flag." The purported security camera footage shows a child riding on a scooter along with an adult female, likely to be his mother. While traveling down the sidewalk on his scooter, the boy attempts to rip up a small American flag standing in a yard. He misses on the first attempt to uproot the flag, but comes back to tear up the flag. He then throws the flag onto the ground.

"He and the woman then resume riding down the street," Fox News reported. "It appears the woman gives no pushback on the boy for pulling the flag."

The video was posted on Friday and already has more than 2 million views, plus thousands of reactions — including people who were outraged over the boy's behavior, as well as how the mother allows the child to mishandle someone's private property, especially an American flag.

Someone exclaimed, "This is sickening. What a horrible mother."

A commenter added, "Breaks my cold little heart to see such a young child doing this.... what is going on in that home if the mother can egg it on."

One person tweeted, "A nation will not survive when society teaches its children to hate it."

One commenter wrote, "Honest question: How can a country succeed if their citizens are being raised to hate it?"

A Twitter user said, "My heart broke watching this. Lord help us all."

One person wrote, "Train up your child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it -Proverbs 22:6."

However, there seemed to be as many comments praising the mother and son for their actions toward the American flag.

Someone said, "The kid rocks."

A commenter added, "fantastic parenting."

A man stated, "best mom i've ever seen."

Someone wrote, "The proper way to raise your child."

A Twitter user praised, "Way to go, Mom. Exemplary parenting skills."

Another person said, "That kid is going places. You love to see it."

One person replied, "I love how his mom just let him do what he had to do."

One woman proclaimed, "if my kid doesn't desecrate at least 5 flags by the time they are 10 i will disown them."

The divisive viral video comes on the heels of a Black Lives Matter chapter declaring that the American flag is a "symbol of hatred" and only flown by racists.

College students recently gave their opinions on the American flag and said that Old Glory represents "genocide," "extremism," "injustice," and "sins we've committed against others."

Grammy award-winning singer Macy Gray said the American flag represents the same values as the Confederate flag, and needs to be revamped.

On Independence Day, the New York Times published an article that claimed the United States flag is divisive.
