CNN's ratings soar during Trump town hall, Fox News falls to distant second

CNN's town hall discussion with former President Donald Trump on Wednesday night appeared to be a win-win. Many praised the former president's performance while the network enjoyed some of its best primetime ratings in weeks, besting both Fox News and MSNBC in raw numbers and in the key 25-54 age-range demographic.

According to Mediaite, which cited Nielsen Fast National data, CNN drew a whopping 3.12 million total viewers during the event, which began at 8 p.m. Perhaps more importantly, 703,000 of those viewers were between the ages of 25 and 54, the demographic that most television networks and programs generally target. For context, in the last several weeks, CNN's primetime slot has averaged a paltry 500,000 viewers, even after Fox News parted ways with Tucker Carlson, whose former show also began at 8 p.m.

CNN's town hall numbers also crushed those of its cable news competitors, Fox News and MSNBC. Fox News barely beat out MSNBC in total viewers, 1.412 million to 1.372 million, but lost to MSNBC in the key demographic, 125,000 to 155,000. For years, Fox News primetime often doubled or even tripled the viewership of CNN and MSNBC, but its viewership has tanked since Carlson's abrupt departure.

And, as impressive as those initial ratings are, they may not actually tell the whole story. Both CNN.com and its apps streamed the town hall, and the initial data did not include those who tuned in via streaming. Later data should provide a more precise viewership picture.

— Jack Poso 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) May 11, 2023

Meanwhile, Trump's supporters hailed his performance, and even some of his harshest critics recognized that he had a strong showing. Notably, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) tweeted that "CNN should be ashamed of themselves" for giving Trump a "platform," while former ESPN and MSNBC personality Keith Olbermann, now known for ranting like a madman in social media videos, railed, "CNN gave its credibility to Trump's madness It must fire CEO Chris Licht: its owners must sell the brand they destroyed."

As much as people have praised Trump's showing, many have also panned the performance of CNN morning host Kaitlan Collins, who hosted the town hall but who repeatedly interrupted the former president with thinly veiled hostility. At one point, Trump lost his patience with her combative line of questioning and called her "a nasty person."

Here’s Trump calling Collins a “nasty person.”

pic.twitter.com/FChCCBEeLY
— Bobby Burack (@burackbobby_) May 11, 2023

Mollie Hemingway, senior editor of the Federalist, wrote a scathing rebuke of many in the media who attempted to put a positive spin on Collins' off-putting approach. "The only thing funnier than the Town Hall last night is the scores of media propagandists rushing to say -- all NATIONALLY TELEVISED evidence to the contrary! -- that Kaitlan Collins did well. I still don't quite get why it's important for them to lie about what we all saw," she tweeted.

Before CNN fans get too excited, as Mediaite noted, "3 million viewers is what Fox News used to draw on a regular night." Still, CNN seemed to have struck ratings gold with the Trump event held at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, an important state in primary voting. And as the event was billed as a Republican presidential town hall, it is possible that CNN might invite other GOP candidates for similar events in the lead up to the primaries — which start in less than a year.

'Whose schools? Our schools!': Trans activists occupy yet another state Capitol

Activists for so-called trans rights have invaded yet another state Capitol to protest legislative efforts to protect children and public spaces from the trans agenda.

On Friday, hundreds of leftist activists stormed the Florida Capitol building in Tallahassee, outraged that state legislators had dared to consider the Safety in Private Spaces Act, which would prevent people from using restrooms and other "changing facilities" such as locker rooms that do not correspond to their biological sex. Under that act, anyone in Florida who has been asked but refuses to leave an opposite-sex restroom or changing facility could be charged with a misdemeanor. Those found guilty could spend up to 60 days in jail or pay a $500 fine, The Hill reported.

"Parents have the right to raise their children as they see fit, and government intervention should be a last resort," said Sen. Clay Yarborough (R), one of the sponsors of the bill. "As lawmakers, we have a responsibility to protect children from viewing lewd conduct that is patently offensive to prevailing standards in our communities."

The bill passed the state Senate committee along party lines and will soon be presented for a vote to the full Senate, where Republicans hold a sizeable majority, 28-12.

Rather than accept that, as then-President Barack Obama once said, "Elections have consequences," the trans activists, most of whom appear young, occupied the Florida Capitol to express their outrage. Florida's Voice, a news outlet which purports to bring "honest political reporting to Florida, minus the mainstream talking points," shared a one-minute video of the protestors in action.

— Florida’s Voice (@FLVoiceNews) March 31, 2023

For the first half of the video, the protestors boo loudly after they received word that the measure had passed the committee. Then, an individual wearing a brightly colored shirt who appears to be male yells, "This fight, this fight does not end here!

"We keep showing up every single day," he continues, walking around in a circle and pointing emphatically with his left hand. "We keep making our voices heard."

He then leads the crowd in a rousing chant of "Whose schools? Our schools!," even though the measure would affect more than just schools.

The trans demonstration in Tallahassee mirrored those demonstrations which occurred elsewhere across the country earlier this week. On Wednesday, trans activists overtook the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfurt to protest similar bathroom legislation there, and 19 people were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. Then on Thursday morning, activists stormed the Capitol building of Tennessee to demand further gun restrictions after a woman who identified as transgender gunned down three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville. No one was arrested at the Capitol protest in Nashville, even though some activists breached the gallery where legislators were gathered.

'They wanted me to be murdered': 'Never before seen' security camera video shows swatting of Marjorie Taylor Greene's home

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) recently released security camera video of her home being swatted. The Republican representative from Georgia vehemently spoke out against the swatting – saying that those behind the fraudulent 911 call wanted her "to be murdered."

During an interview with Right Side Broadcasting Network (RBSN), Greene shared "never before seen security camera footage" of the potentially deadly swatting incident at her home in Rome, Georgia.

Someone called 911 to report an alleged shooting at Greene's home early Wednesday morning. The caller alleged that a man had been shot five times in the chest and was lying in a bathtub. The shooter was allegedly a woman with a loaded gun who was suicidal. The 911 caller claimed that there were children in the house.

Greene said police officers were looking for "a female with a gun that is threatening to kill herself."

"They were responding to a very serious issue that they knew someone supposedly had been shot – probably dead, maybe not dead yet," Greene said of the police officers who responded. "They knew someone was suicidal, had a loaded gun in their hand. And there were children in the home."

Security cameras at Greene's home captured the moment that police arrived.

Video shows the cops inspecting the outside of the home.

"I came down the hallway, and I came out of my hallway, and I looked around to look at the front door, and I saw police out there," Greene explained. "And I was like, 'Oh gosh, there's something serious going on.'"

"It really upset me because usually, I mean, if the police are coming to your house in the middle of the night, there's a serious thing," she added.

Greene instantly thought that maybe something tragic had happened to her children – who are away at college.

She said that the officer's demeanor and body language was "tactical" as he asked her, "Is everything okay, ma'am?" She told them that she had been asleep and didn't understand why law enforcement officers were at her door in the middle of the night.

The officer told Greene, "I think you've been swatted."

Greene – who is a staunch Second Amendment supporter – thanked God that she didn't bring her gun with her to greet police at the door, or it could have been a far more dangerous encounter.

"I probably would have been the target and that is the whole purpose of swatting someone," she stated.

Greene invited police – who still had their guns drawn – into her home to do a search.

Greene said the officers from the Rome Police Department are "amazing," and handled the intense situation by being calm and level-headed.

"This is what gets people killed. There have been multiple incidences just like this one where police ended up shooting someone because they believed they were responding to a call," she pointed out. "And that's what was happening to me."

"They wanted me to be murdered," Greene emphasized. "Death by cop – that's what swatting is, and they were doing this in hopes that the police would kill me."

Greene said she was swatted two nights in a row. The second time, police were familiar that the call could be a swatting hoax.

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸) 1661652370

Greene claimed that the person behind the swatting call allegedly confessed to authorities that they did so in reaction to the representative's Protect Children's Innocence Act.

Last week, Greene introduced a bill against so-called "gender-affirming care" for children – which would make puberty blockers and gender-changing surgery for minors a felony.

Greene last week introduced a bill that would make it a felony to provide gender-affirming care for transgender minors.

Greene claimed that liberals are furious at her for introducing the bill, "They're so angry at me that they want to kill me for it."

Local law enforcement and federal authorities are investigating the swatting hoax call.

Jon Stewart loses it, screams at Jack Posobiec over vet bill — then the UNIMAGINABLE happens

A video has been making the rounds on social media of former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart screaming at right-wing journalist and veteran Jack Posobiec over a misunderstanding about his support for a veterans' health care bill — but it was the surprise ending, provided later by Posobiec, that has everyone wondering what just happened.

Stewart was in Washington, D.C., to support the PACT Act, a bill that will allocate funds to help veterans exposed to toxic burn pits, which passed in the Senate on Tuesday night after initially being blocked by 41 Republican lawmakers. Stewart came unglued after the bill failed to pass last week and began screaming at Posobiec and fellow journalist Raheem Kassam.

In a video posted by Kassam, Stewart can be heard calling Posobiec a "f***ing troll" and repeatedly shouting "you're not in good faith."

— Raheem J. Kassam (@Raheem J. Kassam) 1659376374

Posobiec repeated "I'm for the bill" several times as Stewart shouted in his face. Posobiec later pointed out that he supports the PACT Act, in part because he has personally "serv[ed] in the military." According to Wikipedia, "Posobiec served several tours in the United States Navy Reserve from 2010 to 2017" and "was deployed for ten months at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base."

Another video posted by Penguinsix showed that the shouting match between the two continued to escalate for several minutes before Posobiec is eventually pursued by a crowd chanting "shame, shame."

Kyle Rittenhouse 'brought a gun to a fistfight, and he was too cowardly to use his own fists to fight his way out,' prosecutor argues

One of the prosecutors in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial, Assistant District Attorney James Kraus, argued Monday that the defendant "brought a gun to a fistfight, and he was too cowardly to use his own fists to fight his way out."

What are the details?

The prosecution's general argument was that Rittenhouse — who was 17 years old in August 2020 when he went to Kenosha, Wisconsin, and joined other armed individuals to protect property from rioters — should have used hand-to-hand combat to fight off a mob of adults who were threatening his life, chasing him, and physically assaulting him.

Kraus, in a rebuttal against the closing argument of Rittenhouse's defense, echoed a statement from lead prosecutor Thomas Binger that it was unfair of Rittenhouse to bring a gun to protect himself against the angry mob when his fists alone would have sufficed.

"Why do you get to immediately just start shooting?" Kraus asked the jury. "As Mr. Binger said, he brought a gun to a fistfight, and he was too cowardly to use his own fists to fight his way out. He has to start shooting."

Kenosha Assistant DA says Kyle Rittenhouse "brought a gun to a fist fight. He was too cowardly to use his own fists to fight so he had to start shooting.

A WITNESS ADMITTED TO POINTING A GUN AT KYLE! THIS PROSECUTION IS HORRIBLE. #KyleRittenhousepic.twitter.com/NMKadWAyoi

— Christopher Hale (@Chrishale92) 1637026565

Binger had previously argued — in reference to 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum chasing and threatening the life of Rittenhouse before the defendant fatally shot him — "but let's assume for a minute, yeah, Joseph Rosenbaum is chasing after the defendant 'cause he wants to do some physical harm to him. [Rosenbaum is] an unarmed man. This is a bar fight. This is a fistfight. This is a fight that maybe many of you have been involved in. Two people. Hand to hand. We're throwing punches, we're pushing, we're shoving, we're whatever. But what you don't do is you don't bring a gun to a fistfight."

And yes, Binger actually did use a still image in court from the Patrick Swayze cult-classic movie "Road House" to illustrate his point:

I don’t know what’s worse. The prosecutor’s absurd argument about self defense or…the fact that he used this graphic in a presentation to the court and jury.https://twitter.com/townhallcom/status/1460303717866119172 …

— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) 1637000997

Of course, the same can be said for Gaige Grosskreutz, who also brought a gun to this supposed "fistfight" and admitted to pointing it at Rittenhouse while the defendant was on the ground before Rittenhouse shot Grosskreutz in the arm.

'Everybody takes a beating sometimes, right?'

Kraus underscored the prosecution's argument that Rittenhouse was in no position to defend himself with a gun against the attacking mob by saying getting beaten up is no big deal.

"Everybody takes a beating sometimes, right?" Kraus casually floated to the jury. "Sometimes you get in a scuffle, and maybe you do get hurt a little bit. That doesn't mean you get to start plugging people with your full metal jacket AR-15 rounds."

DA: “Everyone takes a beating once in a while”

Is that the standard the women and daughters of Kenosha want to set?pic.twitter.com/HjLkjR7FAx

How did folks react to the prosecution's arguments?

It wasn't pretty:

 • "It doesn't matter what Other Guy uses when he assaults you. He assaulted you. Use whatever you want," one commenter reacted. "Kyle is not proven to have gone there for a fight, regardless of if he was carrying. Carrying just means he knew that progressive protests/riots get violent."
 • "'Miss, he was raping you and you were afraid — I understand that. But he was just using his body. Why do you get to start shooting him?'" another user pointed out.
 • "Three or more thugs against one 17 year old doesn't sound like a fair fistfight unless you're a Marxist Antifa Thug bent on killing, maiming, and destroying," another commenter noted.
 • "How much of a beating, hits with a skateboard, kicks to the head, or bullets from a Glock do you have to take before defending yourself?" another user asked.
 • "The flip side of everybody takes a beating is everybody has the right to fight back," another commenter declared. "That said, if you think you are in danger of being beaten with enough force to cause serious injuries you don't have to accept that. You have every right to defend yourself with lethal force."

Video: Mitch McConnell gives Ron DeSantis standing applause for speech declaring, 'I've only begun to fight'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) drew standing applause at an event attended by prominent Capitol Hill Republicans after declaring, "I've only begun to fight" against attacks from the mainstream media.

Speaking at the 2021 Daily Caller News Foundation Gala on Tuesday evening, DeSantis, a speculative 2024 presidential candidate, called on Republicans and conservatives to be courageous and stand up to the press, which has promoted false narratives about his administration and others on the right.

"When a society like ours is veering away from the truth like we are, those that stand up and tell truth will face fire," DeSantis said. "That type of society goes after the truth-tellers more than anything because they understand those who tell the truth represent a threat to their power. In times like these, there is no substitute for courage."

A portion of the governor's remarks were captured on video and posted to Twitter by Jack Posobiec, a senior editor at Human Events. In the video, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is seen attending the gala, and at the conclusion of DeSantis' speech he stands and applauds with others.

FLORIDA MAN STORMS DC https://t.co/5Zo4Cbo79U

— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) 1635295909.0

DeSantis, who has faced relentless criticism from the media over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic — particularly his opposition to lockdown policies and mask or vaccine mandates — told the audience that journalists "display partisanship" and "blind the American people from the actual truth."

He blasted liberal journalists for promoting "a fake conspiracy theory" that former President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election, accusing the press of trying to "gaslight" Americans who are concerned about the integrity of the 2020 election.

"You've got a press that for over two years created a fake conspiracy theory involving Russian collusion. I was in Congress when that started. I was only one of a handful of people who knew that was BS from the beginning. But they did it. And they milked it. And was all because they disagreed with the outcome of the 2016 election," DeSantis charged.

"They talk about complaining about the 2020? They never accepted Donald Trump. They created and manufactured a conspiracy theory to try to drive him out office and to kneecap him and his presidency and we know it was false. We know that there was no truth to it."

"Have any of them actually apologized?" DeSantis said. "Heck, have any of them even said, 'We were wrong about that'? No, they give each other awards. They actually award Pulitzer Prizes for reporting false stories."

The governor said Americans live in "Orwellian times" and that leaders need to have "courage in the face of a dishonest press. Courage to stare down things like cancel culture. Courage to speak up for those in America, many of whom don't have a voice."

To illustrate his point, DeSantis told a story about Winston Churchill.

"Winston Churchill told a story during the appeasement in the 1930s when he was in the Parliament," the governor said. "And he talked about when he was a kid, the Barnum & Bailey was coming to town and there was an act that was just too grotesque for human eyes. His nanny wouldn't let him go see it. It was called the 'boneless wonder.' And he said, 'I think now, where is this boneless wonder?' He said it's now no longer in the circus; it's in the front row of the House of Commons. These are people that weren't standing up against Adolf Hitler."

"So right now, conservatives, we don't have time for boneless wonders," DeSantis proclaimed. "You get elected to office, you need to be willing to stand up. Stand up against the press," he said to applause from the crowd.

The governor continued: "You stand up and you're strong in your convictions, there are millions and millions of people out there that will be with you forever. The minute you go up there and you're scared of the media, you're scared they're going to say bad things about you and you cave, those voters have no use for you after that.

"So I can only tell you for me, I'm gonna keep walking the line. I am gonna stand my ground. I am not backing down. We've accomplished an awful lot in the state of Florida, but I can tell you this: I've only begun to fight."

Antifa allegedly targeted Christians, including children, in the park by throwing projectiles, including rotten eggs.

"Antifa just rolled in like an angry mob, started throwing flash bombs at everybody, macing everybody ... rotten eggs," a woman is heard saying on video. "They threw a flash bomb into a group of kids that were out there from four months old to like 10."

The Antifa members sprayed red and yellow gas at the worshippers.

"All Cops are B*******, in the name of Jesus," an anti-police man was heard saying, mocking the religious service. Another Antifa member screamed, "Where is your god now?"

"Several speakers preached to the crowd of perhaps a few more than 50, while the original group dressed in black appeared to consider the confrontation a success," the Portland Tribune reported. "But soon a dozen or so counter-protesters trickled over to the memorial, leading to shouting matches."

The counter-protesters were reportedly members of the Proud Boys.

"Antifa had threatened to beat people up and do what they do — and then they showed up and did it," a member of the Proud Boys told the Portland Tribune. "The police were not even far from there and they were laughing in their vehicles and doing their thing. It's probably hard to care as an officer in a place where they take away all your funding."

The clashes between the left-wing Antifa and the right-wing Proud Boys continued outside of the park. The two groups shot paintballs and sprayed each other while a police officer watched and didn't intervene.

There were no arrests made during the squabbles, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Guests forced to delete photos and videos of maskless Obama at boozy birthday party

Despite COVID-19 cases soaring in recent weeks, due much in part to the highly contagious delta variant that has the U.S. averaging over 100,000 new cases per day, former President Barack Obama went forward with his celebrity-laden birthday party in Massachusetts on Saturday. A few photos and videos were leaked out to the public from the swanky soirée, which show a maskless Obama dancing with his guests, who also did not wear face coverings.

Obama's birthday bash was held in massive tents on his spacious estate in Martha's Vineyard in Dukes County, which was designated as a "high transmission" area for COVID-19 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. High transmission communities fall under the CDC's updated guidance recommending that masks be worn indoors, even by people who are fully vaccinated.

Singer Erykah Badu was performing at the former president's 60th birthday party, but managed to record a video of maskless Obama dancing with a woman and other attendees who were not wearing face coverings. Badu uploaded the video to Instagram, but then quickly deleted it. But she didn't manage to delete it quick enough and the footage was shared online.

Rapper Trap Beckham and manager TJ Chapman were also at Obama's birthday party, and shared photos of the event before deleting the images that were saved by the New York Post.

Chapman estimated that Obama spent at least $1 million on the event, which he called "the party of all parties."

The Daily Mail reported that guests were treated to "a specially constructed espresso martini bar, salt station and s'mores station."

Attendees were also provided custom-designed face masks and cocktail napkins emblazoned with "44x60," a logo for the 44th president on his 60th birthday.

However, Beckham revealed that he was forced to delete all of the images of the Obama shindig.

"Had to delete everything due to the rules," Beckham said after the party. "It was epic for sure. If any videos surface, it's going viral. He danced the whole time. Nobody ever seen Obama like this before."

In a video posted to social media, Chapman was upset he had to delete his videos.

"Epic night last night," Chapman said in a video. "I posted some stories of myself. Didn't think anybody gave a damn, and I guess they did. That's not cool. That's not cool."

Celebrity guests included Beyoncé, Jay-Z, George Clooney, Steven Spielberg, Bradley Cooper, Don Cheadle, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, Questlove, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Gayle King, Steven Colbert, and Tom Hanks.

John Legend allegedly sang "Happy Birthday" to Obama.

The party allegedly wrapped up around midnight, and the celebrities leaving caused a traffic "s***show," according to a local police officer.

The phrase "maskless Obama" trended on Twitter when the photos and videos of the former president not wearing a face covering hit the internet on Sunday.

Obama faced criticism over the party for claiming to "scale back" the festivities and include "only family and close friends," only to have celebrities fly into Massachusetts from all over the country.

Internet reactions to photos of Obama's supposed 'scaled back' birthday bash boasting massive tents for celebrities: 'Do you feel like a peasant yet?'

Former President Barack Obama is throwing a huge birthday party for himself at his opulent $12 million waterfront mansion on Martha's Vineyard on Saturday. The birthday bash was originally supposed to include nearly 500 guests and more than 200 staff, but the celebration was "significantly scaled back" to include "only family and close friends" due to criticism over holding a social gathering of that size during a surge in COVID-19 infections.

However, photos emerged of massive tents constructed specifically for the birthday party on Obama's 29-acre estate. There were also images of celebrities arriving at Martha's Vineyard to attend the festivities. The internet was quick to point out that the preparations for the party looked anything other than "scaled back."

Several celebrities were reportedly invited and then uninvited, including late-night talk show hosts David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actor Larry David, and David Axelrod, chief strategist for Obama's presidential campaigns, according to the New York Times.

The celebrities who did make the cut include Beyonce, Jay-Z, Eddie Vedder, Tom Hanks, and musician Questlove, who reportedly coordinated a meat-free menu for the party. "Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay had pulled out of the party earlier because of concerns over the Delta variant," the Times reported. Steven Spielberg, Bruce Springsteen, and George Clooney were reportedly on the original guest list, according to the New York Post. There were no reports of Obama's "bro" and former vice president Joe Biden attending the birthday party.

The New York Times added that the attendees of the party would be a "mostly vaccinated crowd," but "all of whom had to submit negative tests to gain entry to the property."

The party had been planned for months, and "the former president had baseball caps made for the occasion that read '44 at 60.'"

The Daily Mail released photos of massive tents on the Obamas' grandiose grounds. The outlet also published photos of celebrities arriving at the wealthy Massachusetts enclave for Obama's 60th birthday party, including Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Dwayne Wade, Gabriel Union, Don Cheadle, and Stephen Colbert. Biden's climate czar, John Kerry, was seen in photos taking a private jet to Martha's Vineyard.

The internet reactions to Obama's swanky and seemingly over-the-top birthday party complete with circus-like tents were delivered fast and furious.

 • "Do what we say, not what we do."
 • "The hypocrisy is the point."
 • "These are the people calling you selfish if you don't want to close your small business."
 • "Do you feel like a peasant yet?"
 • "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."
 • "The virus so deadly the elites risk their lives for a birthday party!"
 • "Look, news outlets raised cane when @POTUS45 held events at his compound in Florida during the pandemic. Now. @BarackObama celebrating his 60th with a tent larger than a lot of homes. It's just the news cycle. Stay healthy."

Villanova assistant professor advocates for critical race theory because it has Marxist roots, relates it to religion

While many have been trying to hide any correlations and links between critical race theory and Marxism, one assistant professor openly admits that CRT is based on the teachings of socialist revolutionary Karl Marx.

Glenn Bracey, an assistant professor of sociology and criminology at Villanova, is a strong proponent of critical race theory because it has Marxist roots. Bracey made the admission during a remote discussion about critical race theory on Zoom. The seminar was posted on Villanova's official YouTube channel, which turned off comments on the video titled: "What is Critical Race Theory?"

Bracey appeared to promote critical race theory at the private Catholic institution by comparing the controversial ideology to religion.

"Given the power frankly of the church to move politics, given its funding, given how so many people come to the academy first with the church as a large backdrop in their lives, it's important that we as critical race theorists be able to speak to them on their terms," Bracey said, according to the Post Millennial. "So I would say that we as critical race theorists should continue to be aggressive in promoting critical race theory, that we should us say how it relates to spirituality and religion in particular."

Bracey then admits that the anti-racist ideology of CRT is rooted in Marxism.

"So the core question for critical race theory is one of releasing people, especially people of color, especially black people, from the oppressive systems that deny us access to our species being, including racism. It's Marxism," the assistant professor stated.

"Marxism is fundamentally a spiritual concern, and it's the same spiritual concern that Evangelical Christians have, and that they believe that all people are made in the image of God, and they are endowed by their creator with special abilities, creativity, individuality that needs to be manifested in the world," he said.

"So the church and critical race theory actually have the same purpose with respect to the Marxist origins, even though Evangelicals don't seem to recognize that," he added.

"Evangelical Christians are very upset about critical race theory because it is self-consciously grounded in Marxism," Bracey proclaimed. "Now, when Evangelical Christians hear critical race theory is grounded in Marxism, what they hear is, religion is opiate of the masses, that religion is a distraction from justice, that religion is nothing more than fictions that are—that make people deviate from reality."

"Racism is the everyday operation of our American system," Bracey declared. "Racism is permanent. Not because of objective reasoning … but because whites are fixated on blackness and anti-blackness, and they orient different other racial groups in the middle of white and black in order to protect their own superiority."

"In other words, racism is something that white people could decide to give up," he continued. "They could change the social [relationships], they could change the way that they, their anti-blackness, but they won't."

On Bracey's profile page on the Villanova website, he lists his "areas of expertise" as race and politics, sociology, Black Lives Matter, critical race theory, race and law, social movements, and Colin Kaepernick.
