A woman fired a gun at Dallas Love Field airport. A police officer with a gun stopped her

A police officer shot and wounded an armed woman who fired a handgun inside Dallas Love Field airport on Monday morning.

Flights in Dallas, Texas, were put on hold after a woman identified as 37-year-old Portia Odufuwa opened fire at the ceiling, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The suspected shooter was dropped off at the airport at about 11 a.m., proceeded inside near the ticketing counters and went into a bathroom, Dallas police Chief Eddie Garcia said at a news conference. The woman then emerged wearing a hooded sweatshirt, pulled out a handgun, aimed the weapon at the ceiling, and fired several times, Garcia told reporters.

An officer at the scene responded quickly, shooting at the armed woman and hitting her "lower extremities," police said. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital.

“No other individuals were injured in this event other than the suspect,” Garcia said.

Travelers at the airport reportedly scattered and took cover when the shooting began, according to video posted to social media.

“@DallasLoveField what just happened? A group of people were running and yelling “run” and we all immediately took cover. Nothing has been communicated to us. Everything seems to be calm now. It was most certainly a scary experience for all. @SouthwestAir”

Police have not yet determined the shooter's motive.

“We wanted to ensure that our community knows that this is not an active situation,” the police chief said.

Dallas City Council member Jesse Moreno said the suspect was in stable condition in a statement released shortly before 2 p.m., the Dallas Morning News reported.

“I’m thankful to the Dallas police department, (the Transportation Security Administration) and the dedicated Love Field staff for their swift response in keeping people safe,” Moreno said. “This is something they do every day for people who travel to and from Dallas.”

A spokeswoman for Love Field told the Associated Press that airport operations were suspended Monday afternoon and would resume when authorities had completed their investigation.

"At approximately 11:23 am. Monday, July 25, the Dallas Police Department reported and immediately responded to shots fired in the Dallas Love Field terminal. An evacuation and shelter-in-place commenced as DPD investigated, confirmed, and neutralized the single, shooter threat," the airport tweeted at 3:03 p.m. ET.

At 4:43 p.m. ET, the airport announced that operations had resumed.

A spokesman for Southwest Airlines, which uses Love Field as a hub, told the AP the airline canceled most of its flights that were scheduled to depart or arrive at Love Filed before 6 p.m. CDT. Southwest reportedly canceled 85 flights at Love Field on Monday, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.

‘How do you think she got Aquaman’? Johnny Depp fights dirty in Amber Heard trial

On Monday, Johnny Depp pointed to Amber Heard's landing the role of Mera in the movies "Justice League" and "Aquaman" to imply that his ex-wife was paying too much attention to certain "meetings" and not enough to himself.

Depp took the witness stand during his $50 million defamation trial against his ex-wife to answer questions about a text he sent in response to her message saying, "I’m at a coffee meeting now, will be home soon.”

“No goddamn meetings. No movies. Why? Why do you deviate from our agreement? What species of meeting? F*** it. Just tell me when you get home," was Depp's friendly reply.

After reading the text out loud, Heard's lawyer hinted that Depp just might have been acting like a scary control freak who did not want his wife going to meetings instead of spending time with him. But Depp denied that the text was sent in anger and claimed he was merely wondering why his then-wife would "deviate" from their plans in order to bag a major role in the next big DC Comics film.

“So this is not necessarily an angry text, it’s just 'why do you deviate from our agreement?' It’s not about her doing films. How do you think she got "Aquaman," sir?"

Depp completed his final of four days of testimony and cross-examination on Monday during a $50 million defamation trial against Heard, after she wrote a 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post claiming that Depp abused her during their marriage. Heard is counter-suing Depp for defamation for $100 million.

Philadelphia 15-year-old killed by stray bullets while retrieving case of water from his dad's car

A family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is mourning the tragic death of a 15-year-old boy who was killed by stray gunfire outside of his own home last week.

Sean Toomey quickly ran outside of the house to retrieve a case of water bottles from his dad's car on Thursday, but he never made it back. Police said Toomey was caught in the crossfire of an attempted carjacking taking place across the street.

As the boy was heading back home with the water in hand, at least two suspects were pulling on a woman's car door while she drove into her apartment complex. The woman reportedly called her boyfriend for help and when he came outside, gunfire erupted.

Toomey was struck twice by the gunfire, once in the head and once in the side. He was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the Wissinoming neighborhood in northeast Philadelphia.

The boy's father, John Toomey, was inconsolable as he recounted the tragedy to reporters last week.

"I heard the two pops and I thought it was firecrackers," Toomey said during an interview. "But it only takes a second to grab some water and get in the house and he wasn't coming back in. So I got curious, I put my sweatshirt on, and I went outside and I saw him lying on my neighbor's lawn."

That's when he saw his son covered in blood; the case of water thrown on the ground next to him.

"There was blood on his head. I thought maybe he’d fallen on the fence or something when I first saw it. I wasn’t adding it up. No one gets shot around here," Toomey continued.

"Can’t describe it," he added. "It’s not something I want anyone, anyone to experience. I was just in the hospital. The doctor said he’s brain dead. Every time I turned away from him and saw him again I’d break down, over and over. He’s only 15! You know, the kid is in the house most of the time playing with his computer and his phone. He went out to get some water."

As of Monday afternoon, an investigation into the incident is ongoing and police have yet to make any arrests. The suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Toomey's death comes as Philadelphia continues to grapple with a scourge of violent crime. Homicides in the city totaled 562 last year, by far the largest number ever recorded. This year, the city is on pace to beat that figure.

Biden stumbles multiple times and falls climbing Air Force One stairs — White House blames wind

President Joe Biden stumbled multiple times and fell while climbing the stairs onto Air Force One on Friday, but the White House insists he "is doing 100 percent fine" after the fall they attributed to the wind.

What are the details?

Biden, 78, began his climb at a brisk pace while using the hand rail before tripping twice and then falling before pulling himself back up and completing his ascent more carefully.

Biden Falls Three Times Getting on Air Force Onewww.youtube.com

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blamed the president's stumbles on the windy day, telling reporters, "It's pretty windy outside. It's very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself."

She added that Biden "is doing 100 percent fine" after the incident.

Kate Bedingfield, White House communications director, reiterated in a tweet that Biden "is just fine and did not even require any attention form the medical team who travels with him." She called the stumbles "nothing more than a misstep on the stairs."

Fox News noted that Biden is just "one of many top American leaders to fall while boarding presidential jets," pointing to previous stair-tripping made by former Vice President Mike Pence, former President Barack Obama, and a fall former President Gerald Ford took in 1975.

But Biden has fallen under extra scrutiny over both his physical and mental capacities, considering he is the oldest U.S. president to assume the office.

The Washington Examiner reminded its readers that Biden fractured his foot in December, before reporting:

White House aides have taken great strides during his two months in office to downplay the 78-year-old president's age. They have limited him to brief speeches that have not required him to stand for long periods and released pictures of him playing with his German Shepherds on the White House's South Lawn.

The president's advanced age was raised as a concern repeatedly both during the Democratic primaries and the general election last year.

In September, Biden mocked Trump after the former president and his campaign suggested that the Democrat had "lost his step." Biden told one outlet in his own defense, "Look at how [Trump] steps and look at how I step. Watch how I run up ramps and how he stumbles down ramps, OK?"

Anything else?

After Biden's fall on Friday, a buzz began on social media asking how mainstream media outlets will cover the current president's literal stumbles versus the hysteria when former President Donald Trump took caution while walking down a ramp after delivering the commencement at West Point. Trump explained later that the ramp was slick.

Commentary writer Drew Holden delivered a thread on Twitter showing several examples of media outlets declaring Trump's ramp walk raised "health questions" along with "grifters" who seized on it — with one declaring the ramp walk showed Trump "is physically and mentally impaired."

Dylan Byers, senior reporter for NBC News and MSNBC, even wondered out loud whether media would be consistent in its coverage of the Biden fall, tweeting, "Going to be an interesting test of the media that ran 'Trump grabs handrail' headlines to see how they handle Biden falling down on the stairs. Every news organization is entitled to its own editorial judgment, but if you set the precedent..."

Johnny Depp pulls out of 'Fantastic Beasts' movies under pressure from Warner Bros.

Depp, in an Instagram post, announced that Warner Brothers asked him to pull out of the movies. The exit comes just days after Depp lost a libel case in the United Kingdom against The Sun.

Post-debate media roundup: Poor boys, Abraham Lincoln and Hunter Biden

The final debate before the 2020 presidential election saw the two candidates punching hard at each other, but neither struck a knockout blow. Most commentators thought NBC News moderator Kristen Welker did a much better job and the muting of microphones seemed to aid in keeping the discussion civil and more intelligible.

Here are some of the more interesting reactions to the debate from social media.

Biden sarcastically referred to the president as Abraham Lincoln and he didn't quite get it:

Thanks to this exchange, Abraham Lincoln was trending on Twitter briefly. But unfortunately for Biden, Twitter noticed he mistook the "poor boys" for what he meant, which was "Proud Boys," a far-right organization:

DHS disputes report that government cannot reunite 545 separated migrant children with their parents

A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday disputed a report that the parents of 545 migrant children separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border cannot be found.

According to a report from NPR, court filings by the U.S. Justice Department and the American Civil Liberties Union indicate that 545 children separated under the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy have not been reunited with their families because the government cannot find their parents. Under the controversial policy, the federal government attempted to prosecute each and every migrant who entered the United States illegally. As a result, thousands of migrant children who came to the United States illegally were separated from their parents or adult guardians while the government prosecuted the adults accompanying those minors.

The policy of separating migrant children from parents being prosecuted for crimes did not originate with the Trump administration and was in fact in place during the Obama administration. However, because the Trump administration attempted to prosecute every migrant who crossed the border illegally, more children were separated from their parents than under previous administrations.

In 2018, after a successful lawsuit from the ACLU, a federal court ordered the Trump administration to reunite the separated families and the policy was discontinued that year.

NPR reports that the court order mandating migrant families be reunited did not cover about 1,000 families separated by a 2017 pilot program and that the federal government has thus far been unable to locate over half of those parents.

The DHS claims this is a false narrative, and that in reality many of the parents contacted by the federal government did not want to be reunited with their children.

"This narrative has been dispelled on numerous occasions. DHS has taken every step to facilitate the reunification of these families where the parents wanted such reunification to occur," DHS spokesman Chase Jennings said in a statement.

"The simple fact is this: after contact has been made with the parents to reunite them with their children, many parents have refused. In the current litigation, for example, out of the parents of 485 children whom Plaintiffs' counsel has been able to contact, they have yet to identify a single family that wants their child reunited with them in their country of origin. The result is that the children remain in the U.S. while the parents remain in their home country. The reunification process is a whole-of-Government approach involving CBP, ICE, and HHS."

Jennings further disputed the NPR story on Twitter.

Biden refuses to say if he'd pack the Supreme Court with liberals if Republicans fill Ginsburg's seat

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden refused to say whether he'd sign on to a plan to pack the Supreme Court with more liberal justices if the Republicans are able to fill late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat on the high court.

The former vice president made the comments on Monday in an interview with WBAY-TV.

"Let me tell you why I'm not gonna answer that question. Because it would shift all the focus," Biden said.

Democrats have tried to pressure the Republicans against trying to fill the seat, vacated by Ginsburg's death, by threatening to expand the court and pack it with more liberal justices. The Constitution does not stipulate how many justices should be on the Supreme Court.

"That's what he wants, he never wants to talk about the issue at hand he always tries to change the subject," Biden said of the president.

"But let's say I answer that question, then the whole debate's gonna be about what Biden said or didn't say. Biden said he would or wouldn't," he explained.

"The discussion should be about why he's moving in a direction totally that's totally inconsistent with what the founders wanted. The design in the Constitution it says, the design, voters get to pick the president, who gets to make the pick, and the Senate gets to decide," Biden said.

"We're in the middle of an election right now, you know, people are voting now. By the time this Supreme Court hearing would be held if they hold one, we'd in fact, we'd probably, there's estimated 30 to 40 percent of the American people would already have voted," he continued.

"It is a fundamental breach of constitutional principle," Biden concluded.

On Monday, the Republicans in the Senate appear to have enough support from their party to move ahead with the nomination process once the president makes it.

"We've got the votes to confirm Justice Ginsburg's replacement before the election, we're going to move forward in the committee, we're going to report the nomination out of the committee to the floor of the United States Senate so we can vote before the election," said Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

'We don't censor on this show': Harris Faulkner denies banning criticism of George Soros after online backlash

Fox News host Harris Faulkner addressed the social media outrage over a bizarre moment when one of their guests appeared to be barred from speaking about George Soros.

Faulkner denied the show had censored speech in a statement made on air on Thursday.

"So, we had a little incident on the show yesterday that was not smooth," said Faulkner.

"And while I was leading that segment we had interruptions and I sat silently while all of that played out, also not ideal. Our guest former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is beloved and needed to be allowed to speak with the openness and respect that this show is all about, was interrupted," she explained.

"Do we debate with fire here? Yes! But we must also give each other the space to express ourselves. As the only original member of this six-year-old amazing daytime ride known as Outnumbered— I especially want to rock and roll with every voice and perspective at the table," Faulkner said.

"We don't censor on this show," she concluded. "And that's why we are winning weekdays at noon!"

Here's what happened

Faulkner and her co-host Melissa Francis faced scathing criticism on Wednesday from viewers who believed that they had banned criticism of left-wing billionaire financier George Soros.

Gingrich pointed out, correctly, that Soros had helped fund left-wing organizations that aided many district attorneys in getting into power to soften law enforcement policies.

"Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal, and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros's money. And they are a major cause of the violence we are seeing because they keep putting the violent criminals back on the street," said Gingrich.

"I'm not sure we need to bring George Soros into this," interrupted Francis.

Faulkner moved on after a very awkward and tense moment of silence between the panelists.

Some critics of the incident pointed out that many of the facts Gingrich listed about Soros' meddling in law enforcement had been reported by Fox News itself, most notably in July.

On her official Twitter account, Faulkner retweeted a message on Thursday that reiterated that she did not apologize for the incident, but simply explained what happened to the viewers.

Here's the video of Faulker's comments:
