'Just political rhetoric?' KJP on defense over Biden's peaceful transfer vow after claiming Trump threatens democracy

On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced the press for the first time since the election results were announced. During the briefing, multiple reporters challenged her regarding President Joe Biden's earlier comments about President-elect Donald Trump.

Before Trump's victory on Tuesday, Biden frequently warned Americans that Trump posed a threat to democracy. With the election outcome, the Biden administration has now vowed a peaceful transfer of power to the incoming Trump administration.

'I do not appreciate having my words twisted.'

Jean-Pierre was pressed about Biden's role in the Democratic Party's Tuesday defeat. Reporters asked the press secretary whether the president regretted stepping down in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris and whether he felt responsible for the loss.

Jean-Pierre placed a majority of the blame on "global headwinds."

"Despite all of the accomplishments that we were able to get done, there were global headwinds because of the COVID-19 pandemic," she claimed. "And it had a political toll on many incumbents, if you look at what happened in 2024 globally. And that's part of what you saw."

Reporters questioned Jean-Pierre about Biden's views on Trump before and after the election.

"The president repeatedly referred to Donald Trump as a threat to democracy over and over again. And this morning, though, he said we're all going to be okay. So was that just political rhetoric?" NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez asked.

Jean-Pierre replied, "If you know the president, you know that him saying we're all going to be okay, he's an optimist, right? He believes when you get knocked down, you get back up. We are — we, we, we lost. But we're not defeated, right?"

"The president believes — uh, as, as you asked me about the threat to democracy — uh, believes in — being an obligation to be honest to the American people," she continued.

Jean-Pierre claimed that Trump had "talked about an enemy within," "mistreating Americans who disagree with him," and "terminating the Constitution." She brought up comments by Trump's former Chief of Staff John Kelly and former Defense Secretary Mark Esper.

"To be clear, he still believes Donald Trump is a threat to democracy?" Gutierrez asked.

"I think that the president was very clear, what he stated, and was very honest," she replied. "Right now, we want to move forward, and we want to make sure there's a peaceful transfer of power. That's what the American people deserve."

Another reporter asked Jean-Pierre whether Biden still stands by his comments about Trump being "an existential threat to democracy."

"I don't have anything else to share beyond what I said," she responded.

Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich said to the press secretary, "This administration's message to millions of Americans that they're going to wake up [the] day after the election, if Trump won, and have their rights stripped away, that democracy would crumble. And the president said today we're going to be okay. So how do you square that?"

"I can square that," Jean-Pierre replied, stating that she had already answered the question multiple times. "The American people made the decision."

Heinrich asked Jean-Pierre what the message is to "people who are fearful based on" Biden's previous comments about Trump.

"Well, now you're just twisting everything around, and that's really unfair. No, it is, no, no, no, Jacqui, it's unfair because I've been standing here trying to be very respectful to what happened the last two nights, two nights ago," Jean-Pierre said.

She appeared frustrated by the line of questioning, adding, "I do not appreciate having my words twisted."

Moments later, Jean-Pierre closed her binder and ended the presser.

WATCH: The queen of gaslighting, Karine Jean-Pierre, scolds Peter Doocy for ‘dangerous’ question about White House's anti-Trump rhetoric

Ironically, the anti-hate speech party is the same one perpetuating the violence-inducing anti-Trump rhetoric by continuing to liken him to Hitler, spread the message that he’ll end democracy, rule as a dictator, and even imprison certain groups.

Even though Trump has escaped two attempts to assassinate him now, the left continues to use the same language, leading many to fear that the political violence directed toward him will only continue.

When Fox News’ Peter Doocy pointed this out in a press conference, House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s response can only be described as gaslighting at its finest.

Dave Rubin plays the clip:

- YouTubewww.youtube.com

“It's been only two days since somebody allegedly tried to kill Donald Trump again, and you're here at the podium in the White House briefing room calling him a threat. How many more assassination attempts on Donald Trump until the president and the vice president and you pick a different word to describe Trump other than threat?” Doocy asked.

“I actually completely disagree with the premise of your question. The question that you’re asking, it is also incredibly dangerous in the way that you’re asking it because American people are watching,” Jean-Pierre began before launching into a jeremiad about how much the Biden-Harris administration has always condemned political violence.

“And to say that from an administration who has consistently condemned political violence, from an administration where the president called the former president and was thankful, grateful that he was OK, from an administration who has called out January 6, called out the attack of Paul Pelosi, called out and said we need to lower the temperature after the Butler incident — and now for you to make that kind of, of comment in your question ... your question involved a comment and a statement and that is also incredibly dangerous when we have been very clear in condemning political violence from here,” she continued.

After that grand display of gaslighting, she turned the conversation toward January 6 and used it as a justification for calling Trump a threat.

“What I have said about the former president about January 6 is facts that you all have reported. It is fact. When you have a former president who basically says that the results of the election were not the results of the election when dozens of more than 60 Republican judges said that it was a free and fair election — more than 60 said it was indeed a free and fair election. You had more than 2,000 people who were told to go to the Capitol. It was one of the darkest days of our democracy,” she ranted, adding that there were “law enforcement officers who died because of what happened at the Capitol.”

“They were there because the former president told them to go there. I mean, I don't know if that's not a threat in our democracy when it was one of the darkest days of our democracy — January 6, one of the darkest days — and so we have been very clear from here. ... It is welcome to have those disagreement on the economy, on health care, on foreign policy, but when you start bringing up political rhetoric, that is not OK,” she said.

Despite her lengthy attempt to shut him down and steer the conversation in a different direction, Doocy wasn’t deterred.

“But to your point, there are people watching at home who might miss the part where you say ‘let's lower the temperature,’ and there are mentally unstable people who are attempting to kill political candidates, attempting to kill Donald Trump, and they are still hearing this White House refer to him as a threat. Is there no concern that people are taking that literally?” he pressed.

“We’re using examples. We’re not just saying that to say it. January 6, Peter. January 6. Wait, January 6. How many times do you have to — January 6, 2021,” she fired back.

Dave can’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of her “belabored” language.

“She’s accusing Peter Doocy of being dangerous” when he was “just asking if the Biden administration could lower the temperature, and that somehow is dangerous,” he laughs.

Peter Doocy confronts KJP with evidence of coordinated attempt to protect Kamala Harris from 'border czar' record

Is the media coordinating with Democrats to claim that Vice President Kamala Harris was never the border czar?

On Thursday, Fox News senior correspondent Peter Doocy confronted White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over a card with talking points that is being distributed to Democrats on Capitol Hill.

'Do you think that the border would be less of a talking point now if there was less migration to the border, say, if somebody had to address root causes of migration?'

That card claims Harris was never "border czar," insists a "border czar" position never existed, and claims Republicans "invented" the title. She was tasked only with combating the "root causes" of migration from a small group of Central American nations, the talking points claim.

And of course: The card insists that Harris succeeded at her job, whatever it actually was.

— (@)

“Democrats on Capitol Hill are being handed this card with talking points about the vice president and the border. Do you know who’s handing this out?" Doocy asked.

"I have no idea. You probably should ask her campaign," Jean-Pierre responded with a smirk.

When Doocy pressed the issue, Jean-Pierre predictably blamed Republicans and Donald Trump for the border crisis. Her response, however, only provided Doocy with ammunition for a follow-up question.

"Do you think that the border would be less of a talking point now if there was less migration to the border, say, if somebody had to address root causes of migration?" he asked.

The question, of course, hits at the heart of the issue. Even if Harris was only in charge of the "root causes" of the migration crisis, it's clear she failed at her job because the border crisis has been a significant problem for the entirety of the Biden presidency.

Unfortunately, Jean-Pierre did not answer Doocy's follow-up question. Rather, she again blamed Republicans for the problems that occurred under the watch of President Joe Biden and Harris.

Meanwhile, the media's narrative about Harris — that she was never "border czar" — matches the talking points on the card.

And while it's true that Harris never received the official title "border czar," no one disputed that Harris was tasked with the job of a border czar for the last three years.

Only when Biden ended his re-election campaign and Harris became the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee did the media begin to claim it wasn't true.

Karine Jean-Pierre throws TEMPER TANTRUM over questions about Biden's health

The White House press corps is not happy with Karine Jean-Pierre — as she just can’t seem to stop repeating lies from the White House regarding the president’s health.

“I never answered the question incorrectly,” Jean-Pierre responded to a frustrated member of the press. “That is not true. I was asked about a medical exam, I was asked about a physical, that was in the line of questions that I answered.”

“And I said ‘No, he did not have a medical exam,’ and I still stand by that. Matter of fact, the president still stands by that. He had a verbal check-in, that is something that the president has a couple times a week,” Jean-Pierre continued.

When another reporter asked the name of the doctor with whom President Biden has weekly check-ins, Jean-Pierre got angrier.

“I am telling you right now that I am not sharing, confirming names from here. It is a security reason. I am not going to do that Ed, it doesn’t matter how hard you push me, it doesn’t matter how angry you get with me. I’m not going to confirm a name,” she said.

Pat Gray is confused as to why it’s a “security reason.”

“If she mentions the guy's name, if it’s Dr. Cannard, does that mean people are going to try to kill him? Is that what the security issue is? Are you endangering his life by saying, ‘Yeah, he treated the president?’ This is BS. Come on,” Gray says.

Jean-Pierre then went on to claim that it was for the doctor’s “privacy.”

“It is inappropriate, it is not acceptable,” she added.

“He’s the president’s doctor,” Gray laughs. “That just ruins your career.”

In another press briefing, Jean-Pierre appeared to be on the brink of tears.

“We literally do everything that we can, my team does, that we can, to make sure that we get the answers to you,” she said. “And sometimes we disagree, sometimes we are not in agreement. But you know what, that’s democracy.”

“And so to say that I’m holding information, or allude to anything else, is unfair, is really, really unfair,” she continued. “And I will admit, I will be the first one to admit, sometimes I get it wrong. At least I admit that.”

Then it got worse, as Jean-Pierre told reporters sometimes she doesn’t “have the information,” but again, at least she admits it.

When she was asked whether or not Biden would submit to a cognitive test, Jean-Pierre said more of absolutely nothing.

“Everything that he does day in and day out, as it relates to delivering for the American people, is a cognitive test.”

Peter Doocy confronts KJP with easy question about 'incoming nuke' and Biden — but her answer doesn't inspire confidence

Who makes decisions after President Joe Biden goes to bed? That's the pressing question Fox News senior correspondent Peter Doocy confronted the White House with on Tuesday.

Last week, Biden told a group of Democratic governors that he plans to stop working after 8 p.m. so that he can go to bed early.

'He has a team that lets him know of any news that is pertinent and important to the American people.'

The comments raised eyebrows after Biden's debate preparation schedule was made public: He didn't begin preparations until 11 a.m., and his staff always scheduled him an afternoon nap. Biden, moreover, typically has a late start to his work day and has few evening events scheduled. He also has a history of missing evening meetings on international trips.

At the White House press briefing, Doocy asked the natural follow-up question to Biden's schedule, which is much less robust than those his predecessors maintained.

"Say that the Pentagon at some point picks up an incoming nuke; it's 11:00 p.m. Who do you call? The first lady?" Doocy asked.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre could have answered the question any number of ways. One might have expected her to say that in such a critical situation, staffers would awaken the president so that he could carry out his constitutional duty as commander in chief.

But she didn't take that route.

"He has a team that lets him know of any news that is pertinent and important to the American people," she responded. "He has someone — or — that is decided, obviously, with his National Security Council on who gets to tell him that news."

A team.

Doocy presumably invoked first lady Jill Biden because former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) revealed this week that he attended White House meetings at which she was present. This, of course, is highly unusual.

Later in the briefing, Doocy asked Jean-Pierre about the first lady's presence at those meetings, and she denied that Jill makes any decisions for her husband.

It is notable, however, that Jean-Pierre did not dispute McCarthy's claim that Jill attends Oval Office meetings.

Biden claims he received medical evaluation after debate, but the fine print tells the actual story: 'Brief check'

President Joe Biden is now claiming that he received a post-debate medical evaluation.

During an hour-long meeting with Democratic governors late Wednesday, one governor asked Biden about his physical condition, according to Politico. The question reportedly prompted Biden to say he remains in good health, which he knows because he received a medical checkup after the debate. He even knocked on wood "for effect," Politico reported.

Contradictions inside the White House press shop are not the only problem.

The admission raised a serious question on Thursday: Who is telling the truth?

That's because in the hours before Biden's meeting with the Democratic governors, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that Biden had not been seen by a doctor.

"Has the president had any medical exams since his last physical in February?" CNN correspondent MJ Lee asked.

"We were able to talk to his doctor about that, and that is a 'no,'" Jean-Pierre responded.

Later in the press briefing, a second reporter asked why Biden has not received a medical evaluation if, as the White House has insisted, he was infected with a cold and a doctor was with him on the debate trip. Jean-Pierre did not answer the question directly. She did, however, downplay the seriousness of Biden's cold, which was confusing because the cold itself was one of the excuses offered for Biden's poor debate performance.

Not only did Biden contradict Jean-Pierre, but so did her own deputy.

"Several days [after the debate], the president was seen to check on his cold and was recovering well," White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told CNN.

Contradictions inside the White House press shop are not the only problem.

As Biden and the White House now try to use the checkup to assuage questions about Biden's health, the truth is that any checkup was brief and did not include a full battery of cognitive tests.

Politico reported that Biden received a "short checkup ... due to lingering symptoms from his cold." A source told the outlet the exam was "brief and did not include any major tests." CNN, moreover, corroborated the reporting, with sources saying Biden received only a "brief check," not a formal physical.

White House claims embarrassing videos of Biden are FAKE?!

By now, the majority of the country knows Joe Biden is in the throes of serious cognitive decline. His list of gaffes grows longer by the day despite the fact that he’s given scripts and escorted off nearly every stage.

Plus, he has White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to run cover for him.

Glenn Beck showed the footage from a recent press conference during which KJP claimed that the viral videos of Biden’s goofs were “edited,” “cheap-fakes,” and “deepfakes.”

“There seems to be a sort of rash of videos that have been edited to make the president appear especially frail or mentally confused,” one reporter stated. “I'm wondering if the White House is especially worried about the fact that this appears to be a pattern.”

Before we get to KJP’s answer, it would be a crime to overlook the framing of the question itself.

“That question is shaped [to say] that the president is fine, there’s no problem with the president,” Glenn points out.

“I think you all have called this the cheap-fakes video, and that's exactly what they are. They are cheap-fakes videos, they are done in bad faith, and some of your news organizations have been very clear ... that these right-wing critics of the president have a credibility problem because fact checkers have repeatedly caught them pushing misinformation [and] disinformation,” was KJP’s answer.

She went on to call Republicans “desperate” and flat out stated that they are the ones behind the “deepfakes” and “manipulated videos” of Biden’s failures.

“You saw Macron look at [Biden] like, ‘Oh geez, here he goes,’ and then Meloni saw it, and she walked across all of the world leaders to grab him and turn him around, so I mean were they part of this deepfake?” asks Glenn, referencing Biden’s latest goof at the G7 Summit where he had to be assisted by Italy’s prime minister.

“Everybody there viewed it the same way the rest of the country did.”

Peter Doocy tells the truth about viral Biden videos after White House meltdown: 'These clips are not being manipulated'

Fox News senior correspondent Peter Doocy fact-checked the White House on Tuesday for claiming President Joe Biden is the victim of "cheap-fake" videos.

On Monday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre accused "right-wing" media of circulating "cheap-fake" videos of the president that show him appear to freeze up or wander off during public events while looking mentally confused and frail. The videos are "misinformation" and "disinformation," Jean-Pierre claimed, evidence the "right-wing" media have a "credibility problem."

'A cheap fake is just if a clip is cut shorter than they want, or from an angle that they don't like.'

What Jean-Pierre did not include in her diatribe is the fact that one of the videos in question originated with a journalist from the Hollywood Reporter, hardly a "right-wing" media outlet.

But on "Fox & Friends," Doocy provided critical context to the videos and why the Biden administration is attacking them.

"She referred to 'cheap-fakes' and also 'deepfakes' while dismissing these clips. But there's an important difference: A deepfake is if somebody is using AI or some other software to change the things that President Biden is doing or saying. A cheap-fake is just if a clip is cut shorter than they want, or from an angle that they don't like," Doocy explained.

"Both of them are the same, though, in that they are both being used as terms to scapegoat as this White House just does not want people to think that the things they see on social media are as they appear," he added.

Even if the videos lack context the White House wants, Doocy reminded viewers the videos themselves aren't manipulated.

"There is something to the fact that a lot of these clips are lacking context. That doesn't mean that the things people see are not happening," he pointed out.

"These clips are not being manipulated with AI," he explained. "The thing is: Every video that you see on the internet is in some way edited or clipped unless you're rewatching an entire livestream of something played back from start to finish. Everything is cut at some point. And White House officials just want the clips to be way longer so that people can see way more context."

The White House's assault on the so-called "cheap-fake" videos is probably not a winning PR strategy.

That's because the scenarios the videos highlight are not isolated incidents; they've been happening for the entirety of Biden's presidency. And it's probably not a good idea to lecture voters that their own eyes are lying to them.
