'General Hospital' star Johnny Wactor, 37, shot dead in downtown Los Angeles during catalytic converter theft

Johnny Wactor – the former star of the popular soap opera "General Hospital" – is dead at 37 after being fatally shot in downtown Los Angeles during an alleged catalytic converter theft, according to multiple reports.

Wactor's mother, Scarlett Wactor, told TMZ that her son and one of his coworkers noticed "three men messing with Johnny's car" in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning.

The mother said that Wactor "didn't try to fight or stop them," but the "men shot him anyway before taking off."

The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call around 3:25 a.m. PT on Saturday, and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Wactor was rushed to a local hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the medical center.

It is suspected that the lethal shooting occurred during a catalytic converter theft.

The suspects have not been named and are still at large, according to police.

KTLA confirmed the actor's sudden death with Johnny’s younger brother, Grant Watson.

A spectacular human being.

Wactor’s talent agent, David Shaul, also confirmed Watson's death.

“Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being. Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never-give-up attitude. In the highs and lows of a challenging profession, he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be," Shaul told Variety in a statement. "Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever."

Wactor began his acting career in 2007 with a role in the "Army Wives" TV series.

The celebrity actor was best known for portraying his Brando Corbin character in 164 episodes of "General Hospital" between 2020 and 2022.

He also appeared in popular television shows, such as "Westworld," "NCIS," and "Criminal Minds."

Wactor had worked consistently since "General Hospital." Most recently, he was working on the TV movie "Nightmare Diaries" that was in pre-production, according to IMDb.

Anyone with information regarding the deadly shooting is urged to call the LAPD's Central Station at 213-486-6606 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

LOL: Dem mayor who released LA criminals from jail just got her house broken into

You know what they say about karma …

Well, some people don’t, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

For those who don’t remember, about a year ago Mayor Bass complained about Los Angeles' surplus of prisoners.

“It’s really an embarrassment on our country that we have more people locked up in the United States than any place in the world, and if you look at the many, many, many people who are locked up, they're locked up because they're poor, because they can't afford bail, or they can't afford proper legal defense,” she said, adding that “if you dealt with the poverty aspect, you could probably reduce the [incarcerated] population by 50%.”

“She let out all sorts of criminals in L.A.,” says Dave Rubin.

And now, she’s reaping the consequences.

Shortly after the incident, the New York Post released the following report:

A suspect was arrested after breaking into Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ home early Sunday morning.
...
Getty House is Bass’ official home, and is located on South Irving Boulevard in Windsor Square, nearly five miles west of Los Angeles City Hall.
...
The incident comes as crime continues to rise amid the LA district attorney’s soft-on-crime approach to court cases.
...
As the county’s top prosecutor, Gascón also enacted a series of criminal justice directives since taking office in 2020 that have drawn scorn from opponents and many in law enforcement, such as barring prosecutors from attending parole hearings, promoting zero-cash bail and efforts to end the prosecution of juveniles as adults, even for violent crimes.

“I should note that George Gascón was the DA of San Francisco — the Soros-backed DA … who destroyed San Francisco,” says Dave, adding that what happened to Bass is “kind of a funny story,” especially considering that “no one got hurt.”

“This is how brazen criminals are in L.A.,” adds Spencer Klavan. “They're not afraid of the Los Angeles Police Department. … They know they’re not gonna get prosecuted.”

While walking her dogs, LA woman was brutally raped by suspect released from jail hours earlier – survivor recalls trying to bite off attacker's penis

A California woman who survived a brutal rape and assault is telling her horrific story as a warning to other women.

On July 31, Marissa Young was walking her two 13-year-old dogs late at night in the Torrance neighborhood of Los Angeles. She had just finished her shift at a nearby restaurant.

While walking near the Nova Community Church, a man attacked her from behind.

"I was tackled from behind, I heard nothing," Young told KTLA. "I didn't have headphones in, I wasn’t looking at my phone, I was just walking straight forward to my destination."

The man forced her to the ground and began beating and raping Young.

She screamed for help, "I'm being raped! I'm being killed!"

"I was barrel-rolled around and continuing to try to fight this person off," she told KTTV. "At one point he had me on my back with his fingers around my neck, and held me down real close here and was strangling me, and sort of let me know that 'I have control – if you don’t stop screaming and yelling, I’ll kill you.'"

Young said, "I fought back like crazy – I did everything to get this person off of me. I bit his fingers, I tried to push him off of me."

"He asked – well told – me to perform oral sex on him, which is when I bit his penis as hard as I could – to try to bite it off in the hopes that he would run away," Young explained. "It did not come off – it just injured him severely – it just angered him and enraged him. He beat me even more severely. He was able to continue the rape even though he was severely injured in that sense."

"This person punched me in the face, closed-fisted, 15 to 20 times at least,” Young said of the brutal attack. “My nose is broken in four different places, and this bone was shattered here [she points to her upper cheek area]. You can still see a lot of swelling in my face.”

The vicious sexual attack lasted an agonizing 30 minutes. Marissa said of the violent rape, "This is a nightmare, just let me wake up from it."

"For whatever reason, he decided not to kill me and said, ‘You can go now,’ and pointed out my keys in the grass," Marissa said.

The bloodied sexual assault survivor was naked from the waist down. She ran to a nearby home – where she had to persuade the resident to let her inside and call 911.

The attack left Marissa missing teeth and suffering broken bones, deep bruises, and emotional scars. She was partially blind for about a month after the gruesome attack. Young's agonizing injuries required five surgeries.

The alleged attacker is 46-year-old Darrell Waters – described as a local homeless man. He was arrested by police within 36 hours of the attack.

Waters was charged with one felony count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, and sexual penetration by use of force. He is now being held without bail.

KTTV reported that Waters was released from jail for a misdemeanor just hours before the alleged attack. He was charged with unlawful possession of a dagger.

The Torrance City Attorney’s Office said Waters release by the Torrance Police Department was "in accordance with the penal code."

Young said of her alleged assailant's release, "It makes me angry. It’s horrifying to think that they were holding this guy with a huge knife that was taken off him that’s illegal and he was let go the next day even though he has a record.”

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help pay for medical expenses from the attack.

Marissa is trying to forgive her attacker.

"Because I understand that what he did to me was not personal, I want to get to a point where I try to understand that he is a cycle of abuse, and that what he did to me was done to him," she said. "I think that staying angry with someone who did this to me who doesn’t know me – I could have been anybody – it’s sort of fruitless."
